My fish sandwich was so good, I had to bring my hunnie back down to have one. I'm still stuffed from lunch! The fish was seasoned perfectly! On a brioche roll that was so soft...veggies were fresh. Added some sweet potatoes fries...the only thing that was missing is a couple crisp pickle spears. Will definitely come back...(just not in a Friday night)....saw they had impossible burger on the menu so I'll have to come back and try that one of these days. And let me tell you- Club Auth Rd was jumping this evening....hahaaaa! No pics... just vibes. Pulled up to Apollo Burger after years--no real reason, just one of those "it's time" moments. Glad I did. I kept it classic with the original burger loaded with cheddar, pork bacon, fried onions, mushrooms, mayo, and lettuce, and went combo because... biggest bang for the buck. Fries + fountain soda had my total sitting around $23 with tip--no complaints there. That burger? Juicy, flavorful, and messy in the best way. The fries had that perfect crisp, I just wish they hit them with a little more salt--but nothing I couldn't overlook. Peeped a few new menu additions too. The "roll dog" (aka glizzy) caught my eye. Tried to level it up with chili & cheese but no chili--just cheese. Still might spin back for a plain one with fried onions and mustard. Hey friends! This place has been on my go-to list for a while. I tried to go once before but they were out of shrimp LOL. I ordered the Shrimp O' Boy. You can fries and a fountain drink to any entree for $5. The food didn't take long as it wasn't too busy. I really enjoyed my meal! The shrimp was cooked golden, perfect texture and seasoning. My only distaste is that I would've preferred the food on a hoagie roll. It was hard to eat on a burger bun. Fries were okay. -Customer service was great. The cashier was busy in the back when we came in and the cook let us know he'll be right with us, small things like this mean a lot to customers. -Restaurant did have a weird, dirty mop water smell. -Prices are average. -Plenty of free parking out front. -Plenty tables for dine-in. Well, I had a tricky burger made to order with Swiss cheese and sweet potato fries, and ketchup on the side. My son had a original fat bacon subtract cheese add ketchup with regular fries. My turkey burger was good. It was juicy, but I added the sweet potato fries on the bottom because the burger could've used a little more seasoning. They are a little lightheaded with the seasoning and they have their own original seasoning, which looks fantastic. My son's burger was the way he ordered it, but as he said, it could've used a lot more seasoning on his beef burger, and they could've put a little more sea salt on the french fries for both of our fries I had the sweet potato he had the regular. The service was amazing. I will say that the gentleman was very intentive. It is a bar/burger place so there were a couple of women in there having drinks and they were preoccupied the person at the register so another gentleman came over and helped us and he was very kind. I love the ambience because it tells the history of the DMV area and the Godfather of Gogo music Chuck Brown and it tells the story of DC from Woodworth and Lothrop and the original RFK Stadium so yes it's good. Just add more seasoning maybe included in the menu light seasoning, medium seasoning, and High seasoning just so that you could taste all of the flavors and they can married together perfectly. and like I said, our food was hot and fresh so that part was amazing. We waited about 10 to 13 minutes total and paid like $23.86. No drinks were included on this meal. This place doesn't have anything. When I came, they didn't have whole wings, the fountain drinks weren't working, and they were charging the same amount for a can of soda as for the fountain drinks. I visited this restaurant 3 times before deciding to leave a review. My first visit, I tried a burger, since this is a burger spot but I was very underwhelmed by the burger. In my opinion, the burger meat lacked seasoning and flavor (I know 2 other ppl who tried different burgers and said the same). On my next 2 visits, I ordered a Shrimp basket (~$16), which I enjoyed!! Me and my family decided to go out for burgers. After a search I found Apollo and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. We got there during happy hour where we started with margaritas. This is a basic drink but you can gauge a good bartender based on the simple drinks. My sister and I love trying new burger spots and WILL travel to test out a new one wherever we see fit to do so. Burgers @ Apollo is a Black owned burger spot that is about a 40 minute drive from the western side of Baltimore County. The restaurant is located near the Temple Hills area, about thirty minutes from DC. We visited on a Monday, a bit before 3pm. There were a few patrons eating late lunches and a few grabbing food to go. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. I was uncertain of who was the owner of the establishment, but all of the workers we encountered were very nice and accommodating. My sister and I wanted the full experience, so we went all out and ordered burgers, fries AND shakes! As we waited, I looked around and noticed the homages to the DMV Black culture. Black and white photos neatly line the wall of the restaurant. Before our food came out, I went to the rest room. Nothing special, but it's worth noting that it was nice and clean. Our food arrived to the table, fresh and hot. The burgers are absolutely huge with real beef patties. The sesame seeded buns were perfectly toasted and the veggies were fresh. The pickles had a delicious crispy snap! These were not from the jar as far as I could tell. I will note that if you ask for raw onions on your burger you will get a huge raw slice of onion (I'm assuming these are the onion slices used for the onion rings). That being said, if you want raw onions, suggest that they be sliced thin. The burgers were delicious, but the super star of the show were the onion rings! Omg, they were GOOD! The sauce that came with them was also very tasty. The batter was well seasoned and the rings were nice and crunchy. You can tell they were made in house. The milkshakes were soooo decadent and rich! Both the strawberry and chocolate flavors were worth getting. Thick and delicious. No complaints there. A great way to end a delicious meal. There was nothing to complain about at Burgers @ Apollo! First black and female owned!! Sooo they sell hotdogs which aren't on the menu yet...I LOVE ME A GOOD HOTDOG! When I first saw it I was like "this looks like a regular hotdog ‍. This place seems like it's on the verge of closing. Nobody's ever there. The food has really gone downhill too. None of the same folks are working in the kitchen. The new bar staff is super nice, but it feels like they've been in "training" for months. The music is being played off Pandora or something; for every one song, there's a commercial. Creating a playlist is not hard. One of the restaurants next door has started serving hookah and it has stolen all the customers from the neighboring businesses. When it was recommended on a Friday I wasnt eager to go, but if you don't have a real plan during happy hour and don't set up before the rush, you miss out. I mentioned the long wait to one of the ladies who worked there, and she said it was due to shift change, and the lady before her forgot to communicate my order to her. I asked for a refund. The lady said she could not refund the money immediately because I did not pay cash. She stated she would call her admin to initiate the refund and that it would take 3 days to process. The lady refused to call the admin while I was present and promised she would later. I never received my burger or my refund. This is a newer spot and it's kind of small but is like a hole in the wall bar. Drinks are strong. They host weekly Happy hour and karaoke on Wednesday. Drinks are half off during happy hour 5-7. They were very busy. I Recommend getting there as close to 5 as possible to have a seat. I ordered the Jive Turkey which is $8 right now and it's a Turkey burger that you can fully customize with cheese, bacon, veggies and the various sauces they offer including mambo sauce. They have a variety of other sandwiches and also serve chicken tenders. The sandwich was delicious and made fresh to order. Fries were also piping hot and perfect. This spot is a blast -- I met some friends there after work because I heard about a karaoke happy hour. Usually those things are separate -- people enjoy happy hour and THEN sing. But in this case, you can do both at the same time!!! It also gave me an opportunity to support a fairly new (2021) local Black-owned business. So I heard about how poppin' the place gets, so I was surprised by the size when I stepped in -- it was relatively small! The bar could hold... 6 people, and there was a high table for 3-4 folks near the front door. There was a long bench with some tables along it to allow for multiple groups of 4... Comfortably, I think 15-20 people can be seated. There's plenty of standing room, but if it gets crowded and you're just trying to order out, it can definitely be awkward for some. Maybe it's good they close at 9 -- any later and it'd be a CLUB lol. So I sat at the bar and saved a seat for my friend... by 5:45, I'd say the bar was pretty full... around 6:15, all the tables were. My advice is to get there as close to 5 as possible if you want your desired happy hour seating. They have physical menus and online menus -- you can order online, which I recommend because I don't think the staff really got to take a breather from the second I got there. Once you do that, your order, whether it be a drink or food, comes out in a reasonable time. Their happy hour is from 5-7, and offers 1/2 priced cocktails, $5 wines, and some deals on shots, rails and beers. I tried their sidecar and long island... that's some STRONG stuff, but for $7, very good! I was able to freely get water from the fountain machine nearby as well. They have a new turkey burger deal for $8 where you can customize it however you like! I decided to get jalapenos, mambo sauce, tomato and lettuce on mine. I really enjoyed it!! Undecided about where to even begin, because I like the works, it was recommended that I try the Apollo Burger... with the works!! It comes pretty standard but I agreed that added gilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, egg, and even avocado was more my burger style. The Apollo was juicy, well seasoned, and humungous! It was was too big for me to eat in one sitting but it made for even better leftovers. The DMV Chicken sandwich with mambo sauce that my guest had along with the Chicken Tenders was the bomb as well. Visited this spot twice. The first time, we ordered for pickup online -- they were rather busy so service was a little slow, but they never stopped checking in with us as we waited. We were greeted with smiles as soon as the door opened, and welcomed to a nice relaxing atmosphere with live music. I could have been upset about the wait, but the food was delicious. The bay filet - that fish was seasoned and fried to perfection and the onion rings were possibly the best tasting onion rings I have ever had. Whatever is in that batter is top notch! The Shoreberry milkshake was soooo good - the real strawberries in it made it even better. So that first night was good, I had to return. The next day for lunch I stopped in after doing Wreaths Across America and needing a nap. Again, I was pleasantly pleased. It wasn't as busy, so spent a little stone speaking with staff, and it made for a nice afternoon accompanied by great eats and that chocolate city shake is something I'd drive back to Maryland for. I went here with my brother for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by this black-owned and operated burger spot. The staff was very friendly and you have the option to dine in or takeout. We opted to dine in. You pay for your food prior to sitting and everything was freshly prepared. The fish came out hot, extra crispy, well-seasoned, and moist. My burger was also cooked to perfection, and was not dry at all. The fries were hot and crispy. This place has a full bar and I am almost positive it turns into a lounge scene in the evenings. Because it was so early in the day, we opted not to get drinks, but I will definitely be back as the cocktails featured on the menu are at a good price point and the food was good. Ironically enough, the best sandwich at a place called Burgers @Apollo is...their CHICKEN sandwich. Don't get me wrong, the burgers here are good, but the DMV is amazing. A ginormous chicken breast is nicely breaded and deep fried until it reaches peak GBD (Golden Brown Delicious) state. The chicken is then placed between a brioche bun with pickles, lettuce, and sweet/salty/sticky Mambo sauce. I also add grilled onions and jalapenos at no extra charge to amp up the flavor. I usually dine in when I'm at the office, and when the sandwich hits your table, you first notice how large the portion size is. I usually cut it in half and eat half at work and then save the other half for dinner. And then after your first bite, you have that nice textural "crunch" followed by the noticeable but not overpowering seasoning. The toppings and mambo sauce complete the flavor profile. You can add the seasoned fries if you have a large appetite, but I find the DMV is more than enough; in fact I usually have to drink an afternoon coffee to fend off food induced sleepiness. read more

I've been a handful of times since my original review. Based on multiple experiences, I would say it's a solid 3.5. The pros are all listed in my original review: - tasty food with the ability for some customization. I've had the original burger and also The DMV chicken sandwich -fries (the right parts crispy and NOT salty) -ample parking The downsides: -lack of online ordering (this may be in the works, so perhaps only a temporary issue) -customer service...not always the most welcoming vibe (there's inconsistency) I still recommend Burgers@Apollo.
