Came here before my wedding. I asked for acrylic, soft almond, French manicure with chrome powder. The nail tech, Jenny, refused to do acrylic and instead opted for gel x despite my insistence I did not want gel x. She told me it would be safer for the baby (I'm pregnant) and made me feel terrible for wanting what I asked for. After googling I learned that gel x is not safer for the baby, both are considered safe in pregnancy. After shaping the nails I noticed they were more stiletto shaped than soft almond or even a regular almost. I brought this up to her and she used only a buffer to "fix" it which did nothing to change the shape. I told her I was still not happy with the shape. She did not fix it. She proceeded to use a transparent base coat you could see my nail bed through. When I asked for a more opaque one she told me no and assured me the chrome powder would hide my nails underneath--spoiler, it did not and the white tips were way too low to cover it as well. Mind you this was a standard French not a skinny French. She applied the white tips directly on top of the transparent base layer and managed to knock something into it. She blamed me for this and then "repaired" it by simply adding more white gel polish on top of the damaged cured layer leaving it incredibly lumpy. The nails themselves have crazy lift, no apex, just flat and sticking upward at a 20 degree angle like a plane taking off the runway. I paid for the most expensive gel mani pedi service they offer on top of the full acrylic set. Nothing stated to come with this service was included other than the gel polish. My calluses were not removed, cuticles were not trimmed, no hand massage or exfoliation or any kind. I didn't even get the acrylics I paid for and was forced to get gel x while staring at a full wall of acrylic powder so it's not a matter of them just not offering it. By the end I was practically in tears. I tried to intervene to fix all of these very clear issues at every step and was completely ignored each time. This took Jenny over 3 hours to do so this wasn't like she was rushing, she just simply didn't care. My nails look a mess and I can no longer have close up shots of our hands and rings for my wedding two days from now despite telling her multiple times throughout those three hours how important that was for me. When I showed the girl at the front desk she looked just as disappointed in the quality as I was but didn't act surprised at all. She did refund me right away which was nice and offered to redo them for me but I was not able to do so because I had so many other appointments booked before the wedding that I needed to get to. I will end up walking down the aisle with nails that look like they were done by a fourth grader. read more

I asked for a gel French manicure and the nail tech had the audacity to tell the manager that she had to fix two broken nails and tried to charge me $75 for a freakin manicure. None of my nails were broken, just tried to overcharge me because she knew I didn't live here. She also did only one coat on my nails and it seemed rushed. Also got a pedicure (in the photo) and the paint went on so sloppily / uneven. Unprofessional staff. Didn't even congratulate me when I told her about my engagement and instead said "you have to come back next year and come here". Money grabbers. Go somewhere else if you can. read more

I had to return the same day because the polish on my toes started chipping. The polish on my nails started to chip on 02/06/2026. What a horrific experience I had with a so-called permanent eye makeup employee Jenny, at Lena's. All she did was talk on how great she is and that she has to fix the mistakes of all the other permanent tattoo artisans on Maui. Half of the time she was texting and on the phone with what was supposed to be a sterile environment and now I come out with a different color of my eyebrows to the color of my eyeliner. I first met Phi years ago when I needed a nail artist to fix someone else's error and what luck I had. I was so impressed by her eye for detail, helping you find just the color you like. She is highly skilled and works efficiently. I now drive 40 minutes to Kihei monthly to maintain my ancrylics and it's worth it. When Phi hasn't been available I've seen other gals who are equally skilled and I ALWAYS leave satisfied with pretty nails that last. My husband and kids love to tag along for pedicures and enjoy it. The environment at Lena's Salon is clean, professional, welcoming and comfortable. Also convenient to grab a bite to eat at the many nearby restaurants. First time Maui visiter and I wanted to treat myself figuring to try a new place rather than waiting until going homes. The person with the purple hair answered the phone and she was really sweet so I was excited. I showed the lady who started my nails my inspo and I left my phone facing her so she could see. I said I wanted acrylics and she recommended gel x. I told her I've gotten both I just wanted them to look like the other photo and I figured that acrylic you can shape it better. The gel x she put on was already cut and shaped very thin and when she put them on I told her they were so thin and not how I asked. She got very upset and offended and told me it was my nail beds and that my nail beds were just small if I wanted it thicker at the end it would come off. She redid one of them, my first finger and you can see it looks bad. The girl doing my nails was rolling her eyes and complaining to the person next to her. Unprofessional and Unreliable Experience I initially chose Lena's Hair Salon based on positive reviews and called on 11/3/24 to book a blowout appointment for New Year's Eve. During the call, the woman I spoke with reassured me multiple times that my appointment was confirmed. However, something about the interaction left me feeling uncertain as I hung up. As a visitor to Maui, I was excited to try a new salon--especially since my hair can be difficult to manage, particularly while traveling. I was really looking forward to getting my hair done for a special night of dinner and dancing on NYE. Trusting my gut, I decided to call the salon again today (12/28/24)--just three days before my appointment--only to be told, "We don't have your reservation." When I provided the details of my original booking, the same woman offered no apology or attempt to fix the situation. Instead, I was met with indifference, leaving me frustrated and scrambling to find a replacement at the last minute. I spent the morning frantically calling other salons, most of which were closed, fully booked, or unresponsive. Fortunately, I was able to book an appointment with Lynn at Wash & Blow Hair Salon in Kihei. She was professional, easy to reach, and even offered seamless online booking. I'm so grateful for her responsiveness and professionalism, especially after such a stressful start to my day. While I can't comment on the stylists at Lena's, I can say that their lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable. I got a pedicure today and the lady scraped my heel and made it bleed. So raw and hurts so badly. She also had to redo my nail polish as the color I picked out smudged and I paid for a deluxe pedicure it was so rushed and when she put the mask on she took a popsicle stick a slap it on my shins only didn't even work it into my calves or on my feet. She did not concentrate and it resulted in a very poor job. My eye is red, irritated, and itchy. I have had extensions done in three states for ten years and never had a problem. This was an excellent place to get my hair done before a family photo shoot near Wailea! Sheena was very nice and knew what she was doing! My hair (shampooed, dried and had the curling iron used) lasted for the entire week that we were visiting the Island! Sheena was able to add volume and shine! I visited Lena's Salon and Spa for a shellac mani/pedi during a recent trip to Maui and would recommend it if you're looking for a nail salon in the area. I took a chance by walking in without an appointment on a rainy Sunday afternoon - there was only one nail tech working who was with another customer, but she made a quick phone call and said another employee could be there in a few minutes if I didn't mind waiting (I didn't mind, and it was a wait of less than 10 minutes). The salon has a large selection of OPI and DND shellac/dip/polish as well as some other brands I wasn't familiar with. I was happy with both my mani and pedi and my nails still look great 10 days later. I will note that I had a bit of sticker shock when I went to pay - holy cow it was insanely expensive! I'd be willing to bet that all area salons are ridiculously pricy though, just a word to the wise. There is, however, ample free parking! read more
