Leicacamerausa.com gave me Bellevue's number, as I urgently needed a diopter to fit my M11, and it was already 5 p.m. CDT. These guys could have just blown me off, but instead, they rushed to get my request processed and ready for the UPS pickup within minutes, quite literally. I was the one who screwed up (purchasing the wrong-sized diopter), and the folks at the Leica Bellevue store had what I needed and could get it to me the next day. I am a Leica enthusiast. I enjoy the brand, but I have experienced rude, unprofessional, and seemingly discriminatory treatment from staff at the Leica Bellevue store, especially from Nathan Kellum. Given my experience, I stopped purchasing Leica for a short period, and I now generally purchase Leica equipment from authorized dealers who are not affiliated with the Leica USA corporate stores. To enjoy using Leica cameras and lenses, patronize Leica stores who welcome and enjoy working with all customers, and avoid the Leica Store Bellevue. read more

As another reviewer mentioned, it can be really intimidating to walk into a Leica store as a young amateur given the price point and brand recognition. However, throughout my entire experience, the staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and respectful. I would especially like to give thanks to Brandon, who not only helped ring me up for my new Q2, but also asked if I was interested in joining their future classes, drawings for Leica cameras, and also gave me a free key chain! I dream of owning a Leica camera one day and was surprise to see that they have a store in Bellevue Square. I was trying to play it cool when I walked by to admire the store, since it looked so intimidating. The salespeople caught me and gestured me to come in and I'm glad I did. The customer service was amazing, I like that they make you feel very welcome and don't make you feel dumb when you ask questions. They encourage customers to try their cameras so I felt giddy when I got to try a few and see first hand how they work. I'm currently looking for a camera for still life/art/scenic photography and I appreciate that the man helping me gave me wonderful tips on how to improve my photo taking skills. I love the fact that Bellevue has now a Leica store! I found the store while shopping and was able to hold and play with one of their cameras. The person that spoke to me was very friendly and even tho he knew I was not going to purchase the camera, he showed me a few features the camera has. The decoration of the store is clean and attractive. They have beautiful camera messenger bags and different colors to chose. Too expensive for me, yet they have the perfect cameras! I bought my 5 years old Leica M9 in for repair because it had CCD sensor corrosion. The staff was super friendly and provided excellent customer service. My M9 was sent to the repair center. When I got the camera back, not only did it get a brand new CCD sensor, Leica also clean, lubricate and adjust the camera, and replaced the leather cover. All for free! For a 5 years old camera, I was blew away! Yes Leica cameras are expensive but they sure take sure its customers and products. I am so happy that Leica opened a company store in Bellevue! read more

When you make the world's most beautiful cameras, you've gotta hire the best. I was blown away by the attention and care I received from the gentleman who helped me. Immediately upon walking in he pulled out an M model (worth over $6000) for me to hold and try. They don't just keep them behind the glass! He's a versatile photographer and familiar with every aspect of the field - from smartphones to SLRs to, of course, the stunning Leica series. He talked objectively with me, acknowledging the scenarios where he used each without pressuring me or pushing a certain worldview. It was more respectful than what pretty much any salesperson does, and makes me want to buy a Leica much more. The guy I talked with also appreciates the potential of photographs, and the cameras that capture them, as art. He talked about what makes Leica so different, noting the care and attention by which they craft their cameras in Germany. We talked at length about the flaws of the modern smartphone approach to photography (take a bunch of photos with no thought to composition or exposure and hope one sticks) and how Leica is different. I came in believing in the importance of artful, intentional photography, and talking with him confirmed this view. A Leica is an art piece you use to capture art. For one, he mentioned the exquisite dynamic range of their monochromatic model. It's also striking the amount of manual effort involved in composing a photo on Leica. The photographer needs to understand the fundamentals and be intentional about how they shoot. It's a craft that rewards patience over expedience; mastery over convenience. Rather than take dozens of careless shots a Leica owner should choose exactly how they want to capture a subject. Another (among many) things that's striking about Leica is the understated nature of the brand. There's a simple, bold red wordmark that stands on its own without gimmicks or flashy signs. They don't advertise widely, because they don't need to. If you want a Leica you will find them. The guy who helped me even talked about how they debranded the camera I was using. That is, they removed the Leica logo from the front. What company does that? He told me it was a response to street photographers who want to be inconspicuous and keep their camera safe, but I think there's another, more important reason: real sophistication doesn't scream out. Real sophistication is understated. Most people won't immediately recognize it. It's the few with an eye for these things who will notice and appreciate it. I thanked for his time and left, all without a sales pitch or guilt trip. He offered to chat again when I come back - and it felt genuine. The staff is super helpful, welcoming and knowledgable. I have been in the market for camera for a while and this was my second stop at the Leica store. The first one was a 3 months ago, but the sales person recognized me - a plus. She was helpful and educated me on the different camera options within my price range.
