She knows her stuff and i felt completely at ease with her attending my home birth. I love that she keeps up with the latest research instead of using decade old information like some obgyns. I had a traumatic first birth with murky information and so was extra anxious about certain risk factors but Kristy guided me through the whole thing. With her guidance and support I had a quick, unmedicated, and manageable labor this time and gave birth to a healthy baby girl within the comfort of my home! She also clearly loves babies and kids. I interviewed another midwife and what made me pick Kristy was her full support of me having my toddler present at the birth. He ended up not wanting to be in the room but I loved that she was on board with him being there. The other midwife wasn't too thrilled with that idea. Kristy was extremely easy to reach any time i had any questions. I was sick at some point during the pregnancy and she fully encouraged me to call her day or night. Cheryl cared about me as a whole person, I never felt rushed (most appointments were 30-60 minutes). I had to bring older siblings to most appointments and she made sure that they were included. I really appreciate that my midwife and the birth center didn't have lists of routine interventions. I was allowed to make my own decisions about my care and what tests/interventions I wanted to have. I had a peaceful and amazing water birth at the birth center. Even if I had needed to transfer, it would have been worth the money just to have my midwife's support in the hospital. I cannot recommend Gentle Beginnings more highly.

About 3 weeks ago me and my 2 YO son was exited from the program after a a month stay (which I was more than happy to do) Although the facility is nice it's definitely not for any domestic violence victims And I strongly urge you to stay far away. Not only is the staff aggressive and tempromental but extremely controlling. Controlling over your whereabouts every second of the day, Every dime you make, what you can spend (if they allow it) where you can go, where you can work, where your kids go to school ect. The manipulation and re victimizing is completely beyond me. I was mortified when I found out they kept tabs and cameras on when I was eating and if I "ate too late" or if I didn't do something according to detailed description. I honestly feel this place should be shut down because the way its being ran is ineffective. And in the beginning they give women a false sense of security to make things look good for the donors, it's completely sad... . My lawyer was completed to sue but due to clause in the agreement you have to sign, it would be difficult.... Just do yourself a favor stay on the street or stay away.I fell bad for anyone who comes in contact with the current staff and I feel horrible for the founder who I'm sure started this non profit in "good faith"

I brought my elderly family member here a few days after Thanksgiving 2021. Prior to our visit I…read moreexchanged about 4-5 phone calls with the staff regarding our scheduled visit. Never ever at any point during these phone calls did anyone disclose the facilities dangerously strict "mask protocol." My elderly family member and I arrived on time for our appointment in the early morning hours. The waiting room had about two other people waiting. I assisted my family in sitting down as they are handicap. I engaged the front desk and checked in. The girl at the desk had ear pods in and was listening to something because she initially responded in a distracted manner. The other front desk females were on their cellphones and appeared to be playing games. The girl I spoke with asked if we had masks and I replied no we didn't. She then said she'd get us one. I informed her that both me and my family member had documented medical conditions that prevented us from wearing masks. She didn't understand. I had to explain it again to her. She then went to discuss it with her office manager, Eric. After, what felt like a punitive 20 minute wait, Eric came out and aggressively and confrontationally confronted me about our inability to wear a mask. He was hostile from the start. After a few minutes of back and forth between he and I, my family member started to get visibly upset and nervous. Their anxiety was kicking in from this "Eric the office manager's" inability to handle the situation. Eric, was demanding we each were masks or get out. We was giggling at the fact that we had documented medical conditions that prevented us from wearing masks. I kept asking him why nobody ever disclosed the policy during any of the 4-5 phone calls prior to the appointment and his repeated response was "because it's on the door." Ridiculous! Eric, then asked what our conditions were and who was the documenting doctor. I had to educate Eric that he was violating the American Disability Act and furthermore, he was illegally inquiring about our private personal medical information in a public venue. The waiting room! Where others were watching this unprofessional fiasco. It was I, not him that suggested we find a private room to discuss this as my family member could no longer handle the stress. Once Eric and I got into an empty room he tried to raise his voice and condescend me. He even insisted that I get my doctor on the phone to prove it. And, I actually did get my doctor on the phone to prove it and Eric stilled snarled at the proof. The company does not appear to train their "managers" in how to "manage" conflict or disagreement. Eric then said he'd only allow the family member to not wear a mask but I'd have to leave. I had to inform Eric the "manager" that I was the this person's primary care taker and I was responsible form their well being. If he was kicking me out he would be held fully responsible for anything that happened. Keep in mind we had already been in the building for well over 30 minutes without masks so if there was any possibility that we were going to contaminate the facility with our breath we would have already done so. So Eric was behaving this way with an egotistical intention to win and nothing else. I cared too much for my family member to leave them alone so I put the mask on under my chin and stayed with them as they was shaking, anxious and stressed from the verbal abuse Eric inflicted on us. Then, the nurses performed their pre surgical review and find my family member's blood pressure is "very alarming and dangerously high." So high they need to delay any treatment and call in for a doctor's approval. It never ever crossed these "nurses" mind that my family member has various documented health conditions and one of them was in regards to wearing a mask. Furthermore, she just spent 30 minutes freaking out while two men just about came to throwing punches because of her inability to wear a mask. No, I wouldn't go here ever ever again. There is nothing modern about this place. Their intelligence level, reasoning, managerial and customer service is definitely not "modern." I'd suggest you stay away from this place and take your business elsewhere.

When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!
