This location carries most of the items I need. For some other items, I need to go to one of the larger locations. I recommend Home Depot.

I was at the location in OakBrook Illinois a couple of nights ago looking for plumbing supplies and waited 20 minutes for help. I was approached by Matt with a "what's up" as the greeting, informed him he should approach customers more professionally and he told me that he covers the entire store and I need to speed up my ask. At that point, I asked for a manager and he refused and said I could go request one at customer service where Jason showed up. Jason assisted me with my plumbing questions, helped me find the right parts and I left to go purchase at a competitor. While I was in lawn and garden I was passed up by two female associates eager to empty out garbage cans versus acknowledging me in the aisle or offering me assistance. Sad state of affairs at this location as of late. read more

Went to buy a new front door. Nobody in the door department to help and other employees I found said they could not help me with the doors. So went to Lowes and got a door from them. Came with benefit of free shipping. Will skip Home Depot next time and head to Lowes. They seem to want my business. read more

I found the employees in the store to be very helpful. WIth such a vast inventory, it's hard for individuals to be experts in every department, but it's great if you can find one knowledgeable in the department you need. read more

I ordered a simple curtain rod from Home Depot (48 -72) inches. what a ....ing fiasco to get this item delivered. I was on the phone for 50 min!! trying to find out where my pkg was delivered, as I had not recieved anything. Even tho their own delivery form said it was delivered. I had to talk to 2 different ppl to get a refund. The guy told me to cancel/refund the order. And then reorder for an additional cost . What he didn't say was they don't have the size I needed until all of the paperwork was already filled out. By the time I noticed it it was too late. They were sold out. I cancelled the second order for a refund. I was out of mind w anger. What should have happened was delivery guy should have taken a picture of where it was delivered. Then the phone conversation should have been " sorry for all this trouble we'll order the size you need and send it to you for NO charge. Apparently they are idiots there in Oakbrook terrace store. NEVER AGAIN. I'm a 70 yo disabled woman and really didn't need this BS. After 50 minutes on the phone I was a nervous wreck. I will share my story with all my friends and relatives and shop elsewhere. read more

April 27th at approximately 10:10am, I was at the self checkout kiosk @ the Glendale Heights, IL., store. Two female employees were standing behind me talking, when a customer approach them and was jokingly talking with one of the females, she made a comment that she likes his hat, customer replied "Thank you", as he walked away. The same female employee continued to talk to her colleague and says" I need to get me hat like that, and I told my husband we need to get to Trump mugs, because he's going to be in office for 4 years". Once I finish with my purchase and walked passed them to head to the customer service desk, they did not say " Thank you and have a good day". I felt it was intentionally towards me. I was not going to address the employees about the unprofessionalism in a workplace. I requested to with a manager at the customer service desk. I spoke with Jackie(manager), and ask if HomeDepot have a policy like most corporate/ companies regarding their employees not to talk about religion and politics in the workplace, she stated " ABSOLUTELY", and then I told her the experience I just witness. This is unacceptable in a place of business, especially in front of customers. The disregard the 2 employees had in my presence speaks at lot about Home Depot, maybe it is acceptable, but it should not be. read more

I haven't been to Home Depot in years. I was looking for some hanging hooks for a mirror that I had purchase. I walked around for five minutes looking for someone to assist me. Where are the employees in this place? Luckly, I spotted a gentleman to help me. He looked around just as confused. He told me to give him a second to find someone that could help me out. I waited another 5 minutes. I was finally greeted by an assisted to help me out. I told him what I was looking for and instantly was lead down this aisle. Reggie was nice and super helpful. Made a mistake of going to the Home Depot without the sale flyer. I asked several employees where the ladder was.... No one knew. Found what I thought was the sale one, brought it to the Customer service counter and she didn't know if it was the one on sale as it didn't show that price and she didn't have a flyer. I had to carry the ladder back to where I got it...while numerous employees were standing around talking to each other or on the phone. Next I was looking for the hand cart that was in the flyer...no one knew where that was either. No one could even tell me if it was still in stock. I will start going to the big Home Depot in Downers Grove. At least the employees there seem to be willing to help customers. read more

There are three Home Depots that are approximately the same distance from my home. Of those 3, this HD is my least favorite. I have been in here several times and each time I feel like a less than customer. I don't know if it's because I am a woman or that I am not a contractor making a huge purchase but the "you are not a priority" feeling is the same. My most recent visit was on a Monday at 10:30a, not what I would consider a peak sales time, yet I still had to ask 2 different associates "can you page someone to help me?" It wasn't until I found an employee roaming the isles that I was able to secure assistance. Even with an employee helping me there was an odd attitude, "Why is everyone coming in here and asking for those screws?" Heavens, I don't know or care who 'everyone' is I just want to make sure I get the matching fastener so I don't have to return them. I wanted to say, "If everyone is asking, then why is it taking you so long to find them?" but I held back. read more

Every time I go to this location I have a horrible customer experience. The people there are rude. The employees walk right by you & never ask you if you need help. I stood next to an employee for over 5mins in a section & he never asked if I needed help. At the checkout the ladies were disgustingly rude & on top of that a random table that was laying around fell on me almost ripping off several of my nails . I should've complained but no one who seemed to care or was in charge was present . On a separate incident my boyfriend ordered curbside to pick up a toilet... we waited & waited & waited . 20mins later he went in & it was sitting right at customer svc. No one to help so he grabbed it himself. Good thing he's strong. This store is crap & should be shut down in my opinion-make a menards or Walmart . I like going to this store becuase it's easy access to get to in my area. There is plenty of parking. My recent visit we had a great experience. This little old lady at the register helped us with our gift cards (one birthday and one christmas). The section of the gift cards were full and well organized. The overall store has what you need for any type of home improvements inside the house or for outside yard work. It's spaceous and noticed people who work here greet you and ask if you found what you need. No I need help, what else do you recommend, etc. I've haven't had a bad experience and whatever I need to purchase there, I was able to find. Prices are comaprable as some other hardware stores. I'll be back if I need to purchase something that needs to be fix at the house. read more

Today, checked in, waited 22 minutes, had to call store to find out abt not working and they didn't have have my order listed. eventually got my items. My order was to be ready on Tuesday. When I called I was told it would be at least 4 more days because they were too busy. Clerk was rude. I followed up on my order via phone days later & they had it ready but failed to notify me. So I confirmed with the clerk if I came right then it would be ready and available. He assured me it would be no problem. I arrived at the store 20 minutes later...called the curbside number to get a vm box that hadn't been set up. So I called the store number to be told curbside was over for the day. That there was nothing she could do to help and it didn't matter that I had double checked and was told to come at that time. After speaking with a manager who told me if I was willing to wait 20-25min they would bring out my order. Never never shop there!! Nothing but incompetence and rudeness. Since 2016, I have been going to this HD. No issues! When you buy and not have to deal with anybody you will not have anything to complain. In 6 years, I have learned where everything is, aisle by aisle. From there I have bought from plants to concrete, from paint to renting tools. Last month my wife decided to buy a two sheer shades and ended up going and order them from there. We ordered on April 5th , paid and 2 weeks later I got them delivered. When i opened them, one was a bit damaged, I figured out what was wrong with it and decided to go and talk to them to get parts to replace. Went into the "window treatment" area and nobody was there. Asked around and a lady that was there made a call for somebody to show up. Waited 10 mins walking around the kitchen cabinets and still nobody came along. Okay fine, it is evening, slow going, let me go to the front and ask. Went to the customer service area and asked about my issues. This lady "future manager" sent me to the window section. I asked if this was right but she insisted that an employee should be there. Again OK! Let's see how this will turn up, deep down thinking this ain't right. When i went to the window/door area a gentleman was there and right away he told me "no I don't deal with window treatments, a common mistake, but happy to help". In the mean time he picked up the phone, told me to wait next to him, and made a call to the back (where the employees got their break rooms). He told me to wait 5 minutes in the window treatment area and they should be there. He advised they were on shift change. Okay I will wait! 10 mins waiting and now nobody showed up. I lost it and left home. Driving home I called customer service and first time the call dropped. Never got a call back. Second time and another guy picked up. Told him the story and he advised to go back with the shades. I was okay but unhappy that nobody can help me. Vented a little and he hanged up on me! Now I was really pissed. Picked up this 9 ft sheer shade, put it in the car and went back. When I went to talk to customer service this lady "future manager" made a call and now she told me nobody was there to help me. She advised that I will get a call tomorrow. Asked for a manager and her reply was "I am the manager". Go FKN figure a manager that doesn't know the difference between windows and window treatment! Almost 2 hrs into this story and now i felt that there was no point dealing with them. The next day I called Levorol. Their customer service was gracious and helpful. Spoke to me and suggested to check if there was more damage if the case I'll have to return this shade. There wasn't and so they sent me the parts needed and fixed it myself. Thanks Levorol! Over two weeks later, I am still waiting for a call from HD! That day would be the last time I stepped into that HD. And if I plan my jobs ahead I will buy online or through other stores. Avoid ordering from this store they are completely incompetent. I ordered 3 different bulk garden items they delivered one of them. I called and they said they would deliver the rest tomorrow and they never showed up. I called again and they said the next day. At this point I said to credit my credit card for missing items and 2/3rds of the rest. They called me back saying they would refund the missing items and 100% of the delivery fee. Checked my credit card today and I was credited some of the missing item value but ultimately was charged more than $7 a bag of mulch that costs $3.33 . I called the 1800 number and explained what happened but the customer service representative said he couldn't help me. What should have been an easy internet order and delivery has been a big mess due to their incompetence. Please avoid ordering anything for delivery from the Oak Brook Terrace store they are not up to the task. read more

I bought carpeting for my condo and Joan was very helpful in saving me some money being on a fixed income. I was told that the carpeting will be install in 7 to 10 days. #H1982-142804. We went to check the installation, Norma told us that it will not be ready for installation until the end of September. I almost fainted and question why promised 10 days and now it will take 6 weeks. I called today Sep 6th and talked to the kindest, helpful and superb Bob. He even give me the number of the installer for me to inquire when I'm scheduled. I got the answer and the installation company even give me the date. I have answered 3 job placement offers and made appointments and visited with the HR women 3 times. The first 2 positions, I was told that I was not strong enough to handle the position without even testing my lifting capacity. The 3rd time, today - 11/8/2021 @ 8:00AM, I was told that the position was filled already. No one called even after I left messages 3 times over the weekend to try to confirm the posting. I am a 71 year old male Vietnam veteran who spent 1971 in-country and recieved 1 Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars and 3 Purple Hearts. Went to Home Depot and needed help loading a large item in my van they said they could not help load items because of social distancing. So I returned items and went elsewhere. I understand the issue but the 2 gentleman workers we like 3 feet from each other telling me this. Really my van is easily 10 feet from where I am and them. WOW. What a debacle! Cannot get any satisfaction from Home Depot Customer Service regarding an order shipment that they claim was delivered on Dec. 9. I explained that our home video confirmed no delivery was made that day. Spoke to 7 people including 2nd level supervisor who put me on hold for over 50 minutes and never came back on call. A second call and another round with a new supervisor Shaunna yielded nothing..in fact things only got worse telling me that she could not do anything for me..Couldn't contact delivery company, couldn't send me a new Grill since they are now on back order...and couldn't give me a refund...only option is to wait 3-5 days to hear from yet another supervisor... I had an experience this past summer but I haven't had a chance to report it until now. I purchased an appliance from here from a young man and I noticed there was an elderly gentleman in the department who had a rude, glaring look to him but I ignored it and continued my purchase. Later on, there was a problem and one of the women there helped my husband *resolve it. My husband gave her compliment and said: It takes a woman to solve a problem! The elderly gentleman said to him "I don't know how women are treated IN YOUR CULTURE?" He didn't even know which culture my husband was from! He is just a classic racist. So watch out for the elderly man in appliances, he is a racist! *edited to add, her "resolution" did not really solve the problem but atleast she tried. I picked up a few items including a power strip. When I got to the self check-out, I noticed the power strip didn't have a barcode. The woman running the self checkout registers said, "you will have to go get another one." You can keep your power strip was my response. That's horrible customer service. This was not my first bad experience at this HD. I wish there were a Lowes or Menards in the area. Until then I would rather pay a little more and shop at Ace Hardware down the street. read more

Walking through the Appliance Department on a late Sunday evening and was pleasantly greeted by Patrick. Service with a smile. To be approached and asked if I need help I feel is a thing of the past. Patrick was super helpful friendly and if he didnt know the answer he still helped and found what we needed. Great with my 7 year old daughter too. My husband and I just bought our first home in Chicago. One of the first major projects is remodeling the bathroom. Everyone kept telling us to go to HOBO in Villa Park. We spent 2 hours there, and left empty-handed and very frustrated. We head to this Home Depot a few miles away and had the BEST experience. We walked in and the woman at the door immediately asked us if we needed help. YES! She guided us to the bathroom tile aisle and said someone will be there shortly to assist us. In walks, Marita Pearce, Home Depot's Design Consultant. She was SO wonderfully helpful. She knew exactly what she was talking about and offered ideas at ease based on our needs/preferences. We were, admittedly, indecisive so she was incredibly patient in helping us design our ideal bathroom! She led us from aisle to aisle, thoughtfully suggesting various items. We never felt pressured to buy any more than we intended which was very much appreciated. They only had one vanity left that we picked out. After going to the storage room herself, she came back and said the vanity was in an already opened box and she noticed it was scratched. We definitely appreciated her honesty! She wrote down the sku number and looked up other stores that had it in stock, as we definitely wanted to purchase it that day. The glass tile we picked out was a special buy at a great price. They only had 3 boxes left, and we needed 3 more. She checked around to see which other stores had it. She called the Home Depot closer to where we lived and had 3 boxes reserved for us. This same store also had the vanity. Great detective work that saved us a lot of time and energy! We noticed a sign that Home Depot was having a bath event that was ending the day we were there. We WOULD have qualified for the discount had the vanity been in stock. We asked Marita if we could show our collective receipts to customer service to receive the discount. She checked with her manager and unfortunately the manager said the sales had to be at the same location. We were obviously pretty bummed (why should we eat the potential savings for a store not having something in stock?). Marita noticed our reaction immediately and said she'll be right back. She came back and said that her manager ok'd the discount at this location (prior to us purchasing the vanity at the other location). We were thrilled! Marita walked us over to the cashier to make sure we were awarded the discount. WOW! I could go on and on. Though I don't live in or around Oakbook Terrace, I simply might drive out there should I need Marita's advice and expertise again! She made the shopping experience so easy and actually FUN! For that reason, I don't mind paying a little bit more for items at Home Depot. THANK YOU, Marita! Kudos to your excellent customer service! Yes, as my friends harass me.... as I was just deemed as The Duchess of Home Depot, due to all of my check ins here as of late. Yes, I do truly enjoy this Home Depot... not only is it conveniently close to my house... I have been to many a DIY types of places... HD, Lowes, Menards... but I think that the people who work here are VERY helpful & are VERY nice. From the paint department (where I have gone quite recently for our almost painted master bedroom, thank god) to the nursery.... and even the people who man the refund line (where I could see that job be quite hairy) are VERY nice. So friends... harass me all you want... but I am proud to be the Duchess of Home Depot & hopefully I will be there enough that one day I will be QUEEN! read more
