Came here before my wedding. I asked for acrylic, soft almond, French manicure with chrome powder. The nail tech, Jenny, refused to do acrylic and instead opted for gel x despite my insistence I did not want gel x. She told me it would be safer for the baby (I'm pregnant) and made me feel terrible for wanting what I asked for. After googling I learned that gel x is not safer for the baby, both are considered safe in pregnancy. After shaping the nails I noticed they were more stiletto shaped than soft almond or even a regular almost. I brought this up to her and she used only a buffer to "fix" it which did nothing to change the shape. I told her I was still not happy with the shape. She did not fix it. She proceeded to use a transparent base coat you could see my nail bed through. When I asked for a more opaque one she told me no and assured me the chrome powder would hide my nails underneath--spoiler, it did not and the white tips were way too low to cover it as well. Mind you this was a standard French not a skinny French. She applied the white tips directly on top of the transparent base layer and managed to knock something into it. She blamed me for this and then "repaired" it by simply adding more white gel polish on top of the damaged cured layer leaving it incredibly lumpy. The nails themselves have crazy lift, no apex, just flat and sticking upward at a 20 degree angle like a plane taking off the runway. I paid for the most expensive gel mani pedi service they offer on top of the full acrylic set. Nothing stated to come with this service was included other than the gel polish. My calluses were not removed, cuticles were not trimmed, no hand massage or exfoliation or any kind. I didn't even get the acrylics I paid for and was forced to get gel x while staring at a full wall of acrylic powder so it's not a matter of them just not offering it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]By the end I was practically in tears. I tried to intervene to fix all of these very clear issues at every step and was completely ignored each time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This took Jenny over 3 hours to do so this wasn't like she was rushing, she just simply didn't care. My nails look a mess and I can no longer have close up shots of our hands and rings for my wedding two days from now despite telling her multiple times throughout those three hours how important that was for me. When I showed the girl at the front desk she looked just as disappointed in the quality as I was but didn't act surprised at all. She did refund me right away which was nice and offered to redo them for me but I was not able to do so because I had so many other appointments booked before the wedding that I needed to get to. I will end up walking down the aisle with nails that look like they were done by a fourth grader. read more

First time Maui visiter and I wanted to treat myself figuring to try a new place rather than waiting until going homes. I got a pedicure today and the lady scraped my heel and made it bleed. So raw and hurts so badly. She also had to redo my nail polish as the color I picked out smudged and I paid for a deluxe pedicure it was so rushed and when she put the mask on she took a popsicle stick a slap it on my shins only didn't even work it into my calves or on my feet. She did not concentrate and it resulted in a very poor job. My eye is red, irritated, and itchy. I have had extensions done in three states for ten years and never had a problem. This was an excellent place to get my hair done before a family photo shoot near Wailea! Sheena was very nice and knew what she was doing! My hair (shampooed, dried and had the curling iron used) lasted for the entire week that we were visiting the Island! Sheena was able to add volume and shine! I visited Lena's Salon and Spa for a shellac mani/pedi during a recent trip to Maui and would recommend it if you're looking for a nail salon in the area. I took a chance by walking in without an appointment on a rainy Sunday afternoon - there was only one nail tech working who was with another customer, but she made a quick phone call and said another employee could be there in a few minutes if I didn't mind waiting (I didn't mind, and it was a wait of less than 10 minutes). The salon has a large selection of OPI and DND shellac/dip/polish as well as some other brands I wasn't familiar with. I was happy with both my mani and pedi and my nails still look great 10 days later. I will note that I had a bit of sticker shock when I went to pay - holy cow it was insanely expensive! I'd be willing to bet that all area salons are ridiculously pricy though, just a word to the wise. There is, however, ample free parking! read more

I had the worst haircut of my life by a stylist at Lena's named Kathy! I asked for a choppy layered cut, and specifically told her I did not want the front tapered like a bob. She scolded me and said "You HAVE to taper it. It'll look good". I can understand making suggestions, but to tell a customer that you don't agree with what they requested and force them to have a style they don't want is ridiculous! Her idea of choppy layers was making one side 3 inches shorter than the other. She absolutely butchered my hair and I have been growing it out, so I can get it fixed.
