This is a pretty old school diner. Typical boothes, counter, stools and even a couple of newspapers to read. And everything was in tiptop shape and clean. Even the bathroom was updated and clean. My bride and I hopped over from Resorts World. Took less than 10 minutes. We have the fondest memories of this area. Our server, or as we said back in the day, waitress, Evelyn, was friendly and fantastic. We had delicious omelets with potatoes and we each substituted muffins for toast. Gloria had a mushroom & cheese with a blueberry muffin. I had a veggie omelet with a toasted bran muffin which was toasted to perfection on the grill. Everything was tasty, hot and accurate. I had an excellent lunch and experience at this diner. My server was quick to help and actually brought the Daily board, which was quite large, over so I can see it. I ordered a Greek salad wrap, which was perfect. Full of large chunks of feta and olives, and everything else contained in a Greek salad. 4.2 stars. We stopped on the way from NYC to upstate NY to spend the night in Monticello. Found this spot that had a big menu to appease our 3 kids. We were seated quickly on a Monday night, and our server was super nice and on top of it. A mainly local crowd, but we weren't treated any differently. Our orders ranged from turkey blt's, spaghetti and meatballs, cheeseburgers, and chili. They were all "solid" and I felt the price was a really good value for the quantity. We called in to do a pick up order. We were very happy with our order. It is definitely an older building inside and out, but it is very well kept. It has the classic diner vibe. I had called in to order a plate of spaghetti with marinara sauce. It also came with a cup of beef barley soup. The soup was for my partner, and she loved it. She said it was nice and thick, plenty of meat, and lots of. Flavor. There was plenty of barley, and it was at just the right texture. The cup of soup alone was enough for one meal for her... The plate of spaghetti was massive! I wish I would've gotten a picture. The pasta was perfectly al dente. There was a very good amount of delicious sauce, they gave us lots of grated Parmesan to put on top, and there was so much, each of us got two servings out of of it. Lil man loved his chocolate chip pancakes. Heads up the pancakes are huge. We ordered a short stack (2 pancakes) for each kid and they couldn't finish them. I spent the weekend up north and was looking for a breakfast spot. Well to my surprise this diner had one of my go to foods. I ordered the country fried steak and it was amazing ( tender & loaded with sausage gravy) it comes with two eggs, toast & either grits or home fries. Coffee was fresh & hot. Visiting from Southern CA. Went to Catskills area and there is nothing around and since we are visiting, we are not familiar with the place. It was late. We saw this Diner close to our lodging. We ordered breakfast for dinner and I ordered a cheesesteak sandwich/panini. They have a lot of choices in their menu. They give you lots of bacon! Big servings pretty much. Price is reasonable for the meal that we got. Everything is decent. What gets me is the customer service. It was close to their closing time (about 15 mins) and a couple of people walked in and they're welcomed warmly and asked to be seated. Any other places are gonna say "we're closing or kitchen is closing" etc. Our waitress is nice. I will probably never coming back to Monticello or Catskills area again BUT if you read this and need to find a place to eat, come here. read more

The Miss Montecello Diner harkens back to the old days when the area was in its heyday. This review is an amalgam of a number of visits over the years. There is a Greek influence in the cooking in a number of menu items. The tomato sauce can be too sweet for many tastes, but it seems to be " de rigeur " in many Greek run diners. The quality and freshness of ingredients seem to be an issue. The overuse of salt in their soups is another. On one occasion, I ordered stuffed shrimp with crabmeat stuffing. There was no taste of real crab meat, making the dish barely edible. On another two occasions, I had their breaded shrimp dinner, which was far too overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture. On our recent visit (and one might legitimately ask why we continue to frequent this place), my wife ordered the fish and chips. The batter over the flounder was dripping in overused oil. My wife didn't want to touch the batter. My sliced turkey, NOT off the bone, was actually quite good. Both of our soups, clam chowder, and Matzo ball were too salty. No amount of pepper could hide the salty taste. Many restaurants have had a hard time coping with the post covid environment, with prices for food, staff, and rent getting ever higher. So cost cutting, particularly with ingredients, suffers. It might be a good idea to simplify the menu and use better ingredients. That might spark greater interest and help improve the bottom line. Miss Monticello diner is great diner; you can tell it's been around for quite some time and is a staple in the neighbor. Located in Sullivan county in a small town it has nostalgic items in the menu and some new ones. The matza ball soup is a must try! Probably the best I've ever tasted. I had a Greek salad with chicken and it was so good! I ordered a small and the portion was huge. The feta cheese was perfect; I can tell it was a good quality brand as it wasn't too salty and not too watery. They have daily specials and all look so yummy. It seems the prices are high for the area but t least the food is very good. A new casino is nearby and I'm sure they get traffic from the casino goers.. But I do see a lot of locals eating there. Only minor things kept Miss Monticello Diner from getting a perfect five stars. I asked for lemon with my water but did not get it. There were three of us at the table and one person got their main dish quite a bit after the two of us. We started with an appetizer - garlic parmesan wings. I was greatly surprised how big the wings were with plenty of extra garlic parmesan. We chose soups all around lobster bisque and matzo ball soup. All came hot and delicious. Our dinners came with soup or salad and a side. My friends seafood platter cooked so nicely I mean look at the size of the lobster tail. I did not get a pic but my other friend got the chicken cordon bleu which took the longest to come out. My meal was the chicken fried steak. The portion size was huge and the sauce hardy. Cole slaw was better than most Diners. Ended the night with desserts - Coconut cake, baklava, and scoop of ice cream. Portion was small but I guess saving calories somewhere always works. This diner was just what I needed on my way from JFK to the Triple Cities after a redeye flight from the west coast. I ordered a combo that had eggs, French toast, sausage and bacon... pretty much everything. The plate was heaping with food delivered with a smile and piping hot and fresh. Out the door with a bottomless cup of coffee was under $20. I'll be back the next time I do that same trip. Definitely worth a stop!!! read more

Our family of 4 visited the Kartrite Resort for a few days and was looking nearby places to dine for breakfast. Yelp did not fail us and led us here which is a five minute drive from the resort. It's located on a main road and there's a small parking lot but parking was no issue. Upon entering, the waitress greeted and brought us to our table and took our drink orders. She was very friendly. We placed our breakfast orders. I had one egg (over medium) and it comes with hash browns, and toasts, coffee/tea. I loved how there's choice of one, two or three eggs platters with or without meat because I'm trying to cut down on the meat eating. The also have about 10 different types of omelettes and yes, you can request for customize to your liking on certain ingredients. Overall, food was good and service was quick and friendly. Our waitress came to us several times just to see if there's anything else we need which is great considering most diners waitress/waiter don't are so attentive at all especially once the food is out and of course only when it's time to pay so they can get their tip. read more
