Note that the years of positive reviews for this establishment are for *Dr. Chang* who is retiring and will not be here any longer, and are therefore void. The owner, Dr. Ramirez was rude, abrasive, and arrogant. I don't know how to describe her other than lacking in aloha. I asked a simple question to understand my condition and my options, and she went on a weird condescending rant telling me how shes the owner, how she's just doing what they did at her old places of work, etc. without ever giving me an actual answer to my question. It made me so uncomfortable that she couldn't give any medically-backed justification for my treatment plan and she instead got defensive and heated about nothing? I didn't even challenge her, just nicely asked to understand, and this for some reason seemed to trigger her. On top of the lack of medical advice and accountability as a medical provider, the attitude and snippiness in her tone was unnecessary and unwarranted. I left genuinely upset and confused as to why she reacted so unkindly when I asked a simple question. I will say the office staff are very kind and parking is always easy. But as patients we put a lot of blind trust into medical professionals and she immediately shattered my trust enough to never want to return. I have come to Vision Care Center for probably 30 years since I was a kid, but Dr. Ramirez was so unpleasant and uncomfortable that I feel disconnected from a practice I previously trusted for decades.

You do have to go to the Wahiawa clinic for the actual surgery, but I am 100% satisfied with the results. I can actually see without my glasses.. it's like magic! Dr. Rhee & staff were great. The first time was a good experience we covered all concerns. Maybe because there was an intern observing I transferred all my records. The second visit was horrible. I had a long wait and nobody could find my lab, x-rays and other pertinent records which the doctor ordered during my first visit. I had to email them what I had after waiting an hour on the exam chair while they looked for them. The doctor didn't seem very concerned about the results and just recommended to get new glasses with the new prescription and didn't spend time on my other concerns. He kept leaving the exam room while the nurse looked for my files. If all you need is a new prescription, it serves its purpose. But if you have other concerns, you will have to advocate for yourself. I also asked for my file and never got it. The girls at the front desk made me wait for an answer on when I can get it while they talked about lunch. Overall experience? Very unprofessional practice. They need to train their staff better. Otherwise my new eyeglass prescription is very good but I still had to go to a specialist to assess my other concerns which I thought they were going to help me with.
