I'm new down here and have been hearing about Legends. Made it there this weekend. It was awful! Beer is horrible! Understaffed, staff was rude and an hour to get our food. When we asked about our food 45 mins into our wait, the female bartender said "it's coming can't you see how slammed they are right now" and gave us the dirtiest look. It took the bartender 10 mins to even acknowledge us when we sat at the bar right in front of her. We were only able to get one drink because she never checked on us or asked if we wanted another drink. When our food arrived an hour so later she set it down on the bar in front us and walked away without asking if we needed anything or another drink. The food was mediocre at best. My buddy and I both left saying that we will never set foot in Legends again! read more

Amazing atmosphere if you are on the terrace. Love the view! Their food is also delicious, and of course, the beer. My favorite right now is Hopfest. Great place to bring guests from out of town as well. Just make sure you get a seat outside. read more

Food was decent. Although I don't know that their tater tots should qualify as a "premium" side. Beer was quite good. 3 varieties of hoppy, pale type ales. All good. Service was attentive. Only stopped in for a beer and for the view. Saturday afternoon was not busy. Weather was nice so opted for the patio. Nice view overlooks some industrial sites nearby but also the James River and the Richmond skyline. Pleasant experience. I had the Legend Golden IPA. Delicious beer. Full golden/amber beer flavor with great hops balance. Next time in Richmond I'll have to stop in for one of their seasonal beers and some food. read more

Went on a beautiful day and sat on patio, beer was great and service was good. I ordered the mussels with a butter garlic type sauce. We waited hour for our food and with them busy we thought it was fine I was enjoying beer. When our food came it was cold. The butter sauce was like hard butter at bottom of plate almost like it sat for awhile. The pasta we ordered was cold and like leftover I reheated. This place is a true contender for the worst service in Richmond. I sat on the patio and waited and waited and waited and waited. Then I got up walked up to the bar and got my own beer. Must say the two bartenders are wonderful, i was served within a minute of arriving. The bar itself was packed with what I would like to call, the smart people. If I ever go back again, I will only sit at the bar, as it is the only place there, staffed by competent people. Then I returned to the deck, found the rest of my group had started to arrive. We started with 2 tables and eventually annexed a third. Again we fell subject to the wait staff, with wait being the operative word. Our waitress saw three people sit down and promptly went on break or something. Fifteen minutes later, our new folks finally place an order, along with a few orders from those already there. Eight drinks, five dinners. Wait, Wait, Wait, oh and lets not forget wait. We finally get drinks, which go to four of the wrong people. Finally the food, who ordered the hard tacos? No one, everyone in the group ordered soft. Three people kept the hard tacos rather than ------ You guessed it wait. I think I hit all the good parts, now onto the bad. Got there around 5 on a sunny Saturday so we expected a bit of a wait. Sat at the bar for 40 minutes until our table was ready. Ordered an appetizer and entrees for 4 people. We started to think they forgot to put the app in since it took about 40 minutes to get cheese dip with soft pretzels. The waiter then informed us they were so behind that they put a hold on food but our order made the cut off and it would be about 40 minutes. An hour goes by, still no food. We decided to leave but our waiter said our ticket was next and it would be about 3 -5 minutes, so we waited. In the meantime, tables that were sat after us were getting their food. 20 minutes later we had food. We all got burgers which seemed like they were pre packaged frozen burgers. I hate to be so critical but this was really one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant ever. The manager (via the waiter) comped us one round (4 beers) for our trouble. A nice gesture but when you are a restaurant for 2.5 hours and spend over $100, you would expect maybe a meal to be comped or something more substantial or at least the manager to come out and apologize. My fiancé and I went here on Saturday for lunch. Aside from the good beer, the food was amazing. We got a flight of all 14 beers they had on tap/cask and the waitress was really good at explaining what we had and the flavor profiles. We were also able to catch the brewery tour. We waited 50 minutes for nachos and wings. We talked to the manager about the wait and he offered to take care of our tab. Since we were fed up with waiting we decided to leave without eating. As we were leaving The restaurant The manager yelled across the restaurant to the servers that we did not want our food and they could eat it. There are many times in my life were I got great service and fantastic food, THIS is not one of those times. In fact, I didn't even GET my food? The service was absolutely awful, it was obvious that no one working cared at all. After waiting 10 minutes for the Waitress to come take my order I waited for another 45 minutes to get food that never came and the waitress never came over during that time to even tell us that the food was on its way either. People who got there AFTER us got there food BEFORE us. I would never go there again, waste of my time. Never go there. read more

Summary: Great view, terrible service, sub par food. Look elsewhere for food and beer! My friends and I gathered in Richmond to hangout and we were so excited to visit Legend Brewery. We had a large group (11 people) but were willing to wait as one might typically have to when eating in a large group. We were sat right away but were prefaced with a warning that the kitchen was backed up about 20-30 minutes and we would have to wait to order. We were more than willing to drink beer for a while. Our waiter took our order approximately an hour after we sat down. We drank many rounds of beer, so we were satiated in that respect. When our food finally came 2 hours later, it was sub par. My friend ordered a chicken salad but the chicken was under cooked and microwaved at best. Others within the group were not impressed with the food considering the long wait we endured-meaning we got our food at 10 pm. There were maybe 3 other tables of people in the brewery and not many outside on the deck. None of our food or drinks were comped and we were very patient. I'm not sure what happened, but this place needs to get its act together. read more

My first time and LAST time! The customer service in this establishments is terrible. We arrived during happy hour. It took the server almost 10min to come to our table to greet us and take our drink order. At which there were plently of servers standing around not doing much; the hostess had to notify a server that we had been sitting down for a while and to approach our table. She then proceeded to ask "Is it 7:00pm yet?" To see if happy hour specials were still going on. Being that it was our first time there, she did not properly introduce us to the specials and drinks. She came over with a very rude and nasty tone demanding "what do you want to drink" and only focused her conversation with one person at the table and not the others. She only got one drink order and ignored the other person at the table. Very rude and not friendly. We decided to take our business else where. Went here on a Thursday evening just for drinks. I had their tripel. My boyfriend had their Oktoberfest beer. Both were very good. However, our server, Tracy, had our table on the patio and she took a while to get to us. It made up for the few minutes before she greeted us that she brought waters for us with her. She checked on us maybe 3x within the 45 mins we were there but when we were ready to leave, she was nowhere to be seen. Not even on the patio. It took her a long time to come back out, we assumed maybe she was busy with tables inside also. It's pretty to be able to sit on the patio there which has umbrellas at most tables; by the trees next to the water are so tall that you can't see the river at all. Still not too bad for outdoor seating. If the chairs weren't cheap plastic ones, it would've made it nicer. Super uncomfortable to relax on a patio in those and makes your bottom super sweating in the summer time bc it's plastic. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Legends on a beautiful June evening to enjoy some outdoor dining and music. Once seated, we ordered a couple of beers and some nachos with cheese dip. After the beers arrived, we ordered dinner. Eventually a plate of nachos with melted cheese was delivered to our table by a member of the wait staff. Given that this was our first visit to Legends, we assumed that this was the same nachos and cheese dip that we had ordered as an appetizer from the menu. About ten or fifteen minutes after the nachos arrived, our waitress came to the table and asked "if we had ordered those nachos?" We said yes, that we had ordered them from her when we ordered the beers. She stood across from us, flipping through her tickets, and stated in a berating way that "those were the nachos that the table behind us had ordered 45 minutes ago". We repeated that we had ordered nachos from her and the wait staff had brought these to us. She turn her back on us and went back into the restaurant, leaving us feeling like we had committed some mortal sin. After a few moments, I went into to explain that we did not need to be treated like that, and that we had ordered nachos from her and had no way of knowing if the wait staff had made a delivery error. She was curt and said "it was being taken care of" and "to go back to my table". I am a reasonably successful business person in my late fifties. I have traveled extensively and have never, ever been treated so rudely by anyone. I waited until I could speak with a manager, explained our experience, and asked for my bill. We simply wanted to pay for what we had received an leave the place. The manager searched for our tab on the system, apparently not finding it. The manager apologized and said there was no charge. I was not looking for any freebies, and have always paid for what I received. We did not go to Legends to have our evening ruined by this incredibly rude young woman, but she certainly succeeded in doing just that. We will never, ever go to Legends again and will instead make it a point to tell our friends of our terrible experience with the rudest waitress we have encountered in more than thirty years in Richmond. read more
