I was excited I see a new Asian cuisine restaurant in lower Westchester, and Lemak did not disappoint! The menu has a lot of great, authentic options. I enjoyed my Nyonya Laksa. It had a nice balance of ingredients and broth. My partner liked the Nasi Goreng, which was a good portion. The chicken satay was small for the price, but the chicken was juicy. Can't wait to order again and hopefully visit soon. read more

New (and only in the area) Malaysian place in Scarsdale village, opened 3 months ago according to our waiter. Decor is very cute, went late on a Friday evening and there was plenty of seating. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Roti canai was yummy. The Milo tea isn't really tea, it's basically what I think is maybe an Asian version of nesquik? But the price was reasonable for the serving size. Ended up with leftovers! I haven't had much Malaysian food so I don't have a comparison, but I think it's excellent that this place opened in Scarsdale village. The chicken Kari was flavorful, a bit thinner/more soup-consistency than what I traditionally think of curry (Indian, Japanese). It also came with a healthy serving of rice. The roti was also yummy, not as fluffy as other roti I've had, which isn't bad, just an observation. It could also be due to different cuisine styles rather than being restaurant specific. I'm hoping that the community will be willing to try something new for their palate that might not be like the typical Italian, American fare that you find around here--it's definitely worth it. Ordered delivery from this place; got the Nasi Goreng. While I think of this dish as Indonesian, it was absolutely delicious! The flavor was very good, and it had tender pieces of chicken too; I loved the spices. Will be ordering it again tonight! I'm also looking forward to trying the other dishes; though I will say I would like to go there rather than ordering it for delivery; as with a lot of places, I'm sure eating it fresh from the kitchen is better than having it sit waiting for the pickup. Solid new casual Malaysian spot. My wife and I enjoyed some fish soup, the mango salad and two mains. Everything was yummy with well-integrated flavors and a good spice profile. My only complaint is that they didn't have tap water. I like to drink a lot of water during dinner. Notwithstanding the unnecessary environmental impact of throwing bottle after bottle into the trash, it's also expensive at $2 a pop. The price was right $75 + gratuity for two. Ordered takeout 2 times (nasi goreng, nasi lemak, char kway teow) and each time the food has been below average especially for the cost. Nasi goreng was plain and dry. Would recommend trying the one at Grub Asian in Nyack. Recently I brought my parents, who are also Singaporean, to visit in hopes that it would taste better in person. However, they turned us away around 1:30pm, saying they aren't sure when they would open, even though they had told us over the phone that they would open around 1-1:30pm (note they claim to open at 11:30am on their website). 2 minutes later, an Indian family was warmly welcomed into the restaurant by the same Indian server. At best, this restaurant has extremely poor communication, at worst, practices racial discrimination. read more

The chicken Nasi Lemak was beyond tender and the portion was more than enough for two. The roti canai was also very good. The sambal was excellent, also very flavorful. First up, the food is fresh and top shelf. Ordered the mango salad - crisp and sweet. Chicken satays were moist and well seasoned and the dipping sauce was the right addition. Now offering Indian as well as Malaysian cuisine - so we had the Butter chicken that had a delicate but right spiced sauce. Lamb sambal was a good complimentary entree - a good level of heat . We drove 40 minutes because we saw the great reviews. We were really excited to try the Nasi Lemak and Nasi Goreng. When we went half the menu was crossed off, most of which was the Malaysian food I was excited to try. We switched our orders accordingly but then the waiter told us we couldn't have beef. Once informed, we decided to try lamb rendang and lamb Nasi Lemak. The server went to back to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later only to inform that we can have only lamb dish as they ran out of lamb. We were eager to try a Malaysian dish, so we ordered lamb Nasi Lemak. He back to the kitchen again and came back and said we couldn't have that lamb goreng. We can only have lamb Nasi Lemak. When we asked why, he explained that there is only enough lamb to make Nasi Lemak but not Rendang. Overall, we were very disappointed and left without eating there. read more

We have eaten here few times, and have enjoyed the following dishes: The Roti canai the best we have tasted.. just like my Malaysian mom makes it! The chicken curry delicious, the coconut curry sauce is thick and creamy. We also enjoyed the mee goreng mamak, and so is the beef rendang and the tofu salad. We live quite far from the restaurant, but will stop by to dine here whenever we can.... beats going into the city for Malaysian food! read more

The flavors are good, but some portions are small for the money, especially the chicken wings. See the photo showing five anemic wing pieces for the princely sum of $14. They're good enough but are barely sufficient for one person. The same goes for the Satay Beef. I've been twice with mixed feelings given that there's no restroom, and one night the staff was burning a fragrant candle that filled the small space with an artificial perfume smell. But, like I said, the food is good and a nice departure from the usual Asian fare. Lemak is an excellent choice when you have money to burn. read more

The wide choice of items on the menu was awesome as was the quality of the food. However, the tight cramped space was packed and a bit noisy, especially with people coming in and out to p/u take out. But in this age of gauging with chef appreciation fees and credit card surcharges, we were a bit put off when we asked for a glass of water and was advised they do not provide complimentary water and we would have to purchase bottled water. Tried this place twice and both times really enjoyed what I ordered. Had the chicken kari (cutty) with roti. Both were quite good. Tried the chinese rice and pad thai, which were good-but the traditional Malaysian dishes were much better. The Nyona Mee Siam (sp?) was really amazing. It's reminded me of Pad Thai with vermicelli noodles and it was awesome. Recommend this place! read more
