Compared to other "memory care" locations, the RPH provides great service at a cost of at least $1k/month less than any of the suburban homes do. For those who are more independent, there are lots of things offered, all at a better price than most of the competition. I've seen reviews at other places which refer to the neighborhood as being "sketchy". Well, the neighborhood is mostly black, so I guess if you're so racist, maybe you should go to one of the suburban home (where most of the staff is minority as well). I've never had any issue aside from traffic in the neighborhood, but then I'm not the type to roll up my windows and clutch my pearls just because I'm in a diverse neighborhood. The food is also pretty good, even if it's not usually very exciting. The only thing that I might quibble with is the drivel on the communal TV a lot of the time. With elderly residents, I would think that watching TCM or old reruns of Lawrence Welk would make more sense than those 'manufactured drama' shows on cable. CSI is not a good choice for people with dementia.....

I don't understand why every senior living facility does not use the Eden Alternative Philosophy of caring for elders. What a difference compassion and respect make when caring for those with dementia. Given the high level of quality care, it was an unexpected bonus that RPH actually costs less than other facilities in the area.
