'Classic Eggs' - soft scrambled eggs with white cheddar and avocado on a croissant
    Karen G.

I've come across this restaurant on yelp before but was never intrigued to try it. Just yesterday I was looking for a place that does Belgian waffles since my boyfriend wanted it for weekend brunch. I came across this spot and looked at the menu photos and it shows a good variety of breakfast and brunch items. Today 6/23/2024, my bf and I came to dine in (sat outside in the parklet) and we were given a small menu that had maybe 6-7 main items and appetizers/drinks. (Sorry I forgot to take a photo of it.) I was a bit confused when I saw the menu after seeing a different one on the yelp photos. I'm guessing they have a rotating menu or completely changed menu? Since we didn't order that much between the two of us, it was a quick visit. Our waitress was nice overall, service was average, and the food came out at a decent time. The food tasted good and fresh. I enjoyed sitting out on the parklet. Inside has a bar area. Restrooms are cute with blue/teal walls and brass gold accents lol. Overall 3.8 stars; I wish they had other pastries and dishes to try on this day that I went.

This review is solely on the drinks and ambiance. Such a cute place to just grab a drink and catch up. Not too busy and not too loud. Very relaxing setting. If you're just walking in park street on a nice day I recommend stopping by!

Very cute bar with great tasting foods! Names and descriptions on the menu sound pretty normal like any other brunch places, but they tasted abnormally good :-) Our favorite was chicken & mushroom skewers. Slices of scallion, creamy & salty sauce go very well with grilled Shiitake mushroom and this becomes great addition to chicken skewer. We also liked Roast beef sandwich - juicy roast beef with buttery croissant. But I actually really liked salad that comes together. There's no extra special additions, but its lime cilantro dressing makes salad simple but extra refreshing. Also had malasada donuts - I was able to try both passion fruit and peach ones (thanks to very generous staff) and I highly recommend passion fruit one. I was first bit sad to know that dinner menus that I saw from older reviews are no longer available because this place is going through management and menu changes, but very soon I got happy with the new menus I tried. Hope they continue to make more hot and heavier food options as all food we tried tasted great so far! Staffs were very friendly, and provided great suggestions. Want to revisit again on more brunch time to try other menus.

COVID 19 REVIEW   Came here for lunch during the week and sat outside in their parklet.  There are walls between you and the street, but the best part is that there isn't much traffic on this side street.  So we sat at a table under a patio umbrella.     Service was excellent.  I had a turkey and melted cheese croissant sandwich which was just fine.  It came with chips.  The sandwich probably could have used some lettuce.     I parked in the shopping center parking lot across Park Street.   I'd eat here again.

So what is this place? Sandwich shop? Wine bar? Coffee shop? Pub? Speakeasy? Kinda all of the above. Parking on Park St can be challenging so I parked in the lot across the street. Walking in, there's about 10 tables and a bar. Being by myself, I just pulled up a seat at the bar. I came for their Dirty Turkey croissant sandwich which was very good, although the mushrooms were a little overpowering. I also had the mango and friends tea which was excellent. On this Saturday afternoon, they had a guitar player which contributed to the hang-out vibe. The servers were super nice. Cool, relaxed vibe. The food was OK, prices were a little high for a sandwich but reasonable for coffee, tea, and drinks. I'd come back if I wanted to have a nice place to hang out for a while.

On Tuesday this week, I was hunting around an alternative place to eat after learning that Speisenkammer was closed for lunch (until Friday, this time of year). I was so disappointed! Well, The Preacher's Daughter popped up on my Yelp app (it's good, I recommend...lol), so 2 blocks away I went. Parking is a mess with no lot and limited metered street parking. But once inside, it's a "cute as hell" place. A bar-like setting with high-top tables in the front, and on the side, a combo of high-top and standard tables. A decor is a little dated, but it was clean and I liked. For lunch, the menu is filled with salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, coffees, and lots of beers, wines, and cocktails. A special brunch menu with eggs, waffles, scones is offered 2pm. I was disappointed to learn that they offer nothing different for the evening. C'mon, a few entrees wouldn't hurt things. A happy hour menu is offered 3pm-6pm, M-F. I ordered a Farmer's Daughter sandwich [$15, 4.0 stars] -- not offered whole wheat (my preferred), I got it on a nice toasted sourdough. There were things I liked about it: sliced granny smith apples, warm onion-thyme jam, whole grain mustard; but the turkey was good taste but not great, they use packaged already sliced cut. The side salad was only kale and arugula with a lemon vinaigrette, plain yes, but excellent quality and so healthy. I think at this point I would recommend the brunch menu, and/or coming in for drinks later on. PS. Very nice service!

I don't know how I haven't been here sooner! This super cafe is right across the Alameda marketplace so parking is ample. The decor and ambiance is super chill and perfect for a cute date or a girls brunch. The fact that the outside of the cafe looks like a typical old Alameda Victorian house adds to its charm. The menu is pretty small and limited but that means the food is delicious! (The manager said they're working on expanding) There's a separate brunch and dinner menu, but all the food I've had is so well made it doesn't really matter what time you come. Any of the croissant sandwiches are amazing and the charcuterie board is almost too pretty to eat!!There's a full bar, but the specialty cocktails always hit. The tiramisu-tini is my favorite! They also have delectable malasadas! There's also a cute outdoor section! Coming here will always result in a good time!

This is Walt's Adventures and I am Walt and I am reporting to you from the Preacher's Daughter in Alameda, California. This eatery is a hidden gem which I found to be far above satisfactory. The large cheese and Charcuterie is a meal onto itself and worthy of sharing. Usually when a presentation is so perfect, one can expect that they had reached the climactic conclusion of the dish. I guarantee you that this was not the case here for the taste of this meat and cheese board was without precedent. It was the finest that I have ever experienced. One would think that the main lunch course would be hard to follow. It did so seamlessly as if the meals were prepared by a master conductor. The Bacon Pesto Flatbread was delicious with its bread soft, the homemade potato salad made my taste buds dance and even the Mac-n-cheese had my 13 year old daughter wanting more. 4 of 5 for the bacon did detract from the cheese a bit and the Prosciutto was a little more pure for my taste. Unlike the film centered in Oz, I knew there had to be someone behind the curtain here in Alameda for magic was wielded and I will be returning for another round of perfection.

Had been wanting to try this place and I'm glad I did. A hidden gem in the neighborhood. Although there were a couple of regular tables, most of the seating were at high-top tables; I guess since it was a wine bar first before a breakfast joint. It was a bit of a challenge with little ones as the table was at their eye level and also making sure they don't slid off the seat. However with that said, it was still a kid friendly spot! The place was casual and chill. We actually met the artist that had their artwork featured at the place. That was cool! Service was ok. Although It took a while for the food to come out, it was delicious! I had the lox crostini and it was wonderful! The toasted crostini had just the perfect crunchiness and packed with flavors. The tomatoes were so fresh! We also enjoyed the croque madame, the 3 egg omelette and the bacon, egg and cheese croissant sandwich accompanied by the smooth and creamy Vanilla and Hazelnut lattes. Oh my.., the ube Bundt cake was scrumptious!!! The caramel drizzle added a touch of sweetness to this deliciousness. This is a must try!

My experience was exceptional!! They are very pleasant, the music was jammin. My husband saw what looked like filled donuts he inquired and we found out they are a Hawaiian donut calls Malasadas. They make them fresh, daily. They said they pretty much nailed it. We bought one of each to try. We were informed that they have other Hawaiian pastries at the Farmer's Market in Alameda. My husband wanted a breakfast sandwich which brought us here. They definitely nailed the Breakfast Sando!!! I did substitute the black truffle cheese for their Monterey and Jack combo. (I'm not a big fan of truffle flavor)‍ Our sandwiches were BOMB !!! Yes, we put some Tapatio hot sauce on it. Mmm mmm good!!! My husband actually said "This is the BEST breakfast sandwich I've had in a VERY LONG TIME!!!" We will be back, AND they are working on expanding their menu even more!!! We're here for it!!! Till the next time!!!

Another great visit. Alexandra is such a pleasant individual. Great service. Enjoy the outside dining and dog friendly environment. The food is amazing as always. My son ordered the omelette with chips. Little less chips would be my only suggestion. Gets too greasy. Loved my lavender latte. Very subtle but so tasty.

Drinks and food here are both very yummy, and servers are so kind! My favorite thing I've had so far might be the chocolate mousse - it's just delightful. I enjoyed all of the food I've ordered, though I found the "just Juan Kiss" to be too sweet for my liking.

It's a longtime local favorite of mine and my go-to spot for meeting up with friends--equal parts escape and comfort. The cocktail menu is impressively deep, full of beautifully crafted, fancy tiki drinks that practically beg to be explored, and so far every single one I've tried has been delicious (dangerously so). Inside, the bar nails the classic tiki vibe--warm, immersive, and transportive--while the outdoor patio offers a lovely, relaxed option with plenty of extra seating on warm days. It's the kind of place where you can linger, laugh, and lose track of time. The staff deserve a special shout-out: genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which only adds to the overall experience. A quick pro tip: if you're planning to stop by during popular after-work hours, definitely make a reservation--it fills up for good reason. The food menu is on the smaller side, but the bites are tasty and thoughtfully done, perfect for sharing alongside a round (or two) of cocktails. Thankfully the server was nice and the food we had was surprisingly good. I say this because we honestly weren't sure if their seafood cioppino would be any good given the majority of their menu featured Vietnamese dishes. Interesting combination. Like Fisherman's Wharf merged with a Pho restaurant. You can get your oysters and deviled eggs and bahn mi sandwiches here. For realz, look at the menu. Anyways I liked my cioppino. Didn't have a lot of seafood but the flavor profile was spot on and the garlic bread was decent. That's why I never want to judge a Vietnamese Fisherman's Restaurant based solely on their menu--because the food just may surprise you! The funky ambience and lovely views of the estuary and adjacent marina are still there , as is the cheap, mismatched nautical decor and the carpet that was last shampooed about the same time Marilyn Monroe's hair was. Restrooms are foul caverns of fecal dominance. Worst of all: No more peanut shells all over the floor! The food is mediocre and forgettable, but you don't go there for the food anyway. (You still can get very basic stuff, like fish and chips or steaks there if you don't crave noodles or the Ho Chi Minh platter.) All in all, a quaint, fun place to drink and nosh, especially if you sit outside. Prices are reasonable, and you can probably find something you'll like on their wine and beer list. Benedict (buttermilk biscuit, dungeness crab cakes, marinated swiss chard & beet greens, herbed hollandaise, poached eggs & mixed greens): I'm not a huge benedict person because they can feel heavy, but this one was fantastic. I loved the textures and flavors of the crab cakes pairing with the greens and vegetables. It felt balanced and not too creamy or exhausting to eat. It definitely stands out from the run-of-the-mill brunch benedict. Vegetable Hash (roasted sweet potatoes, garnet yams, sunchokes, cauliflower, cremini mushrooms, celery root & onion, savoy spinach & poached eggs): This was also delicious and also set itself apart from the standard brunch hash. I loved the different vegetables in it besides being just potatoes and onions. The mushrooms and root vegetables worked really well together. Everything was well-seasoned. I'm glad we ended up choosing these dishes even though neither were my original top choices (I decided on the menu with my friend). It made me feel like you can choose anything and it'd be a banger. We were quite full from these dishes, and we forget we also ordered beignets to come out last. They were fluffy and mostly air (but not in a bad way). The service throughout the meal was good. We were checked on from time-to-time and our waters were refilled, although I wish the water glasses were a little bigger. One small thing to note was that we were given the check while we were still eating, even though the restaurant was still seating people despite it being close to closing time. Unsure if/why we were rushed like this. Overall, this was a memorable brunch spots I've been to in the Bay (dare I say one of the best?). We left smelling like a campfire. I would recommend it.

For food, I ordered the chips and salsa and guac. The guac was very good, it tasted fresh and was a good size portion. The salsa was really good, it was chipotle tasting but had a lime tanginess to it that was unique and refreshing. They were generous with the portion of chips and the chips were thick and crispy and seasoned well with just a little bit of salt. I also ordered the impossible taquitos which came with guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. I had a great experience and look forward to coming back but would definitely be more eager to come back if they updated with more vegan options!
