What a horrific experience I had with a so-called permanent eye makeup employee Jenny, at Lena's. All she did was talk on how great she is and that she has to fix the mistakes of all the other permanent tattoo artisans on Maui. Half of the time she was texting and on the phone with what was supposed to be a sterile environment and now I come out with a different color of my eyebrows to the color of my eyeliner. This was a horrific experience. Then she said if I paid in cash, she wouldn't have to charge me tax. WOW what is that all about? What a waste of $350 plus a $40 tip. Sheena is not very reputable! I came in going from long to short hair. She didn't cut it evenly. I went off island for couple weeks and when I called her to fix it Sheena said she would only adjust up to a week after haircut. She would make no exceptions. Said she had customers that come in every 3 weeks for cuts! Well I don't. I'm not a liar. She messed up!!! I've never been treated like this in a salon before. First time Maui visiter and I wanted to treat myself figuring to try a new place rather than waiting until going homes. The person with the purple hair answered the phone and she was really sweet so I was excited. I showed the lady who started my nails my inspo and I left my phone facing her so she could see. I said I wanted acrylics and she recommended gel x. I told her I've gotten both I just wanted them to look like the other photo and I figured that acrylic you can shape it better. The gel x she put on was already cut and shaped very thin and when she put them on I told her they were so thin and not how I asked. She got very upset and offended and told me it was my nail beds and that my nail beds were just small if I wanted it thicker at the end it would come off. She redid one of them, my first finger and you can see it looks bad. The girl doing my nails was rolling her eyes and complaining to the person next to her. I would assume she wasn't treating me like this because I was a tourist but by the end she was acting so annoyed I just wanted to leave read more

I've been to many nail salons on Maui, including very popular ones but I won't go anywhere else now that I've found Lena's. I first met Phi years ago when I needed a nail artist to fix someone else's error and what luck I had. I was so impressed by her eye for detail, helping you find just the color you like. She is highly skilled and works efficiently. I now drive 40 minutes to Kihei monthly to maintain my ancrylics and it's worth it. When Phi hasn't been available I've seen other gals who are equally skilled and I ALWAYS leave satisfied with pretty nails that last. My husband and kids love to tag along for pedicures and enjoy it. The environment at Lena's Salon is clean, professional, welcoming and comfortable. Also convenient to grab a bite to eat at the many nearby restaurants. Unprofessional and Unreliable Experience I initially chose Lena's Hair Salon based on positive reviews and called on 11/3/24 to book a blowout appointment for New Year's Eve. During the call, the woman I spoke with reassured me multiple times that my appointment was confirmed. However, something about the interaction left me feeling uncertain as I hung up. As a visitor to Maui, I was excited to try a new salon--especially since my hair can be difficult to manage, particularly while traveling. I was really looking forward to getting my hair done for a special night of dinner and dancing on NYE. Trusting my gut, I decided to call the salon again today (12/28/24)--just three days before my appointment--only to be told, "We don't have your reservation." When I provided the details of my original booking, the same woman offered no apology or attempt to fix the situation. Instead, I was met with indifference, leaving me frustrated and scrambling to find a replacement at the last minute. I spent the morning frantically calling other salons, most of which were closed, fully booked, or unresponsive. Fortunately, I was able to book an appointment with Lynn at Wash & Blow Hair Salon in Kihei. She was professional, easy to reach, and even offered seamless online booking. I'm so grateful for her responsiveness and professionalism, especially after such a stressful start to my day. While I can't comment on the stylists at Lena's, I can say that their lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable. I got a pedicure today and the lady scraped my heel and made it bleed. So raw and hurts so badly. She also had to redo my nail polish as the color I picked out smudged and I paid for a deluxe pedicure it was so rushed and when she put the mask on she took a popsicle stick a slap it on my shins only didn't even work it into my calves or on my feet. She did not concentrate and it resulted in a very poor job. My eye is red, irritated, and itchy. I have had extensions done in three states for ten years and never had a problem. This was an excellent place to get my hair done before a family photo shoot near Wailea! Sheena was very nice and knew what she was doing! My hair (shampooed, dried and had the curling iron used) lasted for the entire week that we were visiting the Island! Sheena was able to add volume and shine! I visited Lena's Salon and Spa for a shellac mani/pedi during a recent trip to Maui and would recommend it if you're looking for a nail salon in the area. I took a chance by walking in without an appointment on a rainy Sunday afternoon - there was only one nail tech working who was with another customer, but she made a quick phone call and said another employee could be there in a few minutes if I didn't mind waiting (I didn't mind, and it was a wait of less than 10 minutes). The salon has a large selection of OPI and DND shellac/dip/polish as well as some other brands I wasn't familiar with. I was happy with both my mani and pedi and my nails still look great 10 days later. I will note that I had a bit of sticker shock when I went to pay - holy cow it was insanely expensive! I'd be willing to bet that all area salons are ridiculously pricy though, just a word to the wise. There is, however, ample free parking! read more

I had the worst haircut of my life by a stylist at Lena's named Kathy! I asked for a choppy layered cut, and specifically told her I did not want the front tapered like a bob. She scolded me and said "You HAVE to taper it. It'll look good". I can understand making suggestions, but to tell a customer that you don't agree with what they requested and force them to have a style they don't want is ridiculous! Her idea of choppy layers was making one side 3 inches shorter than the other. She absolutely butchered my hair and I have been growing it out, so I can get it fixed.
