**FAREWELL REVIEW**…read more After what I think may have been a couple of years, I am saddened to write that Wonder Waffel in Melbourne is officially closed since 9 p.m. on Sunday night, August 30th. It was their last "hurrah" as money went to charity, as long-time patrons enjoyed one last wonder waffel, and for me, a chance for my friends who never got to enjoy a wonder waffel to have a taste of it, too. Everything from my previous post WAS in effect until they closed plus more, but I wanted to give one last update on how wonderful Serena and Jack are, and how much their business have brought together the community and enticed my fellow Yelpers to come all the way from Orlando just to try them. Their food was always on top for what they served. You have to understand that whole foods made the way they had is always going to be in a pricier side, but what you get is good, excellent even. They soon expanded with grilled cheese waffles, ice creams, and smoothies. All were good. But what makes Wonder Waffel amazing is how much it gave back to the community, the same community that did everything to give to them. They've supported numerous charitable causes, local businesses, and was even the location of my first letterbox hide in the international scavenger hunt game, letterboxing (similar to geocaching but way older and more old school). Wonder Waffel is now closed, but the legacy that Serena and Jack left behind will always be cherished amongst those close to them, especially since many friendships were established with them. And to be fair, the fact they are a niche and their location - which I have mentioned in my initial review - is a terrible location in my honest opinion, they've endured. I can only wish them the best in their future endeavors while this sweet chapter in their lives, in our lives, comes to a close.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Firstly, I have indulged in Whit's Frozen Custard multiple times on different occassions, with the last time being at Grace Community Church in West Melbourne, FL during one of their special Sunday events. This is probably the first time - that I can remember - I ate frozen custard directly from their brick-and-mortar store located in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So was Whit's Frozen Custard, at least the locale in Historic Downtown Melbourne, a yay or a nay? Frozen custard-wise, it is a yay, but in general, it is not necessarily a nay, but more an observation that can make or break a patron's view of wanting to go to Whit's Frozen Custard (which I will shorthand simply to Whit's for the remainder of this review) or somewhere else. Even though an address is provided, Whit's is located in the East side of Historic Downtown Melbourne, in between Crush XI and Constant Pressure Tattoo Shop. I must stress that Whit's is probably not handicap accessible as the only way in and out has four steps. Inside is quite minimalistic with its overuse of the color white (which kinda fits with their name) and stainless steel, but it fits their theme. The seating is also minimalistic, but it is assumed most people will take their custard and walk with it around and about downtown. Whit's also has numerous flavors pre-packaged for sale, but their flavors they have ready-to-serve is minimal. You can choose either vanilla, chocolate, or the flavor of the day. Today when I went, the two flavors for Sunday was peach and Heath bar. I had two scoops of peach were a nice amount of frozen custard to eat for like $6. Not bad for the price they provide. Given the information above, this is either a yay or nay compared to other frozen custard places. Other places have more options, but they are not necessarily top tier across the board. Other places may be less in price, but the amount of frozen custard you get will be less than the price you pay with Whit's. Like I said, these are not criticisms, but more like personal observations that cater to one's preferences. With that in mind, I am going to give Whit's three out of five stars. They are a-okay with what they have and what they have is delicious, but depending on my mood, I will either go to them... or not. Now if they are consistent with this setup, I will definitely give them an extra star for said consistency. But right now, they are three stars meaning they are a-okay.

It was very sweet albeit with plenty of caffeine. :) The staff were very engaging. Almost to a fault. Sometimes a little space is nice. Food came out and it was very good. No condiments used. They have a pepper "salsa" on their roasted tomato that was very good. My omelette was large and very good. Very well balanced ingredients ratio. The two egg breakfast was also very large and well done. As we finished up the owner started playing guitar. Electric acoustic version. A little loud. So we let him know as did another two top. Whoa that went over like a lead ballon. If he had lost the amp it probably would have been pleasant. Pretty pricy but I do think it was a good value. Staff needs to turn it down a notch or two on "how is it" questions.

They also have a self-serve coffee bar, which allows you to customize your coffee how you'd like! I always call ahead, and the food is always ready when I go to pick it up. They are usually open until sold out, which of course is sometimes a double-edged sword if you're like me (sometimes) and don't pick up breakfast until 11 AM/12 PM, lol! You can tell the owner, Ryan, cares about what he does. He has even partnered with the business that I work for! There was one time they were slammed, and had accidentally misplaced my order. We've both worked in food service, and we weren't really upset, we know it happens! Ryan was so apologetic and not only got us our order (hot & fresh!), but he also gave us a gift card for our next visit! Their customer service has always been great! They've gotten new bakery cases, have a small area for kids while you're eating, and overall they feel like a classic small-town bakery! Love Bugs is always the bakery I recommend to people, and I've loved being able to watch them grow throughout the years!
