I really hate that to be honest because I used to get my nails professionally done all the time when I could afford it regularly but now it's a huge treat when I can go to a salon period. Her niece or relative did my nails, I forgot her name. I am so bad with names :( She was really sweet and not pushy. I asked for a basic manicure and a design and she asked if I wanted a flower or snowflake. I chose a snowflake. It was quick and everyone especially the regular clients that were coming in and out were super nice. My friend told me that they used to be on Central Ave and that Mimi has been around quite awhile. Although this is not "her" shop, she definitely seems to rule the roost or has her loyal clientele who know where to ask for her. With that type of experience, she definitely has the professionalism and great sense of business to generate repeat business. I don't always reviewing services such as these because each experience is so subjective but she's pretty awesome! - accurate time estimate for services - explained exactly what each process was before she started - upfront about fees, charges but not in an aggressive manor - emphasis on cleanliness of her tools - when her next appt arrived early, she asked her to wait until the actual appt time or if she wouldn't mind grabbing a cup of coffee on her for waiting. I asked if they can clean it up. They gave me major attitude especially the lady who was doing it and basically gave up and asked the other work and I genuinely and kindly said, "come on, I came here for a professional nail paint. I can do a better job at home myself, can you please clean off the edges?" And nope they were just wanting me out of there when there's no other clients, and I said can I fix it and was saying okay you do it. Why spend almost $100 and go there to relax if they are going to give attitude and do the nails, I been to other places and should have gone to my regular place. Im accustomed to having someone use an emery board/dremel then wrapping the finger in foil with an acetone-soaked cotton ball. She must have been in a hurry because she just used the dremel the whole time to try to remove my dip manicure. When she was removing the old manicure on my index finger, the friction of the dremel created enough heat to burn and I pulled my finger away and said "ouch, that's hot." She apologized, but this continued to happen to multiple nails. NOT COOL! To make matters worse, her use of the dremel created dents and uneven surfaces on my nails so when she put the polish on, it looked awful. She then blamed me for going to a salon that did not apply the polish correctly. Totally unprofessional, considering my normal manicurist has always done a perfect job and has never hurt me when removing polish. I didn't bother asking her to fix it, as I did not trust her anymore. I only went to her because I couldn't get a last minute appointment with my usual salon. I Will never go back to My.
