DO NOT GO TO THIS MARINA! Came down to Lake Cumberland from Columbus to rent a boat and rented one for the whole day. My family paid extra for the "newer" boat that was bigger and had a diving board. Not one gauge worked on the boat, diving board was completely waxed over so was super slippery and not usable. There was no tread on the board and the handle for the board wasn't able to be used. All the seats were slashed and completely needed updated. Owner set the tone for the employees and didn't care about any concerns. Was out on the water for 2 hours out of 8 before the boat just completely stopped working. Void the payment on your credit card for the refund as the owner has no care for customer service. read more

Very steep ramp approach. Parking for boat trailers is a hike. Shuttle that at best is unsafe (doors don't close and several areas of body damage from hitting something). Filthy men and women's bathrooms. There are other close by launch areas. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Lee's Ford is a great place for boating, fishing, and docking your boats. We have enjoyed spending our R & R time here for the majority of the year for the past 3 years. Especially enjoy the friendly staff at the marina, our dock neighbors are enjoyable, marina conveniences of shuttle bus, taxi's and trash pick up are an added bonus. The perfect twist for everyone is the Harbor Restaurant for anyone to shuttle to the restaurant when the cook wants a day off or just a simple appetizer and cool cocktail! read more

Wow, we have our own place just up from Lee's Ford Marina and have been docking at Lee's Ford for over 50 years. Lee's Ford is now charging a ridiculous amount for parking on holidays and busy times (per the person that answered my call) and launching. We will be finding somewhere else for our boat. Our cabin was a very big disappointment. The place needs updated. The employees were very friendly. The owner needs to treat employees better. He talks awful to them. We had our own boat, so our experience on the lake was great. we will not use this marina again. read more

BEWARE: There a needs to be button for Zero stars given. Our truck was towed from lower parking lot on day 3 of 4 days of our stay (even with paid parking displayed clearly on rearview mirror) took forever calling to get it back. Go to the stores counter to ask about it being towed they handed me a slip of paper that just says call London Police. Called them they have NO CLUE. They call Conservation Office. Finally get call back someone would meet us at boat ramp. Was told by one of the workers this happens all the time by their security guard. It was pouring down rain, boat was still in the water what a night mare. Finally get a Conservation Officer to show up to take one of us to where truck was towed to had to do a breathalyzer test before they will take you to it. Which was no issue for our driver, takes him to a farm out in the middle of no where to pick it up. You cant pay towing with a card only by cash. Never got a receipt or anything for paying, but I have the slip and my paid parking receipts. JUST BEWARE....read all the reviews before you give this place your money. Plenty of other places on Lake Cumberland to stay. read more

There are plenty of marinas to rent from on Lake Cumberland, this is not one to consider. Rented two jet skis, both of which were in deplorable condition. One in fact had the storage compartment duct taped closed. The other was missing a side view mirror and began to alarm and malfunction after 30 minutes on the water. We were closer to Jamestown Marina and instructed by Steve, Lee's Ford GM, that we were out of their range and despite the malfunction to make sure we have the jet ski returned by 7pm. They refused to pick up the ski at the Jamestown Marina, nor send someone out to ensure we made it back to Lee's Ford safety. The owner, JD, refused to call us back and would not provide any type of refund for the waste of a day, lack of use and huge inconvenience. IT WAS CLEAR THAT JD'S PROFIT CAME BEFORE THE SAFETY OF HIS CLIENTS. read more

This review is for the marina and cottages. First, the cottages are very rundown and be prepared to bring mouse traps and sleep with the bugs. The beds are comfortable, the internet is worse than dial-up, and the showers are mainly cold water ( just remember everything is opposite on the faucet direction). The playground on the cottage side is rundown with most of the swings and teeter totter is broke. Let your kids play at their own risk. The basketball hoops are all broken. If you are planning to stay here please stay somewhere else. Don't subject your family to this. Second, the marina worst part of the trip. The rental boats are an absolute joke. They are extremely rundown. You've heard of beater cars well their pontoons and jet skis are beyond that. They are very poorly maintained. Be prepared to turn around and go back to marina twice to finally get a boat that runs (that's just it. Just runs, nothing else will work). The biggest disappointment of all was the Razor. The razor is supposed to be a speed boat but will not plane out or go fast. Feels like the horrible pontoon we rented day before. I have stayed here for over thirty years, but I will never step on Leesford property again. If your looking for a good place to stay I will be staying at Conley Bottom for now on. Well maintained. Leesford marina mechanic on staff is not a mechanic. He's just tinkered with boats for years. Has no experience on new four stroke motors or certification. Let him touch your boat motor at your own risk. Very sad they have let everything go downhill so bad. read more

We recently rented the 2 Bdrm marina cottage which is on the dock. We were very disappointed in our stay. We had previously been told that it was a newer unit which as soon as we entered the house for our stay it was apparent that was not true. We paid over $1,800.00 for a week and were very excited about this vacation for which was supposed to be very special because we never spend this kind of money for a week stay. We thought it would be worth it due to the fact that the house was actually on the water and we could dock our boats right at the patio. The majority of the furniture was scratched up and damaged. The lighting and fans did not work in the living room so you had no lighting there. The small refrigerator was missing all of the compartments so it was very hard to make space for any amount of food in it and the refrigerator itself was damaged. The only one small TV in the entire unit had a screen that was badly damaged and scratched and we had to buy batteries for the remote to get it to work. There were no TV's in the bedrooms. The advertising and the information packet showed that we had access to the internet and a telephone for local calls. However neither of them worked. We only use our own modem and internet and cell phones for security reasons but if you are expecting to have these services you might want to have access to your own since they were not available to us even though they were supposed to be included in the price. They were supposed to pick up our trash everyday, all we had to do was to put it out on the dock for them. In seven days it was only picked up 3 days and the small trash bags they put in them do not fit the cans. We are fishermen and that's why we went there especially with the boats just outside our unit. It was a 12 hour trip each way for us so we did not know the area. When we went to the store on the dock we were surprised that they do not stock hardly any fishing poles, line, tackle, or just general needs that you would find in most any stores or bait shops on a dock or in a resort. The were completely out of night crawlers and minnows two days before a major holiday on Monday and did not think they would have any more in until the following Friday. We had to travel to other resorts to get any supplies that we needed. The person in charge of the store could not tell us any information as to local fishing rules, size and limit restrictions, or even any information about the lake itself. They had no maps or rule books available. The do not seem to promote fishing at all. They have a large number of year round houseboats that rent the docks here which I'm sure is their main source of income. Kim, the other girls that delivered towels, and the taxi service along the dock were very helpful. However, even they seemed discouraged with the way things were maintained. If you come to this area to fish I believe you will not be happy at this location and there are many resorts in the area that do promote fishing and will provide access to your needs. Even though the fishing at this site was not very good, the water was very peaceful and we enjoyed sitting on the patio with the water being our backyard. That part was wonderful. read more

We stayed at Lee's Ford Marina, in cabin 1 for an "extended weekend". I have two good things to say: 1) It was clean when we checked in and 2) The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Other than that, not much good to say. Cabin 1 sleeps ten people, but we only had 8 people in our group... Including two children under 8 years old. We got there, and were not-so-pleasantly surprised to find *four* bath towels in the entire cabin - two towels per bathroom. Luckily, housekeeping dropped off *three* clean towels before we all took showers the next day. No rhyme or reason to how the management has this organized. I had brought three towels from home, so my family had towels, b but it was disappointing that the "resort" was so ill-prepared for its guests. Housekeeping asks guests to put dirty towels in a plastic bag (re-used from the one and only towel drop-off) and leave it for them to pick up. Guests are required to take all the bedding off of the beds and pillows, and place them in the shower, or they will be charged extra. Never in my life have I been to a "resort" where guests have to do more of the housekeeping than the housekeeping staff. Also, there is no broom, and there is a hanger for an ironing board, but no ironing board or iron. The marina is okay, but the water appears to be oily, and is definitely not fit to swim in. The swimming pool is small. If you come here with more than two people and want to take advantage of the kitchen, be prepared to bring your own pots, pans, cutlery and other kitchen gadgets like can openers, slotted spoons, colanders, etc. The supplied teflon pans are VERY small and *cheap*, none larger than 8". There is no way anyone could cook a meal for more than 2 people with what is in the kitchen at Lee's Ford. The day before we were scheduled to check out, we received a call from the front desk, telling us that we needed to check out *right then*. ??? Really? You book people for four nights, charge them $860, and then kick them out after three days? That's pretty awful. I have yet to address this with the management there, but I plan to. I will update this review with the outcome of my conversation. Anyway, we made the best of it and stayed in London, KY that night, but it was an additional $150 for six of us to stay at Baymont Inn and Suites. We could have stayed here, with better amenities, for about 1/4 of what it cost to stay at Lee's Ford. Our rate for our night at Baymont is $76, and we have four towels in one room! read more

Lee's Ford Marina is awful, I went there to kayak with my buddy that owns a slip down there and these people start yelling at us about a stolen cooler that was taken the previous night and was trying to accuse us! We just brushed it off and went to kayaking.On our way back the manger and a cop comes and talks to us and trying to get to the bottom of this "stolen cooler".Our time line place us far from leas Ford so it couldn't be us.The cop was very professional and nice,but the manger was very very very rude! Needless to say I would never recommend the place to any one, Plus it's very dirty! read more

Renting from this marina was the worst experience. Do NOT use them to rent a watercraft! We rented jet skis that were duct taped, had pieces falling off and didn't go over a certain speed! Then, on one of the skis, a red alarm light came on as we were 40 minutes away from their marina and 15 to our houseboat, so we decided not to turn back. We called as soon as we got off and their solution was to drive it back the nearly 1 hour, with the alarm light on, without knowing exactly what was wrong with it. Then they told US to take it to a closer marina to get oil in it, whixh they didn't even know if that was the cause for the alarm. They didn't take any money off or give us any kind of refund! The owner didn't even bother to call us back. The whole experience was disgraceful. read more

This review is for the actual marina, not the Harbor Restaurant & Tavern that is above the marina. Please note: this review is by a slip owner, which does offer more amenities than a visitor We recently purchased a new boat that we can now sleep on (yay for boat camping!). Our original plan was to just trailer it whenever we wanted to use it, being able to put our boat into whatever body of water we felt like exploring. However, our first time taking the new boat out, we quickly realized this was much different than our smaller ski boat that we used to have. Our first time taking the boat out, we put it in Lake Cumberland, which was our first time on LC. We fell in love with it and decided that's where we would slip our boat. We did launch our boat from Lees Ford and really liked it but thought we needed to check out a couple other marinas before decided. We knew we wanted to stay on the East side of the lake since it seems quieter than around the State Dock area and it's also closer to Lexington. We checked our Burnside and Conley Bottom. We really liked the store at Conley Bottom but ultimately chose Lees Ford because of the transportation they offer around the marina (golf cart taxis from your boat to the store, or from the lower parking lot to your boat. Also a shuttle down from the upper lots and the restaurant down to the boat ramp) and the proximity to Somerset. LFM also provides complimentary waste pumpouts where Conley Bottom charges (slip owners are given vouchers for 3 complimentary pumpouts). We couldn't be happier with our decision. Now all we have to do is load up some clothes and perishable food items and we're on the boat in about 1.5hrs. And no more launching the boat... and we can drive our more fuel efficient car instead of the gas guzzling boat towing Yukon. We also like that we have the option of sleeping on the boat out on the lake somewhere or just in our covered slip. Pros: transportation options around the marina & up to the restaurant free waste tank pumpouts $100 in Harbor Bucks for the restaurant An abundance of friendly staff, always someone available to help. Marina is kept nice and tidy Beer is now sold in the store, as well being on tap. And they're serving pizza! Live entertainment on the "in season" weekends. Slip owner events scheduled all year long. Sense of community Family friendly and not "too" wild & crazy. Slip rates are reasonable Super close to shopping and restaurants in Somerset. Cons: The $100 in Harbor Bucks are in $5 increments, which can only be used one per visit. :( The marina store is okay but could be a lot better. Wish they offered more grocery items. Not a huge selection. If you're looking to keep your boat slipped somewhere, I highly recommend Lees Ford Marina. read more

They need to clean their bathrooms at the dock. Usually clean, but theu were not this weekend. Also they charged us for someone else's gas and we had to get them to credit us. It seemed like they didn't care about tbe bathrooms being dirty or charging us for someone else's gas. No appreciation for customers at all. Tells me owner isn't paying his associates enough or dorsn't care. Could be such a nice place. I don't think they care in tbe restaurant either as much as they used to. read more

One Star can be misleading, so please read this whole review. My wife and I went to Lee's Ford on the recommendation of my cousin who has been going there for over 20 years. We have always wanted to go to Lake Cumberland with our boat and when my cousin told us about Lee's Ford and the wonderful experiences they have had there growing up we decided to head on down. Our anniversary was that coming weekend so we packed our bags, hooked up the boat and left. This was early July 2015. We stayed in Cabin 4, which had been newly remodeled. It was really nice. A perfect space for just the 2 of us. The restaurant was truly out of this world. Great tasting food at incredibly low prices. I was very impressed. In fact, it was so good, we ended up eating there every night for the 3 nights we were there. The staff was equally delightful. One of the downfalls of our trip was the weather. Not the resort's fault, but it does come into play. 2015 has been a very wet and stormy summer and it was no exception that weekend either. We had severe storms, heavy rains and high winds every evening, night and morning we were there. The best part was that the weather cleared perfectly during the day. Bright, hot sunshine each day making the boating experience on Lake Cumberland a blast. We paid for a covered boat slip for the weekend which made getting on and off the lake each day very convenient and quick. It also kept our boat dry at night since I didn't take our boat cover. Now for the reason for the ONE STAR Rating. We had severe storms our last night there and woke up to heavy rain and high winds. We were planning on checking out of the room by 11:00 and heading out on the lake for a couple hours before starting the 5 hour trip home. The rain finally stopped at noon and the hot sun came out right on cue. We headed to the boat and found someone else's boat in our slip. We then found our boat tied up OUTSIDE of the covered area with water laying in the boat. We have a nice 19' Crownline and if water is laying in the boat, which means the hull is full of water. I immediately started the bilge pump which now was not working. We headed to the marina to find out what happened and who moved our boat. Our anger was focused on the other boat owner for moving our boat out in the rain and swamping it and taking our slip. But this is when it gets really ugly. We explained the situation to the girl at the desk and demanded to see the manager, Bobby Maynard. 20 minutes later, after asking what was taking him so long, he finally pops out of his office on the other side of the wall. Without getting into the entire dialogue the manager finally told us it was HIM that moved our boat. He said he walked it around other boats and tied it up outside the covered area because someone else had already paid for that slip for the whole summer. He apparently came back early so the manager, Bobby, moved our nice boat out into the nasty weather and swamped it. The salt in this wound is, we still have not received an apology. Bobby never said he was sorry, admitted he used poor judgment, or even offered to reimburse us for the covered boat slip we ended up not having. He claimed he called us but we never received a call or a message that he claims they left. He was rude and accusatory. They do not keep good records, no receipts, nothing. Touching another man's boat is like touching another man's Harley... of which I have both. Those of you who have nice stuff know exactly what I'm talking about. So, overall, our stay in the cabin was great. However, I have no respect for Bobby Maynard. I do not trust the marina staff, except for the 11 year old dock hand. He was fantastic. If you rent a boat slip, keep in mind that they double book their slips and you could be in for a rude awakening one morning when you head out to your boat for a great day on the lake. If you go to Lee's Ford Marina be very diligent. They will screw you over in a heartbeat and you'll never see it coming. In the meantime, Happy Boating!!!! read more

Had our family reunion there this June. We had 7 Cottages (cabins) and one motel room for our group. We loved that we could all be grouped together and there were playgrounds, the swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball and restaurant all right there. The place was clean and when we needed anything, they did their best. The beds and linens were the same as a five star hotel. The restaurant food was good, although a bit salty for my taste. The BLT salad was excellent. The marina is down a hill, but they have ample parking for driving down there to avoid walking back up the hill. Would stay there again. read more

A bunch of friends and our kids rented 3 boats for some fun on the water, little did we know it wouldn't end so fun. Two out of the three boats broke down and when I called Lee's Ford marina they told me we had ran out of gas. I assured him there was no way, but what can I do...I'm stranded with no choice. A friendly boater towed us in to the nearest marina (because Lee's Ford marina wasn't sure when they could come get us) to get gas. We put some gas in, boat still wasn't starting. The guys at Burnside Marina helped us out with getting it started and we headed back to Lee's Ford because we didn't want to get stranded again. Of course, we broke down again only 10 minutes into our trip. I called Lee's Ford AGAIN only to be met with attitude and not taking blame for any of it nor did he have a solution on how to get us back. So we waited and waited, thankfully another friendly boater towed us in. All of our children were terrified, Lee's Ford was nowhere to be found to help us. When we finally got in (because being towed is a VERY slow process) they ONLY had to fill 5 gallons of gas to fill it all the way up. When we went in to see about what they'd do for us, they took ZERO responsibility and charged us full price and told us we had to boats out too long! What a joke this place is. Save yourself the money, headache and fear of being stranded and go somewhere else!! read more

The house boat (docked) we rented was pretty nice but the housekeeping was horrible. My sheets had small blood stains on them so I washed them only to find crumbs under my fitted sheet. The stains didn't come out of the sheets so obviously they were old stains and the sheets should have been discarded a long time ago! We had to clean the microwave and any of the kitchen cabinets we used because they were filthy. And the kicker is they ask you to leave a tip if there will be excessive cleaning after you leave.....really???? It wasn't clean to begin with! We left it cleaner than we found it! The alarm for the sewer went off twice, we thought it was a smoke alarm but when the lady came down she said it was for the sewer. The alarm was silenced but the red light stayed on the rest of our trip. Upon further investigation we learned the alarm will go off when the levels get high. She said she would send someone the following day to check it, nobody ever showed up. While we were cleaning up the kitchen, the guys were standing out on the dock near the kitchen window and when we poured old coffee down the drain they saw it appear in the water which is upsetting since there is so much wild life in the water...ducks, fish, heron, turtles! These concerns were further addressed at check out and the lady didn't seem to care! We rented a pontoon boat which was nice, no problems there. The people vacationing or living there on other boats were all very friendly but I doubt I'd ever go back. read more

Harbor restaurant, to locals it's a sub Par tourist trap and my visit there today reinforced that claim. First of all we used the venue for our engagement party. The party room was about 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Our guests were visibly sweating in semi formal dress. And again ruffles potato chips are NOT a suitable side dish for a restaurant that serves steak and lobster. Plastic cups with the harbor logo really convey class... But I guess that goes with the chips as side dishes. Needs improvement. read more

Stay Away! We rented a 24' Razor for one day (total cost almost 600.00 without gas). The radio did not work. The gas gauge did not work. The ladder had to be tied up so it wouldn't drag in the water. The speedometer did not work. The seating upholstery was mildewed beyond imagination and torn badly. The drawers to the built-in cabinet fell off when you tried to open them. There were 4 mounts that stick up that are supposed to house a grill but serve only as a serious safety hazard. The staff was rude and had no knowledge of the boat. When we asked where the bilge pump was the response was that the boat didn't have a toilet! They couldn't tell us where the fire extinguisher was but we found 2 near the end of the 'cruise' tucked out of sight. The photos they show on the website are of the boat when it was new. Since it is a 2017 model one would think that the boat would be in decent condition. WRONG! They do not maintain any of their equipment and have no pride in their business or care for their customers. If you rent a boat from them after you read this then you deserve what you get. read more

This was by far THE WORST experience I've ever had. Got out of the no wake zone with our pontoon and the gas line blew and was spewing gas into the lake and stopped working. When we called the marina they put us on hold for 25 minutes while we aimlessly floated in the lake. Luckily the nice young men who worked there came and brought us back in but said they aren't supposed to. When we got back the manager refused to give us a refund because the crook owner of this place said no. Then when we asked to speak to the owner she said that wasn't possible and refused to give us his number, but said we could have his email. They proceeded to take our $500 and send us on our way. Not to mention we had 5 kids under 16 that were traumatized the entire time. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I would've rated them -100 but 1 was the lowest I could go. When I asked if they needed my Id to drive the boat the manager laughed and said no just go ahead and drive. By far the most unsafe and poorly ran business I have ever seen. PLEASE don't rent from this place unless you like gambling with the odds not even close to being in your favor. The owner of this place is a crook and should be in jail. read more

Horrible management for boat rentals. We spent over $300 to rent a pontoon boat for the day, and 30 minutes after leaving the marina it broke down. The boat was replaced about an hour later, however when we voiced our disappointment afterwards we were charged for a nick in the propeller even though the boat never went near the land and we certainly didn't hit anything. read more

I am not sure where to begin. 1st off our group rented 3 boats from this Marina on one day for an 8 hour rental each. Boats were in nasty condition. Carpet was torn, worn through and moldy on pontoons, The speed boat was moldy as well. The speed boat in the pictures on line had a refrigerator and a grill neither of which were available or in working order. This boat broke down twice during our day. We had to be towed to a different Marina to get it working again the first time. Near the end of the day when it broke down the 2nd time we had to be towed back to Lees Ford. The Marina claims they sent someone to help us however we never saw them, a good samaritan boater assisted in getting us back to the Marina. After finally arriving back at the Marina the staff and manager all treated us poorly and did not accommodate for any of the issues we encountered. The manager insisted that we took the boats too far and essentially blamed us for the fact that the boat broke down. How far we travel with the boat is irrelevant I expect 8 hours of a viable boat in working order if that is what I paid for. He insisted that we must have run out of gas and that we were basically dumb for thinking it was a mechanical issue, we did not run out of gas when we returned to the Marina we only had put in less than 10 gallons of gas for the entire day. Our group will return next year for our yearly Lake weekend however we will be renting from Burnside from now on. read more
