We have been coming for years and Legends' is consistently great. We have also always had great service, even when we booked a last minute reservation on a very busy Friday night last weekend. We love the salad bar, which is offered with each entree, or you can get on its' own. We also always order the artichoke dip. The seasonal special bone marrow tenderloin is delicious - we are hoping that they make it a staple on the menu! Brunch is also great, be sure to get the chive scones that they provide at the beginning of the meal, they are to die for. Overall, great food and service, would highly recommend. Ask for a table in the "balcony" area in order to have more space. read more

My Husband LOVES this restaurant. At the risk of offending some, I feel like it's kind of a place for the older crowd. Plus, I don't love the food. I like it, but don't love it. However, they have recently added some new dishes to their menu, and I found one that I do really like. I don't remember the exact name, but it's basically a pasta with kale and lots of other vegetables - which is right up my alley. My Husband loves both the meatloaf and the schnitzel. We usually have very good service, the salad bar has a nice selection, and the piano player is such a friendly lady and will play basically whatever you can think of to ask for. We also really appreciate that they take reservations. So many places don't take reservations now - and that drives us crazy. read more

My wife and Iate there last night. My food was good, hers was inedible. Her chicken tasted like ham. I had the flat iron steak and she had the sundried tomato pasta with chicken. The salad and calamari wasn't bad, OK but I was out of iced tea when they brought me my entree and I finished my steak and sides before our waiter asked if I needed a refill. Very solid lunch at Legend's on a Tuesday. You walk in and are immediately confronted with the hostess station. Immediately to your left are the homemade desserts of the day. This was smart, it gets you thinking about how good dessert looks before you've even sat down. Immediately behind the station is the salad bar. It had the usual suspects you would expect: cheese, assorted veggies, potato salad, pasta salad. There are 4 types of greens, which I appreciated. The potato salad has a lot of dill, which I like. I went with the house dressing which was good. I didn't get the soup and salad for lunch, but given how well appointed the salad bar is, I can see how you can get quite a lunch by going with soup and salad. I was seated in the west corner of the restaurant. There is a bar with seating where your feet are on the floor. This is rare and preferred for me. But, I was not at the bar. That's fine, it gives me an excuse to come back for dinner. My server was friendly and attentive, but he forgot my iced tea, so I didn't get it until my entree arrived. He didn't charge me for it, which I appreciated, but I would have rather had it during my salad and paid the $2.50 or whatever it costs. For lunch, I went with the turkey meatloaf. For $14.95, you get a trip to the salad bar (I didn't ask if I could have gone back, as I didn't need to. But, maybe you get multiple trips), 2 good size slabs of meatloaf, mac n cheese, and the vegetable of the day. The turkey meatloaf was flavorful and seasoned well. Additionally, it was very moist, which can be an issue with turkey. It did have a balsamic ketchup on it that I didn't love. Could have used more balsamic. The mac n cheese was solid, but didn't blow me away. The sauce wasn't too thick and adhered well to the pasta, so it wasn't a soupy mess. It just wasn't strong enough for me, i like a sharper cheese flavor. The vegetable of the day was one of the best Brussels sprouts dishes I've ever eaten. It was sauteed and seasoned perfectly. If feasible, I'd suggest they add this to the regular menu. It was a very large lunch for $15, and given the quality of the food, I felt it was well worth it. This review if for Legend's Restaurant, named after Mr. Legend (as I found out from reading the menu), not Sooner's Legends--although I plan on going to Sooner's Legends for Monday Night Football tonight. The Food: I had iced tea to drink. It's iced tea. I started with a Blue Cheese Wedge Salad which was huge, smothered with blue cheese dressing and bacon bits. Tasty, but just too large as a starter. My entrée was the 8oz sirloin steak. The steak was pre-sliced and had decent flavor, although I've had tastier steaks before. One gripe, the steak wasn't as tender as I would have liked, although if I wanted a higher quality experience I probably should have ordered a higher quality steak. For dessert, I had the waiter recommended lemon creme cake. The cake was outstanding, the tartness of the lemon-filling was perfect and the cake itself very moist. The only drawback for me was that the frosting was too plentiful and the sweetness was overpowering. I was able to balance out the cake and the frosting in a good ratio (yes I'm a nerd like that) to achieve a perfect flavor balance. The Ambiance: The place is classy in a very laid-back old fashioned sense. There's nothing really snooty about the place but you just get the feeling like you are eating in a respectable place, something like a Sunday night dinner at home with family. The Service: Service was just fine. You could tell that the staff was mostly college kids from OU. The service was good, we were seated in the back corner, out of the way. One minor mishap, the server took away the check before we had time to put our payment down, it was no problem as he just came back and picked up our card. It was good for a laugh, nothing negative. The Verdict: The food was slightly pricey for my taste, I suppose you are paying for the ambiance. This is a good place to come and eat nice in the area, but I'd guess that in this college town, there might be better places for the college demographic. If you want something less college-town rowdy and more of a family owned classy feel, this is your spot. read more

People rave about the salmon because it is really that good. I do not usually eat fish. However, I gave the horseradish crusted salmon a try. And while it's not a filet of cow, it was mighty tasty. I had it with the salad bar and mashed potatoes. The salad bar had some intersting selections. I can't say that I'm a tabouli or three bean kind of man. I am, however, a Cocacola Cake kind of man. That was a damn fine cake. Don't let the name fool you. This is chocolate cake with fudge icing. The waitress informed me that the Coke kept the cake moist, which it did. A wonderful meal with great service from Tyler, and Karen's piano music and friendly conversation was a really fun touch to the evening. My Wife appreciated the gluten free menu, and really enjoyed the burger and salad. The chicken crepes were unique and I'd get them again in a heartbeat. My fourteen year old has been on a lasagna kick lately, and was not disappointed at the Legend's offering. Amazing Caterers - Every year we host a huge banquet and every year our very hungry guests blow through the buffet in less than 30 minutes - leaving nothing behind for the latecomers - This year I wanted things to be different. Legends is a great, romantic restaurant with delicious homemade food - but I had no idea how amazing their catering was. I was able to have a sit down with their manager and explain we wanted good food, but we also need a lot of food. They have so many really fancy options - but we opted for some middle ground fare. The smoked turkey was divine and the smoked glazed ham delicious. Yet, it was really the quality of everything that made this stand out. The rolls were exceptionally good. The crackers were amazing. The cheese plates ample. The strawberries in season served with whipped cream and brown sugar nicely displayed. The pasta salad was also lovely with lots of yummy touches. As well the tiny stuffed red-baby potatos with cheese, chives, and cream were well-loved. And finally, the homemade chocolate chip cookies and bars were to die for - so rich. So then I got nervous a few days before so I ordered extra food and I decided to upgrade to four cakes and punch. Again - I am so glad I did because they make their cakes homemade and they are both beautifully decorated and sinfully delicious. My favorite is the chocolate coca-cola cake, but they also brought marble cake and lemon cake. My guests were so pleased! And there were leftovers (even though people ate quite a bit) It really was worth every penny and I can only imagine how amazing a really, really fancy catered dinner would go because our high school awards dinner was a success. read more

Went in for dinner tonight, first time there. My wife is in a wheel chair, so always worried about trying new places. Its an older building with narrow doors, standard 18" wheelchair barely made it through both doors to get in. Got seated at a table, much brighter inside than I expected, usually places with candle lit tables have dimmer lighting. Service was very good and attentive, menu suggestions were good. We both did the wedge blue cheese salad, was big, more like a half head instead of a wedge. Was very good :-) I had the flat iron steak, medium and it came out a little pink, so was perfectly cooked. The seasoning was on the salty side, but other than that, it was very good. My wife had the Lobster Mac & Cheese which was very good. For desert, they only had half a slice of the cola cake, so did that and a half slice of the brownie. Both were good, brownie won though. If you are looking for a small, non-chain type of place, this is a good choice, a tad pricey, menu and atmosphere could use some updating and this place would get 4 stars easy. read more

I had Legend's cater a breakfast for 100 people. We had 3 kinds of quiche: spinach and cheese, bacon, and southwestern chicken. There was also the most delicious savory cheese and onion biscuits, beautiful fruit with poppyseed dressing. This meal was a hit! Just some of the fruit was left. Legend's is the best Restaurant in Norman, hands down. The service here is impeccable. It's like the Ritz Carlton of restaurants. Their Sunday Brunch is fantastic and there's always a wide-array of things to choose from. I'm trying to omit a lot of carbs from my diet- which can be a challenge when eating out; but not here. Their chef-special omelette was great as it was fluffy, flavorful and served with a side of fruit. My significant other ordered a Mexican Burrito and it looked fantastic. They offer mimosas for $2.95 and they are fresh and have an adequate amount of champagne for what your paying for (compared to other brunch places that water down the mimosa). If you're ever in Norman and want to treat yourself to a special brunch; go to Legends, and then stay in town for dinner, as the menu is very exquisite, delicious and will leave you completely satisfied. read more

This is a nice restaurant with a wide variety of menu choices. They don't seem to have one specialty. I had the wedge salad with blue cheese for a starter and the portabella and arugula Panini for the entrée. As much as I liked my wedge salad, the salad bar is definitely the way to go here. Next time I go back, I'll skip the wedge and Caesar salad and go for the salad bar. The Panini (looked like a wrap to me) was really good and I would order it again. My wife had the portabella dinner, which she said was great. Our other two friends had the salad sampler and the Creole Rubén. Both looked really good. Everything was good here, but nothing really blew my socks off. The service was attentive, buy very inexperienced (I wonder if it was our waiters first day on the job). The ambiance is nice and a little upscale for a college town. I'd definitely go back to Legends for lunch on my way to Oklahoma City. Best Caesar salad in town. Always a fresh fish or beef special too, often with a good sauce of some kind. Classic dining in a setting slightly more upscale than most restaurants in Norman.
