We stopped in for a breakfast on Saturday. The place was packed, (always a good sign) but lots of parking. We figured it would be at least 30 minutes to get seated. But with a young, fully-staffed team, they were able to seat us within about 15 minutes. Clearly a well-run family business. The interior is quaint and simply country with lots of details making it very cozy. The service was nothing other than exceptional with very attentive servers. Lastly, the food. WOW. This family style restaurant is just the place you imagine seeing in " Country Living" magazine. From its country style vibe to the 5 star service you'd find in the city. This is a unique family owned establishment which clearly takes pride in their food and making you and your family feel like you are apart of theirs. The fruit was fresh, as if it was just picked and tasted like it was grown locally rather than frozen or trucked in. I ordered the corn beef and hash, which was clearly not from a can. The corn beef was cut fresh and the potatoes were moist not dried as it typically is/ would be if in a can. The biscuits and gravy was cooked well. They used fresh biscuits, rather than day old biscuits as most restaurants tend to use. The gravy had little pieces of sausage and it was not overly salty. The Home fries were excellent and certainly fresh. When the entrées comes out, you can tell right away that everything is made fresh and nothing is frozen bought. The only thing I would recommend with the home fries, order a side of gravy! Even the water tasted refreshing, as I learned by talking to the waitress, it was from a water well right outside their property. My wife had the pancakes which where fluffy and the sweetness was good. Not too sweet and not too bland. Once again, the fruit was very fresh she had on her entrée. The coffee was good, better than the Dunkin' Donuts down the street, which I had the morning before. The coffee was from a local distributor which I later found out. This café tries to help their community and buy locally which makes sense by the Quality of their foods. The service was excellent and they were very attentive to each customer. The cafe was very busy but everything seemed to flow accordingly. There was a little delay in getting out food but as soon as your entrée arrives and you taste their food, you understand why. There staff was extremely nice and told you a little about Honesdale where the cafe is located. Just a neat establishment altogether! The owners work there and they make sure their customers are taken care of. Just a nice change. You can not beat their prices for the amount of food you get! Never knew places like these exist! I highly recommend this cafe! If you are ever headed towards Honesdale or going to New York, take the time to stop by and experience this little gem yourself . I just had the beef cabbage soup for lunch about an hour ago. There were chunks of hard cabbage mixed in with the softer pieces. Probably the best part of my lunch as it had plenty of beef in it. I would give the soup a 7.0 on a 10 scale. I also had the chicken fingers with french fries. I was served 3 small pieces of chicken that had almost no flavor so I asked for honey mustard. The honey mustard arrived cold from the fridge and looked like yellow toothpaste squeezed from a tube. It tasted more like mustard than honey mustard and cooled down each piece of chicken as I dipped into it. I would rate the chicken fingers a flat 4.0 and the fries a 7.0. I was reaching for the ketchup to put on my fries and it was very evident that this bottle was old and refilled many times. The ketchup was made up of different red colors from at least two different brands. I passed on the ketchup. If this restaurant was located on Donner pass during the winter of 1846 I would definitely eat there and give it 5 stars. read more

1/28/19: This place is still amazing and they now serve coffee from Black and Brass Roasting Company (local coffee roaster located on Main Street in Honesdale). It is an amazing cup of coffee and really complements such a delicious breakfast. My favorite breakfast (#4 on the breakfast menu is a $1 more than it was back when I wrote my review nearly three years ago.. It's now $6.75 for two monster sized pancakes with two eggs and meat. This is still an amazing price considering how delicious everything is and now they are serving excellent coffee sourced from a local coffee roaster along with the breakfast. You can't beat that. Nearly three years later, I still highly recommend Stan's Cafe and is still my absolute favorite place in all of Northeast PA for breakfast. read more

Terrific little spot right near the main drag in Honesdale. We hit this place for lunch today, and left full and happy. I had the Turkey club + Husband had the Reuben. Both were tasty and generously portioned. We shared the chili-cheese fries, upon the recommendation of a fellow dinner. Those were outstanding! It was made with actual beef and bean chili and real cheese. Seems like they make a lot of stuff from scratch, which was a welcome surprise. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try.
