I'm not sure if the establishment has since changed management because I didn't see the same people in there cooking and if that was the reason for the bland food and not even mediocre at best. I'm sooo upset I spent $60 on this junk. My poor dogs even turned their noses up at the dry unseasoned burnt chicken wings. The fish is fried in a tempura type batter yuck! And the onions rings I sent back once because they were too greasy but so were the second batch. First time visiting this place and I was pleasantly surprised. It's in a nondescript strip mall. The young man at the counter was very friendly and polite. We ordered the chicken poboy sub with old bay fries and crab egg rolls. The egg roll was tasty and quite filling. You get 2 with an order. My only complaint was that it was a bit soggy from the plastic carryout container it was in. The poboy was well seasoned and the fries were good but not crisp. The young man recommended the legacy sauce which was a mayo based spicy but not too spicy concoction. He also suggested mixing the legacy sauce with the sweet chili sauce and he was right! The young man working there on Friday, 2/2 was so polite and patient. He honestly left me and my husband in awe. About a 1-1.5: Legacy Carryout & Catering offers breakfast items (sandwich, sub, and waffles), salad (house or Caesar), fried chicken, wings, and tenders, sandwiches, subs, crab cakes, fried fish, grilled/fried shrimp, fried lobster, various combos, and desserts. The menu wasn't clear as well, as what you think would be a better deal happens to be a 'bargain' price when you have it as an add-on to another meal/entree. I came here to try out their popular 'Crab Fries,' which only comes in a 'large.' On top of fries, there was a whole lot of white sauce, which seems to be a combination of mayo and tartar with some house blend of seasoning. There were some crab meat, and the fries were right out of the fryer. Honestly, the item was pretty disappointing - what I thought would be a savory indulgence from the photos posted by the business and by other customers ended up being pretty bland. Also, the smell of it was a bit too much, and after trying a forkful, the whole thing was tossed. It seemed as if patrons generally do a call-ahead, as the wait time can get pretty long, depending on how many walk-ins there are as well as call-ins. Each order seems to be made-to-order and there's a queue. When your order gets called, the cashier, who also works in packing up the items, opens the containers up and shows each of the food to you to get your 'visual approval'. Just note not to touch the styrofoam cups for the beverages - there are signs posted! I guess it's for sanitary reasons, but I didn't see the cashier using gloves when she was transitioning between handling the cashier/money, packing the food, and giving the cups. I really hate to leave bad reviews, especially on black owned establishments, but this experience just didn't sit well with me. First off, I used to LOVE Legacy. The Fort Washington location had won me over big time when I lived nearby. So, it was only right that I visited the Waldorf spot since I was on that side of town. Mannn do I regret it. The unpleasant female cashier provided no greeting when we walked in and let alone even asked us what we wanted to order. How do y'all hire people like this? So, I really wanted to like this place but after a few tries this is what I found: First, the food quality is inconsistent. Sometimes my cheesesteak is perfect and other times it is bland, same with my shrimp pho boy. Sometimes my onion rings are prefect, most times they are burnt and/or the oil was old. Third, the wait time- whether you call in or order in, you will be waiting. There is no way around it. If you take orders in payment over the phone then you should start cooking that order when payment is received. If your defense is that you don't cook orders until people get there to keep from wasting food then, don't take payment over the phone. Last but not least, their business hours (and I use that term loosely) can change with the wind. I've driven the 45 minutes once only to get there and they had closed early with no notice. another time I stopped by while in the area and they were closed during business hours. Make sure you call first. The restaurant business is a tricky one but when they're on... They're on! However, it's the inconsistency for me. Hit or miss. Went today and spent over 100 on several orders. Arrived home to find crab fries were not in our order nor sauces we paid for. Mind you, we don't live next door and after spending this amount of money you expect your order to be CORRECT or CORRECTED with ease. Not the case. We phoned and informed them the .75 cent sauce and crb fries were not In the order. Wow...downhill from there. First they said bring the plain. Fries back.... then they wanted to credit our card (2 to 3 days to get credit) and then recharge everything minus the crab fries and sauce....*crickets* (over 100 order). Here we are trying to show support for struggling businesses and can't get items missing or even a credit for thr missing items. SMDH. On top of that, the hif chicken we ordered was cooked very hard, the sauce burned and were not hot. None of our fries were fully cooked. We won't be placing another order with them. I sent a complaint to the consumer affairs and BBB because as a business, if yiu mess up, you fix it. Waldorf location is just not up to par. The combinations legacy's puts together just gives me high cholesterol looking at them. The poboys aren't good, the crab fries are very salty and sauce doesn't really taste flavorful. The Hennessy tenders are very very salty and this is the case at both locations. This food is nowhere near good for you idk what it was hyped up so much, the first week the Waldorf one opened it was jumping (I actually live across the street) I was excited thinking we have a new spot that's convenient but boy was I wrong the crab fries disappointed me both times I tried them. I'd been on their Instagram all week drooling over the food pics getting excited for my cheat meal. I decided to order the steak and cheese sandwich with garlic parm french fries and fried shrimp. I placed my order over the phone and it was ready within 15-20 minutes. I couldn't get home fast enough, snacking on fries in the car. My sandwich was delicious and very filling, the shrimp was great too. It was the perfect cheat meal.
