I heard Lee's sandwich sells the pate by itself and i purchase one. It was $10 for 8 Oz of pate which seem kinda pricey but I dont know how much they typically go for. I was surprised when they gave it to me in a ham container which I think they use for their ham sandwich. I guess they dont have a dedicated container but I assume it is clean so not that big of a deal. On way home just out of curiosity I visited another Lee's sandwich on Van Buren right off the 91 and discovered they sell theirs for $3.99! When I told the cashier about how much the other location sells their, she was taken aback too. Now i understand all the negative reviews with them being real stingy on their pate. Honestly, this location is rough. The place feels run down--broken windows, lights barely on inside, and it just doesn't look well-kept. Every time I've gone, they're out of most items, so your options are extremely limited. The service doesn't help either--the employee is usually on the phone having a personal conversation instead of helping customers. We order from here quite frequently to have it delivered to the hospital I work at and the original coffee is usually the best thing they have! I am split though as our first couple orders the coffee was top tier and the sandwiches were so fresh and delightful! But our last order the coffee tasted burnt and the sandwich's were not made the same as they previously were. Mine in particular was made on a different bread the second time which took away from the bahn mi flavor. This is upsetting with how much we spend here. I probably would order the coffee again but I won't chance getting another sub par sandwhich for the price. Even my coworkers were disappointed the second time around ordering food. The store looked like it had been robbed. One of the glass doors was broken and covered by wood. The seating area has lots of tables and chairs to sit inside. All the racks were empty and there was barely anything in the food warmer where they have their egg rolls, banh baos, and pate pastries. The cooler had a few of their ice coffees. There were only two staff working in there. The girl taking the orders and getting the food to guests. The guy back there making the sandwiches and drinks. We didn't have to wait long for the food. We decided to eat there which was a big mistake. While we sat eating, within an hour, we saw 2 roaches. One was lying upside down moving by the sign. My friend discreetly told the guy in Vietnamese about the roach and he waited till everyone was served and brought a broom and pan to scoop it up. He said thank you and walked away. We felt sick and didn't want to eat anymore. Then we saw the second roach crawling around the back door and we decided it was time to go. I don't think this store is going to survive if it continues to go downhill. I'm so sad that this place has changed since they opened. I go to Lee's sandwiches all the time different locations or barbecue pork sandwich is to die for but this time in downtown recite I asked him what would be a nice change from the barbecue pork sandwich. He told me they have really good ground beef sandwich called a pate sandwich sounded good enough to me so I went ahead and bought it when I got that sandwich(by the way I also ordered five more sandwich sandwiches) took a bite. It tasted so putrid so salty and strong. It made me instantly gag right there in the restaurant open a sandwich and so that the vegetables were soggy no crunch and I know the meat tasted bad. It was rotten tasted like a rotting fish sandwich. It was really disgusting and when I told him about it, he gave me such a rude attitude face and shrugged his shoulders and said you just don't like the taste there's nothing I can do about that. I spent $55 and told them that this sandwich was not edible but he kept insisting there's nothing wrong with the sandwich. As I pull up right in front I see all their lights on including their open sign on. The second I put my car in park a heavyset younger guy with glasses comes up to the door and locks it. I flash my lights and open my door and he opens the door and says, "Are you coming to Lee's?" I said yes and he says that they're closed. I say, "Don't you close at 8?" He says, "Yes we close at 8." I say, "It's not even 7:40." and he says, "We're closed. We sold out of everything." I know damn well there's no way that they sold out of every single piece of bread, meat, veggie, etc. If you want to leave early, just say that. We stopped by for a late lunch after studying next door. I've tried their bottled iced coffees before but this was my first time trying their banh mis. The space is surprisingly large and there is plenty of seating. I noticed a lot of people grabbed food to go though. Service was pretty subpar. The employees were very short with us and definitely not the most approachable. I ordered the combination banh mi, which contained an assortment of cold cuts. It wasn't anything very special. It looks deceivingly large, but the baguette isn't as thick as other banh mis I've had. The fillings were pretty standard. I liked how many pickled veggies they included, but there was not a lot of meat. Their sign claims they bake fresh baguettes every 30 minutes but the bread was cold and tasted like bread I could buy from a grocery store (which probably would've tasted better because I could at least toast it at home). For $7-8 it's decent and it's a perfectly fine option if you're looking for something convenient. I don't think I will be coming again, and would much prefer to get a banh mi from small, local Vietnamese restaurants since they would probably be more authentic and fresh. I'm usually pretty skeptical about the authenticity and quality of food when it comes from a large chain like this. For the same price you can definitely find better banh mi. read more

Do not order the chicken sandwich ...not fresh! This location has nothing on the Garden Grove location who makes everything fresh! The chicken sandwich I ordered tasted old and dry! I informed the chubby (apologies I do no know his name, so I'm describing him and I'm not trying to be cruel) cashier that I would like to exchange the sandwich for the turkey and he said that I would have to pay $2.00 extra and I said no the chicken is old and not good!
