Yesterday, I finally got to dine inside since my friend visiting from out of town was craving sushi. Nice and dimly lit ambiance, service was great, and staff were polite. I spent $40 ordering two orders of cold sesame noodles and an order deer of scallion pancakes. The delivery driver was almost half an hour late and then when I got the food, I wanted to stop him because I thought there was a mistake with my order. I opened the bag immediately and saw that the everything was in there...the positions are just very small for the price. The cold sesame noodles looked like they were made with buckwheat noodles. The picture online didn't look like that. Also, they were on top of a layer of lettuce. The entire bottom was covered in a hefty layer of lettuce. This is definitely not what I was expecting. Similarly, there were six pieces of the scallion pancakes for $9. They didn't provide the dipping sauce and the pancake itself was very greasy. I'm very disappointed. Their menu said the pad thai is spicy and I was quite disappointed not taste anything remotely spicy in this meal. In fact, the meal while plentiful, did not have any taste to it. Ordered a variety of sushi rolls(California, tempura, shrimp, acc, eel and salmon rolls all with avocado) and a hot dish(stir fried udon noodles with pork). All sushi dishes were pretty tasty! The udon noodles did lack a little bit a flavor for me, but just added some soy sauce and hot chili oil and it was perfect! Would probably try it with beef or shrimp next time too. Able to fill up three people for dinner! When picking up the meal, they do a great job with maintaining social distancing guidelines! Another on the fly meal with hubbs. We were out running errands and ready for din when I scoped out Yelp for some local eats. Came across Sakura but the directions brought us to a residential address (oy) so I figured it just wasn't the one. I searched again and found Ku, so we changed plans and headed on over. We parked right in front and I would definitely suggest parking at one of the end spots or someplace where it's easy to exit the lot because it is quite tight and difficult to maneuver if there are a lot of cars parked at any given time. So here's where I was slightly perturbed; the hostess was on the phone taking an order, I assume, and although I understand that, she didn't look at us, acknowledge our presence or anything. That irritates me because we have no other choice but to stand in front of her area, awkwardly waiting for the next step. Luckily two other staff member came by and amicably swept us away to our table, all the while welcoming us. We sat and were immediately greeted by our server, who handed us our warm moist towelettes and proceeded to take our order. We stuck to sake and beer. I had an Ichiban and he had a hot sake. We had soup and salad and an order of edamame to start, all of which were pretty standard, except for the green salad which tasted a bit better than other places, I'm assuming because of the extra drizzle of sesame oil. I had a Spicy Salmon Skin Hand Roll with brown rice and that was very nice. As with the salad, it was slightly different than other restaurants. We decided to share the Imperial Sashimi entree which is twenty pieces of sashimi. This is really for one person but it was plenty for us, along with the edamame and hand roll. We ordered the Rib Eye Teriyaki to go for my son. They cook the meat to temp and it was a perfect medium. It tasted very good. My son liked it. The fried rice and lo mein are good choices. Sushi bar has all the usual yummies (including the Asian Pizza roll). Fabulous service and exceptionally fresh food. Came here in a Saturday evening with family, was sat immediately and had a very attentive and friendly server. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh and lovely presentation. My family has lived in the area over 30 years and we have seen every Asian restaurant come to this location.. and eventually disappoint us. My only complaint was delivery quality could be a little better (I honestly have been ordering delivery sushi since Ku opened). I've had a few issues w them forgetting some stuff or things taking too long but they ALWAYS make an effort to make it right with us (%off the bill etc.) and that's honestly great customer service. It more so tasted like regular rice, but with steamed peas, carrots and broccoli. Nothing special. I prefer when the rice is on the chewy crispy side. I also had the hot and sour chicken soup, which was nice. My fiance had wonton soup, which only had two teeny tiny wontons in it. Such a tease cause they were yummy. The broth was nice as well. My fiance got the curry beef. The beef was pretty good!!! And it also had a ton of veggies like mine, which I'm a fan of. It had some Chinese eggplant and mushrooms in it too. We both also shared a large hot sake ($8) which was good!!! I'm picky with sake so good job. For an appetizer, we shared a 2 roll lunch special. We went with spicy tuna, which we enjoyed, and the eel-avocado-cucumber roll. I've had better eel rolls. If you like wasabi, put a lot on, because theirs was not as spicy as some wasabi spreads I've tried at other Asian restaurants. Overall, it was a decent experience. Good prices and solid service. Fantastic Asian restaurant. Clean, modern and spacious. When I order delivery they are usually very quick. Food is delicious and fresh! They have an eclectic menu and offer Japanese, Sushi, Chinese and several Thai inspired dishes. I typically find Asian food (particularly Chinese) to be very greasy, but this place is not at all like that. I never feel uncomfortably full or "gross" after like i do with most other Asian places. After a busy day in chester heights i thought it was a perfect stop at Ku. Been frequenting Ku since its inception 3 years ago and it has not lost its touch. The owners constantly update the menu to keep it fresh and interesting. Tried the all the special appetizer at the special happy hour 4:30 to 7 pm over the years. this year tried the Tako Yaki, excellent additions. With the Windmill Roll entre'. Happy hour would not be complete without Grace's spectacular Lichee martinis. Arguably the best we have ever had. Grace fills them to the rim and traverses the entire dining room with two in hand without spilling a drop!!! We did not have it this time , but the crispy duck is excellent. Crispy on the outside, moist and tender inside . All the sushi here is NYC quality . Ku is a go! read more
