Please be prepared for a very slow pickup experience. As a DoorDash driver, I arrived to collect two orders--one for "V" and one for "E." The food was still on the counter, loosely arranged on a table, and none of the items had been bagged. After waiting about ten minutes, the staff finally handed me an order labeled "E," which I photographed and marked as picked up in the app. Ten minutes later, the bag I thought was for "V" turned out to be the same "E" order, so I had to submit a photo‑dispute to avoid being penalized. The staff failed to separate the orders into individual bags, leaving me with five unmarked bags and no way to tell which food belonged to which customer without checking each receipt. With only two employees on duty, the line moved painfully slowly, likely holding up several other dashers behind me. As a driver whose performance is timed and rated, this disorganized service was extremely frustrating and reflected very poorly on the restaurant's customer service. Do better please. read more

Def a hole on the wall spot. Really cool vibes throughout,- lots of colors and decoration. Food was OK, and service was spot on. Parking lot is always a bonus. Some of the food was a little dry. Prices weren't too bad. The food portion size was great which made up for the quality if you're in the mood for good vibes and atmosphere this is your place, if you're in the mood for top notch food, maybe look somewhere else because there's a ton of these spots within a 5 mile radius. read more

Short and sweet, the place is clean, the service is good, the food is good (not great) but the portions are big so there's that. However, the price was expensive for lunch. If they have lunch hours, they need to have a lunch menu with lunch size portions. Party of 3, we each ordered a dish, quickly realized we had enough food to feed a party of 6. Sure we had leftovers but lunch was almost $100. No one can afford to spend this much on lunch regularly. Plus the 18% gratuity on a lunch order for a party of 3 was excessive. You'll notice the guest count says 4 but there are only three entrees, and there were only 3 people. Maybe that's how they sneak in that 18%? Seems sus. I might go back, might not. read more

Parking is available. There is 1 bathroom. The bathroom is clean. My food was tasty! I had a side of fries which was very yummy. The service was good and the ambiance was great! When the bill came, I realized I was charged $25 for my soup instead of $20 as listed on the menu. The servers took about an additional 15 minutes to make the adjustment on the bill. read more

Small restaurant , friendly, but the food lacked a pinch of salt to really zing. I would not go again.

This is the 2nd time I ordered take out from here and I have egg shells left in my food. The first time it happened I didn't make such a big fuss out of it. But this is now the second time this happens and there were eggshells everywhere in my chaufa mixto, I would take a bite thinking there wouldn't be anymore... and then I would proceed to feel the tiny crunchy bits. Incredibly disappointing. Couldn't eat my meal after that. I've tried calling , they don't answer the phones and when they have, they place me on hold and forget about me. So clearly management doesn't care, therefore I am warning you all with my review. Not sure if they don't care about takeout orders, or maybe it's because I ordered from Uber Eats with a discount code?? But the fact that they couldn't care less about customer satisfaction/service much less answer the phone, should raise some red flags. read more

I stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant on Grubhub, and was in the mood for something different. I like supporting local businesses especially during this pandemic because they need us more than ever. Lena y Carbon has various locations, this one is #6 or VI. The other locations listed on Yelp had good reviews and food, so I felt confident ordering from them. My order was done via Grubhub for pickup and when I arrived my food was right on time. Everything was correct, packaged properly and I knew it was freshly prepared because it smelled so good. When I got home my food was still hot and I couldn't wait to dive into it. I got half a rotisserie chicken with yuca and tostones! The chicken was well seasoned and taste was amazing. The yuca and tostones were also great and I tried the chuafa (fried rice)and there's an explosion in your mouth with the rice and seasoning! Literally obsessed with this place, it's so good! I've ordered from here at least 10 times now, both delivery and pick up and never had a problem. When I picked up, I was helped right away even though it was busy, it's a cute little place. All the chaufa is amazing, lomo saltado, chuleta, pollo, steak, had it all. Their aji verde sauce is my favorite. And their homemade passionfruit juice and chicha morada is also really good, it brought be back to when I visited Peru! Amazing food every time! read more

Great mom and pop restaurant with quality food. I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. We went when restrictions were lifted at the end of May and half the restaurant were filled with patron. They had constant phone orders the entire time we were there. The guy at the counter was extremely helpful and nice. Great service. Alot of locals seems to eat there so you know it's official. Seems like most of their customer is word of mouth so you know it's good. read more

Bad service and food was mid! I placed a pick up order which they said it was going to take 25 minutes. I go to pick it up and I am standing there not being acknowledged. Then they see me I ask for the order and she says 1 second and starts serving tables. After that she proceed to look for my order says is not ready! Goes to the back and find it right infront of me. This restaurant doesn't have good customer service or any service at all. I ordered from door dash and the message I get is that my order got cancelled. I called the restaurant to ask what happened but because she didn't speak English she purposely hung up. I called back and she would click on the first ring. She didn't even try to see if I wanted to pick it up or if I wanted to place an order. Going to the restaurant hoping I can even get an order, she denied helping me with that as well. She repeatedly kept telling me that someone took my order and that it happens. Conversation was going in circles. I asked again if she can make my order and she said no. I told her that I've been calling and she would hang up which was rude. Her reason was she was busy. Mind you, THE DAMN RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY and NO ONE was calling. Order food from here, and order got canceled. Tried calling the restaurant and a lady answered the phone. I explained and she didn't want to answer my question and hung up the phone. I called back several times and it would ring once and the phone hung up. This is not a great way to show any type of customer service and if the lady actually answered the phone, I could Had explained myself to a manager but instead I was not able to reach anybody. If you're in the south side of Edison looking for some Peruvian eats, you now have a choice between "Uncle Ralph's" and "Lena & Carbon". They are literally on the same street within two blocks of each other -- real life, in-your-face type rivalry on Woodbridge Ave. I've been a (mostly satisfied) customer at Uncle Ralph's for nearly a decade (although their tostones game has plummeted), but yesterday I just tried L&C and admittedly the latter hits different in the flavor dept and prices are slightly more competitive. The chicken from L&C takes on a smoky coal fired flavoring ( five finger lickin' delicious) and the fried rice is cooked to perfection, not hard and not over-salted. For me, the true test for L & C has yet to come: tostones! I didn't order them from L&C this trip. Let me find out that they can make those better than what I've had in the last decade and my rating just may go to 5 and they'd certainly gain a returning customer. read more

I really wanted to like this place because the food looks so good in the pictures. I picked up what they are known for, 1 Pollo al Carbon with the white rice and the beans, as my 2 sides. Everything was super salty, including the rice. The rice was not only salty but it was undercook, maybe their cook was having an off day. I agree the food is tasty but I had a hard time eating it because it was too Salty!!!! I won't be going there again. read more

Do you like flavorful food? If so Lena y Carbon is a must try! My husband is a native New Yorker and swears he can't find quality food in Central Jersey, that is until he tried LC! It's now a staple in our take out lineup. We typically order the whole chicken and rice and beans and are never disappointed. My 18 month son even gives this place two thumbs up. Refuses to answer phone to provide updates on order, takes entirely too long to get order. It sucks because I really do like their food SOMEtimes as I am obsessed with Peruvian food - but please look else where because this place will provide no customer service and good food only occasionally. Order in due to covid. Received my order and it was still nice and hot which is a plus. The portions are very large I must say and everything tasted nice and fresh. My only complaint is the chicken Chaufa was a little skimpy on the chicken part. The portion was large and full filling but pretty much all fried rice. There was a handful of chicken in there. First time ordering. I ordered my food at 5:40pm on Thursday and didn't receive it until 8pm. I live down the street. It took WAY to long to arrive. The chaufa with chicken was bland in flavor, not what I expected but the sauces were good. read more

When I called to inquire about this the owner did not bother to explain how that could have happened and just hung up the phone on me. I placed my order through Yelp app and i got a notification my food was ready for pick up and then i get there and the lady tried to tell me they didnt have any order. When i showed her the email with my order and payment a silly excuse was given. The food is great don't get me wrong but the customer service need improvement. I live nearby and one thing that prevents me from ordering or going there often is the customer service. I really hope they improve that because they can be very successful if so. read more
