What a great time this place was! They were so hospitable and friendly! Situated off a main road, this vineyard was easy to get to! Parking was plentiful and out front. We didn't have a reservation, so we couldn't do a tasting, but that was fine because they had so many great wines to choose from. My favorite was the Amantes blend. The tables are among the vines themselves. Noise level was not bad at all. We've been to several wineries out here, and this one is for sure one of our favorites. Two Tasting Experiences: Joven (5 young wines: 3 whites & 2 reds): $500 Pesos ($30 USD); Reserva (4 pours): $500 Pesos ($30 USD), as of our 8/8/24 visit. Second visit. Unfortunately, we weren't fans of their wines the first time we were there (probably 8-10 years ago), but many of our friends rave about them so we thought it was time to revisit. Jorge poured for us this time and we shared one of each tasting experiences. The service was good and the wines were well made, but once again most were just not fitting our palates. We did really enjoy the '19 Nebbiolo Reserva and '19 Cabernet Sauvignon, and purchased bottles when we returned home (through www.LMAwines.com). Kristen (owner/winemaker) stopped by our table and spent quite a bit of time talking to us about the wine scene in Valle de Guadalupe ("VdG"), as well as her own experiences. We had met her mom & dad when they were running things during our first visit. We also found out that she's the winemaker for another local winery, Clos Benoit, which we visited and really loved what she did there. I always say that you should always try wines for yourself, as everyone's palate is unique and what I dislike, you may love...and vice versa. My one knock is that the winery is located right next to the main highway, so road noise is loud. It's not as relaxing an environment as many of the other VdG wineries. Fantastic wine tasting! We visited on a Friday afternoon with reservations and were seated outside at a very quaint barrel table for two. We decided to do the wine tasting flight which included 5 different selections. My ultimate favorites were Canto (Chardonnay) & Amantes (red blend) both served chilled. I have been wine tasting in Paso Robles, Temecula and Napa and this is by far has been some of the best tasting wines. The wine was so good, we decided to buy 2 bottles to bring back home. The food selection took it over the top for me. We ordered Almejas Gratinadas (baked clams), oysters & Ribeye & spinach crustini. The presentation was just as amazing as the taste itself. If you consider yourself Black or African American the owner DOES NOT want you here! This was the worst winery experience of my week in Valle de Guadalupe! The gentleman who served us was great, however the owner made it abundantly clear she was not interested in having black guests in her establishment. Every table of guests was greeted by the owner except our table. In fact, the owner came to our table to grab two bottles of wine and did not speak a single word! She followed it up by hugging our tour guide right in front of us and didn't take even a second to look our way or greet us. At first I wondered if we were being overly sensitive, but it was very clear to both of us and our tour guide that it was "strange" we were the only table she did not engage with! I can't say the wines were horrible, but if you care at all about everyone being able to engage in an experience with the same common courtesies regardless of background or race then this winery is not the one to support. And if you are black, I reiterate my original statement...THEY DON'T WANT YOU HERE!! read more

We had an amazing afternoon at Lechuza! There is plenty of parking, their staff is amazing, wine was great and the tacos from the food truck were the cherry on top! They're also on open table which is a huge plus. We both did the tasting which included 4 wines (Rosé, Chardonnay, a chilled red, & Cabernet). I absolutely loved the pluma (chilled red) and the Cabernet. We ended up getting a bottle of the pluma and I wish I would have gotten some to bring home! We got the steak tacos from the food truck. They bring them to your table when they are ready. They were just so good! We got 2 orders of them. Simple yet so delicious. This place isn't huge but it's really cute and we had such a great time. I've been here twice and wine host Armando is simply fantastic! He was a warm welcome on our first visit and gave us a true lay of the land for Valle De Guadalupe, and the gave us plenty of recommendations on how to tackle the area and get the best experiences. Then we had some of the best wine that the valley has to offer. Wow, they are doing incredible things with this family-owned production. One of their chardonnays was at 7 Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Incredible! We loved it so much that we did a second trip there again for my bachelorette girl's weekend. Everything here is hospitable and welcoming. You should make this your first stop. read more

Lechuza is one of our favorite Valle wineries. Beautiful setting outside by the vineyard; charming owner Kris Magnussen, wonderful wines, and now, great food too, from their small outdoor kitchen. This time, we came by with a group of 9 for our 30th anniversary. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried their Chardonnay and a chilled Nebbiolo, which were both really good, but our favorite was their Amantes "lovers" wine - a blend of 60% Nebbiolo, 20% merlot and 20% cab- delicious. We got a bottle of this for $990 pesos (about $50). We also got 3 orders of their grilled shrimp quesadillas - like street tacos with cheese - one of the best things we ate all day! Had a great time visiting over the weekend! I've done wine tasting throughout California, and prefer Napa/Paso Robles red wines. I was excited and nervous to try these Mexico wines. My husband and I each did a tasting, and we were very impressed with the taste of each of the tasting options. From the white, to rose, to reds Lechuza Winery is amazing. But I've actually skipped the best part, there are no back roads to get to Lechuza, and if you're going too fast you might just miss it. It's straight off one of the main roads, and there isn't any driveway, just a small parking lot on the side of the road. Trust me, you'll be thrilled after trying to get through all the back roads to get to other places in your day. You'll need reservations to taste here and prices were a bit higher than I had expected ($20/tasting and prices not waived unless you buy a box of wines) but when every sip is delish, service is good and the grounds are fun to stroll they can get away with it. The wine maker came out and was serving us personally and even gave us a list of his favorite wineries in the valle... we had a great time here! We will be back. read more

One of the more accessible wineries in valle (off the main road), this would be good if you don't want to go on the backroads. Since It is right off the main road you do hear traffic noise so it's not as quaint as some of the other wineries. We liked the Amantes and the other red that was recently harvested. This second generation winery is a must do in Valle de Guadalupe. The staff is exceptional and knowledgeable. They have a small appetizer menu which fits in well with the wine tasting. They have a mixed tasting, 2 whites, 2 red. They have a 2 glass reserve tasting and they offer a 4 glass red tasting combined with the reserve tasting. The ambiance is serene and peaceful. Lechuza was our first stop of the day and what a delight it was! A very intimate and pretty winery & tasting room with a lovely patio area. We had the opportunity to meet one of the owners and learn a great deal about the winery's history and family story. Our wine expert was hysterical and kept us laughing, smiling and our glasses full! Some seriously good wine. You'll understand why it's the only wine you'll find at the famed French Laundry With each tasting, you'll also get a plate of cheese. You've just got my husband's vote as his favorite winery in the valley! Advanced reservations are essential. Your hotel can help arrange (or you can call the winery directly). The winery is run by an American and Colombian couple. They couldn't be nicer. And so far, it ranks as my favorite in the valley. Okay when we first got there we could find anyone to help us, they didn't look to busy and we were confused if this was the place that our friend recommended. We almost left, but we didn't. It was a good choice. We did sample flight and added the Reserva. Once we tasted the wines we were happy we stayed. The Sauvignon Blanc was great - whites aren't my favorite but theirs was really good. When we got to the reds they were even better. The Amante was very good and the Pluma was great. We ended up buying 8 bottles. We only wish the service was a bit more real. The guy who served us was nice enough but his lines seemed canned and rehearsed, not really authentic. Anyway I definitely recommend visiting Lechuza. read more

This winery is incredible! I think they're the best wines in the Valle and I'm a bit of a wine snob. In fact, they're served at Michelin starred restaurants like French Laundry! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Armando was super cool and gave us some great restaurant and winery tips as well! Also they all wear masks and the place was spaced out and clean. I will say it's a bit pricey though... $35 tasting and wines going for $20- $75. But that same $75 wine goes for hundreds at French Laundry. Overall I'd highly recommend! read more

After a handful of runs through Valle, Lechuza has positioned itself as one of my favorite wineries in the region. Lechuza isn't loaded with frills but the wine is about as good as it gets in Valle De Guadalupe. As described by our guide for the day, Lechuza Vineyard is operated by a total of nine people and a couple of dogs. Each person does everything from harvest, to production, to tours, and even clerical work. The end result is a portfolio of wines that are really great and loaded with TLC. How good are they? Well, if I told you that a few of their small production wines can be found at the famed French Laundry would you believe me? You don't have to believe me, that's cool, but it's true! Aside from the good juice, their merchandise is great, I love the branding and their small retail space will sling you everything from the wine to local olive oils - it's fantastic. So what are you waiting for? Hit the Valle and make Lechuza a mandatory stop! read more
