What happened? This used to be my favorite bagel shop. I would go out of my way to come here since it isn't close to my house. On my most recent visit I waited 20 minutes for a simple bagel order to get a mediocre bagel and absolutely horrible coffee. I didn't even drink it. Plus, you used to be closed on Sundays indicating you were at church. Seems like that has changed. It was also one of the reasons I made sure to come there on Saturdays to support you. I tried a poppy seed bagel with plain cream cheese from Legacy Bagels recently and unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The reviews were decently good so I was expecting an above-average bagel at minimum! However, my bagel tasted under-baked and it was chewy. It wasn't enjoyable. The service was good. I phoned ahead to ensure they were open due to the weather and the person that pi ked was very friendly and inviting. When I walked into the bagel shop I was greeted and they were very courteous. Perhaps I got an off-day bagel, but I do remember reading a review that stated the bagels were chewy. I probably won't be back but please try them just in case my situation was due to an off day, but if it wasn't be aware. It's not convenient for me otherwise I would have given them another try. Wow. I can't believe we have this hidden gem in North TX, this is as close (if not better) to NYC bagels. We order 2 Asiago's with plain cream cheese and omg they were heavenly, crisp yet chewy texture, airy and the flavor was so subtle yet fresh and cheesy but in the best way. Best bagel I have ever had, really! The staff was so nice and friendly, restaurant was impeccably clean. Only area they could improve is the coffee/tea. It was not good at all, no amount of cream and sugar could make it bearable. Still the bagels and service were so good that the terrible coffee didn't knock off a single star. read more

So sad to write this review, but the recent drop in quality, service, and price changes have made a once regular stop something of the past. The things I used to love about Legacy: - Bagels cooked right every time - When you ordered cream cheese, YOU GOT CREAM CHEESE. Like a thick spread of it like I was in NYC. - Free coffee Fridays. I was in here every Friday ordering two bagels and a coffee. Unfortunately, all of those are gone. The bagels are often doughy, and they never toast enough. Inconsistency is running wild. The cream cheese is now a thin spread, I could not believe they'd serve it with so little. But the biggest thing is their daily specials are now completely gone. For me, that free small cup of coffee was the cherry on top, and now it's gone. One other small gripe I have, is that I came in every Friday for a year, same order, almost never missing a week. Same staff working and taking my order every time. And not once did I ever get acknowledged as a loyal customer. Now I don't expect them to remember my order, or remember my name. But just some sort of greeting that would acknowledge my loyalty and repeat business and their recognition of it would have been swell. Quality seems to have dropped off. I have been purchasing bagels here since shortly after they opened on University Ave and had always been impressed. But after not visiting for a while I returned this morning and was disappointed. I bought a dozen and frankly they seemed like the bagels you get at Einsteins which are frozen bagels baked in the store and are really just donut shaped bread. Disclaimer: I am from nyc so my expectations and standards of bagels might be unreasonable. I drove by this place several times and decided to give it a try few weeks ago. Bagel is good but not great. But people working there are very polite and nice that I would come here whenever I am craving for bagels. Clean bathrooms, tables with wiped regularly. My apartment building had the pleasure of being on the corner of Lexington Avenue right next to a very famous NY bagel shop. After several visits to Legacy Bagels during the week I learned when going on a Saturday that they have fresh baked cinnamon rolls on weekends. HELLO! I asked the cashier if they were good and he said he liked them so I grabbed one with my bagel order. I brought it home and that afternoon when I took a bite my eyes rolled into the back of my head! The cashier lied!!! It was good it was freaking amazing!! Now pay attention guys cause you could learn a lesson from my husband. I went to get another bite of that cinnamon roll later and it was gone. The hubby ate the rest of cinnamon roll. I got only that one bite. ONE BITE?!?!? He tried to blame the dog but I know better. None of that schmear stuff where they wave the cheese over half. Full disclosure for the bagel purists - it is spreadable cream cheese. I like the real deal ... but, hey... this is TX. You get what you get and don't throw a fit. They also had these massive cinnamon buns. The icing was at least an inch thick. We didn't try one but they look 'G to the o-o-d'! The bagels are legit... fresh and delicious. On a recent visit I had the Bandito breakfast sandwich, and it definitely won't be the last time. It was super flavorful, a little spicy... really, really good. I've also heard from a friend that the cinnamon rolls are unreal! He gets them regularly and raves about them! Wow! I give this a 5 star just strictly based on customer service and What a blessing this place is. We came to this place for our first time, on a snow day and drove around the store a bit to see if it was open but it was unfortunately closed. We saw someone one go into the drive through thinking maybe we were mistaken but in the truck was an employee who told us they were closed. To our surprise, he said that they may have bagels left over and expected like 1 or 2 but he gave us a bag FOR FREE. Honestly one of the nicest things ever, because he didn't have to do anything. We went to Legacy Bagels this morning for breakfast and loved our experience! They have a good variety of bagels and spreads. I'd recommend getting the half dozen if you're planning on getting 3 or more bagels (it's the same price as getting three bagels with spread). The bagels had a great flavor throughout and not just on top. There was plenty of seating for our family of four. They don't have any high chairs though so bring your own if you need one. I hate to write this review. These bagels are not good, strange texture and they don't taste right. I didn't even finish them. I appreciate that they had egg bagels, even though I didn't enjoy it. The chive and onion cream cheese is very strong you can even smell it. Service was good and prices were fair so I'll add a star for that.
