Mike asked someone else to take care of haircut who did such a shoddy job. What's the point of scheduling an appointment with someone specific??? We checked out a new barbershop today, and the barber who cut my sons hair, Jonathan, was awesome. My son HATES getting his haircut simply because he hates to be itchy lol so getting him to the barbershop always involves a lot of peeping and persuading. Jonathan was super kind to my son and talked to him the entire time. They talked about video games and Pokémon, it was awesome! My son didn't even realize how much time he spent in that chair. The shop is clean, easy to get to, a lot of parking, great music, chill vibe, and all the barbers are nice. If your a 49er fan you'll want to drop in and see if you can run in to one of the players. Jonathan cuts a few of the players hair. My son was super excited to sit in the same chair as Kittle and wear the same cape as him. My husband and son used to drive to Napa to go to the "Executive Room". Haircuts were great, but too far to go anymore. This is their new "local" place. Waited 20 minutes after my appointment time and still didn't get helped. I had an appointment at 1:00 marked as no preference for the barber since I had never been here before. I showed up on time and they told me B would take care of me in a few minutes because he was on the phone (personal phone call). After sitting patiently for 20 minutes, I asked how much longer it would be. B was still on the phone. I gave him a couple more minutes and left (of course B tried to say he'd help me right away as I was walking out). What a joke. No thanks. read more

Took my son there today for a cut. Made an appointment for 3pm. Arrived early and saw that they were crowded and there was limited seating. So I took my boys around to kill time. Came back at appt. time and had to wait an extra 25mins till my son was seated. The barber did a really good fade but cut my son's hair on top just a little too short. When it was done I gave the barber $40 cause cut was $30. The barber kept the entire $40 and didn't offer change back. So tip is 35% these days. Wow. Not sure if i'll be back. read more

I'm sorry to be the first to write a negative review but the public has to know... right? Let me start off by saying that Mike is a nice guy. With that being said, he has only been in business for 2 months and lack of experience shows in his ability to cut hair. I came in for a reasonably easy cut, short on the top (5) and faded on the sides... I told him I was not lucky enough to have a nice rounded head so he would have to adjust to my sides to make the lines looks nice. I even showed him a picture of what I wanted it to look like in one of the magazines he had on the counter. Easy right? What I came out with was an excuse for a haircut... I have to tell my friends for the next 2 weeks, that I was helping someone out with getting their cosmetology license. I haven't had a cut like this since I tried cutting my own hair. I thought I was doing my due diligence because I found him on YELP... just goes to show you that you can believe everything. Mike, I'm sure you won't be hurt by this one negative review... but the public needs to know, that they CAN get a nicer looking cut for way less then you charge... in my opinion of course. read more

After I was told that I would be seen next for a haircut, I waited an over an hour as a walk-in & then I waited another 20 minutes to see if the 1:00pm appointment would show up so I could get a haircut. 2 different barbers were asked if they would have time for me but, no dice. I was told the 1 o'clock appointment is running late & he's on his way at 1:20!!! This 1 star is for service & don't get me wrong, these guys have amazing skills just don't bother walking in. Hommie Mike is a stand up guy and very friendly, his chairs are dope messagers that are original (aint no barbershop in this area i know got those). Ok, despite all the good reviews and 5stars, this place isnt all that. I mean this place is a professional barbershop, then i expect a perfect cut everytime, especially for the price. His clippers were a little dull and kept getting caught in my hair and i had lil missing patches with taddy bits of hair sticky up (not noticable but i was able to notice it when i ran my hand thru my hair) and my line up was alittle off. Dont get me wrong, I do recommend this place to people because there are not much barbershops in this area. But there is one place id rather get my hair cut than here (but i wont be an ass and give up the place). As u can see i wont be coming back here. I'm heading to Coachella later this week so a haircut was needed for two reasons. 1) It's expected to be in the 90s so I had to ditch my shaggy hair to counter the heat and 2) Gotta look good. I usually go to Sleek Salon in Fremont where Kelly does an awesome job but she was fully booked over the weekend. Since I had to head down to Valley Fair Mall from work yesterday, I thought I'd find a place in between my office and the mall. After looking up a few places on Yelp, I settled on Legends Barbershop in Milpitas. I made an appointment on their website the night before for yesterday, Monday at 7pm. They usually close at 7pm during the week but they'll take after hour appointments for an extra $10. I didn't think a $30 haircut was that unreasonable even though I usually spend $15-20 but I thought what the heck. ATMOSPHERE: It's a total dude place. Nothing fancy about it, a few mounted flat screen TVs, several barber chairs and a mellow vibe. All the barbers are young, somewhere in their late 20s to mid 30s. All chill guys. SERVICE and HAIRCUT: When I set my appointment, I didn't specify which barber I wanted even though you can choose between Mike, Jay, J.R., Jordon, Don or Josh. I just clicked "No Preference". However, when I showed up, I got exactly who I wanted. Several other Yelpers mentioned Jay and that's who I got. He was a really cool guy. Down to earth, mellow, chills and listened to everything I wanted. This haircut experience was different than any other one I've ever had because it took about 45 minutes. They really take their time making sure to touch on every detail. They take out an old fashion blade at the end and clean up anything their clippers can't cut. OUTCOME: Jay went a little tight on the sides which is something I'm not a big fan of. He also styled my hair in a way I'm not too keen on either. However, when I got home, rinsed off and did my hair, I really liked it. Yeah, it's a little tight on the sides but that can be avoided next time. Plus, I told him what I wanted plus a small change because I was looking for something different so I told him to run with it. Other than the sides, he did a great job all around. My hair is even and very well cut. I would totally go back. I guess I can't complain too much about my sides being tight. The forecast calls HEAT this weekend so anything to help cool down is, well, COOL! read more

Best Barber in Town! Mikey really knows how to take care of his clients :) He cuts my boyfriend's hair, my brother's and my godson's on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Their shop is definitely A++ from the classy, sophisticated look as well as being a very clean environment. They have nice comfortable massage chairs that have hot & cool settings. I would know this cuz I sit in their massage chairs while my BF gets his cuts :) They did everything themselves from the ground up and with knowing that he takes a lot of pride in his work, being a young entrepreneur inspires you too do what you love. I used to love this place because of their streamlined appointment system and the quality of service they provided, but the last 3 times my son went here for a haircut, his appointment was pushed back between a half hour to an hour. We get no phone call, in advance, to tell us that they are running behind. It's only when we show up that they tell us ... oh we are behind and you have the option to wait or make a new appointment, which can be several weeks from that date. We are only able to make appointments evenings or Saturdays so the times available is quite limited. Plus when we do make appointments we schedule our other appointments around it. I expected that if I have an appointment (a time slot allotted to me) that it is honored and not pushed back on the day of without warning. I will be looking for a new place for my son to get a haircut, one that honors their appointment times. read more

Talk about "above and beyond." After my usual barber went on vacation (and im going to a wedding tomorrow) I needed a haircut and I couldn't gamble on supercuts or some other cut joint. Yelp told me this was the best place around so I ventured out to Milpitas. The shop was kinda hard to find but I found it. I was walk-in and there were a few people in front of me. 5-6 I'd say. It did take a while since theres only two barbers but I watched them as they cut the other customers' hair. Finally it was my turn. I told Mike what I usually get and he made a recommendation since my hair is kinda....thin in some areas. After he cut my hair he told me he was going to take straight razor around my hairline . I'd never had that before but its a REALLY neat trick. All the lines are so much better defined and it looks even cleaner. I'm getting that next time, for sure. And it was no extra charge! Whole thing was $15. I saw another review that highlighted a good point. Ya know how after each haircut @ supercuts or greatclips, they just call the next guy over? These guys clean their clippers, sweep the floor, get clean towels, wash their hands and get a clean comb out of the blue kool-aid stuff. That is how its done. read more

My view on these guys have changed over the course of just 3 visits. Don't get me wrong, these guys are great on a personal level, but they aren't as good as I remembered. A year ago I came to Mike as a first time customer. He did a great fade and I came away impressed. I stuck with mike for the next few months and the cuts have been hits and misses. I often had to go home and fix things here and there to even out his work. Overall they were minor and I figured I could swing it. For $15 it wasn't that big a deal (I usually left a 33% tip). In April the shop had grown in how many customers it had. Mike was always booked and I did a walk in. Jay, the other barber in the shop took me and told me he'd give me a great cut. He did just that. I felt comfortable with either one of these guys giving me a hair cut from this point going forward. I came in for a cut in May. They had bumped the price from $15 to $20. Jay took me this time around, but the cut didn't look as good as it did before. I asked for the same #1 on the sides and 1/2 an inch off the top with a fade. After cutting, Jay slapped some pomade in my hair and then gave me a mirror to observe the cut. It looked fine at that time till I went home and showered. That's when I realized the hair was uneven all over the place and a tad bit longer than I'd like. In June, I came back for another cut with Jay thinking it'd be better with him this time around. Jay used some pomade or something for my hair and handed me the mirror. Again I went home and discovered uneveness here and there. In July I figured I'd give it one more shot. It was Mike this time. He normally uses a ginormous comb to align the clippers when he cuts my hair, but this day he didn't. I opted not to let them put that stuff in my hair this time. When all was said and done the sides of my head looked uneven. I asked for a #1 and so at this point there wasn't much he could do to salvage it. I walked away from this shop for the last time because of these three experiences. This is why I'm giving them just 3 stars. I've since been looking for another shop and so hopefully I'll find one with a more careful hand. read more

This is my first ever review on Yelp, and what better place to rate than Legends. This place was perfect! Since I recently moved to the Bay from Chicago, I was worried about finding a barbershop worthy of competing with the shops back home. Unfortunately my nav app sent me to the wrong location (look out for the Milpitas liquor store as a landmark) and I arrived at the shop at 6:45 when they closed at 7. Mike told me that there were 3 people ahead of me and that he closed at 7, but when I told him how it took me an hour to get there cause of traffic, he told me I could wait and be seen after his other clients were done. Although it was around 8:15 when he saw me, I did not get the feeling that Mike was trying to rush me out. He offered some suggestions on a new cut and went to work. He is a great down to earth dude, so definitely feel free to chat him up! When all was said and done, it was 9pm, his dedication to his craft and clients making a HUGE impression on me. Thank goodness for Legends Barbershop! Prior to being a regular here, my son had developed a fear of getting his hair cut because of all the bad experiences he had gone through. We'd go to random ass places where *ahem* their Engarish isn't spoken so well -- I know, my fault. But as soon as Legends Barbershop opened its doors, we were in there like swimwear ;) Mikey does an exceptional job with making my son feel comfortable. He will put on a cartoon or movie that he knows will help with distracting my son so he doesn't feel so apprehensive with the whole ordeal. I mean, a loud buzzing noise right by your ear is a bit scary for a 5 year-old. Mikey will also let him enjoy the benefits of their ever-comfortable massage chair. Mikey understands that although he is just 5 years old, he has the right to benefit from this uber-fancy treat. My son has the best time while he's here, and before we know it, he's all done. The shop is quaint and very, very clean. Their professional demeanor and attention to detail is evident not just in the cuts that Mikey provides but in the cool ambiance and home-grown atmosphere they create. There is an extensive list of services that only a true barbershop can provide which is exceptional as there aren't much around this area that fall under this category. Mike is LEGIT. Its really hard to find some that knows how to cut my hair due to my oddly shaped head but he was on point! Best hair cut i got since my cousin left for the airforce. I got a taper fade which i like to call a "business fade" with lined up side/sideburns, had him scissor cut/trim the top, finished up with a straight edge shave to look oh so fresh. Yes he does it ALL, i will definetely be coming back. The shop is small, but hella clean and modern. Had The Office playing on the flat screen while i was getting my hair cut in his massage chair! Pretty fancy stuff. I highly recommend this place. Had me looking like a legend fa sho! Tips/Recommendations: Call/text him for an appointment. That way you dont have to wait. Place is small, it is in between a liquor store and another store/shop. Park in the bigger plaza on serra/main st. and then just walk over. Decided to try this place out based on all the positive Yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. Mike's really good at what he does, that's really the bottom line. There are a few good barbers out there but Legends really stands out in the crowd: - When you're waiting for a chair to open up, the magazine selection is so large and enticingly relevant to anyones' interests that I picked up a magazine instead of playing with my phone. - Mike takes the time to REALLY clean his tools before going to work on someone's head. That's honestly the first time I've someone go (WAY) BEYOND the bare minimum of cleanliness. - The barbers chair is a massage chair and is heated. - Mike still uses a straight razor, an art that's slowly going away everywhere else. - Mike keeps it real. There are a ton of barbers I've gotten a cut from and I've had to force conversations with (we all know what I'm talking about). No awkwardness or forced topics here. - He'll give you a cut that's exactly that you asked for and works with you along the way. This place might not be the place for the older guys, but it's still worth a shot. Price is a little more than I'm used to, but you wont get off the chair feeling like you overpaid. The experience was really rare. Great environment + Great cut. My head's the cleanest it's EVER been. He always takes his time on the customers hair and I've been getting compliments left and right ever since I started going to legends. All the guys in here are hella talkative too so it's not awkward or anything. $25 Plus tip for a haircut but I think it's going up to $30 on October 30th. The difference between here and others is that these guys are stylists and artists. If you're looking for a quick haircut, head over to your $8 salon and get it done there. Seeking an eye for detail and a steady hand - here is where you need to be. I had my hair done by JR, and I am pretty sure I'm going to be sticking with this guy for awhile. Big ups to Mike, hes one legit barber. I'm from Sacramento and I'm out here for training for a week and my shop in sac is closed on Sundays. Mayb they just wanna watch some football right? But anyway, this dude Mike hooked me up with a clean fade and lined me up. Even gave me that straight razor shave. Never got that from any barber shop in sac. Never any silent moment always choppin it up. He charged me 5 bucks less then my barber and this dude got "MASSAGE CHAIRS". CLEAN! I highly recommend Legends Barbershop, this place is coo. I said it after my haircut and I'll say it again here: best haircut I've ever got. It came out soooooo cleeeeaaaaaaaan. I heard about this place through Reggie B. and I'm glad I gave it a chance because this is the only place I'll be going to from now on to get my haircut. First of all, Mike was slapping Drake the entire time I was there. Drake is the maaaaaaaaaaan. When it was my turn and I sat down in the chair, I was surprised to find the chairs had heating/massaging on them and we had full control with the remote! I gave it a good go before Mike started cutting and it felt great! Mike knows exactly what he's doing. After a bit of questioning we both agreed on the type of haircut he was going to give me and the outcome was beyond what I expected. He trimmed my bushy, messy beard as well and lined it up along with everything else perfectly -- even my mustache and that little spot of hair underneath my lower lip/above my chin. He took his time and that's what I liked most -- no rush in his art. A very friendly guy, he knows how to keep a good conversation going too. I highly recommend this place to everyone out there -- Mike is your BEST bet -- especially for his price. For his price I can go to Supercuts and get a 15 minute piece of crap haircut.
