We really wanted to love this place more. If you love really good barbecue and that's what you're after, you may be a little disappointed. If you're good with middle of the road barbecue, you'll love this place. I really loved the smoked macaroni and cheese and beans with brisket in them. However, the brisket itself had the texture of steamed meat and the chicken wasn't smoked at all, it was baked. The pulled pork was pretty good and my favorite of the meats. The sausage was OK. Cornbread was a bit dry and could've used a slather of butter. I would've given another star if the chicken was smoked/barbecued and better. Bland baked chicken has a lot of room for improvement. read more

EXCELLENT BBQ! Portions are OK but VS price it's less than expected. Service is order at counter and retrieve food when call, self serve drinks. The small dining area is very warm with no atmosphere. The Prices are High compared to what you would get at another restaurant for a $17 - $20 dinner. We enjoyed the food but considering the fact it cost $80 (including tip) for 3 people eating dinner on paper lined tin trays with plastic utensils the portion VS price isn't worth it. I wanted to wait until we'd eaten here several times before reviewing. Easily the best BBQ north of the river- we're so lucky to have Legacy in the area. Their smoked meats are 5/5! You gotta try the burnt ends for sure (they sell out fast!) We've tried every meat except the ribs, sausage, and catfish. I'm a huuuge fan of their chipotle BBQ sauce. And you won't find better service behind a counter. Very friendly and eager to share their passion for good food. Would rate the sides 4/5, but some of them are really decent. It's very hard to find good BBQ places it seems like. Authentic bbq meat was definitely here. The food was good, when I cook I'm heavy on my seasonings so i would prefer more but even then I ate all my food. She was very nice, friendly and helpful to us. Gabby was wonderful, and within minutes the owner, Kari, was on the phone helping me plan exactly what was needed -- including gluten-free options. There are NOT a lot of BBQ restaurants in this area that I like. In fact, some of the bbq restaurants on here that have 4+ ratings SHOCK me. As the eaters have obviously NOT had good BBQ! Legacy is DEFINITELY NOT one of those! It's new, It's clean and most importantly, it serves very good BBQ!!! I had the following: Brisket-Delicious, Very tender with a light smoke taste. Turkey-Delicious, Juicy and also with a nice light smoke taste Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage-AWESOME! Juicy, tasty and great snap from the casing. Onion Rings- Cooked perfectly, delicious and will definitely be on my order next time! Smoked Mac & Cheese-Very cheesy/creamy and tasty. Didn't get too much smoked taste. Corn Muffin-Just the way I like it! Served cupcake style and was moist, flavorful and a perfect accompaniment. Service, well that's easy-completely like going over a friends house!!! I have to start by saying I give the food I had 3 stars, but added a star for the people who were running the place when I was there. First, the food: I ordered brisket and St. Louis ribs, but they were out of St. Louis, so I got baby backs. The brisket was so fatty that I was a little grossed out and disappointed in it as it didn't have much flavor and by the time I was done separating the fat from the meat, I had very little to eat (hey, that rhymed!). The ribs weren't very meaty and were a little dry, but I liked the original bbq sauce that I got for them. The sides, the fried okra and the mac and cheese were good. I currently live in VA and am transitioning to Palmetto, so maybe I'm just used to better BBQ choices here in VA, because honestly, Legacy wouldn't touch the top 5 within 15 miles of my place in VA. Now, the people running the restaurant, I'm not sure if they are the owners, but they seemed like it. A lady walked in after me, clearly struggled to comprehend the menu even though it was right there in her face, and she was one of those people who wanted something for nothing. I could tell she was a "PITA" right away. She was demanding, rude, obnoxious and kept blaming the employees for her own mistakes. The man and woman who were working there were extremely patient in explaining the menu, why the lady was wrong in her assumptions, etc. and they made her as happy as she could be, even though they didn't give in to her attempts at getting free food- good for them! They handled the situation very, very well. I was about to butt in and tell the lady to just give it up and stop being a PITA. Anyway, I'll be back, but to the owners of Legacy, if you're ever in Northern, VA, please visit Monk's BBQ in Purcellville to see and taste how outstanding brisket is made, let me know if you come here, I'm buying! read more

Oh my goodness! So glad to find this business. Went for the first time. Was greeted nicely at the ordering area. Ordered wings (which are whole). Got a half slab of ribs, smoked mac and cheese and the baked beans ( which contain brisket). Corn muffins completed the order. Several sauces are available self serve. All are really good. Smoked wings were the highlight. Just right smoke and so tender. Ribs didn't "fall of the bone" which is the proper way ribs should be cooked. I bought the pulled pork and It looked like they were serving prison slop, I was stunned at the way it was presented to me. They literally serve it on what looks like prison treys, I mean damn $20 plus dollars you'd think it would at least be decent but boy oh boy was I wrong. Their food is amazing! Got really juicy brisket as well as pulled pork and yummy fried okra and they have variety of sauces and also cater! They're open every day of the week 11 to 8 but on Friday 11 to 9. Certain websites are saying they're close certain days but that is incorrect. Cory was also behind the counter and praising some items and lets us have samples to help us decide what to get. Inside - being new its very clean and a bright location inside. There are a few tables to sit inside and eat, nothing fancy but has everything you need for a basic meal. Love the to-go sauce station, provides chart of each sauce and nice, sturdy containers to take them in Food - where to start?! I am a big fan of 4Rivers in Orlando and admitted that to this staff. They were up for the challenge! The meats were ALL so tender and soft, not overcooked or chewy. Even the smoked sausage was so tender, how is that?! The baked beans were so thick and smoked flavor, the mac n cheese was super creamy, perfectly el dente green beans, my kids LOVED the fried okra since it was super breaded, and the potato salad,... spice that kicked my taste buds a$$! Stopped by on my way home after seeing it for the past month or so. Glad I stopped as the food was pretty good. Greeted by friendly staff with a very clean looking store front. The portions were extremely friendly. I opted for the Smoked Turkey with Mac and Cheese and Tater Tots and added Smoked Sausage. The sauces were awesome and the only place I've seen locally to offer Alabama White sauce which went amazing with the Smoked Turkey. Only reason I took 1 star away was because I would've loved a little more snap on the sausages and a little more crisp on the Tater tots but otherwise great BBQ option this side of the Manatee River.
