Was in the mood for barbecue and this place was highly rated in the area so I went to check it out. The smoke was pouring out the back enclosed cooking area so I was already anticipating something good. When I entered the restaurant I noticed a few tables to eat at and an order counter. The place looked bright and clean. A gentleman greeted me as I entered saying welcome...that was nice. As I looked at the menu I couldn't find brisket anywhere and then there it was - a sign saying they no longer cooked brisket. I was bummed to say the least but decided to order a combo plate with ribs and chicken anyway. The plate meal comes with two sides and a roll and a choice of barbecue sauce. Family run BBQ / soul food. I had the pulled pork with the sweet heat sauce. Very good. I had collared greens and Mac and cheese as my sides. I really enjoyed the greens and the Mac and cheese was average but still yummy. The prices are out of this world reasonable. Great meal for a great deal. Secret little gem!! Saw it on a local community page and had to try it. We tried, chicken, ribs, pulled pork, potatoes, beans, collard greens and mac n cheese....everything was SPOT ON! The ribs fell off the bone by just touching it, amazing. None of the meats were dry or overcooked. The sides were good but not over buttery or greasy. They gave generous amounts of sauce since it was our first time, very kind. I've been encouraged to try the food here for years but have been unsuccessful due to not making it there before closing or the food is sold out, all good things if you're in this line of business. Now that I live nearby, I had to give it a go. So, I called ahead and asked if they still had food available (it was a little after 5pm on a Saturday), the young lady said yes but to hurry. Great customer service for sharing this information. I arrived 5 minutes later and there was a line. The restaurant is small but has ample seating inside and outside. The patrons were happy and from my observation very pleased with the meals, except for those in line as they'd just announced it would be another 45 minutes for ribs... I waited a good 30 minutes to make my way to the service counter, which wasn't bad after seeing how long the line was when I arrived. I ordered the combo plate which comes with two meats, and two sides. however, since I've not been there before and not likely to be able to get back for some time I ordered a little more to take home. I had the pulled pork, barbecue chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, baked beans, their garlic potatoes, a side of potato salad, and topped it off with a serving of their banana pudding that was said to be on special. My total for this order was just over $22 before tip, which is an amazing price for all of what I ordered. Now for the taste test, I generally rate things 1 through 10 so that's what I will do on the items that I purchased. I would give their pulled pork a solid 8.5, as it was tender, juicy, and tons of flavor and smoke. The chicken would be score a 6 as my pieces were dry, although having a decent amount of flavor. The collard greens-3, for me, did taste as if they came from a can and their appearance. The baked beans-4 again not anything special, basic from the can warm beans. The garlic potatoes 9.5, good flavors and not overcooked. The macaroni and cheese a 4. I give this score for the mac & cheese because for me, it was just basic noodles, some butter and cheddar cheese on the top. The potato salad gets a 4 as it had good consistency & the flavor profile was pretty good, however, it was too sweet for my tastes, and lastly, the banana pudding gets a 1 as it was just canned pudding, soggy wafers, no bananas and what appeared to be either marshmallow fluff or melting whipped cream on the top. There was no attempt in my opinion that this was a homemade banana pudding. All in all, this is a nice family run, community hub that based on what I've seen and heard has been around for quite some time. The staff were overly friendly and patient. I think I will visit once again once they have ample supplies of ribs available to give them another opportunity, and I also suggest that you give them a try to form your own opinion. Went here for the first time and thought it was very good BBQ. I'm from Memphis so I'm not necessarily comparing it to the best pork BBQ in the world. I would eat here over and over again though. Worth noting , we had several sides ... potato's in what seems like a butter sauce ( these were OMG good), green beans ( good), okra ( good) , coleslaw ( very good ) , some sort of corn fritter thing ( outstanding) Prices were very reasonable. Oh man.... This BBQ is the spot. I'm not a huge rib person but these were the best I've ever eaten! They fell off the bone by just picking them up... and what a flavor! We chose the sweet BBQsauce which was perfect. The pulled pork was also juicy and tender... That mac/cheese was so cheesy and creamy... and the fried okra was battered/fried perfectly, they were a bit salty for me but my other half loved them! The ribs were so good we put in an order of 7 slabs for an event next week! This is a difficult review to write...because I repeatedly go back, but I've learned to manage my expectations. Here goes: Positives: Local business, friendly owners (family), clean business, sanitary food prep area, great ribs, pulled pork. Negatives: Very slow service (consistently), mediocre food quality (aside from the ribs & pulled pork), frequently out of some items, difficult to order online. The sad part is this business has so much potential. The slow service (stand in line for 30-45mins consistently) seems to be acceptable to the owners as they have mo desire to improve processes. Although located in the middle of nowhere, C&K's food has made a name for itself. My best friend and I stopped by last month and enjoyed rib dinners inside of the location since it was some what slow that day. As soon as we grabbed a table and got comfortable, the place became swamped! Our rib dinners were nothing less than delicious and the servings were good enough to take some home for dinner that night. My favorite menu item was the potato salad but the corn bites also went very well with the ribs that literally melt in your mouth. This place is amazing! Whenever I visit my parents, we immediately go from the airport to C & K. Best ribs around! No need for sauce even though they are delicious! The sides are amazing. The facility was clean and the service was excellent. Unfortunately I chose to have a veggie plate. I asked the server if the collard greens were canned, her reply was "no they're chopped". I then asked if they were fresh greens and she said yes. Hmmm, since I can cook and know my greens, these were not fresh and tasted and looked pretty like canned greens. That was the first issue.
