My wife and I discovered Lee's Donuts a few weeks back. We were excited to find a local spot for Vietnamese coffee and breakfast sandwiches until we realized my wife and I have received completely different customer service each time. When I have picked up our order, I'm welcomed with kind and friendly service, whereas my wife has been treated poorly every time. This morning was her worst experience yet. She was completely ignored when she walked in and was acknowledged with a mere glance when she spoke up about our order. When the owner brought over our food, she looked at my wife and very rudely asked for identification. Even with the knowledge and proof of order they didn't believe her and treated her as if she was stealing someone else's. My wife had to argue with them until they reluctantly gave her our food. After looking back and assessing the horrible service my wife has received, it seems like the owners are either racist and/or homophobic. We will not be coming back and would never recommend this establishment. read more

First timer -- and the service was amazing! Imagine an early weekend morning where it is it's busiest and your girl, Kat, is craving doughnuts She opens her trusty, dandy Yelp app and finds, Lee's Donuts. Kat enters and the place is already filled with laughter between customers and staff members. It seems like a joyous place to come first thing in the morning. She shows them a picture of a side cut view of a chocolate chip doughnut and low and behold she finds the last one from the freshest batch. It was still warm! The staff members continue to joke with her just as if she was a regular. She was told that the owner, Lee is sitting right by the window greeting each customer as they visit his store and he was. I love that this is a small town business, still thriving even during COVID. I would say 5 STARS for the service and quality of dough on the doughnut we tried. The bread was soft and fluffy. Not days old tasting like Hometown Doughnuts in Alameda. This particular type of chocolate chip donut also had a chocolate filling inside plus more chocolate chips at the center! It was an interesting vibe walking into the place - old school nostalgic and there was an older man who was opening the front door and greeting customers. My 1st visit to Lee's Donuts. I went based on prior Yelp reviews. It was a little out of the way from work, and I wouldn't have seen it if I wasn't using Google direction finder. It is situated in a strip mall and partially hidden by the mall's facade. They have a wide variety of Donuts. I also decided to order breakfast for me and my coworker. I ordered the crescent egg and cheese sandwich. I was told the crescent oil hand made fresh every morning. The sandwich was tasty. Next time, I should add bacon or sausage. Lee's Donuts sells standard run of the mill donuts. I ordered an apple fritter on my last visit and the price was $3. This is a bit pricey, but everything is pricey these days. Lee's Donuts sits in a busy strip mall at the base of Webster Street. The parking lot is hectic and crowded, but there is always a free parking spot. Many people go here early in the morning for the coffee. Never tried it myself but from the looks of the early-morning hustle and bustle, it must be pretty good coffee. read more

Been getting donuts and hot drinks here for years so my review is long overdue. The chocolate old fashioned is the absolute best I've had and I've tried them at a lot of places. Epic To-Die-For Donuts. I always make a stop at Lee's whenever I go to the Webster Street farmers market, or if I head to Crown Beach for some local nearby beach relaxation without having to drive 100 miles, pay bridge tolls, and burn through lots of $6+ a gallon gasoline. The smallish shop is tucked into a small strip mall at the very end of Webster Street. Parking is ample, but can be tight. The shop is no-nonsense with huge glass cases showing all the goods. There are so many choices, it's a bit daunting to just pick one or two. Prices are reasonable, the people working there are friendly and offer great service. The real heart of the issue here is the donuts. Pillow-y and soft, but not hollow like Krispy Kreme's. I usually gravitate towards the original glazed, and the version they do at Lee's is perfection. Yeasty, substantial without being heavy, so satisfying to bite into. There other offerings are good too, and I'm a sucker for anything chocolate covered at Lee's. Head to Lee's for some top drawer donuts - head to nearby Crab Cove or Crown Beach for a donut picnic that you'll never forget. 5 outta 5 for me. read more

I've been on the search for a yummy classic donut shop, and while Lee's is much better than others in the area (Colonial, Dream Fluff, King Pin, etc), their donuts are still just a-ok. Absolutely the best bear claws! The only thing, though, is that you gotta get here before they're sold out. Good coffee selection, too, like the Hawaiian Hazelnut flavor. Also, they make tasty donut holes and you can choose from berry filled, custard filled, or plain. Their apple fritter is pretty good and a big size. I usually come here asking for the bear claw because it is one of the best I've tasted (especially when they're freshly made)! KC is always hard at work and is friendly. Located in an unassuming little strip mall at the end of Webster street. Lee's doesn't look like much of a donut shop. It's a tiny store with a couple of seats available for customers. The name sounds generic. There's dozen's of places called Lee's, Lee's deli, Lee's sandwiches, Lee's clothing. So I automatically assumed these are the run-of-the-mill donut shops, where locals get a coffee and pastry out of convenience. But I was wrong. This Lee's donuts makes excellent donuts. My favorite that sets them apart from all other donuts shops is their donut holes! You're probably thinking, donut hole? You are excited about a donut hole? It's not just any donut hole, these donut holes come filled with custard and raspberry filling. They are little round nuggets of joy, easy to eat and share. While they make other donuts that I like, for example the giant cinnamon glazed twist and apple fritter. The filled donuts holes are the reason I will go out of my way to come to Lee's. The two ladies that work here are very nice and of course there are plenty of locals that come for coffee and donuts. But for an Oaklander like myself, it's worth the drive to Alameda to get donuts at Lee's. read more

One of the best donuts I've ever had in my 36 years of life. Been to NY, Chicago and plenty of other donut shops, but hands down, this place makes really good donuts. I only tried the maple syrup one, but it was so darn good. Fluffy, light, and soft texture. I was going to bring it home to pair with a coffee, but after the first bite, I couldn't stop. Gobbled the whole donut in a minute or so. The place looks pretty clean. They had a great selection of donuts and pastries. They also have breakfast items which I will definitely come back and try! This place is awesome. I was able to pick up 3 dozen freshly made donuts for a baby shower reception we were having at my office. When i say fresh, these apple fritters came out very hot and delicious. They also have FRENCH CRULLER's both in regular and chocolate. Where in the East Bay can you find hot and delicious french crullers and mind you, dipped in Chocolate? Here at Lee's Donuts in Alameda of course. All the donuts were freshly made, soft and really "melts in your mouth" type of donuts and not overly sweetened too with a ton of glaze, like some others spots make them. The place itself is nice and clean and they even have a few tables and chairs to sit on outside and inside too. The staff at Lee's was great too, very nice and pleasant and although they were busy, they take the time out to greet all of their customers and chit chat for a bit. Lee's has really good donuts. Like really good. Don't expect ube, and sexy toppings like fruit loops and smores. But, for an old fashioned, class donut I was super impressed. From their cake like crullers to their light and fluffy glazed, they were all super tasty. I recently put in a huge order (22 dozen donuts, y'all), and they were able to fulfill it, no problem - I did call them about 24 hours in advance, so they were ready for me! I just had to leave this very negative review on Lee's Donuts on Central Avenue in Alameda. I was just there on Saturday morning at 6:50am. At that time they hadn't gotten out their glazed donuts out yet......No problem, so I chose the following donuts: 2 Plain Buttermilk 3 Old Fashion 4 Blackberry 2 French 1 Chocolate Cake 12 Total and I understand that the 2 Buttermilk may cost a bit more The Male Clerk totals it on his IPhone and tells me it's $38.50. I thought it was a bit high, but paid anyway. After I got home, I told my wife what the total was at Lees Donut's and she thought it was a bit high. I told her I was going to go down there next week and question them. In the meantime I looked at their menu posting and thought something was really wrong! Well here comes Tuesday morning, the day after Labor Day and my wife being a local school teacher here in Alameda Texts me at 8am to tell me that one of the other school teachers went to pick up donuts at guess where.......Lee's Donuts for the whole staff and paid $80- for 4 dozen regular donuts......still a bit high at $20- per dozen, BUT not the $38.50 for the dozen I was charged for just a few days before. So my word to all customers of Lee's Donuts here in Alameda........CHECK their charges, as personally I think they overcharge on purpose. NOW, I won't' even go back there, as I refuse to allow them to entertain their BAD business practices. LOOK at how much they will lose in the future with their greed! read more
