Before I explain this experience I would like to mention how wonderful Sevena at Leeba on Comm ave. She does an outstanding job every single time I've always have a pleasant professional experience with her when I get a wax at Leeba on Comm Ave. I usually come to the Summer Street location for hair services with Adam who does an amazing job every single visit. I came to this location recently for a Brazilian wax and the woman who did it ruined the entire salon for me. She kept double dipping and using the same stick on me for the entire service. I explained to her it was unsanitary and she insisted she changes the stick for every person. I completed a cosmetology program this year and I know you're supposed to use a different stick after it comes in contact with the skin. She didn't even have professional products to remove the wax residue after, nor did she take proper care to remove it thoroughly with the over the counter products she had. A couple days later I noticed pieces of wax left on my skin from poor wax residue removal and when it came off it took off my skin with it. This caused scars from the wax on my private area. I was so upset I will never get another wax here again nor will I recommend anyone get a wax here. I had high expectations considering all the hair stylists do an amazing job here and Sevena never disappoints me at the same salon on Comm Ave. I've been coming here for a few years and I loved my experiences but this one scared me away for a while. read more

I've been growing my hair out for 4 years and have done a big chop 4 times in my life and was ready for another. I wanted to get 20+ inches off and wanted to find a reputable place to do so because it was going to be such a big change. I'm not very good at styling my hair in any way or knowing what looks good, I normally just wear it down or in a pointy tail and do nothing else to it. My sister got a new haircut and layers done at Leeba a couple of months ago and recccomended it to me. Naji did my hair and he did not disappoint. I told him the length I was looking for and he immediately got the style I was going for and even curled it for me after! I'm keeping my star rating the same, just have a few more comments since it's been a year and a half or so since my last review. I got my eyebrows waxed here today. Last time I got threading done for the first time and that was quite the experience. This time around though I opted for standard waxing- simply because I feel like I have to really be in the ~zone~ mentally in order to handle threading- and today just wasn't that day for me. Ruby (I think?) did my eyebrows- she was efficient and did a fantastic job and was so sweet- so as far as service goes I was again very impressed and satisfied. I was a little miffed however that someone didn't put in my appointment. I had called for a 12:30 appointment the day before, called the correct Leeba location, but when I came in today there was no record. Normally this would really bug me naturally- but the receptionist was super nice and just had me run down ahead of schedule to get my brows done anyway. I am super curious about how the hair services are here after reading reviews. I'm *almost* tempted to cancel my appointment at James Joseph and try out Leeba for a haircut too... shh don't tell them. We'll see. read more

Ok, I work around the corner and hadn't visited in 6 months as I just didn't like the facade of the salon. But it was different this time. I decided to get my dirty blond hair, very darkened by another salon, fixed and some of the color out of there and a partial foil. And what salon it is really doesn't matter. It is the stylist you get who is the most important piece. They make or break your experience, no matter what tranquil environment pulled you in. And Diane made my experience. I got partial foils and a color (to slightly lighten all my roots so the contrast wasn't so harsh per Diane's suggestion) and it looks AMAZING. I did not get a cut so I cannot give guidance of that, except always bring an image if possible. I have been getting my hair foiled for a while (a LONG while) and know when it looks good and when it doesn't, and she did it an amazing job. If your blond and like it foiled but fairly light, she seriously did a great job. AND IT WAS $85.00 (obviously I gave her a big tip because I was so happy) This is a special right now, but they said normally it would be $120. Totally reasonable. So go see Diane. She rocks, and was sensitive to all of my concerns and questions about the color and other issues. :) I am def going back and she will be my regular hairstylist! read more

I've already dreaded going to the hair salon because I have super thick and a lot of hair. Whenever I dye it, it takes at least 6 hours so I would only go back once a year max because I cannot stand the long wait. When I gave up dying my hair, I'd still only visit a salon every 1.5 years because I'm dissatisfied with the haircuts I've received. So I tried Leeba and it was a life changing experience. I've met Alexandra and she was quick (3 hours instead of 6), gentle, and patiently thorough when she does my highlights and haircut. For the first time ever, I've received so many compliments! FIRST TIME EVER! So now I've been coming back every 3 months because of her. This has never happened before so Alexandra is out of this world! I honestly can say I can't live without her. Great stylists, but off-putting customer service: I had a very pleasant experience at Leeba salon a few weeks ago. I hadn't had a haircut since I moved here almost a year ago, and I was desperately searching for a salon to tame my mane. I made an appointment the day before, and when I arrived, I was greeted warmly. I used a Groupon, which was redeemed when I walked in, and I was quickly seated in a chair to discuss my hopes & dreams, and then moved to the sinks to get my hair washed. Sam did an amazing job on my curly, quite unruly hair!! I seriously stood up from the chair feeling like a beauty queen. When I went to the front to get change for the tip however, the man working was extremely rude to me. He said that I never payed him and accused me of lying when I politely explained that I redeemed the Groupon with another employee when I walked in. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He even followed me outside so that I would come back to point at the employee that redeemed it.. there were only 3 people working there that morning.. he should have just asked his colleagues.. Elie is amazing! I finally found my go to hairdresser in US... He listens carefully to what you ask him to do and wouldn't hesitate to give you his advice and I guarantee you will not regret if you take it! It's my second experience here in the salon, I added hair color to the cut this time and I LOVE it! He suggested to do the Balayage in addition to the cut to give me a fresh look. He was very nice to fit the balayage in to his tight schedule and I left the salon with a big smile :) He uses very good products that leaves your hair even better than natural un-dyed hair! Two of the best haircuts I've ever had! I first came into Leeba Salon after purchasing a Groupon deal for a women's haircut with a wash, deep condition and blowout included (which was a crazy deal). I was super excited to go to a higher end salon for the first time, but was afraid they might be annoyed I was scoring such a deal, luckily that was not the case at all. Both times I called to make an appointment, and upon showing up for my appointment I was seen immediately which is a plus since the first time I went on my lunch break from work. Naji who cut my hair was amazing, patient and made sure I knew what I was asking him to do. He always made sure the length was right as he continued to cut which felt nice that he was being so attentive. No awkward small talk which is also a plus for me since I'd rather they focus on my hair and less about entertaining me. My second time there I showed a photo of the last cut I got there saying I wanted to similar cut. Naji got the same look down to the T and I absolutely love it! I used to get my hair highlighted in my neighborhood, and it was okay, but a coworker in my Downtown Crossing office showed up one day with a truly wonderful cut and color. I thought she looked great, and I asked her where she went. She said she went to Elie at Leeba around the corner. My coworker takes her hair super-seriously and will complain if she is unhappy with her cut and color, so I trust her opinion. I am grateful that I did so. Elie saw my highlights and convinced me to try a slightly lighter shade. I was a bit nervous about being too blonde, but the shade he picked was absolutely perfect. He also explained each step of the process because I like to know what is going in my hair, and the results were incredible. My coworkers complimented me! This post is specifically for a Brazilian wax. I came to my appointment a bit early and the receptionist was very nice and told me that I couldn't be taken early. I walked around the area for a little while and came back. She was able to take me immediately. Gina is a wonderful and skilled esthetician. She explained what she did before or while she was doing it so I wouldn't be surprised. She used small strips of wax so that it wouldn't be painful. I also added in a lip wax which she easily accommodated and went over it with thread. She is very good about not leaving any hair, whether that means going over with thread or tweezers. She added some rose water on my skin to keep the irritation to a minimum which totally helped! I was in and out within 20 minutes. The only thing I didn't like was that you can't leave tip on your card, so make sure you bring cash! read more

I initially had high hopes. I wanted to get pink highlights for the summer -- I did some research, I made a Pinterest board of examples, I had an exact shade in mind, and I called ahead and specified that I wanted *pink* hair, and the woman on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem. They were able to schedule me for an appointment quickly, and I went in during, what was supposed to be my lunch break. The stylist was 20 minutes late to the appointment, which didn't bode well, but I was so excited about my hair, I didn't think too much of it. In retrospect, I should have realized that the stylist didn't speak very much English at all. I thought she was just quiet, but she was nodding and agreeing with everything I was saying, so I wasn't too concerned. I showed her some pictures of the shade of pink I wanted, another stylist (one who spoke English as a first language) came over and discussed the shade with me as well. So I thought I was good there. Then I showed the stylist a couple of pictures of blonde highlights and specified that was the *style* of highlight I wanted -- not the color. I pointed out features that I liked, switched back to pink hair colors, and said "This color, but with highlights spread out like so-and-so" While my hair was processing, the stylist worked on other customers. It was frustrating -- I'm in foils, asking things like "how much longer" She says "Oh, 5 or 10 minutes" and 20 minutes (and another customer later) I finally have to get someone to make sure she didn't forget about me. This happened a couple times. Sometimes, she'd mysteriously leave without saying anything. It took three (THREE) hours to color my hair -- and this is before styling or anything. So she takes the towel off, and I have blonde hair. Fucking blonde hair. I was like "wait... is this the pre-lightning so you can get the right shade of pink?" She's like "What are you talking about? You wanted blonde." How on earth do you screw that up? I discussed the exact shade with her and another stylist for several minutes -- did she just forget while she was running around working with other customers or something? So I'm sitting there with wet hair, it's a color I don't like, I was supposed to get back to work an hour ago, and I just start crying. The manager comes over, says "We can fix this" and immediately brings me over to the sink and puts pink goop all over my hair. I'm doubtful (honestly, I have no idea what he's doing), but he promises me, repeatedly, that everything will be fantastic and fine, and not to worry. So I'm covered in ugly hot pink goop (It's not even the color of pink that I wanted -- forget about the exact style of highlights I had in mind) He spends another 20 minutes on my hair, trying to fix this. At some point, he starts to realize the futility of his effort and goes from "promising it will be fantastic" to saying things like "it will fade and be a better color. Maybe don't wash it this weekend while the color sets." I get set in a chair for styling. The manager dries my hair, and now I have splotchy, faded orangey-pink spots in random places with, maybe 2 crappy-looking highlights around the bottom. Also, my scalp is bright pink. "Don't wash your hair this weekend" my ass. Four hours, not just wasted, but making me look like a wreck. I didn't even have time to let him style it -- I just asked him to blow dry it real quick, and I had to get back to work (everyone just thought I had left for the day, at that point). It turns out, they only had semi-permanent pink dye (in only one awful fuschia shade) in stock, so after a few days/washes, it came out. I don't know what I was thinking, but they did offer to fix their mistake and set me up with another appointment over the weekend. I agree, and make a new appointment. So the appointment's made, but then they call me up that night, and say "actually, we're not going to have the right product for you that day. Can you make an appointment during the week?" (during my work day, which... no way in hell I'm doing that again). I make an appointment for next weekend, instead. During the week, I came to my senses, and realized I never want to step foot in that place again. Terrible service, zero communication, and they can't even get an "I'm sorry we fucked up your hair and wasted four hours of your life"-apology appointment straight. read more

My friend and I both bought a Groupon, I've never done Keratin before so I thought I'll give it a shot. Well, when I arrived and I told the receptionist I have a Groupon, the stylist rolled her eyes at me...other than the gentleman at the front desk, everyone else were rude. Then when my friend arrived, they said they can only take one of us cause not all stylists accept Groupon. (Did I mention the salon was pretty empty with a lot of stylists just standing there???) He said the receptionist is new and didn't know. Later the gentleman said he found a stylist that can take us both (alternate between?) and asked us to wait....45min later, still no stylist. I can't wait the entire night...so I left. This is totally unacceptable. I actually went to withdraw extra cash to tip at full price...yet I was treated like a second class citizens. If you don't like Groupon clients, then don't do Groupons. I cannot recommend this place. If you use a Groupon, the chances of you getting a subpar haircut/keratin is extremely high. Diane quickly assessed my hair situation and made recommendations based on her observation. Yes, my bangs were cut too far back, and yes I wanted it blended in as much as possible! She did not try to push products or other services aside from mentioning their colouring options (my hair looks like candy corn on the underside). I told her it wasn't in the budget right now and she didn't bring it up again! Apparently many of her clients are coworkers of mine so we had plenty to talk about (all good things of course because my coworkers are great! *Seriously, not sarcasm*). I met her back in her Sun city days and she is the best. I have not had anyone touch my eyebrows (not even my own hand with a tweezer since. well, ok, once when I was on a cruise and was in the middle of the ocean and felt like I needed some help). But guess what: Roju knew when I came back that I had foresake'd our perfect eyebrow plan. She knew! that's how good she is. This is better than waxing, better than tweezing. I promise. It's worth the money because eventually if you follow her rules- for real- your eyebrows will grow in more fine. Mark my words. It's going on 5 years and like I said before when she worked at that place that rhymes with "funkitty" (back in the days when it was only $10) in Harvard square: one day Roju will be in my entourage. You never forget your first threading! Doesn't that sound a little dirty? I know! I stopped in Leeba on my lunch break on an otherwise ordinary Friday afternoon, with the hopes of getting my eyebrows and lip waxed. The words 'long overdue' would not have done my then-state of affairs justice. I approached the reception area with understandable embarrassment and caution, and asked if there were any available appointments. Someone was awfully late for their scheduled appointment, so Chewbacca, party of one, was escorted down a narrow staircase into the basement and brought into the special room.... I don't even know how to properly refer to the woman who proceeded to work on me -- the Threader? Madame Threadeau? -- but she took one look at my face and basically said something to the tune of, "get ready, wild ride ahead" (or maybe it was just, "are you ready" but everything was a blur, I swear). I have had my eyebrows and lip waxed since I was a young, impressionable twelve-year-old with hair that would rival James Brown's on a hot, summer day.... so to say that what would happen next would exceed any expectation I'd ever had with relation to my face and removal of hair therefrom is the understatement of the year.... I see what I think is a long piece of dental floss in her hands and to be honest, I kind of chuckled to myself at the thought of someone flossing prior to an eyebrow wax.... She takes the string and suddenly, it feels like little centipedes are dancing on my face! I could barely muster up the courage to whisper to her, "what kind of wax are you using?" Oh, threading, what a treat! What a gloriously painful but absolutely amazing treat. I say this after, of course. During, I was plotting revenge. First on her, and then on Leeba Salon, and then on my mom for giving me the James Brown Hair gene, and then ANYONE who wasn't being threaded at the time. But Madame Threadeau, she was thorough, and talented, and my eyebrows never, ever looked better. And we're talking more than 18 years of people shaping them with wax and tweezing them to their hearts' content. And the eyebrows, post-threading, looked great for over a month. Strongly, highly recommended for anyone with a moderate to high tolerance for pain. Not for the inexperienced waxer or for someone who thinks that waxing is extremely painful. I made an appointment for 10am on a few days ago when I had a very tight schedule. The stylist was at least 20 min late, sauntered in when he finally did arrive, and was minimally apologetic. Then, he tried to pressure me into a cut, condition, color and blow dry in 45min ("I can do it quickly!" -- Um, that's a TERRIFYING and HORRIBLE idea.) after I told him that I only wanted the cut and would need to reschedule the color. The stylist wouldn't accept my "no" until I told him that I was pissed off and needed him to hear what I was saying. The cut was ok. When the stylist finished blow drying my hair, I had to tell him that it bothered me that there were pieces of my hair in the front that were sticking straight up in the air -- please use some hair product. However, it seems to me that a professional would know to do these things himself. Overall, I left agitated and very dissatisfied. NEVER AGAIN read more

I just had my hair MURDERED at Leeba Salon. John murdered my hair. If I could, I would give less than one star, but since I have to, I'll give the lone start to the appearance of the place. It is mostly modern, high ceilings, some exposed brick, a little IKEA-ish, but nothing to complain about. I was super early for my appointment, but was seen to immediately. John introduced himself, took me back to wash my hair (I had to take my purse with me because I was not offered a place to put it), and then the horror started. Having John wash my hair was like having giant sausage fingers stabbed at my head repeatedly. The best way to describe it was roughly manhandled. Usually this part of getting your hair cut is relaxing, sometimes you even get a nice head massage. No dice at Leeba. When he was done beating my head to a pulp, he toweled it off as though I was a dog, rubbing viciously like my boyfriend probably would do if I asked him to dry my hair. Plus...I still have shampoo and conditioner still in my hair hours later. It gets worse. I told him I just wanted the ends cleaned up, nothing else. Dead ends off, that's it. He started with my bangs, strange in and of itself, but after roughly getting my hair in the right position, he just lobbed it off. Straight-up, took the scissors and chopped. He proceeded to make it worse by cutting higher on one side, and missing about half of them. I should have walked out right then, but I'm not gutsy enough to do that. Instead, I watched as he sectioned out a middle portion of my hair and cut off about 5 inches. I won't make you suffer the rest of the gory details. The whole cut finished in that style. Haphazard chopping. I wanted to cry. He said he had 15 years experience. BULL! The hair-drying portion was along the same lines. John started off by just rubbing my hair back and forth like my dad does to piss me off and pointing the hairdryer towards it...I looked like I had just been through a hurricane. He then proceeded to attempt curling my hair with a round brush, teasing, and hair-spraying. The finished "styling" was some look out of the 70's, ends flipped out, high volume on the top, flat in the middle. It's a miracle I didn't cry. At the end he told me to tell my friends about him, which I will attempt to spread all over Boston. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE - or if you do, avoid John at all costs. Result - 5 hours later my head still hurts from the beating and I'm cancelling plans for tomorrow night and having my hair emergency fixed at Salon Capri with my regular stylist. Sahara is the best hair stylist in Boston. I said it and I meant it! Whenever anyone says anything about hair, I bring her up. I can't say enough good things about her. She is so talented, so thoughtful, and so sincere. I have been going to see her every few months for almost 2 years, and I have never walked out feeling less than over the moon about my new style. She's seen me through short, curly, long, straight, natural, and highlights, and she has performed fairy godmother-level magic every single time. From what I've seen, the other stylists are just as good and command just as much customer loyalty. Everyone seems to get along, and after a long day I love going in to relax, chat, and get fawned over. The receptionist is great at getting you in at a time that works for you. You can pay with cash or credit card--no checks!--but make sure that you bring cash either way to tip your stylist. Trust me, you'll want to give them everything in your wallet when they're done with you! read more

First off, I will say that I am not really a salon kind of a guy. Im really more of a barber man. However, since I work across the street, saw that Leeba had a $17 dollar cut for first time customers on Mon, Tues, and Wed, I thought that I would try it out. It had been a while since I got my hair cut. In fact, I was living off gel to make sure it looked halfway decent for work. I had Denise as my stylist. She was nice, and friendly. She took special care to make sure that she did something "stylist like" to my hair so the "Thinness" aka balding (see my profile pic) was not too noticeable. I appreciated the extra care she took in this and then appreciated even more that she explained what she did. As a barber guy, I usually just go and get it cut. This review is ONLY for the eyebrow threading. I loved it! Just moved here from San Diego and I was so nervous to find a good eyebrow threading place. Before Leeba I had gone to a place on Newbury Street and was so disappointed. The lady that threaded my eyebrows was precise and damnnn they look good! The only downfall is it was really hot- in a basement downstairs. So maybe in the winter time it will be better. The prices were alright too..but I guess Boston is more $$ than SD. read more

This review is specifically for Leeba Salon's eyebrow service. I have not had any other services/procedures done but am considering a facial or massage service in the future. I have very sensitive and fair skin, so whenever I get my eyebrows waxed I always ensure I do not have any other plans afterward; I literally look like a victim of domestic violence after a waxing. I'm really not kidding; usually I need to pop two Tylenol and apply a cold compress because my skin swells and is bright red for the remainder of that evening. I always book the latest appointment possible and immediately high-tail it home before I run into anyone I know. One evening after work I went to Leeba Salon because my old salon had changed their hours and could no longer accommodate my after-work needs. As a walk-in, Leeba could not accommodate me that evening but scheduled me for a 6:30pm appointment the next evening with Raju. I returned the following evening ready for the usual procedure - eyebrow wax, a brisk walk home with my head down, two Tylenol, a cold compress, pajamas and TV; no going out for me. I walked to the back of the salon and down a dark, narrow staircase to the basement. The building itself is old as it is right near the Downtown Crossing T stop, characteristic of most original Boston proper buildings. Raju greeted me and settled me into the waxing chair. I closed my eyes and was instantly shocked. I was not being waxed - I was being THREADED! I had seen friends of mine being threaded before but never thought much of it. It hurt a quite bit more than waxing but I just sort of went with it. It was a pleasant change to not have hot wax ripped off my face. I was in there for about 20 minutes, the longest amount of time I've ever spent getting my eyebrows shaped (I'm not a hairy person - usually I'm in and out in 10 minutes). The experience was followed by a mini-face massage with oil. When Raju handed me the hand mirror I'm fairly certain that my jaw dropped. There was no redness, no swelling, and only beautifully shaped eyebrows. Raju smiled at me and simply said "No more waxing" in her soft, accented voice. The threading came to $18 plus tip, which seems ghastly expensive than the usual $12 plus tip that I was paying at my old salon (not including additional money for Tylenol and the traumatic evenings of icing my face on the couch). However, I'm willing to pay more for such a quality service that is so much kinder to my skin. I even went out to dinner afterward! I have been returning to Leeba every time I need to have my eyebrows shaped. I would love to give them five stars, but I think four is more appropriate because they do not readily take walk-ins and the price of this service would probably make most people balk. However, these two aspects of Leeba really do not bother me that much, though they might for some. read more

I LOVE MY HAIRCUT. Diane was very attentive and friendly. She kept my hair long, gave my hair more volume with layers and trimmed the bangs to my liking. My hair was blown out and styled so I was fresh to death walking out of the salon. Bonus! The collegiate coupon book (for college students) has a coupon for $25 - woman's wash, cut and blow dry. Convenience generally does not give the most desirable results and this was definitely a perfect example. This salon is right across from my work so I went in on a whim during a lunch break as I was desperately in need of a trim. I booked the appointment and mentioned their special for 50% off for new clients. My stylist was awkward at first and then started opening up. I go back and forth as to whether or not I prefer to talk when I'm paying for services. Most of the time I just wanna sit there and either enjoy it/not be bothered. I was fine with her though... Until she started making comments about my face. Like, over and over. She kept saying I had a fat face. Which, in all honesty, I don't. And even if I did... not really the best method to go when trying to obtain maximum tippage from customers. The cut itself was fine enough but I wasn't asking for any styling or something fancy. Just a simple trim. Then at the end, the queen who was either the owner or just acted like the owner tried to over charge me and then acted like he did me a huge favor by lowering the price down (to something that was still twice as much as the original agreed upon amount). I'm not sure why a chain charges so much for a haircut, and especially an OK haircut with an insult comic wielding a pair of scissors and a blow dryer for 45 minutes. Not really interested in repeating this experience. Meh. Oh and FYI - they're one of *those* businesses that don't allow tips on debit cards. read more

I saw a group on for a wash cut and dry for 48 normally 65 since I had Ria. So it's not much of a deal but a discount. I called to make sure they had availability before I bought one. Then I was suggested not to buy and come in and I'll get the discounted price. I had an appointment the very next day, Great. I walk in and greeted and it would be just a mintue that the "drag queen" was going to take care of me. Odd that's how he introduced himself as but he was fun. But then when he heard I was a discount he pawned me off saying oh she double booked him. So that annoyed me. The response should be to have no excuse to get a haircut for that price and he should do an awesome job to win me as a regular. An discount is to get someone in the door and to come back as a regular and pay for an awesome cut. But no I was passed on to Ria. Who at first I didn't think she wanted to cut my hair. I should have left but I'm already here. Ria gets 4 stars. The salon get minus 1 for the first stylist with an awful attitude. So she was really nice asked me what I wanted and I told her how the last place didn't give me what I wanted and actually messed up my hair. She was a new stylist only there a year but had 5+ years of experience so she wasn't a true newbie. She was attentive, took her time and gave me the cut I wanted. The other stylist even asked her why she was taking so long with me. And her response is I had a bad experience and she wants to make sure I'm happy. She didn't check her phone or rush me out. I am happy with Ria and glad I stayed. I noticed while I was there that many stylist where checking there phone as they had a client. That's totally unprofessional and their paying full price for a uninterested stylist. And this is why I wanted to pay to pay a discount to see what kind of place this is before paying a full price. But Ria is worth coming back to for full price. She did an awesome job and I left happy. Plus my haircut request is not an easy one. A stacked Bob with an asymmetrical sharp edge look. Worst haircut I ever got. It's really tough to screw up hair like mine, as it's short, and really easy to cut. The guy mastered to give me the worst, uneven haircut I've ever gotten in my life. My girlfriend made me go to another hairdresser the same evening as the cuts were so uneven and messy that it looked horrible + I spent another $30 to fix my hair! The Leeba stylist put some gel in my hair to mask it up, but as soon as I showered, I noticed zig-zags cut into my hair. After all, this 'stylist' wasn't even paying attention to the hair on my shirt and jeans after he was 'done', so I had to ask for a small towel to wipe the hair off. The atmosphere in the saloon was really tense for some reason... no radio, no music, nothing. Not customer friendly at all I guess. The only positive I can think of was their front desk/receptionist, a young lady who was very professional, nice and smiling when I came in. Then the other "stylist" right behind her was addressing stuff with her in a very rough way. Only that made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it wasn't their best day, but I don't care. the only and last one they've seen me at their place. Not sure about you, but I will never go back. btw. not sure why they advertise men's cuts for $17 and charge $25. Maybe I missed something on the sign they're displaying, but I got the most basic cut I could get - no shampoo, no blow dry, just a terrible cut with a clipper and a few moments ruining it with their scissors... read more

FAB-U-LOUS. I came to this Leeba because of my growing dissatisfaction over the threading situation at the other Leeba ( Allston/Brigton location) salon. The lady here, Rozua, is fabulous. She did a great job, was very through, checked to make sure I was doing OK, and even gave me a mini facial massage at the very end. unbelievable!! and less expensive then compared to the other Leeba location. Ha maybe someone did not get the memo, but the new administration has made water boarding illegal. But maybe some intelligent lawyer told Leeba that the decision applied only to prisons and not hair salons. So in the name of a "hair wash" prior to the haircut, the "hair stylist" (I try to be PC) decided to try to subject me to water boarding. Every time I have been here, the "hair stylists" have always been reluctant to cut men's hair which may be influenced by the amount of money you get as a tip. I however do go here when I need a quick cut because this is one place where with a walk-in you are guaranteed to have some one free to cut the hair. read more

Elie is the best hair stylist I've ever had. I've gone to him twice now and my haircut has been perfect both times. He manages to give my curly hair shape, and when I say shape I mean it in the good way rather than the triangle, mushroom, bowl, and bell shapes I'm used to getting. I have full confidence that he will never give me the shaggy mullet I've gotten so many times elsewhere. Going to Elie is a huge ego boost! Today, he told me I was beautiful BEFORE he finished with my hair, and while he may say that just to say it, I think it was a nice touch. The first time I saw him, he gave me advice on length based on my face and body. I'm tall, broad shouldered, and not a small person. Let's face it, it can be pretty easy to say the wrong thing and make a big gal feel bad, but Elie was really great about it. I felt like he was telling me how to maximize my potential rather than it coming across like there was something wrong with the way I looked . I appreciated that he gave me the advice he did because he was absolutely right. My hair cut frames my face and body really nicely. Watching Elie cut my hair is awesome. He pays attention to each snip and really looks at what he's doing. I actually think he cares more about my hair looking good than I do. He even noticed the first time how unevenly my hair had been cut previously. Elie usually blows it out straight, with some serious precision I might add, and although I never wear it straight, it's a fun treat to look like someone else for an afternoon. I usually go on my lunch break and everyone at my office always raves about my hair when Elie gets done with it. This is the first time since I moved to the Boston area (7 years ago) that I've found a stylist that I want to keep going back to. read more

I have really sensitive skin, I'm a terror with tweezers, and I like to have nice eyebrows. The last time I got them waxed, I had lovely burn marks where the offending hairs had been removed (I did not have them waxed at Leeba, if you're starting to wonder why I gave the place 5 stars while launching into a story about how they scorched my face) which did not make me happy. So what's a girl to do? THREADING. Threading is is an ancient method of hair removal which originated in parts of India, the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in Western countries. (thanks wikipedia!) Pretty much, they use thin cotton threads to remove hair in a manner that is faster than getting tweezed, more accurate and symmetrical than getting tweezed, and generally leaves less room for error and looks fantastic. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded at Leeba for about a year now and I couldn't be happier. They are courteous, the wait time has never exceeded 5 minutes past my appointment, and they usually alway seem to have room in their schedule to fit me in. The attention to detail has always been sublime, and I've always left happier with my appearance than when I came in (I can be somewhat lax about touching them up), and my wallet hasn't been in any pain either.
