Great new sushi spot! Sophisticated decor and you can watch the sushi chefs make your dishes at the bar. The spicy scallop hand roll was great, as was the tuna-avocado roll. The classic rolls are better priced than the hand rolls are. I would recommend splurging on the lightly grilled fatty tuna pieces. We got some hot tea but it was just a tea bag in a single mug rather than an authentic pot of tea. They're still working out some kinks as a new restaurant (there were some bill/service mix ups) but all in all, a good affordable sushi place! read more

Oh, how I LOVE Bisutoro!! We got an urge for sushi on Sunday and decided to visit a place that never disappoints... Bisutoro on Magazine. It's a very intimate place with seating on the inside as well as on the patio. Reservations are highly recommended, but they are very good about making things happen to get you in especially if you're a smaller party. We got there at 7:30 and they sat us at the bar, which is the best way to go in my opinion, and just said that there was a bar reservation for 8:30. We had an hour to enjoy our dining experience. An hour was more than enough time to have such an excellent experience sitting at the sushi bar. They have $5 Temaki (hand rolls), and we ordered one yellowtail and one spicy scallop. We also ordered some specials - tuna on crispy rice and softshell crab roll topped with spicy tuna. Everything was a 10 out of 10! I held onto the menu because I knew I wanted to order more but every bite we had was so good that I just ordered the same order again. The sushi chef, was absolutely amazing. He's so attentive and takes your order with ease and presents it so wonderfully. This is indeed the best quality sushi in New Orleans, hands-down. We arrived at the same time as a huge (14 person) table so service seemed a bit slower than usually but they were incredibly kind and apologetic (and honestly not terribly slow) which was all you could ask for! Server was very nice. And the outdoor seating was perfect on a fall night! We got the hamachi to start-- the jalapeño added a nice kick. Then, we got the satsuma roll and hand rolls. The fish was super fresh and the combination of flavors were amazing. The best sashimi was the artic char, if you don't like salmon you might still like this. The spicy tuna crispy was cooked to perfection. The toro hand roll was great but the caviar add on is unnecessary. The rolls were amazing but the Muay Thai flavors, although may seem odd, worked perfectly together. The nigiri was great but the scallop was better without the lemon so you can really taste the quality of the fish. We also had some miso udon and green tea to start with. On the downside, they are growing quickly so the demand has been higher than the supply can keep up with. Quite a few things were not available on the menu and the service was slow paced. The restaurant is decorated very chic and modern, but it is small so be sure to make reservations in advance. They have no website or phone number, though, so it is hard to contact if you have any questions or need to make last minute reservations changes. i work down the block from this place, and have been wanting to try it! so i decided to stop by after work for the sake social, because why not. i just wanted to grab a quick dinner before i headed home. i just got handrolls, because again, it was just me and i didn't want anything heavy. they were okay. there wasn't anything spectacular about the quality of the fish or anything. the seaweed was also a little soggy when i got it, which i'm assuming because it was sitting before being brought out to me. overall a forgettable experience. service was okay. it seems very hectic in there, and i wish they had a host stand or something because i was standing around looking lost before a waitress came up to me to help me out. one other gripe i have is that they charged me $10 for water! i was asked by the waitress "still or sparkling?" and when i said "still" i was under the assumption of getting regular water. nothing was said about the aqua pana being $10. perhaps don't make the assumption when someone says still they want to be charged $10? i paid for it because i drank whatever water was given to me, but it was surprising when my bill was double what i was expecting. read more

Very ok spot. We hit up Bisutoro with another couple and were seated in a back room. Service was solid. Cannot complain about the ambiance or workers. Food was just pretty good. We had a few things that were solid but most of what we had felt like very pedestrian sushi which was priced with a premium. We asked the waitress to just feed us. The chef set the menu and just brought out a whole lot of dishes. The volume of food was appropriate but I cannot really remember exactly what we had. In the end, the place was decent but we will likely not go back. On the upside, it's within walking distance from Parish Parlor, which is my new favorite ice cream spot in town. Excellent. read more
