Loved the Lodge decor & space, coffee station in lobby & daily choc chip cookies in the lobby. We used the game room, the indoor pool, the hang out areas. Favorite spots were the beach, snack shack, deck overlooking the lake. Beach swim area PERFECT for toddlers!! The sand was great & resort provided beach toys, chairs & beach towels (so helpful!). Loved the open grassy areas, fire pits & cute chairs, playground & mini golf. Only gripe was our lower level rooms were musty & water stain on shower ceiling (Rm 211) - would be easy to fix that stain. Daily housekeeping for the rooms is included but slow (I had to request it 3 times in one day; finally done around 4:30pm). Overall we would totally recommend this resort. VERY family-friendly! We made terrific memories & would definitely return. I just think a bit more refreshing of the rooms would elevate the experience to remove the negatives.

We had plans to ski nearby Gore Mountain but the wind and a -40 degree windchill kept us from the slopes. This turn of events left us with more time than we expected at the lodge. Lucky for us, there were plenty of available on-site activities to keep us cozy and entertained. Highlights included: - Indoor heated pool & jacuzzi: What a luxury in the dead of winter! Spacious indoor area with large windows to house their pool, kiddie pool, and jacuzzi. Lounge chairs, tables, etc. Ample supply of pool towels, easy access to bathrooms, and separate changing areas so you don't have to walk through the lodge in your suit. - On-site activities: Board games available with ample seating near a fireplace. Large bar area. Group activities like bingo. The list goes on. - Comfortable rooms with useful amenities: Large televisions (great as the Olympics were on!), soft beds, mini fridge, Keurig, and the like. - Proximity to Downtown Schroon Lake: Although there was dining available on-site, it was nice to have a number of restaurants to select from 5 minutes down the road (and a stellar view of the frozen lake anytime you're pulling out of their property). - Hot drinks & snacks: I enjoyed some free cookies and hot beverages available in their lobby and main bar area on several occasions. Speaking of their property, the drive in among their towering trees is impressive. Lots of variety in the type of accommodation you can book. Ample parking. Great with snow removal and ensuring guests can get in and out. Staff were very helpful. Only snafu we encountered was right at check in. The heater in our first room sounded like a jet engine taking off with an incurable rattle. It was late but the front desk was very responsive and moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the room was quite a trek and was only accessible via stairs (which was a bummer as we had quite a few things we needed to drag in). To our delight, on trip 2 to our vehicle, the front desk stopped us and offered a 3rd but much closer room that became available after a last minute cancellation (which we gladly accepted). They didn't have to do that but we really appreciated them keeping us in mind. We were also granted a slight extension on checkout given our change in plans. Would definitely stay here again!

We booked our stay early in the year for June to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday…read more Unfortunately, while driving to the resort, we experienced a medical emergency and had to cancel the trip. When we called the Sagamore, I was genuinely impressed by how empathetic and accommodating the staff were on the phone. Instead of enforcing a strict cancellation policy, they allowed us to reschedule for a later date when we were ready. Many businesses would not have been so understanding, and they deserve full credit for their excellent customer service. We eventually rescheduled during peak season. While that wasn't ideal because it cost nearly twice as much as our original June booking, we viewed staying at a resort like the Sagamore as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and decided it would be worth it. Check-in was smooth and efficient. We received a map of the property and information about resort activities and amenities. Our villa was farther from the main resort than we would have preferred, but the walk was scenic and enjoyable. We stayed in a Hermitage Suite, and I wish I had paid closer attention to the layout before booking. There is only one bathroom, which is located upstairs and accessible through the master bedroom. Having no half-bath on the main floor, especially where the secondary sleeping area is located, is a poor design choice. Additionally, if our son slept on the pull-out sofa, it completely blocked access to the patio, where we had hoped to relax in the evenings after he went to sleep. Since there was plenty of space in the master bedroom, we asked whether cots were available, but they were not. We ended up creating a makeshift bed upstairs using couch cushions. It wasn't ideal, but it allowed us to enjoy our evenings without being confined to the bedroom for the entire week. Our biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of soundproofing. The walls were so thin that it felt as though the units were separated by curtains. We could hear everything from neighboring rooms: conversations, children yelling, people running up and down stairs, alarm clocks, televisions left on all night, and more. For a property positioned as a luxury resort, this was extremely disappointing. There were also several smaller issues throughout our stay. The toilet paper holder constantly dropped the roll, the thermostat repeatedly reset itself to 75°F, the Wi-Fi was unreliable, and the TV frequently lost signal. We only contacted staff regarding the Wi-Fi because I needed to handle an urgent work matter and about the TV because our son wakes up very early, and we hoped to let him watch a show while we caught up on sleep. The resort grounds themselves were pleasant, though not exceptional. We enjoyed spending time at the lake. The pool, however, appeared cloudy on our first visit and could benefit from additional maintenance. We appreciated the complimentary rides on the Morgan ferry and wish we had taken advantage of all three tour options to experience more of the lake. The recreation center was also a nice feature for families with children, although some of the equipment and facilities could use repairs and upkeep. I want to remain fair because the resort was so accommodating when we needed to reschedule. However, based on our experience, this did not feel like a true luxury property. Service throughout the restaurants was disappointing, with staff often appearing disengaged or uninterested. What stood out most was that during our stay, we greeted dozens of employees while walking around the property and received only one response. At a luxury resort, that level of indifference is surprising. The resort hosted several large events during our visit, which appeared to be weddings. While it's easy to understand why the property is an attractive event venue, it often felt as though those events were the primary focus rather than the resort guests. Ultimately, this was the most expensive family vacation we have ever taken, and we left feeling exhausted and frustrated rather than refreshed. One final observation: I have noticed management responses to critical reviews often focus on defending the resort rather than acknowledging guests' experiences. Whether management agrees with a review or not, people are entitled to their feelings. A more empathetic response would go much further in demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. I truly wanted to love this resort, especially given how accommodating they were when we had to reschedule. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the expectations associated with the price point or the luxury reputation. Looking back, I wish I had paid more attention to reviews describing similar concerns, as many of the issues we encountered do not appear to be isolated incidents.

The property is an absolute dream and my kids could spend the entire day playing in the pool and in the lake. Rooms are a bit dated but are still clean and spacious, and I love that they have condo style rooms which make travel with small kids much easier. We usually eat dinner on property at least once, and Bella Vita is always a great option. Prices have (unsurprisingly) raised a lot though. A market price lobster roll is $45, so that was one and done! Complimentary ice cream every day and s'mores every night is a nice touch though. I wish that they did conferences in the off season. A conference started during the middle of our stay and there was a noticeable difference in how crowded the resort was. So that was kind of a bummer. Overall we love it here and look forward to this trip every year.

The Inn is run by a lovely couple Cheryl and John who couldn't have been more helpful. We originally reached out by email, which was respond to quickly. Then the email was followed up with phones for payment, which was extremely reasonable for this over the 4th. After speaking with them it felt like we had known them for years. They have a self-serve area where you can make coffee (they have Keurigs, cups, creamer, sugar, etc.), as well as good cereal, oatmeal, bread/english muffins). The rooms were suites- a large sitting area with couch, two chairs, TV, and a separate bedroom. One negative- the AC unit is in the sitting area so if you close the bedroom door at night the bedroom is not cooled. You must leave the door open when sleeping. Rooms were clean- but the disinfectant/cleaner they use has a strange smell that was a bit unpleasant. Recommend they find one that smells better. Bathroom was a typical motel bathroom- sink area, toilet, shower. Overall- good accommodations at a reasonable price (considering you ARE in a resort area).

So I checked my email and had nothing from them. Thankfully someone walked in the office and asked if I needed help. They said it was a text, not an email. I didn't receive a text either. He looked up my info and the text was sent to my home phone number. So he told me my door code. I couldn't remember that code all weekend, so I had to look it up on my phone every time, I'd rather have a key. Also, he didn't tell me how to enter it, but I figured it out. My husband had more trouble when he tried lol. Every time. That keypad is very very touchy. And the kids next door, fighting over who gets to enter the code, yelled it several times. So now the whole parking lot knows their code. I guess Shaheen's is doing a lot of remodeling. I think we had a new room? But I'm not sure if it's finished. The ceilings are painted black, trying to look elegant I suppose, but looks kinda creepy. Many white paint drips / smears everywhere, unfinished carpentry, chips on the freshly painted door. New beautiful bathroom has a large sink but it's completely flat and stuff doesn't rinse down without a ton of effort. Toilet roll is a far stretch to reach. Toilet seat is sharp, really high, and uncomfortable. I know I'm sounding picky here but it was a lot. There is zero soundproofing. Thank goodness we needed the air conditioner, it helped drown out noises from neighbors and construction. For some reason, there was a man sitting in a truck, right below our back window, smoking and playing music loudly. Two nights in a row. Not sure if he was a guest or a worker or what. Public water in the area must be brownish yellow because the new toilet always looked dirty. I noticed the same water in the lobby Keurig machine. I believe the ice machine has a filter because the ice looked clear. As we were leaving, we noticed a little old lady with oxygen was having trouble getting in her door. We watched for a few minutes then asked if she needed help. She told us her door code and we showed her how to do it, but now we have her code. So dangerous if we were the type to take advantage, thankfully we're not. The only plus - my motherinlaw called the hotel to ask if they had any amenities she could purchase for our wedding anniversary. The man said no, but he'd be happy to go get whatever she wanted. She suggested champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. He said he had to go to the store anyways, and he'd make it happen. She called the night before to make sure everything worked out, and he said he forgot! Jeez! He ended up getting a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates from Adirondack Chocolates, and even a card. A very nice touch! But we definitely won't be back.

We were greeted on arrival by two super friendly but well behaved dogs, Buddy and Bella. Our room was very clean and serenely decorated with it's own bathroom (nice claw foot tub). The sheets felt like a thousand thread count sheets if there is such a thing. No in room TV, but Linksys WiFi was there so I watched Netflix with earphones. Nice in room fireplace for ambiance. The breakfast was amazing beyond words. Everything was expertly homemade and served on a well set dining room table that sat 6. First, fresh fruit cocktail with raspberries, nuts, melon, grapes and pineapple. Second, sticky buns the likes of which I've never had. Third, croissant made with egg, potatoes and Canadian bacon. Fourth, challah French toast with local syrup. It was Mother's Day and all the ladies received a rose. Very nice hiking to the top of Mt Severance nearby. You'll love the view. Recommended if you are looking for a relaxing place with well thought, homelike touches.

Great in the summer too!…read more Went with my mother and girlfriend for a traditional Adirondack getaway and Lapland did not disappoint. In the summer this place is heaven to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and relaxing. Clean rooms, really clean. The homes or "Tupa's" are very comfortable and home like, although I guarantee you won't be spending much time inside. You can use any of Lapland's amenities such as kayaks, canoes, rowboats, mountain bikes etc - just bring your key to the lake and choose from their good selection.. I went fishing in the lake and caught a couple largemouth (released them back for you too) the lake is not overly large but is fun to explore all of the coves and shoreline. Not to mention swimming and sun bathing on a hot day, I suppose that goes without saying ! If you want a get away to roast marshmallows and have a relaxing stay, try Lapland lake instead of herding with the masses to lake George!

Positives: Contactless check-in: I booked online and received an email with my room number and door code the day before. We were able to arrive at our convenience and got into the room without any issues. Ambiance: We stayed in a 2-queen room, which was clean and modern. There were thoughtful touches throughout that made us feel welcome, like decaf coffee pods for the Keurig, a mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave with cup o' noodles and oatmeal packets, and a small entryway table. Beds: Very comfortable with plenty of bedding--sheets, a fleece blanket, and a comforter, making for a cozy winter stay. Parking: The parking right outside our room was incredibly convenient, especially with all our luggage for our brief visit as part of a much longer itinerary. We also appreciated that the lot was kept clear and well-plowed despite the snowfall. Location: Just a short distance from downtown Schroon Lake, with nearby restaurants and Lake Placid within an hour's drive. Opportunities for Improvement: Odor: There was a faint smell in the room--nothing overpowering, but noticeable. After a while, I stopped noticing it, though every time I returned, it would remind me it was there. Inconsistent water temperature: After a cold day outside, I was hoping for a hot shower but could only get lukewarm water. Later, the water from the bathroom faucet was scalding, which was frustrating. Bathroom: The bathroom could use some updating to match the rest of the room. The walls and tub were a bit yellowed, there was some dirt and dust in the corners, and there wasn't any counter space for toiletries. Overall, this is a solid place to stay if you're looking for somewhere comfortable and affordable to rest during a weekend of adventures.
