I know the landscape rocks were twice the price here than HD but came here because I wanted to support a local business and I have a savings card. Tina, middle aged Harley rugged looking lady asked me if I needed help and I said I'm looking for landscape rocks. She tells me she needs to ring them up front. I told her I needed to see them first. What pissed me off was she didn't tell me where they were and pretty much told me what any adult in Illinois would know. Did she say that because I'm brown, maybe she thought I was going to rip her off or that I'm an idiot I have no clue but she needs to work on her customer service skills. I'd rather drive a different Ace store or HD than come here. read more

I have 100 year old house and this is one of the few hardware stores around that carries items that can fix that many problems occur. I've always been able to get help when I ask for help otherwise they keep out of my hair which I really appreciate because sometimes I'm going in there and I'm just wandering around trying to figure something out and I really don't want to discuss it with anyone. read more

Save yourself the trip and go to Home Depot. There's always 4-5 employees working but they are usually just talking amongst themselves rather than helping anyone out. I don't think this is done on purpose I truly think they just don't know any better. Two times ago when I went here they were all pow-wowed in the corner debating the Black Lives Matter movement while I searched for the tools I needed. My last trip was the deal breaker as I was purchasing a power tool which I don't know much about. I had questions including whether the power tool came with the battery and what the difference was between the different brands. The employee misinformed me that the tool came with the battery (which then turned into another $70 separate purchase) and did not seem to know anything about the different tools that were for sale. Disappointing because this is a convenient store, but going forward would only go here for something small or if I knew exactly what I needed. read more

You can go to Home Depot or Menards, but you'll never get the help and attention that you get at this Ace Hardware. These guys really know their stuff and have always steered me in the right direction when I'm working on a DIY project at home. Everyone is always helpful, friendly and I've even learned a thing or two by talking to the people who work there. read more

What is the purpose of paying online for curb side service when social distancing was not followed by the employees? An employee asked to hold my phone to look at my order. Unbelievable, the item was defective and had to go inside the store after all. No wonder this virus is spreading. read more

I love how this place always has someone waiting to help you the second you walk in store in case you need help finding something, which is almost always. Very friendly and very well stocked. Easy parking in front also, just dont bump that cement wall like I have many times. read more

This place is great. You may pay a tad bit more but the easy in, easy out compared to the big box stores makes it worthwhile when you need to pick up that certain thing. And the staff always seems to know the answer to any question. read more

Recently called and spoke to a very nice lady in the key cutting department. I needed new keys cut for my car. She was very helpful and I traveled to the hardware store during my lunch break and was helped by two guys at the service desk. They took the time to cut my keys correctly. There is absolutely NO reason that the staff and management can't wear masks. I saw the manager Bob with mask on only his mouth and nose uncovered. Terrible. Set an example, please. We are in a pandemic and those who refuse to mask up prolong the shutdown for everyone. Not going back until I see changes. read more

Great place to go if you want to be treated horribly. Will never go back. If you want to see customer service at its worst, this is your place. I love to support the local businesses, so you know ACE is my first choice before visiting the neighboring Home Depot. Everyone there is soooo helpful. The only thing I get frustrated with is that they're closed on Sundays. I get it- they need days off too! but many home improvement projects happy on weekends- Sundays included. It's conveniently located and it's much easier than walking into a larger store like Home Depot.

Always so helpful and take you right to what you need. Employees help you load up your car and it always so low-hassle. The big-box stores may have more stuff, but ACE really has what you need. If also find the prices are very comparable and sales are great. read more

Local, easy to get to and I've only ever experienced friendly, helpful service. Today they waited for me to get there after closing (I'd called first) to get an emergency item and then took time to explain how to use it...again, after hours. read more

Honestly, I don't really like Ace Hardware stores to begin with. Since I'm in construction I'm always running out for tools, lumber, etc and Ace is not the most helpful place. I prefer to shop Menards and Home Depot mainly because of the cost and more employees there to help you get what you need and get out. read more
