My mom lives close by. I took her to lunch one day and she suggested this place. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and diversity of the menu. Pan Asian cuisine (mostly Chinese, Indian and Thai). The owner was there for my first visit and she was delightful. We had a long conversation about food (my favorite subject) and she proved to be very knowledgeable and an equally good cook. The staff is also friendly and attentive. It's mostly a take out, but has a few large tables if you prefer to dine in. Very clean with a clean bathroom. All the dishes I've tried so far have been excellent. If you're looking for great Chinese takeout...this is the place to go! I've been to many takeout joints all over NYC and the Metropolitan area, but this place has become one of my favorites. My usual order consists of the sesame chicken dish which is cooked perfectly and tastes amazing, the Mongolian beef which has just the right amount of spice, the Szechuan spicy wontons that are dynamite, a couple chicken and vegetable eggrolls and the house wonton soup. The portions are very generous and the flavors are awesome! Everything is cooked perfectly without any greasy/oily taste. Last time we ordered the soup...I put in a request for no salt. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. It was just what I asked for. If you're in the Bronxville area and looking for a good quality Chinese takeout spot...give this place a shot! I had high hopes for Jade Spoon. Overall, our takeout experience was ok. I'd recommend skipping the calamari. The portion was small, and the flavoring was hard to discern. I also found the spicy wontons to be a bit too chewy; the wrapper was thick and overcame any flavor there was with the filling. The scallion ginger with duck had a great flavor but not much duck, and the hunan triple had the opposite problem - good flavor and proportions but barely spicy. If you're ordering takeout online, be sure your GPS knows which Jade Spoon location to go to! We made the mistake of going to another location. I know I'm not supposed to be too picky in Westchester when it comes to Asian restaurants, but I'll be checking out someplace different next time. read more

Taste like good, clean Chinese food. Definitely not what I'm used to from local Chinese spots in the Bx. The fried rice is true beef fried rice (similar to what you'd get at a hibachi or Japanese restaurant). I was a little surprised by the Chicken egg roll I clearly didn't read the menu. It was good but a little dry. We got sesame chicken with fried rice that came with egg rolls & orders of crab rangoons. Thats where I would take stars away, crab rangoons should have imitation or real crab, it had none of that. It was essentially just a cream cheese puff. Overall, the food tasted fresh & clean, not overally oily the crab rangoons just need to be revamped. read more

What a hidden gem. I stumbled on this restaurant/ takeout by accident and so glad i did. The restaurant is clean and organized. I ordered the General Tso with vegetable fried rice and my wife had chicken with mixed vegetables & vegetable fried rice. Both were dinner combo which we both decided to get the egg rolls. Customer service is exceptional. Restaurant is super clean and good quality food. The spare ribs are definitely the best ribs at any Chinese restaurant. The wings were good but I still prefer the wings fried. The shrimp and broccoli is delicious but the rice is plain and lacking flavor. The general tso chicken is made with white meat. Excellent Chinese food for Westchester. My family has been coming here for about a year. We've had the eggplant with shrimp, the kung pao chicken, and today I tried the Malaysian curry. We've never had a bad dish here. The food is great for Westchester, but not as good as some of the restaurants in Flushing. The kung pao chicken is unusual in that it comes in strips rather than the traditional cubed chicken pieces. We typically get the lunch specials, which are a great deal for Bronxville. The lunch specials come with rice and soup. The service is always friendly and efficient. On one occasion, we spoke to one of the owners, which was a fascinating conversation. They come from a family of successful restaurant owners in Malaysia. The decor is fine. It is more of a take-out place than a proper restaurant, but there are tables and chairs. read more

Jade Spoon Bronxville opened recently in the location that used to be Hi-Dragon on Pondfield Rd. W. It's nice to have a good Chinese place there and they should do well, as there are many apartment houses and businesses in that area. There isn't a separate website for the Bronxville location yet-- It's mentioned on the Jade Spoon-Scarsdale site. This is a little confusing, as you're not sure where the pictures are taken. Since the Bronxville location is so new, I read the reviews for the Scarsdale restaurant, which were very favorable. I ordered delivery through Seamless and found the food very good. The scallion pancakes were light and airy with a nice flavor. They come with a slightly sweet soy sauce. The wonton chicken soup was also very good. The chicken lo mein was excellent, and the BBQ ribs were delicious and just spicy enough. The only negative is that they sent Snapple lemon tea instead of the Mexican Penafiel Limon soda I ordered. Maybe they were out of it. No big deal, as they were both the same price. The large menu has many standard Chinese items like dumplings, chow mein, egg rolls, noodles, fried rice and chicken, beef and shrimp dishes. There are some Japanese and Thai dishes and some interesting salads as well. Prices are reasonable, though there is a service fee as well as a delivery fee. Jade Spoon is definitly a place I'd recommend, and I'll be back! I ordered again! I live upstate and our Chinese food options are sadly hit or miss. The food they're slinging out of the little kitchen at Jade Spoon is the stuff I dream about. The restaurant itself is very clean and the staff very warm and friendly. Food was hot and ready at the time they gave for pick-up. We ordered a whole mess of stuff to share - the Shrimp Lo Mein and BBQ Spare Ribs were definitely the stars of the show! I would order those two dishes again and again. Orange Beef was tasty although it was deep fried, which I wasn't expecting. The broccoli had more of the orange flavor than the beef itself, but the dish was still very good, and had a bit of a kick. Mongolian Beef (prepared spicy upon request) was so flavorful and there was a nice balance of fresh green vegetables mixed in. The Steamed Dumplings had a thicker dough than I prefer, and the pork was a little sweet. Next time I might try them fried instead to see what that does to the flavor/texture. We also ordered the Moo Shu Chicken - I haven't tasted it yet but it smelled delicious. All in all, a fantastic meal - next time maybe I'll order an extra vegetable (whoops!).
