I was in the neighborhood so I decided to try Sugar Boy Donuts. They had a pretty good selection of nicely decorated donuts and cronuts. I noticed a jelly filled, so I ordered one of those. I was asked what kind of filling? I was going to ask what kind do you have? but I asked if they had raspberry and that was put into a little wrapper. Total charge $2.05. Plus I left a $1 tip. My first job was at a family owned bakery in the suburbs of Chicago and quite honestly they had the best bakery items I have ever had. I always hold that bakery as my gold standard and how I evaluate any bakery items since. This jelly filled "bismark " (as I know them) was good. I would have preferred the standard lightly sugar coating over the glazed coating that was on this item. The texture and taste of the raspberry filling was okay. It was my first time visiting so I asked what she recommended. She spoke very softly and fastly behind plexiglass so it was super hard to hear and understand what she was saying. Best I could figure was that she recommended about everything they had. I ended up getting a spinach and cheese pantry which was really good but could have been warmer. I usually love coming here but today the lady in the front serving me was pretty rude. Either she was having a bad day or not in the mood to work, either way I greeted myself to her. Dunk'n are my favorite with Shipley's not far behind but since neither of them are very close to my location we go to Sugarboy on the rare occasion we get donuts. I typically like the 'old fashioned' /'plain cake' donuts but not at SB. I believe it's too much vanilla in the flavor and too sweet. The other donuts are ok but , again, really much to sweet for our liking. Kolaches are good. Service is fine. Prices are so much higher than my fave donut shops. Sugarboy in Prosper is a very good donut, kolache, and coffee shop. Everything is always fresh and tasty. My only knock against them is price. There are several donuts shops in the area whom offer the same level of quality but are a fraction of the price that Sugarboy charges. As far as the food quality, Sugarboy Donuts is fine - no complaints. The reason for only giving them 3 stars is that their staff has asked me this question on 2 occasions - "Is that all you're getting?" Their speciality donuts are really unique! They really put in a lot of effort and design in their speciality donuts and my kids love them. We usually go every Sunday so I am signed up for rewards and try to cash in on that every chance possible. Could be a free coffee here or a couple of donut holes but it's worth it! The new staff may need some training issues as we've gotten home to find no filling in our donuts, poor or little to no filling, or the way they stack our donuts left a ton of frosting smudged on the box or other donuts. Pretty much everywhere BUT the donut. Get in before the all the churches come and wipe that place out too! You can go at 11:00 sometimes and it's slim pickings. Their cronut is light, fluffy and they use real fresh fruit to top it. The custard filling recipe is really delicious. We've ordered birthday donuts here and they don't disappoint. Custom and affordable. You can easily drop $35 on a dozen donuts (assorted, speciality $3.25 each, 2 cream filled), and a couple of small sausage kolaches. We go every Sunday so... This is my favorite place for coffee and donuts. The coffee is better than Starbucks, and they also have breakfast sandwiches. The staff is warm, welcoming, and always friendly. You have two choices for donut fillings (for free) if you want to make your donut extra special. I love the maple donut with cream pudding filling. The kid friendly designer donuts are precious.
