Just reopened after two years down mainly due to City of Bloomington attitude toward the side of town across the interstate highway dividing the University side from it. Aside from that, this restaurant was a favorite for thousands of locals before being forced to move. The food at the new place is excellent Mom n Pop fare with best omlettes anywhere around here. We were in Bloomington on business. When we are out of town, we always check YELP for restaurant recommendations. They didn't let us down. It was lunch time but we both wanted breakfast. I didn't get the name of our server but she was so kind and patient. We both got scrambled egg plates. I got bacon and DH got ham. That ham was so yummy. I got grits and he got hash browns. The grits needed more salt but that could be a preference and a little more butter. Also, they could have been a smidge hotter. Overall, our breakfast was great and very reasonably priced. Decent breakfast. The hash browns are very soggy with no crispy so do not recommend. The omelets here are GREAT. The farmers omelet is covered in country gravy and is the egg flavor isn't too heavy. The service was a little slow, but I think that's because there are so many regulars so people don't seem to mind. We had biscuits and gravy, and a combo platter with eggs hash browns and pancakes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is exactly what the name suggests. The tables are cozy because they have an extremely high backs and you get a very secluded feeling. This is one of the few places that qualifies a Yes answer to Yelp's question "is this place intimate?" I ordered the Philadelphia Steak Sandwich with no mushrooms. You are offered the option of soup or coleslaw. Today there were two soups available with one being Chicken Bowtie which is basically chicken noodle soup. I chose the chicken bowtie soup. It was extremely good and it filled me up. So I was only able to finish half of my sandwich which came with fries. The fries were battered. Lettuce, tomato, and hamburger dill chips came on the side. The sandwich came with mushrooms which I did not notice until I had already eaten half a sandwich so the mushrooms were sparse and not overwhelming. So I was ok with it but I elected not to take the other half with me because of that. I didn't remember to look for the dessert section on the menu. Also the food comes out very quickly and is always cooked to your specifications. The only complaint is the dated decor and ambience as it's like they are going for 5 different aesthetics at one time and nothing works. Upon entering, you walk into a cozy space that feels like your grandparent's neighborhood diner. From the tattered charm to the friendly chatter, you feel as if you're being welcomed home--and you haven't even gotten your food yet! You order a dish of your choice and the waitress asks which 50 sides you'd like. I'm serious! You get an entire breakfast of sides with you breakfast. (Pancakes or toast, type of eggs, hash browns or grits...there's no way to finish it all at the restaurant!) I always get the corned beef hash as my main meal. It's the best corned beef hash I've eaten in my whole life. One of my top five favorite foods of all time and get this.. I don't even usually like corned beef hash! I can't even explain why it's so delicious you have to try it for yourself! When I go with a group of 10, every one of us orders it. We're hooked! Cheese, hash browns, and eggs layered with other ingredients in a warm skillet, as well as a side of toast, english muffin, or pancakes- there's not a better breakfast deal in town. Atmosphere: It's a local diner. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the inside won't surprise you. If you're looking for fancy eats, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for the dining equivalent of your favorite recliner, this is the place to go. Service: Cozy Table has a great relationship with its regulars. The servers do a great job and keep your coffee well topped off. They're very accommodating. The restaurant space itself needs a serious deep cleaning and refresh. It didn't feel clean. Lots of dust everywhere and ceiling tiles missing/stained. There was someone sleeping in a booth with a comforter- not sure what that was about. I love supporting small businesses- but I will not return to this one. There were very happy/friendly people and staff at this place, and the service was good; but the breakfast I ordered was terrible. The sirloin steak was bone dry and unseasoned, my scrambled eggs were overdone and dry, the grits were watery, the pancakes were rubbery, and all my food was served to me at room temperature. Their butter is straight up oil and sits on the pancakes like furniture polish on wood. It spreads easily but it does not absorb into anything. My syrup bounced right off my pancakes when I poured it. I am so sorry to write a negative review because the people here were so kind, but I was looking forward to using my cheat meal here and my food was awful! I'm so sorry, Cozy Table! I love diners. And there aren't many in Bloomington. Now it doesn't matter because I only need the Cozy Table!! I'm giving it a 5-star review, as in the diner category it's as good as it gets! This restaurant is located in the building formerly occupied by the Cloverleaf, and while it has been open for some time I had no idea it was there. Perhaps they should advertise a bit more, I'd hate for it to go away because nobody knows where it is! Diners are great because they offer a huge variety, large portions, speedy service and great prices. CT is no exception. Breakfast all hours, including just about anything you can name, sandwiches, steaks, homecooked favorites like meatloaf, and more. For a family on the go, having a place like this where everyone can find something they want, a somewhat healthy menu (not that I'd order anything healthy) and an easy place to get seated, order, and get out, the Cozy Table is a dream. My family of four had a feast, with good service, and a total bill of $29 INCLUDING TIP. Gotta love it. I had steak and eggs, hash browns, and pancakes instead of toast (no upcharge) - again, not healthy, but delish! Wife had traditioanl bacon and eggs, toast, hash browns. My daughter loved her hamburger (ate it all, which is a miracle in my eyes) and son had pancakes and bacon. My picky eaters were both very happy. Next time we'll do better on the healthy side. I love gravy with my omelets. There was an omelet called farmers omelet, it is a sausage, cheese and gravy omelet but I wanted some veggies. The omelet was pretty good! It had feta cheese on it. I've never had feta before so I decided to try it and I decided that I don't like feta cheese. I'm not sure if feta cheese melts like other cheeses but it wasn't melted in my omelet. I was very dissatisfied with the plain crepes I ordered. They were covered with A LOT of cinnamon and scorched (my guess in an attempt to cover the fact they were actually burned). I returned the plain crepes because of the cinnamon. I swear they rinsed them off, reheated them in the microwave and re-served them. Now the scorched crepes were also microwaved to inedible and had a slight taste of cinnamon. I had no chance to seek a remedy because the server never returned. When I tracked down my bill to pay at the register the question was posed was everything ok? I said I didn't enjoy the meal. No follow up questions other than do you want to add a tip.
