This is unquestionably the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. We moved to the Village of Milford almost 15 years ago and we were anxious to try the local restaurants. We tried Lei Ting and decided it was not for us. Today we had no power. So, we decided to try Lei Ting again. Ordered General Tso's chicken and it arrived a BRIGHT red. Flavor mediocre and gotta wonder about the red. Spring rolls flavorless and sauce in little plastic bags, like salsa in a chain MX restaurant. Pot stickers deep fried and flavorless. Walked in with a friend Saturday night with only 4 tables full. Ordered their General Tso Chicken. Dish arrived in a timely manor, but when i took a bit into the chicken it was pure rubber and not eatable. Took about 15 minutes until the waiter returned at which point he removed the dish from the bill and took off 10% for my drinks and egg roll which was still charged for. "Excellent" is an understatement. Quite possibly the highest quality Chinese food in Michigan. If you're just trying it out, go with something typical like General Tso's to get a feel for just how good it can be (and maybe get a brief unpretentious history lesson from one of the waiters). If you're going with a group of adults, getting the Volcano is a must. Venturing out in to their "specialty" menu is definitely recommended, though, I can't say that their Thai or sushi are anything to write home about. In fact, I'd probably say the sushi isn't that great, and is pretty expensive. Stick with Chinese fare here, and go to Novi if you want good sushi. The waitstaff is consistently awesome. With the exception of having someone wipe crumbs away, I'd rank it up there with the service you'd get at Chop House in Ann Arbor. Across the board, they've all been attentive without hovering, and as chatty or invisible as you seem to want. The decor is nice enough that you'll probably be surprised when you go inside, if a touch stereotypical. A nice place to take Mom on her birthday, but not nice enough to close that big business deal. Prices for dining in are reasonable, while take-out, on the other hand, is on the expensive side. If price is a concern, or you're looking for more of an "order-by-number combo" sort of meal, you might want to check out Panda Kitchen on the other side of the river. read more

So I'll start out saying I don't get the negative reviews of this place, posting one star because you are unhappy with one dish is just mean. I can honestly say this place is nice, the inside is absolutely beautiful and the woman who runs it(or at least works in the front) is so nice! I'm a vegetarian and they have an awesome vegetarian section, I love the triple fragrance with tofu. That being said i didn't like the vegetarian orange chicken, I would recommend using a thicker sauce and making it more salty but no big deal cause when I called and told them they were super nice and let me just try something else. Sweet and sour chicken & cashew chicken are our go-to! However, sometimes the chicken is a not very plentiful and it's more veggies which makes me wanna she-hulk out. :). My Father-in-Law and I split pad Thai (was plenty to split). The fried wontons as beginning of meal were a great snack while we waited. I've been here twice before and had Human Beef & Generals Chicken. Not great but not bad, pretty much what you would expect. Generous portions, especially when ordering takeout. Met a friend today for sushi, and it was quite good, much better than I expected! Very fresh. Will for sure be coming back more often so I can try all of the different rolls. The sushi is very good as well although there is a better choice for Japanese food about 1.5 miles away. That was disappointing! I visited this place about 10 years ago and remember it being great. Today, we were greeted with attitude, had to get our own menus and ask for silverware. The food was an upset... The salad tasted old and my sushi tasted like it had old soggy seaweed. On top of that, the young kid that served us was all but happy to be there. I used to always get carry out here and I always got the same thing, a lunch entree, which on the menu online is said to come with fried rice, egg roll, and soup. Every time I ordered it I always received soup with it without paying extra. This last time I got carry out I noticed their was no soup with my meal, the hostess told me carry outs can only get soup for $1.00 extra. I read her exactly what the menu said and she still told me it would cost me extra even though the menu does NOT say that it costs extra. I asked to speak to a manager many times and the hostess's excuse was "they do not speak good English." so in the end I was never able to speak to a manager. I always loved this place, but last night both mine and my mom's meals were messed up. My mom ordered almond chicken. The sauce was so thin, and she said it didn't taste good, she gets this dish quite often. I ordered vegetarian sesame chicken. My sauce was also way too thin (consistency of water), it looked like soup. My food tasted so bad it was inedible, it tasted like they mixed the sauce with sweet and sour. We both ordered veggie fried rice, which was so soaked with soy sauce we couldn't eat it. I tried to talk to them about the issues with the food and they told me there was no one there that could help me with a quality issue and they would call me the next morning. Needless to say it's after closing the next day and no one has contacted me as promised. It's unfortunate that both meals quality was horrible, but mistakes happen and that's acceptable. After so many glowing reviews I couldn't wait to try Lei Ting. We went for lunch. Hot and sour soup was good, a bit more sour than I would prefer and not at all spicy to my palate. Sesame beef was average, nothing special. I asked if the General Tso's chicken was sweet and was assured not. It was, very. I ordered it hot and spicy but it was fairly mild. Helping was generous and it did have a fair bit of ginger giving the dish some character but it was hard to get by the cloying sweetness. Average Chinese. I didn't dare attempt the Thai of Japanese side of the menu. Tea was nice. Help is nice, attractive decor, food not oily - a big plus. read more
