Bought a brand new suv in 2010 - literally 15k miles later we had to take it for service. That was the first of many services. We are so lucky we bought the extended warranty when we bought the vehicle because the transmission had to be rebuilt, we had to replace the fuel pump twice, rear camera, water pump, some stuff in the engine kept breaking - it was nuts. O'Connor and Mikhov handled my case, which settled in 10 months. During the process I had very little communication with them, almost all of it was at the end. When I did, it was never with an attorney. All of the staff I communicated with had random titles like "reimbursement specialist" and whatnot. At first I didn't really care because I felt "and was told by all three firms I consulted before retaining O'Conner and Mikhov" my case was strong and would likely settle quicker than most. To be fair, my vehicle maintenance service history was 14 pages long and the dealer basically gave up trying to fix it so baring any gross screw up in procedure how could I go wrong? During my initial contact with the firm, I asked questions about typical buy-back scenarios with my manufacturer, best case, worse case, what expenses were recoverable, all the questions you would expect. As you would assume, they were very forthcoming with information. When we got to the discussion of fees however, everything was very vague. As they are paid on contingency, and not out of my settlement I was told not to worry about these details. After some pushing, they disclosed what they deemed as reasonable and customary for the typical case that settles in 8 months. Once my case was finally being discussed with the counsel for the manufacturer they offered a quick settlement. It was fair but not very aggressive. Their fees on the other hand were considerably more that previously discussed. When I told them I wanted to counter back an additional 5K their story changed. These are not recoverable items, there is no more money on the table were the responses I got. One person even told me we had to tread lightly with this so we don't stress the relationship between the firm and manufacture's legal counsel. Ultimately, I took the offer but only after the firm kicked in out of their fees to sweeten the deal. In conclusion, the staff was easy to reach but not really qualified to answer questions of any substance so I struggle finding value in that. They want to put in as little man-hours as possible with billable professionals to maximize the profit from their fees. I get this, just wish they didn't make it so glaringly obvious along the way. I didn't walk away with the feeling that they fought for me, or that they were honest in many of their responses. They get two stars for not being incompetent but should I ever purchase another lemon I would not go back and that speaks volumes. read more

My wife and I had such a positive, effective experience working alongside Knight Law Group (previously O'Connor and Mikhov). Bought a 2012 Subaru Outback in Dec 2011. Nice car but one of 5, so it didn't get driven that much. After the warranty expired, we started having trouble with the transmission slipping going into 3rd gear. (38K miles on the car) Brought it to the dealer and was told it was toast. "never saw one fail at such low milage" was the response from the service rep. Contacted Subaru's customer relations dept and was told that even though it was out of warranty, they would cover it. NICE! Brought the car in and was given a loaner. Weeks went by and still didn't have the car back. Dealer was having trouble pairing the transmission to the ECU. Weeks turned into months. Finally, after 93 days we received the car back. Parts of the center console were missing. "tech lost the parts". Nice way to return a car after 3 months. During this debacle, I received a letter from the Knight Law Group regarding possible class action lawsuits related to transmission slipping.. Told them my tale of woe and was told I may be able to return the car under the Ca. Lemmon Law. Alessia Valentone was my contact and guided me through the return process. She said that her law group didn't need to get involved unless they denied my claim. Subaru stepped up and is taking the car back. Refunding all but $9400 of the $37,000 purchase price. Aly offered to take a look at the agreement, to make sure they weren't giving me a screwing, and did it free of charge. This dispelled all my notions of Law Firms. This company is terrible. I had a lemon law offer from Ford and bought into their "we're going to get you what's right" nonsense. They said they needed 90 days to prepare my lawsuit (6.7l Ford). I already had a legitimate offer from Ford to buy my truck back as a lemon law. Before the 90 days were up they called and tried to get me to sue ford for the 150 I traded in to buy my 6.7. I told them I wanted to see what happened with this one first. If ford gave me a fair offer, I would leave it alone (I'm an honest guy and believe in what's right is right and what's said is fair). I get a call after 90 days to be told all 6.7 lawsuits are on hold because they want to see what happens with the other attorneys in the emissions class action lawsuit. I told them i wanted to proceed as previously discussed with a lemon law lawsuit and not a class action lawsuit another law firm is working on. Seth tells me they've done absolutely nothing for 90 days (no phone call to tell me they e decided to do this) and tells me they want to get more money out of Ford. Of course they do...the longer they can string it along the more money they can billFord for hours worked (in this case they just wanted another law firm to do their work for them and benefit from their work). Bottom line..all they care about is billing for as many hours as possible and not representing you...They're no longer representing me. read more

I have been receiving letters and post cards from various Lemon law attorneys regarding a vehicle that I own. I contacted a firm in the San Diego area, forwarded them all my repair bills and they quickly told me I have a good case. They immediately sent me a retainer agreement to sign. I had a few questions and had a hard time getting them to call me back. I decided to contact the Knight Law Group. I again sent the same information within 24 hours they called me back and said they felt I had a good case. The next day one of their reps called me and stated I should try to get the manufacturer to settle directly with me. They told me to contact them again if the manufacturer would not settle with me. Being an owner of a 2011 Ford Fiesta, I wasn't happy with all the recalls but then the big problems with the transmission and auto clutch started and we literally coasted into the dealership as the car was just about dead when my husband came to pick me up at the hospital following surgery! I wasn't feeling well and couldn't believe it decided to happen then! Once this problem started, it never ended!!!
