Spam Musubi (1 per order)
Haley H.

More affordable than Poke Loa, Lemonshark hits the spot for quick poke in the city. Last time I went they seem to be training new staff, so be patient:) The fish is fresh and toppings as well. I would skip the spam musabi, however. It was good but really skimps on the spam. I also dig Lemonshark's location since you can eat in the courtyard.

Spam Musubi (1 per order)

The fish had a funny taste, spam musubi had no flavor, and the toppings were not fresh. The sushi rice was also hard. I know I can't have high standards when it comes to poke on the mainland but this was not it. Positives: tamago was Japanese style and sweet and the oat milk matcha was good

Spam Musubi... That's spam, m'am

I ordered on line (2nd time). Showed up on time, fresh and delicious. My delivery guy was friendly and polite. The bowls are packaged so well. Too well almost. For instance, I ordered a Engine 1 Bowl Spicy tuna, surimi (krab) salad, cucumber salad, serrano chili, mango, edamame, seaweed salad, crispy garlic, spicy ponzu and wasabi mayo. It's a great tasting bowl. Everything goes so well. My only distraction is the seaweed salad is hard to distribute evenly when you mix all the ingredients. I don't know why it's only this one thing! It's kind of clumpy and doesn't separate easily. But I digress. Maybe it's just me. It's really good. Order it! I also tried a Spam Musubi ... Sliced, grilled Spam on top of a block of rice wrapped with nori, and topped with a teriyaki glaze. The spam is different (for me) but great flavor and I really like it. Thanks, folks!!

Ahi Tuna Wonton Tacos

I've had my fair share of Poké. You can never get tired of Poké because there is so many choices to choose from that each time you make a bowl or a Pokerrito, you can do different toppings/ combination and sauce each time to get different flavors and never get bored. I had the Ahi Tuna taco for appetizers which they only have available on Wednesday. The taco was served with a bed of spring mix and a splash of spicy mayo. The wonton shell was light and so delish! I can snack on those taco shell all day. My bowl came out so pretty and delish! For base, I had a choice of sushi rice, brown rice, soba noodle, local green or forbidden rice which is black rice. For Poké, I had the choice of Ahi tuna, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, salmon, scallop, shrimp, octopus, squid salad, albacore, tofu, chicken For toppings, I had the choice of red cabbage, edamame, sweet egg, red/green onion, carrot, corn, water chestnuts, radish, Serrano chilli, cucumber, ginger, tomato, pineapple and mango For Umami toppings, I had the choice of avocado, surimi salad, seaweed salad or masago For sauce, I had the choice of Lemonshark, ponzu, eel sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, sesame oil, tropical habanero For crunch, I had a choice of crispy onion, crispy garlic or macadamia nut My creation bowl has sushi rice, squid salad, corn, carrot, red cabbage, onion, radish, Serrano chilli, ginger, tomato, masago, crispy garlic, crispy onion and for sauce I got the ponzu and sesame oil. Next time I'm back, I would omit the tomato and try the tropical habanero for sauce and tryout their forbidden rice. For dessert, I had a green tea mochi ice cream ball and their eat fit king cake mini. To wash down our meal, we got the Big Easy Bucha Kombucha. The drinks are packed with probiotics and antioxidants, kombucha is a sparkling probiotics tea.

A thing of beauty

I love Poke. I love LemonShark. I always get the forbidden rice (it's a black rice with a different texture) and lettuce mixed as a base. I will say the chunks of Ahi that I got were too large and thus forced me to eat some sinewy bits, but the salmon sauce is delicious. I go for alllll the additional toppings as well as wakame salad and spicy ponzu and their new habanero sauce. I was delighted to say the bowl had a kick to it! It's reasonably priced, it's healthy, and gosh darn it, it's beautiful. Also, the lemon cucumber water is free, and they have a new mochi ice cream bar. Even more to love! Tl;dr: Gotta eat more LemonShark poke.

I gave Lemon Shark Poke a try today and I'm so glad I did. I walked into this bright, cheery space and was greeted right away by both employees behind the counter. They explained the process and pricing, and as I made my choices I was offered tastes of any sauces I wasn't familiar with. I went with a 3 protein bowl and had the tuna, octopus, and snow crab salad. I was pleased to find all if my protein choices fresh and delicious. Same deal with my add ins. The prices are reasonable, they're on beautiful, hip, Magazine St., and my meal was delicious! I'll definitely be back.

California roll with tofu.

First time trying poke and I'm officially a convert. So fresh and umami with great texture, and somehow quite filling as well--and I ordered the small! I got the California roll bowl with tofu, and the flavors really popped, each playing well off the others. That cucumber salad and pickled ginger!! The spicy mayo!! The crunch!! Love the crispy onions. They didn't let the tofu go naked either; it got its very own drizzle of miso glaze. You get to pick your base and I chose sushi rice and greens, and don't regret that. I'd been craving both sushi and salad so this really hit the spot. Prices are decent, at least compared to Poke Loa down the street. Came to just under $11 after tax. Well, done LemonShark. I will return.

Regular bowl with three proteins

New poke spot on Magazine St. Apparently it's a franchise, according to the website. Extremely bright and clean establishment, as it should be since it's fairly new. Typical set up, where you pick your type of bowl (premade or customized), pick your toppings and sauces. They do have pokeritto as an option too. The proteins and toppings didn't look too fresh or appealing in the display case. I was cringing at the thought of having to choose what I really wanted but still wanted to give them a try. There's many different sauces to choose from, which was a plus but they drizzle it on top, not toss/mix it with the proteins. I had the tropical habanero and spicy ponzu, which was good if you like it spicy. Overall, not bad but what I would like to see is for them to drain the liquid out from the proteins before putting it on top of my base. I'll give it a few more weeks before coming back to try again.

Generous portion for the price! Sauce was tasty and fish was fresh. For sure coming back for a bowl during lunch again.

Loved the space here. Very modern and bright. The fish and ingredients were fresh and full. The "forbidden" (black) rice was delicious and seasoned well. I would come here again if I was craving a fresh, lighter lunch. Tip: Check in and use the 10% off check in offer. They offer the Bayou Bucha kombucha (local). I loved the berry one. I really like it. Also they serve it on tap too. Coffee mochi was really good.

So delicious and amazing! The lady at the counter was generous with samples and very helpful. I can't wait to go back and get another bowl! The Tofu and the crunchy garlic and onion toppings were my favorite. Sitting outside in the court yard was nice as well.

This was actually the best Poke I've had in my life. I've been hooked on Poke Loa, the popular (and tasty) chain here in New Orleans for years. I'd never had the chance to try LemonShark until today. It was one of the best food decisions I've made in awhile. The Spicy Maui Heat bowl was remarkably fresh, filling and overall perfect. Great menu. Fresh items. Cool atmosphere. 11/10.

I have a new addiction to poke bowls...this place on Magazine St is soo great + much more affordable than some other places I've been

Japanese Omakase experience and style, a one of a kind food experience where every course is a harmonious blend of flavors, textures and eye appeal. The sushi chef talks you through each course after he places it on you platter. I asked if these were supposed to be eaten by hand if you wanted to, he agreed most people traditionally eat these that way. The flavors were buttery and tangy, textures delicate and sometimes a small crunch with fried scallions etc. We had tuna, ocean trout that was Similar to salmon but a different shade of orange, scallops and finished with waygu beef. It was amazing with each course the flavors seem to improve. A great experience, if you are any type of sushi fan or even on the fence, this could easily make you a sushi lover. I give this a complete recommendation. Try Kenji you will be very happy you did. The ambiance was fun also traditional Japanese. I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I agree with the current ratings of 4.7 this place has (as of Feb 2,…read more2025.) To me, based on our experience tonight, it's none other than a super over-hyped sushi restaurant that only has a high end feel to it. Service: was decent. We arrived at the place 11 minutes before our reservation time of 5pm. Since my daughter works in the restaurant industry, as a politeness, we didn't go inside until 4:59pm even though one of the workers came to the door and unlocked it at 4:51pm. Once inside he knew we were the 5pm reservation. He was polite but somehow his whole demeanor lacked friendliness. Menu: Even though the drink menu was an actual physical one, the food menu is online. How strange. After scanning the QR code, we were hoping to see a good selection of food items. But to our surprise, the food menu is/was very small. Actually this place's main thing is nothing but "omakase" where if you choose to order from the a la cart section, the choices are so limited (we were here in town from Denver, CO. After eating some deep-fried stuff for the last few days, we felt that we were truly healthy food or salad depleted; just to clarify, we didn't show up to to this restaurant just to eat salad because after all, this is a sushi restaurant. We love sushi. And yet we were hoping for some decently sized salad. Unfortunately none is/was found on the menu. I even personally asked the guy to see if the sushi chef could whip up something but he gave me a nonchalant no.) We still believed this place could do some magical things so we ordered a bowl of miso soup, oyster tarter (lobster tarter replacement), tuna, salmon and yellowtail nigiris. Miso soup, for the price of $10, was extremely small. Also the entire soup was lukewarm to a point where the center of the small tofu pieces was still cold. Ugh... All the nirigis tasted fresh but I didn't care for the sweet sauce (mainly used for unagi/eel) on the salmon nigiri. Why?? I've never had a salmon nigiri prepared this way.) The only item that was impressive was the oyster tarter (not on the menu as this was the replacement item for the lobster tarter.) This was excellent where we could have easily ordered another one but at this point, we didn't want to spend anymore $$ as all items on the menu are not cheap here. We are a fan of yuzu. The only dessert item (once again, there is only one dessert on the menu) is yuzu tart or something like that. One of the sushi chefs informed us though that the online menu hadn't been quite updated for this so he said it would be a yuzu sponge cake type thing. We decided to give it a try. This, however, failed to impress us either as it was a very much average sponge cake, nothing more at all. We didn't order any drinks besides the water so the final bill was about $75 with some change. Well, tonight's overall experience of ours didn't justify this amount in any way possible. There was another sushi restaurant that had the similar ratings with similar location (when we searched it yesterday.) Maybe we should have chosen that one instead. Disappointed....

My spouse and I made a reservation and came in a on Sunday night. The restaurant is setup with a…read morelarge sushi bar. The main chef was not present, but the staff was terrific. We started with cocktails which had fun twists in flavor. We ordered the Omakase and upgrade one fish dish to the Wagu beef ($50). I dug in, forgetting to take a photo. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasty, including some unique ingredients like ginger imported from Japan. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough. If the chef is reading reviews... switch the miso soup with a mini-ramen to give the meal more substance.

We got the bread to start and OMG that bread was delicious! It was buttery, with a honey flavor and 2 spreads to use. I wanted to eat it all but knew I had to eat an actual dish lol. My husband and I shared a small plate-the wagyu tacos. Lets just say I woke up thinking about those tacos I ordered a medium prime rib eye & my husband ordered a medium rare filet. His filet was perfect but my ribeye was overcooked. They made me a new one with no problem & were very apologetic. The new steak was more medium rare than medium but I still ate it and it was good but fatty. We shared the seafood mac & cheese which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. It was a huge portion so we ended up taking some home (didnt last very long after getting home). Lastly, we ordered the praline crème brûlée....another thing I woke up thinking about Im already thinking about the next time! 10 out of 10!
