Best experience I've had with a Dr. with my vet aggressive dog. I highly recommend this office. I've had two situations that have been handled above my expectations. My shepherd mix had to have knee surgery tried to get in with my "normal " vet office they said they couldn't get him in for 3 months or longer, granted this was 2 or 3 years ago and my dog was in horrible pain. Not to mention I had with this office for over 15 maybe 20 years. Luckily for me I had a friend recommend Animal Clinic North and the Dr. was able to do the surgery himself and 2 or 3 years later my dog is still doing amazing. Which brings me to today with my vet aggressive dog that is 8 years old and I've been taking him to the same vet the whole time. Well that has been my biggest mistake. The place I was taking him, let my dog scare them into not treating him. Well let me tell you... this Dr. at Animal Clinic North did not let my dog be the boss. No no no he showed him who was the boss and with in 5 minutes with a little wrestling he had my dog being submissive and got his shots with no more lip.. The staff, doctors and care received here are second to none! They are flexible with appointments and the costs are reasonable. They have office hours that are accommodating and don't charge an "after hours" fee if you walk out the door after 5:00 as some places. I had to get into a vet last minute for my dogs ear infection. Everywhere was booked but this place accommodated me quickly! Everyone was so nice and I felt like the vet took her time with my dog and I and didn't rush us out. Dr. Berggren has been an integral part our our family healthcare since I was a child. As the years past he would fix our furry friends when they were broke, advise us of do's and don'ts and even be a shoulder to cry on when they had to be laid to rest. Doc Rick and his entire staff are amazing. Thier prices are fair and typically they can get you in fast. It's funny now that I am an adult and have a family of my own, I really appreciate his kind approach and no bullshit diagnosis. Since the new owners have taken over, this animal clinic has completely changed. They are only concerned with money, not the animals. A previous vet there told us to order our heartworm medicine on line as it is cheaper. The new owners will not ok the prescriptions now as they dont get the money that way. They also force unneeded tests on the animals, again for the money. Now I know why they have a hard time keeping staff; the staff that cares about animals leave. Came for a senior wellness exam and vaccines, with really no presenting concerns on our end. Let them know that our dog had intentionally lost about ~15 lb in the past year. The vet proceeded to suggest that he could maybe lose 5 lb or so more. (But seriously, why?!) Whatever. We went on to discuss and agree on CBC/CMP labs without the added thyroid test, as it did not seem necessary. She reiterated that she did not think he has any thyroid issues. She came back, letting us know that they ran labs, including thyroid, and everything looked fine. We asked about why she ran the thyroid labs when we had just talked about how it wasn't needed. It got weird. She then sent us on our way, and we had to remind her that she had not yet administered the vaccines. So then she did. As we were paying, she let us know that his SDMA levels actually came back significantly elevated. (And obviously, we did not pay for the "extra" she decided to tag on.) We were grateful she let us know, and asked her what that stands for and what that means (because we have no idea!) She proceeded to go the computer and pulled up (what I'm guessing, the IDEXX website or perhaps just Google) and directly read off the screen. What the f. Could this entire interaction have gotten any worse!? Highly would not recommend. read more

I would give this place a -10, but the rating scale doesn't allow it. This business was SOLD, and the new office and staff are H O R R I B L E and incompetent. How sad because the former staff at the old location was wonderful. The office has moved locations, from 120th to a little patch of buildings off of Washington Street. This office has the ugliest and most unwelcoming atmosphere, bar none. Shabby with bad paint, and no hint of decoration at all. It looks as though they are going to pack up their rundown office trappings in the middle of the night and leave town. The woman at the 'reception' desk was not only incompetent, but unpleasant and devoid of any sort of professionalism. I made an appointment on Tuesday morning for Wednesday afternoon. I walked in on Wednesday afternoon, and was advised that I didn't have an appointment. I gave the date and time of the call and showed her my phone, but the office is so poorly managed that they couldn't figure out who was taking phone calls on just the previous morning. Whomever it was so obviously incompetent that she couldn't figure out how to enter the appointment into the schedule. Every one of the staff were beyond eager to flee the place at 5:00 on the dot, and couldn't be bothered to honor the appointment. This is not the place to entrust the care and safety of a beloved pet. It gave me the creeps just to stand inside the door. There are lots of GOOD vets in the Thornton/Northglenn area. My husband and I could not be happier that we found this vet!! We initially went to Dr. Madole with our girl, Layla. She was having anal gland issues/repeat infections. For a very fair price, Dr. Madole performed surgery to remove her anal glands. Everything went smoothly and Layla is a healthy, happy girl now! We take Layla and our other dog, Jordy, to Animal Clinic North for their annual visits now. Everyone is very personable and wonderful with our pups. We leave with much smaller bills than our old vet in Arvada! Super reasonably priced, and I love that they don't push things on you to spend more. They are honest with us about what we need and don't need. We took Jordy in to get his teeth cleaned and they did an amazing job on them. They seem to really care about the pups and EVERYONE in the office is always super friendly to our dogs. We love going here so much! read more

Everyone at Animal Clinic North is wonderful. I've been going there with my fur kids since 1994. Doc has saved several of my creatures lives. Dr. Skelley and Dr. Ruggles are terrific too. I just had to put my Gizmo to sleep and both of us were shown so much caring and compassion. It made a difficult decision a little easier. I know that the kids are cared for and about. Even though it was a Saturday morning and I'd never been there before, they got me in on a same day appt. The staff was exceptionally friendly and caring and the Vet was reassuring but thorough while examining my pup. I didn't feel pressured into excessive procedures, just what was needed to diagnose her. We felt important to them, not like our presence was taking away a Saturday morning. I left feeling like we'd gotten the best possible care and I will definitely be using them for both of my pups' long term care.. One of our dogs got sick so I called Animal Clinic North and we had an appointment within a few hours. Every staff member we interacted with during our quick visit loved up on my sick dog and spoiled him. We recently took our lovable labby here for a check up after we noticed that she was chowing down on grass like a goat in a hay field. Long story short, we loved it! Sue was so kind over the phone and when we walked in to fill out paperwork. She instantly put my mind at ease. The rest of the staff was also very kind! The veterinarian we saw was gentle and respectful with our doggy and was very laid back. I never felt pressured or scared into any treatments or medications. They got us an appointment within a few hours after we called, on a week day. They have separate entrances for dogs and cats which is also helpful for the stress level (both animals and humans included). We will be back for more annual check-ups in the future! read more

Called and spoke with Sue today to schedule an appointment for my cat. Was very specific with why I was calling, explaining that he is dealing with mouth pain (with which the clinic treated him on his last visit- aka, it was in their records). After a detailed explanation of why I was calling, Sue said, "I'm confused, are you calling to schedule an exam and vaccines, or for a dental appointment?" Don't know how my specific explanation of the reason for my call was missed. And I do understand that her computer was telling her to contact us to schedule an exam and a vaccines appointment- but I wasn't aware of that. Actually received no call, letter or postcard on the matter. I'm really disappointed in the way she handled the call. She was rude to me, not hearing me, and unapologetic, she couldn't have cared less when I told her that I would find a clinic that would treat their clients respectfully. read more

He and the wonderful staff there saw my beloved Chloe through her final months, weeks, and days with professionalism, kindness, and compassion. Recently made a move from the Longmont area to Westminster and needed to find a new vet for my 2 dogs. Found this clinic on yelp and I am so glad I trusted the reviews, as I just got back from an appointment with the doc. One of my dogs has had diarrhea for the last week on and off and they were able to get me in right away and thoroughly assess him. I really feel like they, the receptionist and the doctor, cared about his well being and were very attentive to both of us. The whole staff was very friendly, honest and efficient.
