I had been in the store several times and really enjoyed the variety of jewelry. I finally decided to go back and buy myself a nice birthday present. I spent quite a bit of money and the owner and I talked about my upcoming birthday (in 3 weeks). The week of my birthday, I received an e-mail stating that the entire store was 25% off. I would have saved several hundred dollars. I was confused and angry- why didn't the owner mention the upcoming sale? I would have waited, happily saved money and then would have been a repeat customer. When I asked, the reason I was given is that they are a small store and do things on a whim. Now, I am no dummy. I know they know how much their inventory is costing them to hold, I know they know when their accounts receivable are due. You don't just have a 25% off the entire store "on a whim" with that much inventory in a small store- you have to assess what the sale will do to all of those costs and how it will affect your monthly sales. The same thing happened to a friend. She purchased quite a large amount of one type of gemstone. A few weeks later she also received an e-mail stating that the particular gemstone she just purchased was on sale. She marched back in and demanded her money back (and got it). I guess I didn't care enough about a business with such shoddy ethics (and supposedly it's a store based on religion! Doesn't sound like the qualities in any religion I know). I'll happily spend my money at the other high quality jewelers in Pensacola and Destin or shop online. I guess if you only shop during their sales you would be okay. I just couldn't believe the gall to do that to a customer and then expect them to return to buy more. Not me.

They have a deal where they will price check if you find a cheaper book from external sources, so when I told them that chegg.com had it for 10 bucks cheaper- the person currently checking my books sent me over to, I assume their manager a couple feet away to check me out and loudly/obnoxiously made rude comments about me being 'cheap' . Uh if you had a policy, I expect you to honor it- I don't care if it's 50 cents difference. Overall it was just a bad experience. When you're spending so much money on something, you want to feel comfortable doing it, and I felt the exact opposite. When I asked them the individual price of each book (the grand total was over 300) they seemed annoyed by the question. Horrible service. Save your time and energy by using chegg/amazon/etc.

This morning I asked about a specific book and was told they receive thousands of books and had no way of knowing if they had that specific title. No offer to help look for that book either. If you enjoy books, you can find nearly any genre here at the Book Exchange, with lots of books by the same authors like Stephen King, James Michener, J.D. Robb, Dan Brown, etc. I even found one of the two books that I have not read by Harold Robbins, I was thrilled. It's a large used book store but it is pretty unorganized with some of the aisles just lined with stacks of books but I felt right at home :-) But fear not, the very friendly lady that runs it knows where all of the books are, or it seemed ilkoke it, and she is happy to be your guide for your personal reading preferences, I like that! Hey, they have a pretty healthtly collection of vinyl records (LP's) and you can spend some time looking for that Rolling Stones or ELO record and take a walk down memory lane.
