Master bedroom 2
Judy H.

So disappointed with the lack of upgrade in the 2 bedroom Villa. 1st day, arrive with lots of notice on "if" we lose any pool towels we would be fined $25 each (mind you these towels have multiple stains on them and are in poor shape, we used our own beach towels due to how old and gross these looked). 2nd day- We noticed a pile of dead bugs in the master bedroom near the French doors, was hard to see due to the tiles being a dark brown color...but they were bugs alright!! Yuck!!! My husband spent the time to vacuum the entire 1300sq ft villa just in case. Our 5yo almost stepped on the pile of bugs while playing... They offered to spray "raid" and a maintenance guy stopped by after we had cleaned up. Smh. The day before we checked out we received an email asking for a "to do" list by us... Put a load of white towels in the wash, run the dish washer with dirty dishes, take the trash out to the trash bins (outside near the parking lot while it was almost 120 degrees on day and average of 115 degrees during our stay)! List goes on and on...yet charges the guest $150 departure cleaning fee. Hmm who's actually doing half of the cleaning before we need to check out? Ridiculous. If you are expecting a high end stay don't bother. The villas need a major upgrade on all furniture, and bathroom tiles etc. Sofa and dining chairs are so old and dirty I used the white queen size sheet to put over our sofa, to somewhat feel ok to sit on it during our stay. Pools are heated over 80 degrees all day, it's an issue because it was over 110-120 even at night. It was unbareable and multiple families were complaining and left like we decided to, not the smartest move when it's peak summer season. Online photos are def nicer than in person. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Don't charge your guests a cleaning fee if you're requesting they do half of the cleaning for you

Cockroach

The Family and I come to this area every year . We usually stay at the Marriott resort. We wanted to try something different . What a sh*****t show ... This place was Nasty!!! As soon as we opened the door and walked into the living room, we find a big cockroach, after that we fine several more running around ,( That's a infestation problem.. Both bathrooms were dirty Hair on the floor and shower, we go to the rooms and pull up the sheet and we fine hair as well , The A/C and the mini fridge in the master bedroom dont work .we go to the kitchen and open some cabinet doors and fine mice dropping. So we call the Property management to see if they can resolve the problem . They say we will send somebody to freshen up . 10 mins later they show up with a can of Roch spay and supply to clean the bathrooms less then 3 mins they were out and said they were done .. lol I got to the kitchen and the mice dropping where just push out to the floor from the cabinets . There where just going to leave that sh!!!!!t on the floor . I had to tell them to clean it up .. Hands down one of the worst place to stay Nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡¡!!!!!!!

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY. Came here to check out a property this past week. This resort area is right under the mountains and has the most stunning views. There are so many restaurants nearby and the whole surrounding area gives off such a nice aura. The architecture is beautiful and the pools look so relaxing. The gate staff was incredibly friendly - but the views of everything is unmatched!

We stayed here on short notice, getting away to celebrate our engagement. It was so lovely. Our villa was clean, beautifully appointed and perfectly located. Our bed was beyond comfortable. Slept like babies. We had a patio where we enjoyed our meals and our location was very private. The clubhouse and pools were just down the garden path, past orange trees and vine covered archways. We spent our days floating in the pools and working/resting in the cabanas. Such perfect bliss. We are already planning our next stay. So very pleased. Highly recommend

Wow, wow, wow! This hotel was exactly what I needed. From the moment I arrived, all I wanted to do…read morewas stay, relax, and enjoy every bit of the property and that's exactly what I did. The views of the lake were absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite moments was sitting outside in the morning with a good book, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. There is also an outdoor patio area where you can eat and take in the scenery. I loved seeing the fireplaces around the property too; I can imagine how cozy they must be during the cooler months. Now let's talk about one of the biggest perks: the pool is truly open 24 hours. Not "almost" 24 hours, actually 24 hours! I definitely took advantage of that and found myself enjoying the heated pool at 1:00 a.m. It was such a relaxing experience and something you don't find at many hotels. What really made this stay stand out, though, was the customer service. Every single employee I encountered was kind, welcoming, and eager to help. From check-in to check-out, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a great stay. The only potential downside is that there are no elevators. It wasn't an issue for me, but if you're traveling with a lot of luggage or have mobility concerns, it's something to keep in mind. I wasn't able to try the complimentary breakfast, which is offered from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., so I can't speak on the food. But based on the rest of my experience, I would absolutely stay here again. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with beautiful views, a heated pool you can enjoy anytime, and outstanding customer service, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Title: Beautiful hotel - but a confirmed booking was suddenly withdrawn…read more I truly wanted to love this hotel. In fact, I still wish our stay there had worked out. For context: every two years, I donate my time to mentor a small group of aspiring photographers who fly in to work with me for about a week. It's a non-profit initiative that continues the legacy of my own mentor when I was a teenager. For the upcoming workshop, we planned to start with two days around the Salton Sea, and this hotel looked like a wonderful fit. After some research, we contacted the hotel and asked if they could match an offer we had received for this hotel from the German travel portal HRS for five double rooms (two beds per room) for $1,848 all-inclusive for two nights, including breakfast. It was slightly above our budget, but we were willing to make it work. The sales manager replied: "I think I can work with you on the rate. I just want to make sure a single king-size bed in each room is ok and if 6 rooms will be enough for your group." We confirmed that arrangement, adjusted our group so most participants would share beds for the two nights, and accepted the sixth room offered to accommodate everyone. We then: - confirmed the booking - received and returned the credit card authorization form - drove to the hotel to inspect the property in person - cancelled the alternatives we had on hold Two days later, we received another message from the hotel explaining that the rate had been misunderstood internally -- it had been read as $1,848 per night rather than for the two-night stay. Unfortunately, despite a long email exchange, the hotel ultimately declined to honor the arrangement and suggested we look elsewhere. The result: we had to restart the search on short notice, and I will now make another 500-mile round trip to inspect the replacement hotel. That was disappointing, especially because the property itself looked lovely and we were genuinely excited about staying there. Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how they are handled. In this case, the solution was to ask the customer to absorb the consequences. If you plan to stay here, I would recommend confirming rates and all conditions very carefully, particularly since they upcharge a resort rate - and when scouting it, it felt like a very nice small boutique hotel to me, far away from a resort (which was fine to me, as we were looking for a place to sleep and leave after breakfast ;-)

You have the option to valet or self-park, either way you'll be paying for overnight parking. Check-in was a breeze and our room was larger than we expected and clean. I booked here because I have a toddler and knew they had a splash pad, lazy river, wading pool, and other regular pools. The first day we got to the pool around 3 and finding chairs in the shade next to each other was easy. The next day was a different story. Guests will go out to the pool first thing in the morning to lay out their towels and then leave it unattended for hours on end. We also noticed the pool looks great in the early part of the day but by the late afternoon the pool is murky. I get it, that's going to happen when there's that many people using the pool but still. I only recommend this hotel to young families. I couldn't imagine coming here with just my husband. There are kids everywhere. They dominate the pools and you'll see them running through the lobby and down the halls. None of this bothered us with our toddler and like I said, I booked here knowing what I was getting. This is solely a warning. Don't book a romantic couples getaway here thinking it'll be relaxing. Stick to the boutique hotels!

I spent $1000 on top of that we have a $45 valet fee for every day and poorly maintained. The rooms were not clean upon arrival, and overall cleanliness throughout the property was lacking. To make matters worse, the air conditioner did not work and our room was at 78° and I called the front office and no one ever came up which is unacceptable at this price point. The pool area, which is supposed to be one of the highlights of the hotel, was also disappointing. The water did not appear clean, no where is the waitresses to come to our pool after we spent over 1000 for the weekend. For the price charged, I expected a much higher standard in terms of cleanliness, service, and overall upkeep. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I would not choose to stay here again.

So what differentiates this from other Palm Springs area resorts? The service, by far. The property is phenomenal and the upkeep and maintenance is good, on par with other places. For example, at the pool, we found straws from the previous guest, etc. not a deal breaker, but something to observe. But everyone I interacted with genuinely seemed like they wanted us to have a good time. If it was fake, it was very good acting. From the valet to check in, amazing! Javier checked us in. 7 out of 5. Stress free. The pool area, 8 out of 5. Off the charts. Attention management: I stay at a lot of hotels and resorts. And though I'm sometimes overly generous with my ratings, I can honestly say Dru is the best server I've had, ever. She should run the joint! I wish I could give her a raise. Evan was pretty bad ass too and should be commended! Will I be back? 100 percent. Amazing property, rooms are great, staff is awesome. Food is good, but avoid the breakfast buffet at Rockwood. $40 for powdered eggs is no bueno! Other than that, you'll love it here!

The staff was attentive, and everything felt well organized. We had dinner at Aquifer65 & JW Sushi Bar one night, and it was fantastic. The rooms are a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the property, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. The pools, grounds, and amenities make this a great place to spend a long weekend. I'd definitely recommend staying here--just be prepared if you're visiting in the summer. The 104-degree desert heat is no joke, so plan on spending plenty of time in the pool and staying hydrated!

We will definitely come back just because of this service alone. On other days Elvia was super helpful, always aware of who needed water poolside and anticipated when we wanted to order food and drinks. We went one day without any room refresh service that the hotel made up for with extra waters and detailed service the next day. The only thing I'd recommend to the hotel is to do more detailed cleanup of their buildings on the exterior areas, especially in the corners. Lots of dust and webs. I think this level of detail would help elevate the feel.

The non-alcoholic version was complimentary whilst checking in - a great way to welcome in one's guests! And unlimited throughout, no matter the time of day. The food was incredibly tasty. The sushi tuna was so fresh, it looked like it was about to do the backstroke off my plate, and the avocado tasted like it had been picked from one of the resort's own trees minutes before lunch. There are two pools. The larger one is perfect if you've ever wondered what it's like to be a guppy in an Olympic-sized aquarium. I adopted the smaller pool as my personal bathtub and, for a few glorious hours each day, had it entirely to myself. No poolside service here, but the peace and quiet more than made up for it. Since I visited during the off-season, the bar closed surprisingly early - by 9:30pm, even though there were staff around and thirsty guests who were more than willing to keep the cash register busy. The room was clean, and that's saying something. No mysterious objects lurking under the bed, no fossilized food crumbs hiding when you moved a chair, and everything felt well cared for. There were, however, a few uninvited guests. Somehow mosquitoes made themselves at home in the bedroom despite us never opening the screen door, and the ants appeared to be hosting what looked like a family reunion in the bathroom sink. Thankfully, they were minor annoyances in an otherwise very comfortable room. My only real suggestion would be expanding the spa menu. Massages and facials are wonderful, but I'd have happily signed up for a blowout after spending half the day in the pool, instead of having to embrace my "Brillo pad chic" hairstyle for the rest of the afternoon. Haircuts, styling, or even spray tans would have been fun additions. The Tommy Bahama store was nice, but I was surprised that absolutely nothing was on sale. It's summer- throw us bargain hunters a flip-flop once in a while!

Rooms stay cool, and they have blackout curtains which I love. The bed is comfy, but the bedding is a little lackluster. Comforter is thin. The room is a large size, but it seems like there's a lot of underutilized space. There is a table with two chairs, a sofa chair and a bench. No dresser to put clothes in, but a decent sized closet. Unfortunately the same weekend we were here there was some sort of cheerleading event and we could hear girls screaming everywhere. At the pool at night, and next door through the adjoining room door and even through the wall in our bathroom. I called to complain, and they were apologetic and said they would take action. As such, I have stayed in a long list of Marriott brand properties, all were great, however, the Renaissance Esmeralda stands out above the high standards of the others. My first experience staying at this magnificent property was over the 2018-2019 New Years. Not only did we get to enjoy the wonderful experience at Renaissance Esmeralda, we went down to the great New Years party in the lower level between the bar and stairs/fountain. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following year to celebrate New Years and have stayed a few other times when we had family and friends visiting. More recently, while celebrating my 50th birthday, I stayed at five different Marriott properties over the course of my birthday and the days leading up to it. The fourth stay/night was at Renaissance Esmeralda and was by far the best! My experience there exceeded the wonderful stays I had at the other four Marriott properties, one of which was a W. The Renaissance Esmeralda also exceeded my expectations compared to a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage a few months ago. From check-in to check-out, my experience there was outstanding to say the least. Charlie checked us in and provided exceptional service, as did Jonetta at check-out. It happened to be the eve of my birthday, so I was able to wake up at my favorite Marriott property ever! I was upgraded to an absolutely beautiful and large suite, which had panoramic views of the beautiful mountains, the one-of-a-kind resort style pool area and more. We arrived and found the suite that was absolutely impeccably clean, and a very nice and thoughtful surprise, a piece of birthday cake along with a bottle of wonderful wine. We also very much enjoy and appreciate the updated suites with their mid-century modern style, especially the cool bathroom wallpaper with some of Palm Springs' best mid-century modern homes. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast where Amparo provided exceptional service and food. In both the evening and the next morning, we took time to enjoy the refreshing pool area. I also very much appreciated the covered garage parking with complimentary EV charging, where we were able to charge my truck, so we didn't have to stop in the morning before heading back to Redondo Beach, allowing us more time to enjoy all the greatness Renaissance Esmeralda has to offer. Finally, we like to walk each morning with my service dog, and the property and surrounding areas couldn't be better, as there are many grass areas and some nice shaded spaces. We are already planning on returning the Renaissance Esmeralda in November when we will have family visiting, and since they are golfers, they can enjoy the adjacent beautiful course. I highly recommend this outstanding resort and property for any couple or family who wants to experience the absolute best that Marriott and the Coachella valley offer.

Unfortunately, while I was showering, I noticed that the water was not draining. Because I was so tired, it took me a moment to realize that my feet were standing in several inches of dirty water. When I removed the drain cover, I was horrified to find a large clump of thick black hair measuring approximately 3 inches by 3 inches and about three-quarters of an inch thick blocking the drain. I immediately got out of the shower and thoroughly washed my feet, but by then I felt physically ill. I went to the front desk to explain what had happened. The staff seemed less than sympathetic and offered me two options: move to a room that was not as nice as my current one or wait for housekeeping, although they could not tell me how long that would take. I explained that I simply wanted to take another shower as soon as possible and asked if housekeeping could be expedited. My request appeared to inconvenience them, despite the fact that I remained calm and courteous throughout the conversation. When housekeeping finally arrived, the experience became even more disappointing. The housekeeper came without any cleaning supplies. Instead, she picked up one of the washcloths from my bathroom and used it to wipe away part of the hair. No disinfectant or cleaning products were used. She then looked at me and, in a rude tone, asked, "Is that all you need?" I was completely shocked by both the lack of professionalism and the absence of any attempt to properly sanitize the shower. Fortunately, I had taken several photographs of the hair before housekeeping arrived. I returned to the front desk and showed the pictures to another guest relations employee, whose reaction confirmed that my concerns were justified. She immediately called over the manager on duty. After seeing the photos, he apologized and offered to move me to a pool view room with a larger balcony than my other pool view room, which I appreciated. However, by that point the damage had already been done. I was still nauseated from having unknowingly stood in filthy, backed-up water containing someone else's hair, and I was emotionally drained after what should have been a relaxing start to my trip. After such a long drive, this was the last experience I expected, and it significantly impacted my impression of the hotel. I hope this experience is taken seriously, not only because of the obvious sanitation concerns, but also because guests deserve to be treated with empathy and professionalism when issues like this arise. I sincerely hope steps are taken to improve both housekeeping procedures and customer service so that no future guest has to endure a similar experience.

This time around, there was a bit of confusion with our room booked, through Booking (not the actual hotel), and Rene, Denise, and Jay were all extremely helpful in getting us the room we needed. I came last year in June and September, when renovations were happening, and now that they are done, the hotel looks great. I always enjoy their full breakfasts, in the morning, and a coffee/tea station that is always available. The past few times, I have visited, now include different tacos each morning, and many breakfast items to choose from. They also have Social Hour on Wednesdays, which is a nice touch. Social Hour seems to be more regulated than a few times before when people, who were not guests, were coming in causing a major disruption, both in the kitchen area and pool. One area that should be highly considered is the overall cleanliness of the room, especially with these new renovations. My bed spread/top blanket was not clean. It smelled musty and dirty as if it's not being washed between guests. I pulled this off and never used it during my stay. The thermostat was also very dirty with dirt and whatever else. I always bring sanitizing wipes to clean down surfaces and they came in handy. In addition, I always use the kitchen area to make something or use the dishes. On many occasions, including this visit, every dish, glass, or utensil I pulled out had crumbs, dry food, or smudges on them. There is no soap or sponge in the kitchenette, so I do bring my own, but these should be fully cleaned and sanitized before each guests arrival. Upon leaving, I did a full dishwasher wash of every utensil, glass, and plates/bowls in the cabinet.
