    Chicken Satay Friend Rice!
    Juhi J.

Visiting Portland and had to get in some Thai food tonight! Stopped by cartopia and was delighted to be greeted by John who was super friendly and gave some recommendations. I had the satay chicken fried rice and it was amazing. Just right on point with flavors, and fresh veggies. Chicken satay was flavorful too. I think the peanut sauce could be thicker, but that's just personal preference. Neat cart with a constant line, and absolutely stellar food, check them out!! Very well decorated and located, easy to find!

Really tastey food and big portion for the price. I had the Street Pad Thai with tofu (which was vegetarian) but I loved that they had a vegan version too with soy curls and no egg - I'll have to try that next time. Service was fast and friendly and the seating area was cute. Even on a rainy day, there was plenty of covered seating - there was a ton of benches in a heated tent and some outside seating with a little roof and fire pit. Can't wait to come back.

This was one of the better looking carts at Cartopia and we wanted to try as many different carts as possible, so we chose BKK Pad Thai and ordered the chicken satay pad Thai. To be honest it was good but not amazing or anything. They were very accommodating to my nut allergy by not including peanuts per our request, which I appreciated. The flavor was good but again, didn't quite blow me away.

A delectable pad Thai, they were out of bean sprouts so compensated it with steamed broccoli that tasted equally good on the warm sweet nutty pad-Thai. We barely made it under at the closing time. However, they were generous to take our order. I would give them 11/10 for their service and food. Casual ambience and good food. The place definitely deserves a return and would recommend them to everyone.

Super cute food truck! Menu has selection of fried rices and pad Thai as well as a few appetizers. Reasonably priced, portions are very generous. Would definitely come back!

For a place with "pad thai" in it's name, the pad thai wasn't actually very good. The noodles were underwhelming. They weren't those flat noodles, they were skinny and round. Kinda slippery. Not firm, and too thin to have any bite to them anyway. I didn't get much flavor from the sauce either. I also didn't like the tofu. I appreciated it's inclusion, but it was the soft tofu. My understanding is that that yellow extra-extra firm tofu is traditional, but this wasn't even the normal American (extra) firm. I also would have appreciated roasted peanuts for some crunch. The pad thai had carrots and cabbage. I don't love either in pad thai. It's not that it affected the dish too much though, it's more that I see it as a red flag. It reminds me of when this other place only had lemon, not lime. It's not actually that big a deal, but it's a red flag. Or in this case, an orange and purple flag. The chicken satay was pretty good though. The chicken was juicy and cooked nicely. And the peanut sauce was really nice. PS: A pet peeve of mine is how the pad thai was served on top of tin foil. I guess maybe that does a better job of keeping the food warm, but I always feel nervous that I'm gonna break off a piece of tin foil with my fork and eat it by accident. And I feel like I'm probably not alone here.

Would recommend. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The spot where the food cart is located is really cute and cozy

Delicious pad Thai! Probably one of the best I've had. The wait is a bit long but you won't regret it!

I'm kind of done with subtlety when it comes to naming places. Just tell me what you have that's good and I'll get it. I love pad Thai. My favorite was this place by PSU which apparently crumbled due to unsavory business practices but I determined it would never meet its match. The noodles were thin not thick. One if my other favorite places in Milwaukie does a thick noodle, but thin? More surface area. Kind of genius. The pad Thai was tasty. I like mine sweet. I guess it was sweet enough but not like my old favorite. Since it wasn't craveable I had my heart set on four stars. Then I tried the chicken skewer with the sauce. Yum. Mega yum. I would get this again just for the skewer and the sauce. I even had thoughts about the sauce that night. It's settled. Five stars

We came to this food cart pod based on the recommendation of a friend who works at Saint Burrito. She said BKK had great vegan options, highly recommended the Curry Puffs and said they were great people. Well all those things were accurate. I'm not a fan of Pad Thai. Ever. I don't like the heavy peanut butter flavor. It's slathered and sticky and not for me. But BKK doesn't have that kind of Pad Thai. Theirs is sticky and full of fresh vegetables, crunch and topped with peanuts. But the flavor to me is great. I have never liked a single Pad Thai I've had but this is balanced. Has a delicate peanut flavor not a punch in the palate. The spring rolls they have are excellent. Fresh and full of flavor. Fried but not greasy. That's the important part to me. Fried to be crispy not full of oil. So it wasn't heavy. But the Curry Puffs. Y'all. Oh. They are a DO NOT MISS. So packed with flavor. It reminded me of an empanada but with curry. And again, fried, but not heavy and not greasy. My son, who just turned 6, loves Thai food. He chose BKK for his birthday lunch. So we went for our second visit. The only new thing, which was literally devoured so quickly I couldn't take a picture, was Taro Puff. Y'all. I. Can't. Even. It was like a dessert. Crispy, crunchy, flaky and sweet. Perfect. So good. Please please BKK keep that on the menu!! All in all we love it and we will absolutely be back!

Was in the area after a comedy show and needed something to eat. Our group wanted something more than what was offered at the next place we went to... Luckily Cartlandia was just a block away. I haven't been here in year's. I'm glad some of my favorites are still here. I saw BKK as we walked by the 1st time. I wasn't walking by a second time without buying something. First choice on the menu, my favorite, Street Pad Thai with Tofu. At $11.00. Um. Must have now. I paid electronically. I was handed a pager and a few minutes later, I was holding my dreams. The wait for everyone in our group to get their food and then walk back to the pirate hangout we went to was brutal. After some rearranging of tables and drinks ordered, I began to maul my yummy Pad Thai. I barely looked up from bite 1 to the last bite. I now need to ask my Thai place near me, why their Pad Thai is $5.00 more? Same kind of Togo container. Well for one. BKK is unfortunately a bit of a drive from my house but I know for a fact, that each time I'm in the area, I'm getting Street Pad Thai from BKK. Maybe after a dozen or so visits, I'll try the second thing on the menu. The Tofu Pad Thai here at BKK is amazing. Im jealous of the people who live near here. They can just come here whenever they like and get anything they want from Cartlandia.

"The best pad thai i've ever had" -my boyfriend he will not stop asking me to go back to this place, but honestly we haven't had the time. The food cart pod was super cute overall, a lot of tables and shade and not super busy. We'll DEFINITELY have to return.

Street Pad Thai: The noodles were a little too undercooked, causing it to be chewy. Their Pad Thai was on the sweeter side and not super umami. They did have a good amount of toppings though - I got a topping with every bite. However, the raw carrots and cabbage were unconventional, which I found a little strange.

A little bit whitewashed but enjoyable add the damn fish sauce! We want full flavor and people who don't have no taste. Don't water it down.

Starter: Field Green Salad: Sooooo delicious, a perfect summer salad, the apple, pickled shallots, coconut, and tamarind made for a beautiful marriage of flavor. Sweet and a bit sour, bright and light. White curry: 1000000/10. Absolutely perfect. Brisket Fried rice: 8/10. Great smoky flavor, rice a bit too crunchy for my liking but the smokiness reminded me of Nigerian rice so I liked it a lot! Service: Taylor was our server and she was just the cutest and most delightful person. Really made us feel seen and heard and treated us like we were family and gave us great recs for things to do. Drink: Approved By Chef-Very good and refreshing. ALSO THE MUSIC WAS INCREDIBLE! Such a good vibe. The hype is worth it. It was the perfect dinner to a perfect day in a beautiful city!

The Smoked Pork Belly Krapao was definitely on the Thai‑spicy side, with a real kick, but still very flavorful and enjoyable. The wait time is usually around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on when you go. We went during dinner, so the wait was on the longer side. Our server was wonderful -- she checked in on us often and made sure we were taken care of. I didn't enjoy my initial cocktail, the Life of Luxury, because it tasted too herbal for my liking. She immediately offered to switch it out, and that small gesture really improved my overall experience.

5 star food with excellent service - very welcoming and knows how to upsell lol…read more Food Orderd: 1. Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.

I'll start by saying this place is definitely not big so come with the expectation that you might have to wait for a table. There's only about 8-10 tables in the place and it's definitely geared towards smaller groups. Regardless we ordered at the front and then were able to find a seat. Wound up ordering the combo to try and get a taste of everything. The portions were solid and everything was super tasty. The chicken is perfectly breaded and delicious. It's a bit of a messy meal so just come with that in mind. Have a bunch of different options that also looked tasty. Will have to come back and try again. Service was fine. They were kind and cleared the table. Water is self serve at front of the restaurant and they clearly do a fair amount of takeout. Cool local spot to definitely check out.
