Lee's China in Texarkana sits at a steady three stars on Yelp -- not a warning, not a promise. Just... there. My plan was simple: order something bulletproof. Egg drop soup and pork-and-shrimp spring rolls. Low risk. Except when I ordered the spring rolls, I was told they're actually chicken. Not pork. Not shrimp. Chicken. Plot twist. I declined. I'd tried calling ahead -- the phone rang endlessly -- so I ordered in person. I patiently sat near the dining room. It's clear this is a largely take out (Grubhub business). Mr. Lee was nowhere to be seen. I'm guessing he moved away decades ago. The people working there now looked like would easily work at a Taqueria. The soup appeared almost immediately, clearly prepped and waiting for its moment. I asked for crispy noodles. "No, that's all you get." Now, the soup. This was not a delicate, silky egg flower broth. This was Campbell's Hearty Chicken Noodle... minus the noodles. Bamboo shoots. Water chestnuts. Peas. Big chunks of chicken. And celery -- which feels like a bold editorial choice in egg drop soup. Price: $8. Ambitious for what I assumed would be a side. Instead, I got a full entrée disguised as a classic. Was it bad? No. Was it egg drop soup? That's debatable. I didn't try anything else out of fear but three stars feels right. If you enjoy culinary reinterpretations, this might be your spot. Family went to location for lunch yesterday. After reading reviews was hopeful for a good experience. When we got our soup (2 egg drop, 1 hot and sour) they tasted like they opened a can of Campbell's chicken and stars and took out the stars and added peas, carrots and celery. We each ordered something different so we could try a few things. We had the sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken and orange chicken. sweet and sour had no flavor at all, we are talking like drinking water no flavor. sesame chicken was edible. Barely. The orange chicken was very disappointing. I do not write reviews and know every restaurant has an off day and that my tastes are not everyone else's. But to say I have had better frozen food of each is an understatement. We each did not eat more than a few bites of each plate and left the rest. The service was mediocre at best. Waitress came back to table one time and asked if we wanted a refill on 3/4 filled glasses. The rest of the time they stayed in the back or on cellphones. read more

Worst Chinese I've had. We ordered wonton soup, beef and broccoli, veg lo mein, and pork fried rice. Received egg drop soup, chicken fried rice, beef and raw broccol, and lo mein that looked like ramen. called the restaurant and was told I received wknton soup, that's how it's made, said it WAS pork fried rice when I offered to send pictures because we live a bit far from the restaurant I was told NO I have to bring the food to them. spent $70 and it all went in the garbage. I've been coming here my entire life. They've never changed the recipes or the ambiance. Here and there, they've moved tables and things like that but it's always been reductionism and the same. Even the people who work there haven't changed. I always know that when I go there to get the Almond chicken and hunan chicken with the sizzling rice and hot and sour soup. Truly delicious! My daughter was in town and wanted to visit a favorite restaurant. This is not the Lee's China we fondly remember. It took ten minutes to be acknowledged and seated. We ordered our favorites, Ming's Beef and Almond Chicken. Neither tasted as it had in the past. The room was dark, the food was mediocre at best, and the service was below par. We always order Mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. We spend upwards $50.00 plus Togo. The Mongolian beef was meat and green onions on rice sticks. No sauce. The shrimp fried rice was flavorless. We called to complain and stated we wanted our money back. The lady said she had to call her boss and kept telling my husband to stop yelling at her. He wasn't yelling at all. Then the phone hung up. We will never go back there again. I guess we need to find another place in town to go to. It was very disappointing. When told staff member about menu price online vs person she replied not my menu but did not care to take my order that i had told her had came from online. Sorry to "poo poo" on the previous entries platters, but I've had microwavable chinese food that tastes better than this place. Once again I go with the "non screw-up staple" of chinese food: Combo Fried Rice and my date went with the pepper beef and steamed rice. Well both of our rice portions tasted like we were eating the pegs off of a Battleship game. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dry that it hurt to swallow (sorry cough syrup commercial reference) and the ambiance was mind-numbingly dull.
