I was running errands when I saw a billboard for Leland Smoke House. I had to map it and find it since I'm new to the area. It certainly lived up to its advertisements! Most tender brisket! Don't miss the Buffalo Chips with ranch or spicy ranch! Delicious meal at a great price!

The three ribs each measured about 4 inches long and cost $13.99.

We ordered a carry out order consisting of a pulled pork sandwich, 1/4 rack of ribs, a sausage plate and the following sides: baked beans, cole slaw, hushpuppies w/cinnamon butter and potato salad. I originally asked for a sausage sandwich (one link on a hot dog bun) but was informed they couldn't do a sausage sandwich for some unknown reason. Then, the order taker asked if I wanted the more expensive sausage plate (2 links and 2 sides) with a bun. This made no sense until I received the order and noticed it was a hamburger bun....not the advertised hot dog bun. Also, my pulled pork sandwich and side were supposed to include a drink. There was no drink included. Now, for the food itself. I received 3 very small ribs. Is that a 1/4 slab? Well, either way, those three small ribs cost me $13.99 ($4.66 each). See photos. The two sausages, pulled pork sandwich, and the two hamburger buns were wrapped in three separate foil papers which were completely coated with grease from the meat and I mean lots of grease. By the time the food was unwrapped, our hands were excessively gooey which was gross. I've never experienced food wrapping being greasy before and hope I don't again. The ribs were tender but so salty we couldn't eat them. The pulled pork was completely dry and did not have much smoke flavor. The sausages were dry and had very little flavor and had obviously been overcooked to the point where they were very dark brown. The baked beans were watery and the potato salad was also very salty. The hushpuppies were tasty, but were overcooked and the cinnamon butter was chunky with bits of butter unmixed in the cinnamon mixture. The cole slaw was mediocre, but it was the best of the sides. There were no utensils or napkins included with the order despite it being a carryout order. This meal cost me nearly $38.00. We threw about 85% of it away. It was truly just terrible and was actually some of the worst BBQ and sides that I've ever eaten and I've eaten at a lot of BBQ joints over the decades.

This was a couple of miles out of our way on the way home from Myrtle Beach, SC. Totally worth the extra couple of miles and to our surprise we could get beck on the highway nearby. The BBQ is very good, with lots of different types sauces. When you enter, you go to the counter and place your order. After ordering, you get a place card and your drink. Find a table and they bring your food out to you. We ordered a BBQ platter for @$8.00 each. It came with a drink, one side and the BBQ and sauce of our choice. We sat in front of the kitchen. We When we ordered, I noticed a very high health inspection score. This place was clean. The BBQ was very good. The sweet sauce was not too sweet with a good flavor.i had the macaroni and cheese which was above average. The potato salad looked great and according to my husband it was good.

Haven't tried the Southport location so this is my first time at the new second location. It's located next to Jimmy John's. The menu looks the same as the Southport location. Meals comes with one side and a second side for an additional dollar. Sausage is not made in-house, it's made in Shallotte. Dessert options were either banana pudding or cobbler of the day. Dog bones were also available. There are plenty of seats available, including booth seats. First place your order with the cashier, pick up your food when they call your name, and then find a table to sit down and eat. Order the two meat plate with pork ribs and brisket and a side of mac and cheese ($15.99). Both the ribs and brisket had good flavor but having just ate at Bone and Bean BBQ, the smoked flavor is not as pronounced as Bone and bean bbq. The meats were also not as tender. The ribs had a little kick to it, so may be too spicy if you're sensitive to heat. There are 7 different kinds of sauces to go with the smoked meats, listed with descriptions on a big map in front of the cashier. All the sauces were good but my favorite ones were the ones called sweet (Kansas), spicy (Texas), white (Alabama), and Lexington (Piedmont, NC). Mac and cheese was not that great, not flavorful. It was basically macaroni pasta mixed with melted cheddar cheese. Complimentary hush puppies were provided. These were the best food of the whole meal. Deep fried sweet little nuggets with pieces of corn. For dessert tried the blueberry (flavor of the day) cobbler ($2.99). It tasted just okay. The cobbler crust was not thick, it was thin and flaky.

    Dried out burnt brisket sandwich.

Zero stars - dried out burn brisket in small portion bun. Place has a cafeteria ambiance. The is fast food bbq not a $12 brisket sandwich. Go to mission bbq for good bbq at same price point. Fast food counter service, no waiters no alcohol on premises. I tried to feed it to my dog, but she hated it too!

Pulled pork had no seasoning, pork ribs were so dry and no taste. Slaw was good and okra was hot. Not somewhere we plan to go again.

I think there are places in which by the time your order hits..it feels like you're in the middle of trying to make a gallery of orgami napkins... But the Grille isn't that..it moves at a steady breeze, carrying a gallery of food that could feed a small boar. But enough about the ambiance, you're probably here for exactly two things, and I'll name fries to make the review more succinct. You know, the logo cartoon is a bit.. funny. I'm like, "there's no way I'd want to take my lower jaw to such extreme positions!" But then I bit into the burger. That was my first mistake. To eat a Grille burger here is like falling in love, only to realize that the person loves me more than I ever could her. Naturally, I dropped my engagement ring. But not the burger. Whoever flips these needs a raise. Burger King throws them into the microwave or whatever and then tries to add "char" effects, which has the taste of imitation crab being dropped in a ash-heap. But PT's. Words can't do it justice, but I'm going to try. The beef seemed fairly rotated, unlike my arm during bowling. Crisp. Sweet. Layered. Crunchy. My jaw was getting oddly closer to the surrealistic logo that I thought I was above. Naturally, I ate the fries before picking up my engagement ring. I asked her if she could be my wife...And she responded "No, I am just your food induced hallucination that comes from having the best Burger on Earth. " As the stars faded from my eyes, I realized... you can take back a vow, but you can never take back the sheer amazement of picking your jaw off the floor to keep the food from escaping the confines of the pain of love and loss. If you want to save time, order online on their website, which I would do next time, but I would question if they would be able to complete it in a timely fashion. Didn't look like they had tons of staff available, looked slow -understandably it was their first day but still. Food took about 23 minutes. There is covered outdoor seating but limited. One high chair available. Burgers don't come with fries so you'll have to order that for an additional cost. There are also sides of tater tots, sweet potato fries, cheese fries, salad, or a combo of sides. Ordered the Mookie, which comes with Wisconsin, blue marble cheese, bacon onion jam, and roasted garlic aioli and a side of sweet potato fries. Cashier asked how I wanted the burger meat cooked. There are a few different dipping sauces for the fries-I went with the Winnie sauce. Regular Fries are crinkle cut and sweet potato fries are thin cut. Sweet potato were seasoned with sugar and the Winnie sauce was a sweet creamy dip. Wish they told me the Winnie sauce was sweet, otherwise, I would have chose another sauce. At least the sweet potato fries were crispy. Burger had good flavor overall, but the bun was cold, whereas the burger meat was piping hot. I liked the chunky bacon onion jam (chopped big onion pieces) and garlic aioli. Burger meat was overcooked for my medium request.
