Had a crappy night at work and decided to treat myself to a pick me up coffee at Lee's and try their new Biscoff iced coffee. Ended up having a crappy experience. Placed an online order at 8:12am and didn't receive my order till 9:06am. In fact, if I hadn't followed up with one of the staff, I would've been waiting even longer or maybe forever because they still had my ticket order on the counter. And I was not the only one this happened to. In fact, seeing another woman who placed an online order having to follow up at the counter is what made me finally speak up also. This is not my first time here but haven't been in awhile and I definitely won't be back for a long time if at all. I get that there is a morning rush, but to have multiple orders just left at the counter and not even followed up on until prompted to do so, means there is a big organizational problem. And even after speaking up, the staff member did not offer any explanations or apologies despite me waiting an hr for one drink. Honestly, the drink was good but not that great enough for me to go through this long wait, pay high price ($11 with tip and tax which I regret giving). Small corner coffee shop located next to In & out off Van Buren! I saw a viral video about how good their Banana Vietnamese coffee was and that we had to go to this location to get the original one. Service was quick & easy to walk in and out of(but not a wide double stroller friendly doorway) . Dac biet sandwich - pate lacked flavor and the Vietnamese mayo/ butter the 3 types of meats in the sandwich tasted disgusting and had no flavor or seasoning what so ever ... the carrots and daikon pickles were all cut all large like the size of French fries not thinly spliced .. it had no cucumber or cilantro added . Truthfully , I would only come here for coffee . I switched to other Sandwich places in the area such as Carrot & Daikon as their consistency is the same across the board .. Vietnamese Biscoff coffee - the Cream was savory and delicious with the hint of Biscoff flavor .. rich because it's Vietnamese French coffee beans which is high in caffeine and quality ! My first time to a Lee's and it felt lackluster. The vibes were not it this day. I did visit late afternoon evening time to set the scene. I wasn't able to order all what I wanted so I will be back to try more food items. I did get a #1 and it looked sad. I recently visited this Lee's Sandwiches location in Riverside and had a decent experience. .The location is easy to access, and there's convenient street parking available nearby, so finding a spot wasn't too difficult even during busier hours. Inside, the shop had a clean, casual, and comfortable indoor ambiance with a lot of sandwhiches and sweets. Having been to many Lee's Sandwhiches locations in OC, I was hoping to get the same quality and service at this location. Indeed, I was right. The service was friendly and efficient. The staff greeted customers promptly, and even with their limited English, I was able to order the BBQ Pork Bánh Mì, Grilled Pork Sandwich, and their signature Lee's Coffee. My items were prepared quickly so I was able to get my order and go. The bread that I remembered used to be crispy on the outside and soft inside, but this time it tasted stale like day old bread. I do give them top notch credit that fillings were flavorful and still satisfying. I was shocked to see how much my total bill was. I was used to the old prices, but now sandwhiches are around $8 and their ice drinks are around $5! Oh well. If you crave for these sandwhiches and can't head to Westminister for other Bánh Mì places, then you deal with the prices in Riverside. Overall, had a good experience here. I went here for the first time bc I had seen they had the biscoff Vietnamese coffee and I really wanted to try it. No issues off the bat, young kid at the register was whatever when we walked in, very "what can I get for you." No hello or anything, that's fine whatever. But the issue was when it came down to our order, first they made the wrong drink and so I waited, no big deal. But when I got my actual coffee was the issue. There was so much ice, I couldn't drink it from the lid bc the cold foam was becoming so cold that it was solidifying on top. No liquid can get passed. I tried mixing it, thinking maybe it needed to loosen with the liquid but no. The issue was there was way too much ice. So I had asked the lady if she could maybe dump out some ice NOT ALL just some and top it off with a little more coffee. I took the lid off and showed her the amount of ice to drink ratio. She hesitated after I explained to her it was basically a thick slushy. So when I got my drink back it was from the kid at the register who decided be a smarta** about it. He said and I quote as he slid my coffee over to me "we only put 8oz. I did it for you THIS time but next time you can buy the bottle (points to the fridge if prepacked coffee) and pour it in yourself. It's 5 dollars." All this being said while walking away and avoiding eye contact. I looked at my wife in disbelief bc excuse me? I said "maybe next time don't add so much that I have to ask for more coffee since that's what I paid for." And I had seen the coffees before me and I can confidently say they didn't look the same. The ice was loose enough to swirl in the cup. And I'm sorry but if you drink plenty of coffee or drinks in general, you should know what I'm talking about. Sucks bc the coffee (yes it was coming out of a gallon premade) was regardless still very good but nah, I'm not coming back. I can find and have found better elsewhere. read more
