Food was amazing. Lots of flavor in every bite! And big portions. But definitely on the pricy side IMO. Around 20$ a plate. But worth it. Service was fine. Little bit of a language barrier with the waitress, but that's how you know the food is about to be authentic. The restaurant is a small one in a strip mall, it's clean and up to date, better than what you would expect.

If you are BLACK stay BACK!!!! Two women looked at me so harshly when I walked in, felt like Diablo was gonna come out of their eyes. I should have left right out but mis nietos love chicken fingers. Tiretas de pollo. Food had no smell. Looked fine. Tasted like dish soap. They did something to the food. Didn't even look at me when I picked food up. I've met the owner. Would not have happened if he was in. Attached is a pic of 15.00 that's going in trash. I hope the owner finds out how his employees are behaving. Mi Amiga es Latina and ordered food for me, was great. This is why I'm certain these girls are wicked and muy Mal

I know that this restaurant gets a lot of bad reviews for their location and staff, but the food is EXCELLENT. Point to anything on the menu and you WILL be satisfied. I love that they serve you a huge quantity while charging very little. Lempira offers Central American plates from Mexican food to Salvadorian food. On this particular visit, I had the chicken flautas. Oh my goodness... They were AMAZING! The flautas were served with salad, sour cream, salsa, and avocado and were drenched in pink sauce. I do think they had a little too much sauce but I was fine with it. The location was not the prettiest but I will definitely overlook that with their amazing food.

We waited for a while, but no one came over or explained where we should sit. Eventually, I went to the register and told the waitress that it was our first time there and asked if we could sit anywhere or if there was a specific process we needed to follow. She acted as though she did not speak English, which made the interaction uncomfortable. However, when I went to pay our bill later, she spoke English very clearly. Throughout our entire visit, she never introduced herself, checked on us, or offered us drink refills. What was especially disappointing was feeling as though we were being treated differently because of our appearance. I am from Brazil, and I know that if someone visits a Brazilian restaurant or business, we would make an effort to welcome and assist them regardless of their background or the language they speak. I can speak some Spanish and understand it when spoken, but I should not be expected to speak Spanish simply because I may look Hispanic. The one positive interaction we had was with the gentleman who brought our food. He was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, we felt invisible for most of our visit. The food was excellent, and we would recommend it based on the food alone, but the customer service definitely needs to be addressed. Every customer deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and treated equally, regardless of their appearance or language.

The restaurant has both takeout and dine in options. There is plenty of seating both in the front and rear of the restaurant. They have all your typical Salvadorean staples like the famous Pupusas as well as yuca con chicharrón. The typical breakfast dishes are also great. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes. However I suggest you dine in and have some fresh made pupusas revueltas. They are basically tortillas stuffed with Mozzarella cheese and grounded pork. You can also get them with just cheese or just pork. For a cold drink try the Horchata, it's made from a grounded down seed. For a hot drink try the Atol de Elote, made from corn.....deliciously smooth and velvety. The bakery has typical cookies and sweet breads, they are all on display for you to pick and choose. The store has candies, chips, medicine, arts and crafts & shirts all imported from El Salvador. If your missing home this place will take you back. If you want the Salvadorean experience than you have come to the right place! The staff is friendly and efficient, place is casual and laid back. Food is cooked fresh so you may wait a little, be patient. If in Charlotte stop by and get a little taste of my country you most definitely will not be disappointed!
