I'm sharing this experience so other families can be aware. I tried to schedule an appointment for my son and submitted his medical records ahead of time. I was told the doctor would not see him because his case was considered "complex." This was very upsetting, as his actual records and labs clearly show he has only been treated for minor medical issues. It felt like this decision was made without properly reviewing the information provided. No evaluation of my son ever took place. Fortunately, we found a more qualified provider who carefully reviewed his records and began treatment. I would recommend other families confirm how thoroughly records are reviewed and what criteria are used before scheduling with this office. read more

The phlebotomist "Alex" gave me a pinched nerve in my right forearm while doing a routine venipuncture. DO NOT let this guy stick you with a needle. I have had my blood drawn hundreds of times and have never experienced this situation. He inserted the needle in an inappropriate place & then after I yelped in pain, this man proceeded to fish it in more to "try and find the vein" I went to the ER 3 days later and they diagnosed me with a pinched nerve due to "botched venipucnture". I've never rated a DR a one star but I can't help it. So many things lead to this review. Phone consultation is crazy expensive at $500 for 30 min. I have so many high medical bills due and wanted to get her "expert opinion" and was expecting solid advice and an outstanding call given the crazy high price. She was 20 min late to our 30 min call. First, that was upsetting as I too have work/ life and a schedule to keep and my time is just as valuable as hers. Once we got on the call I could immediately tell she was rushing through this call to get herself back on schedule as the call lasted 15 minutes. She did not seem to "care" it was about the time. My thoughts were that should would charge me half the rate (as on the paperwork) at $250 for 15 min but NOOO that if you go OVER the 30 min you are then charged an additional $250. They told me that if I wanted things to be on time I should only schedule at 9am. WAIT, WHAT? This $500 MIGHT have been acceptable IF they advice she gave me was actually beneficial or even authorized for my condition. I spoke with 2 other neurologists that immediate said that what she wanted me to do CLEARLY states in all medical reports does NOT work. I even spoke with patients with my condition (asked "have you heard of x") and then said that doesn't work for us. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! I just paid $500 for the biggest pile of garbage. Then the tack on a $15 fee because they charged my credit card. It does NOT state in ANY of their paperwork additional fees. Be careful as it looks like they can make up their own fees to get even more money out of sick people. SO SAD as I really had high hopes for this call. Dealing with active infections for over 11 years, Dr. Frid is the first practioner to actually look me in my eyes as we discuss symptoms and plans for actions. Her knowledge of not only my diseases/conditions but other conditions that closely interact with them are incredible and priceless. Dr Frid listens to the nuances of your specific problems and creates plans based on your individualities. For real. There will always be disconnects between the front-of-staff and the Drs within these types of practices, but as soon as you create a rapport, the FOS are friendly and quick. I was a patient of Dr. Frid's for 3 years and in the past would have recommended to her to anyone struggling with migraines and other neurological issues. However, last year things drastically changed... Upon arrival of one at my appointments that I was scheduled to have with her, I was never notified ahead of time that I was going to be seeing her associate. When I arrived at the office, I was then informed that Dr. Frid was no longer seeing established patients and only seeing new ones as she was getting ready to take a sabbatical to further study Lyme. When that associate decided to leave her office for good, once again the office did not inform me until the night before, and I had traveled two hours north just for that appointment. It was during that phone call that the office staff also informed me that Dr. Frid was back from her sabbatical, but was no longer taking insurance and because I didn't see her in a year, despite not having a choice in the matter, that they were going to be charging me $1000 just to see her and wanted half upfront. I cancelled the appointment, but not with ease. They wanted a 72 hour cancellation fee! It seems that now that Dr. Frid has studied with Dr. Jones that she is capitalizing on Lyme disease. She has made it very difficult for those with neurological Lyme to afford to see her, especially those who are struggling to make ends meet as is. When a doctor charges anywhere from $125-500 for an emergency call due medication side effects ( they refer to it as medication management), it's incomprehensible! Also, expect to pay $150 for a letter for work/school and $25 for each time you need a prescription refill. Furthermore, do not expect the office to give you any forms for possible insurance reimbursement for any case management that you may need. They will not do it. While she is knowledgable, that does not mean that any doctor who is gets to take advantage of the patient. I recommend going elsewhere unless you can afford the astronomical fees alongside mismanagement from office staff. read more

Dr Frid diagnoses my daughter with Lyme and co infections after she was Dx with MS from a very prominent neurologist. My daughter has been treated over a year now and is much better. Can't lie. I was skeptical from the moment I spoke with the receptionist dude to make my appointment, right through to knocking on door #5 and starting my consult with Dr. Frid. But I do think I was referred well! The appointment started off very no nonsense, but I knew she was listening, digesting, and making a plan of attack from minute one. Dr. Frid was very thorough, and become more personable as the exam and subsequent tests went by. Both the male technician, Max, and the female technician were nice. Both Max and Dr. Frid were very compassionate during the parts of my tests which caused discomfort or pain. And huge kudos to Dr. Frid for giving me one of the most thorough and clear explanations of her post-tests diagnosis. She explained everything in easy to understand Layman's Terms, while never coming across as if she were speaking down to me, and thoroughly explained definitions any time she used technical jargon. Lastly, her diagnosis made complete sense, and I left really feeling as if I was on the right path, after many shot-in-the-dark doctor appointments before finding Dr. Frid. Not a well managed office. Online, office hours are from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. If you call the phone number, you get a message saying 8am to 2pm Monday through Thursday. I called and left many voice messages and 1/3 of the time, I will get a call back so basically I have to keep calling and just hope someone picks up. Don't call at 8:00am. Someone is supposed to be there but no one ever picks up. Nowadays, doctors collect payment up front before performing any procedure or test due to high deductible plans and risk of nonpayment. I paid an estimated price up front. It took a month to have the claim processed and once I got my explanation of benefits, I needed to CHASE down my reimbursement (50% of what I paid). You need to do the secretary's job for her because she will not tell you that you overpaid. She said I was to call in and inform them that I need reimbursement and someone will check with the insurance company to verify. First off, getting someone to answer the phone is like playing the lottery. Second, even if you do get a secretary, she'll tell you, "Sorry but I need the office manager in order to reimburse you. I don't deal with billing. Oh by the way, the office manager isn't always here. He's in and out of the office all the time." I'm not kidding! That is what she said to me! I came to Dr Frid because my daughter has been misdiagnosed for over a year. She was probably out last hope. My 12 year old has been through hell and the doctors in Florida were not competent enough to help. Believe me we were at several top Children's hospitals in Florida. Dr Frid was the only doctor to listen and do a thorough exam. She noticed what was wrong during the initial exam and then ordered further testing. She is an amazing doctor and I would highly recommend her if your at your wits end with no answers. read more

After a couple years of out-of-control, out-of-nowhere headaches, I sought Dr. Frid's help. I was met with compassion and competence from both Dr. Frid and her support staff. I'm happy to report that my headaches are now under control, and all of that is due to Dr. Frid's assistance over the years. I recently met with Dr. David, and he was equally pleasant to work with. While I was being treated by Dr. Frid, I developed a completely unrelated auto-immune disorder which was undiagnosed at the time. It was scary, to be honest. At the same time, I was going through some pretty awful family issues. Life was tough. I had a routine follow-up appointment with Dr. Frid, unrelated to those things. During that appointment (I'll never forget it), Dr. Frid was so present for me, listened to everything that was happening, and was incredibly compassionate. She then got down to business to rule out that my auto-immune stuff wasn't a neuro problem. My takeaway: Dr. Frid cared about me as a person, not just as a patient. If you are having headache issues, you should see Dr. Frid. Period. read more

Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Frid and her office has left us questioning her "Hippocratic Oath" and office ethics. Under her care we were told our insurance didn't cover the expensive recommended treatment. We were blessed to be able to pay out of pocket upwards of $100,000. In the meantime we increased our insurance to pick up some of our treatment cost. Again, we were told our insurance would not cover her recommended treatment. Ironically (or is it?) we are seeing another neurologist for the same treatment (same insurance) and we are fully covered! To add salt to our wound, we have even got a $2,500 drug credit from the same drug company we were using at Dr Frid's office. We can only assume her office "absorbed" the credit instead of passing it along to us. So infuriating if it weren't so sad...money hungry! read more

Horrible experience, after 16 months of treating I am no better then the day I started. Dr. Frid has become about her brand and not patient needs. Over the 16 months I've began to notice she was more concerned with TV, Radio, clothing lines and bug sprays and social media then patients well being. The office staff is tough to get a hold of. At one point I called 26 times over three days and no answer or returned call. I travel four hours to treat with her. I paid well over $10,000 out of pocket and nothing to show for it. I talked to Dr. Frid on the phone for 2 minutes and 8 seconds and was charged 125.00. It is all about money with this office.. It was determined that I need IVIG to help with my medical issues. As of last month (1/19) she starting doing IVIG treatment and the office an will no longer refer patients to local infusion companies that are in network. It is a money making scam forcing you to treat at her facility at out of network insurance cost. I was told by her husband if I want to treat and pay over 100k for the infusing at her office she would write the order. I was also told If I wanted to use an infusion center in network find another doctor. Even if money was no object It is not fair to expect me to drive four hours from Maryland to NY, undergo a 7 hour infusion and drive back 4 hours. How is that compassionate? It is unrealistic to expect a sick person to make a 15 hour journey when I can have it completely paid for and have a nurse come directly to my home. All I need was a letter of medical need from her. Here is the email I received when asking to proceed with IVIG pre-authorization. (Remember in 16 months of treatment I was lead to believe I could do infusion in Maryland, I had many conversations with Dr. Frid and office staff about it) Unfortunately, we only do in-office infusions. If you would like to use Corum and do in-home infusions, you would have to find another provider who can write for your in-home orders. You can still see and be treated by Dr. Frid for your medical condition, but in-home infusions must be written by a different provider. Please let us know if you have any questions. Dr.Frid's Team For five years prior to her doing infusions in-house she referred patients. At one point she sent me an email with a list of home infusion centers. I even signed an intake form agreeing to the 250.00 fee for her to do IVIG referrals. Now she is holding her patients hostage forcing them to treat and pay her to infuse. If you have Lyme and Co-infections, don't fall into the same trap I did. Find a doctor not interested in being a celebrity and find someone that will work hard to see you through the journey to being well. I put Dr. Frid on the highest pedestal, I even referred at least 5 people to her. I put my faith, trust and loyalty into treating with her. I am hurt, angry and sad that all this time and money was wasted to be kicked in the teeth. I honestly can't believe that there was no willingness to work with me. Bottom line, is as long as she can make money on you, you are a valued patient. The second she can't your are thrown out with the garbage. read more

I was referred to Dr. Frid, by my Primary Care. Her staff was extremely friendly from the moment I called. I had a few questions regarding my insurance and they got back to me both by phone and email. The day of the appointment, I was greeted and immediately sent into the room. Dr. Frid is not a warm/friendly/bubbly type of doctor, but she is attentive and thorough, which I appreciated. She ran several tests and was genuinely concerned about helping me treat my issues. Dr. Frid is an amazing Autoimmune Neurologist. Last year, my then-16 year old son who had PANS/PANDAS, suddenly fell profoundly ill. He got so sick he could no longer attend school, could barely speak, and definitely couldn't think clearly. Dr. Frid thoroughly tested him for every infection under the sun and was the most thorough doctor we have ever seen or heard about! She uses hard science -- not guesswork -- to treat our son. The bloodwork guides her decisions every step of the way. Unlike other PANS/PANDAS doctors, Dr. Frid will make sure you TEST PROPERLY FOR LYME ANS COINFECTIONS. This is something most PANS/PANDAS doctors don't do well at all, often to the child's great detriment. At the very least, we wanted to be certain to RULE OUT all of the vector borne illnesses at the very start of treatment, since they are very often the underlying and undiagnosed trigger for PANS. My child is now about 90% well after only 9 months' treatment with Dr. Frid. We spent 13 years trying to manage the problem locally, only to have the infections rage back, twice as angry. Dr. Frid seems to be getting at the root cause for us. We are so happy she is our doctor and so grateful we have the resources to pay her fees. My only complaint would be that this fee is prohibitive to any parents whose children are just as sick as my child but can't pay for this kind of top notch treatment. I got a call while I was on vacation from a male assistant stating that my results were in, and one result was abnormal. She needed me to come in for an appointment. I asked to speak to the doctor, and he said she was not in. "You mean," I said, "she had you call and tell me I had an abnormal result on a test, but she's not there to tell me what?" I'm so disappointed in the staff. Several years ago, my mom has been diagnosed (in another country) with trigeminal neuralgia, so we were looking forward to see specialist/neurologist here, for a second opinion and for procedure as to how to threat it next, because pills began to loose it strength against a pain. We received referral to see Dr. Frid from my mom's primary care doctor office. And receptionist at primary care doctor office scheduled apt. with Dr. Frid. So based on all those great reviews on Yelp and Google, we were very excited to see Dr. Frid. My mom took a day off from work to see this Dr. Frid. When we arrived, we signed-in, filled out paperwork, then front desk manager said that doctor is ready to see my mom. When she walked-in, it was a male doctor (and not Dr. Frid). We spoke with manager that my mom has apt. w.Dr.Frid, manager said that Dr.Frid is off today and he told receptionist (smiling), that he the one who scheduled my mom apt. w/someone else . Well, since my mom took a day off from work and we traveled all the way to the city, she went to see this other doctor. While I was finishing filling out application for my mom, I noticed there is a section, where it says ' Patient will be charged $100 of late fee for IE visit , $75 for follow-up visit , etc, if they cancel or re-schedule apt. in less then 24 hrs. etc '. We refused to sign this part of application and receptionist at the front-desk took it personal and told us that if we won't sign it, doctor would not want to see a patient next time. I told her why we refuse to sign-it and she said, "Why we did not address this with a manager" (who by the way left an office to the rest of the day, after this incident, in afternoon). Since we refused to sign-it and receptionist told us Doctor won't see us again, I said: "It completely fine with us, we would not want to be back again". Very unprofessional, arrogant staff behavior of the office staff. It was not initial Doctor we were looking forward to see, also we were bringing business in with my mom's private insurance (their behavior make it look as if they are the only neurologist office in the whole city). read more

I chose Dr Frid based on all of the 5 star reviews but honestly I would give her a zero if that was an option. My bad experience started with her right from the start. Both her and her staff are indifferent, lack compassion and experience. She made one bad decision after another for me. And after those decisions made me much worse, she refused to return my phone calls and failed to show up for an appointment that was crucial to my treatment. Awful experience all around. Dr. Frid is absolutely amazing. Her no nonsense attitude, her positive energy, her insight to the real issues and her dedication to her patients, practice and advocacy for Lyme disease are all something to be admired. She takes on difficult cases and gives attention to each and everyone. I never feel rushed in her office, I never feel pushed to the side and I know she listens and believes me when I tell her what's going on with my body. Dr Frid has treated my 7yo son and me for 11 months and 7 months, respectively. She was able to diagnose our Lyme and coinfections that other drs were not able to find. She is extremely knowledgeable about Lyme treatment options and the latest advances in treatment. She asks detailed questions to get to the root cause of issues that arise, listens to my concerns and questions and genuinely cares about our treatment. My personal experience thru navigating my own chronic conditions along with dozens of unexplained symptoms have been the biggest struggle I've had to face. Prior to the onset of my uninvited conditions 7 years ago, I've had led a normal healthy life. During the first several years from the onset of chronic pain, I've accumulated dozens of other symptoms which led to countless visits to medical specialists. After numerous tests along with their recommendations to treat each symptom, it was clear to me that none of these consultations have provided me with any insight to how all of my struggles were related. Since meeting with Dr. Frid, my current status has improved drastically. I no longer seek out other medical specialists since many of the ailments have been resolved. I was very fortunate to find a doctor who has great knowledge but just as important, is her capacity to listen and understand the importance of all details which other specialists have ignored as insignificant. I belong to one of the most vulnerable groups: lyme patient diagnosed with MS, uncertain wether is both or just Lyme. What I can say is that Dr. Frid's superficial advices caused me to be in the worst physical situation I have been since I started curing Lyme one year ago, I developed symptoms I never had and went from 80-90% symptoms free to 40%. I have semi-permanent damages and working hard to be back to the condition I was before following Dr. Frid indications. Finding a neurologist that understands lyme is almost impossibile and I had huge faith in Dr. Frid, I was desperate to find answers. I am Italian living in Italy and I was diagnosed with MS in March during COVID-19 pandemic (after 1 year of curing Lyme&co.) so it was impossibile for me to travel to NY, so I had to have phone calls with her spending $1000 in two weeks: her medical advices caused immense damage to my body that still persists after 1.5 months. I asked for her support via email, as she told me during our phone call that she was going to give, but her support was extremely poor and quick not understanding the patient and my condition, afterwards I was asked $125 dollars for another e-mail reply. I believe doctors that cure lyme patients must have a work ethic that Dr. Frid is sadly lacking, it seemed to me that her primary interest is money making and branding herself. I decided to keep following my Dutch Lyme doctor who is not a neurologist, but knows how to read a body's patient, its needs and most important is after listening, protecting and healing, not money making and fame. Scheduled appointment on my calendar was for 3:30pm, while driving to my appointment the doctors office calls to inform me that my appointment was for 2:30pm and since I was already late the doctor could not see me and if I wanted to re-schedule, it would cost me $100.00, the young lady was very unprofessional and rude, so I asked for her name, she refused and just hung up the phone, I called back and they kept me on hold. I was a patient of Dr. Frid for 6 years; she first diagnosed and helped me over my headaches. Then, she notified me that I had a brain tumor and that we would have to watch it. She was wonderful. Then, I got a call from her secretary telling me over the phone that I "had to have a operation on my brain tumor." The doctor didn't call herself. I actually found a surgeon myself as well. Soon, I was notified that Dr. Frid would take no insurance and I had to see her associate for a renewal of my migraine prescription. I did, and he gave me a prescription for my migraines, for which I went to the office in the first place. He left the office a month or two ago, and now even though I did what they asked, no one from the office would renew the prescriptions even though the same office notified me that I would have to see her associate, which I did. Seems to me that the office cared when perhaps it was new and accepting insurance, now that they do not, they are callous and Dr. Frid will not even get on the phone with me even though I have been a solid patient of record for years. I'm very disappointed, and I have to find another neurologist. Sad. read more

I am not an active poster on social media but have gained so much from being guided by parents like all of you. I had to post about my son's (12) experience with Doctor Frid and her staff Anton and Melanie. Dr. Frid is the utmost professional and her thorough approach has resulted in IVIG for my son. I don't know his long term prognosis and I know everyone reacts differently to IVIG, but after my son's first two days on IVIG my husband and I were describing him as a 'new kid'. He is back this week for his second set of IVIG and I have been reminded by the care and compassion of the team. With Dr. Frid overseeing, Anton managing the ops and Melanie being an amazing nurse it is the most comfortable place to be in this nightmare of a parent journey. My son was actually looking forward to going today since he feels better and he is super comfortable there even as his introverted self. Again, I don't know what is to come but with Dr. Frid's brilliance and understanding of these diseases I know we are in the best hands. My second son (10) is now going through testing for IVIG. read more

Nice office, pleasant demeanor, but absolutely no follow up. Saw her and she had me take MRI and said I should call her for the results and instructions for follow up. Had the MRI and then as instructed called her office. Never heard back: called 5 times over a 6 week period and each time was told someone would get back to me; no one ever did. So traveled to her office and was told she only saw patients first time so arranged to meet with another neurologist. When I scheduled appt with the other doc, I asked her staff to fax my records. Called 3 times over 3 week period and they never followed up. I'm going to have to travel to her office now so I can hopefully get the records before I see the new doctor. I love Dr Frid's office! I have gone 2x to her office, each visit a year apart and for different reasons. Each time I called her staff was pleasant and scheduled me in to see her right away. They even called me when they had a cancellation so I could see her sooner. Both Dr Frid & David were both thorough and took their time trying to help me figure out what was wrong. After taking notes, they had me undergo testing right in her office on the same day of my appt. I did not need to come back for testing which saved me time :-) The 1st visit was due to a feeling of numbness & tingling on my face and left arm. Turns out it was a bulging disk on my neck which I then went to see a physical therapist and after a few weeks was back to normal. The 2nd visit was due to an episode of dizziness that kinda mimics Vertigo .. the jury is still out as to why I experienced this but once again I was referred to the same physical therapist and already the dizziness has gone. The physical therapist they referred me to is Reuven Toker who is excellent and has offices in Manhattan & Rego Park, Queens. One last thing to add Dr Frid's office accepts my insurance which is currently Medicaid/Fidelis since I am in between jobs at the moment. I recently went to this practice. I saw Dr. Shany David. He was excellent. Listened to all my background and was very analytical and thorough. Clear diagnosis and recommendations. I would give this practice 5 stars, but like a lot of small practices the administration of the practice is not 5 star. But it's not as bad as some of other reviews suggest- it's okay.. I would give the practice administration aspect 3 stars and quality of care 5 stars. So I am blending to 4 stars. read more

Recently I had a very big health scare with my Blood Pressure shooting up to 195/110 and had to go to the ER at Lenox Hill. I spent the night there and my vitals returned back to normal. No one was able to tell me why this happened. I am a 47 yr old male that is very physically active, eat healthy food, non smoker, non drinker doing everything that a doctor would ask a patient to change considering what happened to my BP. My cardiologist mentioned that i am doing all the right things and my heart checked out 100% healthy. I did my due diligence and found out that I should have secondary tests done to see if there was something underlying causing my sudden surge in BP. In doing so I went to see Dr. Frid to check out potential neurological causes. Let me tell you that my experience seeing Dr. Frid was refreshing. I was treated like a human being with compassion and NOT like just another patient or patient mill practice. Dr. Frid was thorough and spent much time with me trying to understand my symptoms and everything leading up to my surge in BP. I saw her during a period span of 3 months about every other week. Each visit was just as thorough, humane, and pleasant. I would strongly recommend seeing Dr. Frid. read more
