It's weird to think the closest Billiards spots respective to Kittery would be in Portsmouth, NH. As such, we capped-off our 21st anniversary night at this place for a few friendly rounds of pool. Right up front, I'd like to get some caveats/minor gripes out the way. While these might not necessarily be within this establishment's control, folks coming here should be forewarned about the parking. As the page states, there is street and garage parking; both of which are paid. Whilst I'm not sure exactly how much street parking is, normal garage parking is $2 per hour, cash only. However, this was the 3rd of July. Which meant there was a fireworks show scheduled that evening (little to our knowledge at the time). Which also meant...."pay us 10 bucks right now" to park. So, we did. Good thing I had a 10 dollar bill on hand, eh? Well, I guess there's an elevator tucked away on the side furthest from the pool hall. If you're not able to find that, you'll end up like wifey and I climbing 4 flights of stairs till our lungs give out from hyperventilation. Option 2 would have been to walk WAY too many feet over to where ever the hell the supposed elevator was. In other words, we had neither the patience nor energy left to go on a scavenger hunt for the elevator. Anyways, things get better once you've survived the endurance of city parking. The interior of this place immediately told me we were in a legit 21+ bar and games establishment. The decorum is inviting and really sets the mood for a fun night out with friends and whatnot. You get your table at the front register. Prices were fair all around. I think I only paid 7 bucks per glass of wine, too. The billiards hall has the type of service you'd come to expect in such a lounge. The servers wander the tables to accommodate any orders or requests. Take caution: they do not allow beverages to be taken with you into the restroom (not sure why anyone would do this, considering the hygienic concerns with that...but whatevs). So, don't get caught up like that one guy who may or may not have a drinking problem. Moving on.. The tables themselves are level and sturdy. Plenty of cue sticks available or you can bring your own as we do. Everything looked clean and kept up. This may seem minor, but it's a big deal. I've certainly visited my fair share of billiards halls where the restrooms were so gross, I wanted to order a hazmat suit prior to using the john. Not the case with Legends though. The late Queen Elizabeth herself would have been proud to sit upon this porcelain thrown. The staff were johnny-on-the-spot. I really don't know what else to say about them...other than they were easily worth the 25% tip. But I'm torn on whether or not we'll return and it's for a slightly complicated reason. Basically, we'd easily return for the establishment itself and everything they have to offer (we've yet to try any of the food here). However, it's the parking situation I detest so much that holds me back. I dunno. Perhaps I'll work up the nerve, grin and bare it, and just force myself into the sardine can of a parking lot across the street once again. Perhaps I can manage to park closer to the elevators next time. A close, conveniently priced hot spot for those feeling froggy enough to have a rousing game of darts, billiards, and whatever else. Legends & Billiards Tavern receives 4 brilliant side-pocket shots out of 5.

I ordered catering from company (Win-Waste Innovations) to feed 65 people. It was phenomenal, everyone loved the deviled eggs & mac n cheese. It was super easy to order everything with the GM as well. I've never had more people come up to me and say this is one of their top favorites from places I have ordered from in the past!! Highly recommend

One of the bartenders told me to "shut up". Very rude establishment, treats women with no respect.

You wouldn't think it by the name, but Martha's is a Lebanese restaurant with a great menu that won't overwhelm you. The owner and his staff are extremely friendly and overall just wonderful people. I went crazy and ordered the Steak Shawerma, 3 piece Falafel, baba ghanouj and hummus. The steak shawerma came with rice pilaf and a garden salad and was so good that I'll be going back to try their chicken one. The falafel was perfect. It wasn't oily and had just the right amount of flavoring and crunch. The baba ghanouj and hummus were to die for. I seriously had to keep myself from eating the entirety of the containers. They are currently remodeling the dining area so I can't comment on the ambience, but for what it's worth I like the quaint look of the place from the outside and the ease of ordering from the window. I'm a stickler when it comes to Lebanese food, but I'm so happy to finally find a Lebanese restaurant so close to me that it has officially become my go-to place for Lebanese food from here on out! I highly recommend Martha's as your next place to eat!

The menu has tons of options. I couldn't pass up trying the pork belly Bao bun sandwich and I'm glad I got it. The bun itself usually Fall short with many places. Well, not here. It's their main attraction. Pillowy and the perfect size to carry all the fillings. $10 for one of these bad boys and that may seem a little on the higher side for a bun but this thing was packed. I'd pay that again in a heart beat. The pork belly was cooked well. The fat was rendered perfectly and it was tender. If they did it roasted and got it a little crisp, boy it'd be a 10/10 but honestly, the freshness from the pickled onion, the cilantro and the sauce they used on it was all wonderful. Loved it and when I'm in the area I'll surely come back. Especially considering I ordered and got my bun in 5 minutes flat. I could sneak away from my family real quick, have my bun and be on my way before anyone got too worried. Thanks Bao 155!

We frequently pass through Kittery, often stopping at Kittery Trading Post and Bob's Clam Hut, but…read moreon this trip we ventured off of Rt. 1 and discovered a little hidden gem...The Black Birch. This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

Well, I'm happy that they were because dinner here was SOOOO good! The bartender helped us choose a bottle of champagne to start. We shared everything. One of each of the deviled eggs each. The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Still giving 5 starts because it was so good and everyone was welcoming.
