I finally had a decent round of golf this year. Lederach is in good condition. The rain has created a nice green course. The key to scoring well at Lederach is chipping and putting. Greens have very few flat areas. Pins are in tough spots. Golf is getting expensive. I bought a season card for $39 which gives me a discount Monday-Friday. Regular weekday rates are $65.00. They have senior and military rates. Lederach purchased new carts last year. They have an area to hit balls and a large putting green. They service drinks and food at Leddy's Pub. You might want to try the Big BLT..it's good. Enjoy your game and have a good round. read more

They have terrible customer relations. My playing partner and I tried for over an hour trying to call and cancel a tee time. Never an answer and not anything new. I left a message and hopefully with get an acknowledgement. I tried all the extensions, proshop, leddy pub, managing director, etc.. No answers anywhere. Maybe they are closed but website says they are open. Their lack of answering calls and caused me to not play there very frequently. read more

I've been playing golf fot 65 years. this is easily the most tricked up course I've played. mounds in the middle of greens. some greens if you're on the wrong side, you have to chip the ball. no direct putting line. Course conditions aren't as nice as I remember them being a few years back. Lots of unrepaired divots on the fairways and greens need to be rolled (I like my greens FAST). A marshal also wouldn't be a bad idea, to keep the pace of play going. I was stuck behind a 4-some that had 2 open holes in front of them, yet wouldn't let me pass. Other than that the course is long, lots of elevation changes, and most importantly, fun! read more

Went in at 2:25 and ask if there was any chance to get out and the rude Arse behind the desk said no and very arrogant and I mention there was times available at 2 and rudely he said well it's 2:20 total disrespectful and rude as I walked out it will be the last time I play at this course read more

The first time I played here I absolutely hated the course. The second time I played the course I hated it , but realized that it is a track that you need to get to know. Now I really like the course as I know how to play it. I recommend spending a few extra dollars on the course yardage book and also you must play the correct tee box for your handicap.If you play the wrong tees on some holes you will really not have fun. The greens are very hard to describe , they are very challenging and have large mounds and slopes.It is important to know where the pin positions are and if the greens were fast they would be impossible. They keep them on the slower end of the spectrum, probably around 8-9 so they are playable. I usually putt very well on the bent grass greens here. It is a great place to play a match in match play format, a high score in a hole or three is inevitable. The 19th hole is great . Good food and drinks. read more

The weather broke last week and like most people in the Philadelphia area who damn near lost their minds this winter, it was the best thing to happen since John Bolaris came back to town. Weather.com clued me in on the happiness and in about 5 minutes I made a tee time and drove to Lederach (Thursday) and played for $30. 1pm tee time. I have played here probably 8-99 times prior. I really like the course. It is always in good shape, long course at almost 6,700 yards from the blues (over 7,000 from the blacks) and the staff / players have always been friendly. The greens are a bit unfair in places so have your putter in check. 3 and 4 putts are not uncommon. It was a really nice day and to my surprise there were not many people out on the course. i realize people have jobs. So do I. I just make my own hours. Perfect for a golf addict. When I went there they didn't have any water out on the course and the bathrooms were locked which I thought to be a little lazy. I realize its early in the season but put someone in a cart with a bunch of little keys that say master, some jugs of water and send them on their way. Its not like it was early in the day either. i had a 1pm tee time so by the time i got to the bathrooms is was 2:30ish. The course is surrounded by nice homes. So nice, they should have open bathrooms so I don't have to relive myself by the Cleavers swing set. The homes are close to the course but not close enough to be a worry. This is probably the only "problem" I've had there. The course is great and worth the money. There is one green in particular. You will know it when you see it. It is a score killer. It's a solid course. Great staff. Fun to play. The comments about the greens are correct - they are NO JOKE. I was waiting for the windmill and the close nose. It didn't really bother me though. It gave a sense of challenge that I liked. The course encourages you to use every club in your bag. There are tons of risk-reward moments. I'm not sure it's quite worth what they ask, but its nice. The houses on the course are almost never in jeopardy of an errant ball. If you hit a house, you hit a REALLY bad shot. The monster par 5 is semi ridiculous. I love a long par 5 - but 630+ yards? Really? A bit much. They switched the original 9 and 18. I like that. Now you finish on a drive-able par 4. Good times - but beware ... It's far more likely to end up in a water hazard than the green. read more

Played Lederach with some friends on Sunday afternoon. The course is a laid out through a housing development which takes some of the relaxing nature out of the round. People having barbeques right at the edge of course doesn't really lend itself to the calm surrounds you usually get golfing. The staff was obviously doing a valiant job trying to keep the course playable, the rough was burned out and dead from the heat. The tee boxes, fairway and greens were still alive. However, with the amount of water they were putting down some spots were literally like walking a on sponge, especially on the tees and greens. The course bills itself as a Links style course, but is really more a hybrid course. It has rolling fairways and greens like a links course but I had my driver out way too often. Some of the greens are quite frankly stupid. One that really sticks out in my head was "U" shaped with a pin position at one of the tips of the U. Players who landed on the green but at the other tip had been chipping from one side of the green to the other to get to the flag. The course was fairly empty and we were playing a nice quick round (Front 9 in under 2hrs) until we ran into the 4 some in front of us at the turn. Two old guys and their wives who routinely were hitting their 3rd shots still in easy range of us off the tee. The back up was getting long (3 groups behind us waiting to tee off on a par 5) but they copped an attitude when we asked to play through. They must've been regulars, because the ranger was talking to them and not pushing them to speed up of move aside. We finished up with a 4:45 round, not bad normally, but annoying after the fast front. The price for a round was on the higher side, but has come down from when they originally opened. All in all it was a nice course and we'll probably play there again. I can't say it was one of my favorites though. read more

Lederach compares to a mini golf farm. This review only covers the service and golf course. Nothing else. I really think so many reviewers forget to think about an entire experience or the rating scale. Two stars signifies that I have been to better places but this place isn't a complete failure. To give Lederach four or five stars is a joke. Pinehurst gets five stars, not here. Starting with the service, it is very good. Having played here a few times over the past three years, the staff is definitely attentive. But a golf club is about its course. And Lederach falls short. The course conditioning is pretty good. So no issues there. The big problem is the greens. I feel like you're playing putt-putt golf once you get onto any green. The slope/angle on the greens is laughable. Whomever designed these greens should be jailed for poor design and lack of thought. Too many greens have a severe "humpback" or "turtle shell" similarity. I'm sure the designer would say that's part of the challenge, I think it's hilariously stupid and unfair. The pace of play has been okay, although, as a few reviewers have stated, it is in a residential community and that detracts from the enjoyment of the game. A high handicapper would probably not enjoy the course completely. I think this is one course I would pass on if I could get a tee time elsewhere. In a last resort, I would play here. I played this course during a late afternoon, so I didn't get the full experience of a starter or time at the range, just the course and I have to say I really liked it. This course gets a lot of play and for good reason, it's a challenge. I finally found A public course that stretches out to over 7000 yards so I got to open it up a bit and it was fun! There are some very challenging holes with some difficult tee shots, and also precise 2nd shots. Lots of elevation change and a variety of different looks from the tee. There's 2 par 3's over 235 yards and to some serious greens, no pancakes once on them and there is also a par 5 that is 654 yards, uphill. I had to flush a driver, 5wood and a 7 iron to reach it! I like these challenges but it will certainly slow play when the course is busy. The course is in very good shape, lots of grass everywhere, almost too much! There weren't any marks on the black tees today but boy you can see the foot traffic on the greens. They were a little bumpy but still rolling around a 9.5, which is all you'll need on them, so much undulation, I'm kind of surprised the slope is what it is. The good thing about how dense the grass grows on the greens, long irons stick. You'll need the assistance. Tees were mostly without undulation, fairways were well maintained and clearly defined, the rough was cut to 3" and even throughout the course and while the bunkers that receive play (greenside etc) were rarely raked that's an issue with the inconsiderate players that were there before not the course. I look forward to playing at lederach in the future! read more

5 and half hours to play a round last weekend without a ranger in sight. They overbooked the course and sent groups off the front and back all day causing it to be extremely slow. Winter rates are listed on the website but not honored at the course as well. read more

For the past several years we have been fortunate to have our golf tournament in memory of my brother at Lederach Golf Club. Dan Washleski, GM, has been supportive, gracious and kind in helping us pull of a great event year after year. His staff always has the course in phenomenal shape and Michael and the rest of his kitchen/ bar staff help out before, during and after our event. The starters and bag staff help make the event run smoothly from the moment you pull up to the course. The close to 200 golfers who attend our memorial golf tournament always comment how well they are treated and that we should have moved our tournament there years ago;I could not agree more. If you want to play a fantastic course with inspiring views and be treated well, I encourage you to book a tee time. read more

Reading over some of the older reviews I'm surprised. I live close by and play here often. They now offer an Advantage Card for $20.00, which for Seniors is a great deal. Play Monday-Thursday for $29.00, which fits my schedule and pocketbook. I don't play anywhere on weekends, takes too long to play a round. Once familiar with the track it's a good course to play. (If you want greens that a simple and flat go play Worcester.) These greens are BIG and have a lot of undulations meaning you need to land the ball in the right part with your approach shot. That's the challenge. Slope from the green tees is 131, probably best for most folks. Just don't think you are a great and play from the tips and you will like Lederach. read more

Course = Very good Staff = Friendly Pace of play = Horrible. If I'm paying $80 I don't expect to play a 6 hour round. Had to wait for every shot. No one let us play through the entire time (and we were a 3 some). The ranger was a nice older gentlemen but he didn't seem to be doing anything other than driving around. Its a shame too because it is a fun and challenging course and its in great shape. Unfortunately I don't like to play 6 hour round so I will not be returning. read more

The course condition is good for the price they charge. They have a good layout where each hole is unique. Half of the holes have mild to significant elevation changes. Fairways are usually plush during in-season. What I like the most is that the holes are spread out and not parallel to one another. The greens are huge, quick and undulated. One complaint I have is pin placement. On most of the holes they are about 5-10 yards from the edge. There's no need to place it that close on so many holes. It's hard enough to putt on undulated greens. read more

Exceptionally Disappointing. The course is not bad. The greens are fun and can be challenging. But when the ranger tells you on Saturday to expect a 6 hour round of golf then they need to go to ranger school. We started at 9am and finally called it quits on after 13. We were already into 4 hours. There were times when 2 foursomes, our twosome and the threesome behind us were ALL WAITING at the same time/same green. NO RANGER in sight until hole 13. As we drove off hole 16 there was 1/2 hole with no one on it and hole 17 had NO ONE on it. Had the ranger been doing his job our $72+ round might have been enjoyable. The ranger said "well you are a twosome". We said "we understand, but how about the two foursomes stacked up in front of us. Even if we were a foursome we'd be stacked". I then went to the pro shop and was very kind. The head guy crossed his arms and basically gave me a look of .... we don't give a rats a.... what you think. We got your money so get lost. Well I golf with many and I will tell everyone Lederach feels a 6 hour round is "what you should expect". Who wants to spend 6 hours waiting to golf. NO ONE! The course is nice. It is sad there is not better management and their attitude on week ends is not acceptable. BTW, I golfed it the Tuesday before for the first time and finished in exactly 4 hours. The course was full. The only reason a Saturday takes so long is because the rangers and managers of the course don't care about moving poor players. read more

Dont let the pictures fool you, this golf course is IN a neighborhood...no, no IN a neighborhood. The design is OK, the fairways were terribly burnt and diseased. They yardage marking is HORRIBLE unless your on the cart path the whole time.. Driving through the neighborhood you can get lost, the course is SOOO again, because you are hiking THROUGH a neighborhood. Its not a BAD course by any means, its just not somwhere ill ever play again. The best part was the friendly starter / ranger and good pub food in clubhouse. read more

Lederwait. This course could be spectacular but bad maintenance and management have undercut what might have otherwise been an exceptional golf experience. As an initial matter, the course was very well designed with good placement of water and bunkers, and the undulation of the greens makes this course challenging for all levels. The real issues are with (sub)standard management, which is typical of Billy Casper Management, including a heavy price and 9 minute tee times, which often lead to rounds in excess of 5 and a half hours (and not helped by the fact that there is frequently no ranger on patrol). Despite the high daily rates and packing the course as full possible, the tee boxes are often shaggy, uneven greens, bunkers are frequently muddy, and fairways streaked with mud. I understand that this is not the review that Billy Casper Management wanted, but this was not the round that my partners and I wanted, either. read more

Played this course July 28, 2015 early in the morning. First, they have a coupon for $30 before 8:00 am. That is a great deal. I read reviews about the course before playing and expected a nicer course than I experienced. A lot of the shots were blind. It was a very hot day and only 1 water fountain was working and only 1 jug of water was on the course. I was fine but others might have been very thirsty. They really need more water on the course when it is hot. I thought the fairways were in good condition and so were the greens. I didn't play well yesterday and missed a lot of fairways and thus lost a lot of balls in the very high grass. It is a nice course, just not the type of course I enjoy playing. read more

I played Lederach on June 6, 2015 as part of a golf outing with a 2pm shotgun start. In addition, I have played a normal round at this course 2 or 3 times previous to this last round. What has kept me from writing a review before this past round is that I could not decide on a rating. If I am being completely honest, I have loved the course at times and I have also hated this course but at the end of the day it one of the nicer courses in SE PA. I can agree with at least some parts of all of the previous reviews that have been written here on yelp. I think that what everyone needs to keep in mind is that this is NOT a beginners golf course, it is long, the greens are tough (#1 and #8 are almost comical depending on pin placement), and it becomes an even tougher course if it is a windy day. This course is designed for a better than average golfer that has a good knowledge of how far they hit each of their clubs. Cons - The greens fees can be a little expensive but the course has always been well maintained when I have played there. Parts of the course do wind through a housing development but the houses only come into play on hole 18. Otherwise, you should probably look for an easier course if you are routinely finding yourself in a backyard. The rounds here can be slow but I think that is partially due to the difficulty of the course. I am all for different levels of players getting out to play so I just know ahead of time that rounds here will probably be 5 hours. Pros - It is a beautiful course with some really challenging holes. 9 and 18 are a great way to finish each 9. Each of the par 5's are a test of your golfing skills. This course has always been in great shape when I have played. I do not know of another course in the area that is similar to the layout at lederach. This is a course that needs to either be played a few times or played with someone that has been here before because the danger on most holes is not visible in the form of bunkers, creeks, or lakes. The dangers are being in the wrong part of the fairway where you have no angle to the green, hitting a false front, or being on the wrong tier of the green. Overall, I appreciate the design of the course and have respect for it as I know that it will always challenge my golf game. I will continue to visit but it will never be my favorite course due to the cost and distance from my house. It is great for a once a year round with my buddies. read more

I had my 3rd Memorial Golf Outing (in memory and honor of my husband who passed, this was one of his favorite courses, we played here often) on August 12, 2016. It was 2nd day of heat wave, extremely hot. Course was in excellent condition, fairways and greens. Plenty of restrooms with running water. Will always be playing here. My favorite public golf course to play in the Philadelphia area. Greens are usually quick as long as people are fixing their pitch marks but usually there are those *holes that don't respect the course enough to do so. The pace on the weekend can get slow but its not a 5 hour round. The holes are all pretty challenging. The first hole will give you an idea of the challenge ahead. Blind landing spot unless you go right but it might trickle into the rough with the fairway sloping to the right. The green is multi tiered so place your approach well. I've witnessed many 4 putts here... 600+ yard par 5 that plays uphill all the way? Good luck. My favorite public course to play in the Philadelphia area by far. I have played this course numerous times and its best attribute is the proximity to my house. The course is okay, but it is not cheap. The bar and restaurant are awful. This is the only course that my friends and I play where we leave the course for lunch and beer after the round. Showed up to play today and I thought the rate was $71 (again, not cheap). This employee named Mike told me the price was $78. I told him that I thought it was $71. He told me it was $78 because my friend reserved the tee time on the phone, not the internet. I told him that I was not going to pay that price and Mike told me "Fine, leave, we don't need you". The conversation degenerated from there. For context, it was raining at that time, there were few people on the course and my group was the only one in the clubhouse. Never will go back. read more

Hello, fellow Yelpers. I wanted to describe my experience regarding a casual, quick lunch between the front nine holes and the back nine of my round. After playing the ninth hole, and obviously four putting on the courses comical greens, I realized that my stomach was growling. Alas, I looked to my left and saw a clubhouse. "A reasonable lunch" raced my mind. I stopped inside and saw a sign on the back left corner - Hot Dogs - $3.00. "Perfect," said my inner demons. I walked over and proceed to grab a roll from a bag of rolls tossed on the counter. I reluctantly, yet excitedly, grabbed the tongs, and took hold of the girthiest hot dog on this side of the Mississippi. After placing the dog on the roll, large enough to make me feel somewhat ashamed, I turned and looked for the raw onions next to the readily available ketchup and mustard. Shocked and dismayed that the onions were not readily accessible, a mistake a surely thought, I asked the human behind the bar for onions. His response, as if it was a normal policy, "fifty cents." My heart dropped. How could this be? A common, free hot dog condiment now with the charge of a half pence? Shocked, I asked the human if he was joking. The response was no. Perplexed, I decided to proceed with the option to add raw onions to my girthy dog. After twenty seconds of pure shock and bewilderment, the bipedal creature arrived with - a plastic one ounce cup half full with four pieces of raw onion. Needless to say, this was the worst hot dog experience of my lifetime. As I went to pay for my marked-up 3.50 hot dog with limited raw onions, the machine had the gumption to ask for a tip (after I served my own dog and paid for raw onions.) Lederach, I urge you to consider this outrageous policy and make the world a better place. Follow the standard procedure, and leave raw onions with ketchup, mustard, and relish for the hot doggies. This policy makes Donald Trump look like a sane, reasonable human being. read more

The public golf scene is meager at best when compared to the quality of private courses, it is what it is. Lederach has the potential to be a private quality course at a relatively public price but isn't quite there. Nonetheless, it is one of my go to public courses for several reasons. The service is solid, they take your bag from your car and put in on your cart, the proshop is helpful and the pub is spacious. They have a natural grass range that is of acceptable quality and a putting green that reflects the course conditions. The tips and the blue tees are just above 7000 and 6600 respectively, distance you just can't find at most public courses and turn the course into a real challenge. During temperate months, the conditions are above average, but far from a private club. The tee boxes are fairly flat with healthy grass, no complaints. The fairways are hit or miss, and rarely do you have a flat lie, which, is not a bad thing, but sometimes its really odd positioning. If you hit the ball in the fairway...I feel one should be rewarded, but sometimes hitting it in the first cut or even the rough with a flat lie is a better play. If playing the back tees, the course gets difficult with many 170+ second shots, even if you're driving 280+ to greens, that as many other reviewers have noted, sometimes have a carnival-esque feel to them. Additionally, there are often obstacles in the way of the green. The key to playing well here is you must hit a solid drive, and play smart without getting cute. Despite the undulating greens, I have, for some reason, putted fairly well here, rarely, if ever, three putting, which I owe to the consistency of the speed of the greens. The thing I appreciate most of private clubs is the quality and consistency of the greens. Direction, in general, is easy enough that you can get the ball within 3 feet, but inconsistent speed is what makes putting difficult. Lederach usually is quite consistent and resultantly, putting is not as bad as an experience as other reviewers may hint at. The pub has some good beers on draft and a standard menu of burgers, fries, wings etc. The lacking of good public golf out there leaves lederach at the upper echelon. If I played enough....or had money, i'd join a private club. In the interim, courses like lederach are appreciated. read more

No wonder you can't find any advertising about Leddy's Restaurant at the Lederach Golf Club here because they are embarrassed to even mention it. I would rather get hit in the head with a golf ball than ever eat hear again. It was an ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. The worst service I can remember in years and the food was SUBPAR and WAY WAY OVERPRICED. It was almost empty when we got there for dinner, one other table finishing up. Server took our order and we ordered an appetizer and she asked if we wanted it before the meals, yes it's an appetizer. Ordered three dinners (ha ha dinner right) of SUPPOSEDLY half of rack of ribs $12 each. Server brought our drinks and walked back and in circles in the room and forth to the few other tables coming in for 30 minutes, never asked again if we wanted more drinks that were empty. Never said 'your food should be up shortly" NOTHING Then she brings what was supposed to be the HALF RACK of Ribs and we asked about the Mozzarella sticks and she said OH yeah, I will have to check on those. The HALF RACK OF RIBS -- I had no idea how you can get a HALF RACK out of the MIDDLE --- They were SMALL RIBS and SIX TOTAL with French fries for $12. They were BARELY WARM and were just REHEATED WITH SAUCE ON TOP -- TOTALLY SUCKED. Server NEVER CAME BACK to ask if everything was OK or even "can I get you another drink" NOTHING was even asked about after the first and ONLY drink -- at least the ice melted because we waited so long right? So we sit there after finishing for another 30 minutes with the empty plates. The server was trying to take other orders for people who had come in. It was a Saturday night and only one server total and no help. My husband called her over when she was at another table and she ignored him and walked away to the kitchen. He went up to the kitchen to get her to get our check and asked another worker if we can get our check, and she told him our server with be with you as soon as she can. WOW Finally we got the check and GUESS WHAT -- we were charged for food that we never ordered or received for that matter. I just wish I could do ZERO STARS for how bad this was and how much of a RIP OFF the place is. read more

So I sign up for the advantage card and was promised a phone call to further explain benefits ... never heard from anyone. No big deal didn't really believe that would happen anyway ... So I get there this past Sunday and the normal rate is 74. After booking online for a 5. discount and anticipating the promised 15% off that number was ready to pay the appropriate amount of 58.65 was charged 62.90 even though I asserted the above math the children at the desk assured me I was wrong ... in the interest of joining my other three partners I acquiesce and leave with that minor frustration ... after the round I approached the desk and asserted my earlier message and encountered a bristling hubris from these same children who tried to explain away their lack of training or inability to do simple math in an unacceptable disrespectful manner.we all make mistakes ... bottom line message: know your rules and remember golfers are your source of income and always treat them with respect OR you will motivate them to post an unsatisfactory rating ... course is challenging and interesting in generally good shape with undulating greens that are cuppled with miserable pin placements that will cost an extra 6-8 strokes over intelligently designed placements ... the more I play there the less it is enjoyed read more
