All I wanted was a grilled corn, beef and Swiss. I didn't want my corn beef grilled. I only wanted my sandwich to be grilled, which means the bread. They grill the corn beef slapped a piece of cheese on. The man didn't wait for the bread to get grilled and slaps it on the counter, listening to a complaint from one of his . Then he wrapped the overcooked crispy corn beef in a piece of tinfoil instead of putting it in a takeout container. I explained that if you wrap it in the tinfoil, the sandwich becomes soggy. So he handed me a takeout container. The corned beef was so grilled. It had no taste and it was to crispy. I will never go out of my way again to go to Lenny's. Made a stop here after church for breakfast. The line was almost out the door. I ordered a pancake platter with extra eggs and sausage which included a drink. The food is served via cafeteria style in a quick fashion. You are able to watch your food being cooked which has its positive and negatives. The negative is the kitchen needs a full deep cleaning along with the staff T shirts which has clear evidence of grease and food stains. The drink included with the platter is tea, coffee or a soft drink. None of the bottled drinks are included as signs are posted on the refrigerator doors. I explained to the cashier that I don't drink coffee at all, I only drink tea for a sore throat and I don't drink soft drinks for breakfast. I was inquiring for an additional drink option as I only purchased the breakfast platter because the drink was included. There are no options as I purchase a bottled orange juice to drink instead. There is open seating available with TV to watch while you eat. There is also a bakery and deli counter inside as well. Pretty good parking available outside. I will likely return but, hopefully some feedback will bring about some changes. read more

Not bad I have not been here for a while and I remember the sandwiches being a little bit bigger back in the day. this occasion I came in on a Saturday around lunchtime and it was pretty packed. The line was so long. I could barely get in the door. The line also moved very slowly. Once I finally made it to the counter, I placed my order. Just ordered three corn beef sandwiches on rye with Swiss and spicy mustard. I wanted to have them grilled so it took a little bit longer for them to be prepared. Once I was done there, I headed over to the cash register area. I grabbed a couple of bags of chips to go along with the sandwiches. I wanted to get a regular iced tea out of their refrigerator area. Unfortunately, the only kind they had was peach tea so even though it's not what I really wanted, I still got one. I decided to dine in to have my sandwich fresh and hot. Lenny's is a much have for the locals! This should also be a must have for those visiting outside of the area. I went here specifically for a rainbow cake. It's my husbands favorite and they always have it ready to go. Service is quick and easy. You walk to the register and tell them what you want. From there you go to the register to pay. My go to is the bagel, lox and cream cheese on the breakfast menu. An almost equal choice is corned beef on rye with mustard on one side of the bread and a slice of onion. This seems to be a community institution, but the most notable aspect about it is how laughably poorly-run the place is. I put in a to-go order that said pick up in 35 minutes. I got there about 50 minutes later and then I had to wait another 20 minutes for the order to be given to me. When they called me up to get it the first time, someone came out of the kitchen at the last minute and said they forgot something. When I got home, I discovered they had forgotten something else. It's really not that hard to establish protocols, planning, and organisation for a business, but I guess if the public allows businesses to coast by regardless of incompetency, it's all right as long as the money is made. The food was not good either - spectacularly plain; nor was it a good value. At first it seems it's a good value until you realise the menu ought to be read literally and most of the stuff you'd expect to include a side of this or a side of that is just a la carte. It's a shame Tsam's up in the middle of Owings Mills barely opens, because the food is excellent and there aren't such egregious difficulties getting the product out there. But in the absence of any other decent breakfast restaurant, I say just go to iHop or some other chain where at least the food will have a satisfying taste and you won't have to babysit them to such an absurd degree. read more

First timer at Lenny's this month. If I lived closed, I would absolutely go back constantly. It's a great diner and the food portions are large. Customers go through a (long) line to reach the counter where the several cooks make each order from scratch and right in front of you. There is a really large seating area of tables and booths. There is a dessert section that looks wonderful (but I did not try it so cannot provide an opinion). My whitefish salad platter was large and a great value for $16. This place is filthy! The level of cross contamination is crazy! I took my mom in there this evening to get some dinner. We ordered sandwiches. While I was waiting I looked behind the counter and I wish I hadn't. The guy that made our food put our sandwiches on the unclean counter to cut & wrap them. After he cut the sandwiches he took the knife and scraped it on the edge of the counter, then pushed the scraps on the floor. One guy kept sniffing and wiping his nose with his arm as he was making food. The equipment is covered in grease buildup. How in the world is this filthy place so popular. Never a disappointment when I come here. I've only been here for breakfast and it's one of the best breakfast spots in Baltimore. They are fast, efficient and food is very good. I've been coming to this local institution since the 1990's! This classic New York style deli opened here in 1985. While certainly renovations have occurred over the past 4 decades, the overall feel is the same. It's spacious with classic cozy diner seating and decor. The menu is simple but robust. Breakfast musts include the nova lox bagel, egg sandwiches, and the pancakes. The coffee is decent, with flavored brewed coffee and two coffee machines; Folgers for plain and decaf, and another machine for special coffee drinks. They do not make espresso drinks or drip pours or any hot drinks by hand. Lunch time musts include the pastrami sandwich or really any sandwich you enjoy.... All are piled high with fresh ingredients. The deli has a good selection of items for bulk purchase, such as chicken salad, egg salad, cheeses, deli meats, bread, pastries, etc. Stop in for breakfast or lunch. I have been a continuous customer at Lenny's Deli for the last 25 years and I can't be more disappointed. Lately I have been somewhat close to some of the line Cooks I have gone to Lenny's everyday as I said for years, however, the line cooks are all being phase out! And I hate to say this but it seems to be racially motivated. There were Americans working the line African Americans and caucasians. Now out of 10 guys working the line at least seven of them are Indian or Pakistani. The food is nothing like it used to be. I went to the deli and they told me that the slicer was cleaned and I couldn't get my lunch meat cut this was at 6:45 and they don't even close until 7:30. I'm at work because of my work schedule I am constantly running and right as they are about to close and I was always given wonderful service however that has changed immensely The girl that I enjoyed working with has not been there recently and the last time I saw her I mentioned this . She told me that her hours were cut but she had to train others to take her hours! If she's good enough to train new people she should be good enough to work the job that she now has to train other people to do at the expense of her own family! This whole situation is horrible. Lenny's has been a staple in owings mills for the decades. It has a deli section where you can order things to go and there's a counter where you can order breakfast or lunch for them to make on site. The last time I was there I ordered a bagel sandwich which was just okay. The bagel was a little dry and the ratio with the ingredients inside was a little off - a lot more bagel in each bite. The area to sit down is pretty basic but it's not super inviting I think discouraging people to hang out for hours. read more

Slow, slow service. We arrived at 2pm and were surprised to see a line all the way to the front door at this traditionally slow time. We soon found out why. It wasn't that Lenny's is so busy; they're just doggoned slow. Despite plenty of staff bustling around, they're disorganized. A turkey club doesn't take 10 minutes to make (especially when you order it without bacon, it's just toast the bread and assemble). And all this time you're standing, first to get to the front of the line, then to get your order prepared. My friend has health problems where standing for extended periods of time is hard on her. I ordered lunch here yesterday over the phone for take out. I ordered a half a Reuben sandwich and a house salad (the combo special). When I walked in I was impressed with how big the establishment is and the assortment of food items. I was also happy to see NJ/NY style baked goods. So I ordered some leaf cookies and vanilla lace cookies. The cookies were good but I think they might have been a little old as they were not quite stale but definitely getting there. The Reuben sandwich was also tasty. I think I received the wrong salad. I ordered a house salad but received a apple pecan salad. I'm not sure if that's their house salad or not but it was good.
