Terrible, food was overdone and dried out. Looked to have been out all afternoon. When I tried to get a refund the manager refused.

It was a decent meal for a decent price. Only thing was cream cheese wontons lacked any substantial cream cheese!

We tried the Szechuan dumplings in chili oil, cream cheese wontons, and the kung pao chicken. There was a lot on the menu that caught my eye, especially the orange beef - but unfortunately, they do not sell that dish anymore. The dumplings were mostly warm, but some were cold. The flavor was impeccable, so I didn't mind the mixed temperature. That's something that could be improved. I haven't ever ordered kung pao chicken, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it was amazing. Seasoned well and served with a little heat. The amount of chicken you get is impressive. It is served with a side of rice. The wontons were some of the hottest/freshest wontons I've ever eaten. Steam was coming out of my mouth! It definitely was a fresh order due to them originally forgetting that part of our order. I was pleasantly surprised by this experience, although the dumplings were cold, and an order of wontons was served late, everything was unique and cooked well. The flavors are amazing. Will definitely be back.

We tried the double sided noodles with chicken and kung pao beef, both excellent choices in my opinion! The beef was expertly seasoned and cooked with fresh not frozen pea pods and onions. The double sided noodles were not expected as they seemed dry but then once marinated in the sauce from the chicken it was fabulous! We also had to obviously have egg rolls and some potstickers. My friend had to have her prerequisite hot and sour soup that I didn't take a picture of, but they were happy with it. Try this restaurant out, the staff was super friendly without constantly dropping by, just enough to refill water glasses and c h deck in on us.

We had a later lunch and by the time we left, there was still a long line to get in. It has a nice variety of dishes to select from. One of our favorite parts of the buffet is the hibachi area - my husband, our older son and I all had our own selection of ingredients stir fried for noodle dishes. There are many tables available for seating and the servers are nice but super busy.

Tried Super Moon Buffet this evening and I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the $150 was…read morefor... because it definitely wasn't the food or the experience. Let's start with the obvious: it's a buffet. We're getting our own plates, our own refills, doing the whole "DIY dining" thing. Fine. But for that price, you'd expect at least decent food. Instead, it was bland, forgettable, and sitting somewhere between lukewarm and questionable. Now the part that really sealed it: as we were literally getting up to leave, an employee approached us and demanded a tip. Not suggested. Not politely mentioned. Demanded. Then another staff member came over, pointed at the receipt, and told me I needed to tip. I'm actually a generous tipper, happily so, when it's earned. But being confronted like that? That's not service, that's pressure with a side of audacity. I even tried to clarify, thinking maybe gratuity wasn't included and I misunderstood. I was told, "No, service is completely separate." Okay... then maybe make that crystal clear somewhere? A sign, a note, literally anything. I would have gladly run to my car to grab cash and come back if it had been handled respectfully. But after being cornered and told I had to tip? Absolutely not. If your business model relies on tipping, act like it. Don't ambush customers on their way out like they're skipping out on a bill. Between the overpriced, underwhelming food and the aggressive tipping situation, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while.

This is our go to for great Chinese food (we had it delivered via Grubhub this time, free delivery, thanks to Amazon Prime). The food came piping hot and consisted of Cream Cheese Wontons done right. Crispy, not soggy, and actually had real prepared hot mustard, not the stuff in a packet. Not greasy at all. The wife got the garlic chicken, extra spicy. The chicken was spicy hot, and the veggies crisp. Just be aware that there are thinly sliced wood ear mushrooms (for those that don't like fungus). Tasty! I got the Prawns in Garlic Sauce, extra extra spicy. It was a mirror of the chicken dish, but came with a lot of perfectly cooked plump shrimp. Like I mentioned earlier it was very hot temperature wise, and the burn to my upper palate was worth it when I dipped into it. The portion size is excellent, with enough food per container for at least two meals per entree. The prepared mustard was excellent as well, and cleaned out the sinuses. For those of you that don't like the sinus clearing mustard, mix a little with the sweet and sour sauce. It adds a nice tang when dipping. This was a great meal to celebrate the beginning of spring break! My wife was happy as well (she's a 2nd grade teacher) and was a bit hangry when she came home. As for me? I'm retired. Everyday is Friday!!!

A Trip Down Memory Lane at 50th & France: Supporting a Neighborhood Icon…read moreThere are some places that don't just serve food; they serve memories. For me, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant at 4515 France Ave S is exactly that. I've been coming here since the 1980s, back when I was just a small child peering over the tables. Walking in today, I was struck by how the place is still absolutely filled with wonderment. Even though it's now under its second owners, that soul of the neighborhood remains perfectly intact. The Classics Never Fade This visit, we leaned into the staples that have kept this place a local favorite for over 40 years: Kung Pao Chicken: Perfectly balanced heat and crunch. Chicken White Rice: Simple, clean, and the perfect canvas for their sauces. The "Legit" Sauces: You know a place is the real deal when the spicy mustard has that proper kick, the chili paste is rich, and the sweet-and-sour for the veggie spring rolls is exactly how you remember it. As I sat there, I couldn't help but reminisce about my "all-time" favorites from years ago--the Mushu Chicken, the Mushu Pork, and of course, the legendary Flaming Duck. Passing the Torch It's heartening to see that while the ownership has transitioned, the business is as solid as ever. Throughout our meal, there was a steady stream of takeout orders heading out the door--a true sign of a small business that the community continues to wrap its arms around. The best part? Getting to share it with the next generation. My seven-year-old gave it a definitive two thumbs up. Why We Support Local Great Wall has been a fixture of the Minneapolis/Edina border since 1981. In an era of ever-changing food trends, there is something deeply special about a spot that maintains its consistency and "old-school" charm. It's a reminder that supporting our local small businesses isn't just about the meal; it's about keeping the history of our community alive. Even though I've traded the Twin Cities for California, Great Wall remains a non-negotiable landmark on my itinerary every time I return. It's more than just a meal; it's a connection to my roots. Distance might change where I live, but it hasn't changed the fact that this is a must-stop whenever I'm back in Minneapolis. If you're lucky enough to live just around the corner, don't take this gem for granted! If you haven't been back in a while, or if you're looking for a reliable spot for your next family dinner, give Great Wall some love. Let's keep this local gem going for another 40 years! #GreatWallMinneapolis #50thAndFrance #SupportLocal #MinneapolisEats #RetroMinneapolis #CommunitySmallBusiness #ChineseFoodNostalgia
