The store was friendly when making an appointment via phone last week, but the customer service is pretty mediocre at this location. This was a first experience at LensCrafters as it was recommended for safety glasses for work. Upon entering, the first staff member asked for the appointment name and details. He led us to look at the safety glasses, and stepped away from us to greet a customer that walked in. We weren't checked on for a few minutes and my husband went to ask the staff member for assistance to move forward with obtaining the safety glasses. There were staff in the back, but no one was attentive to us as we looked at the glasses. This location has a large selection of glasses, but the customer service lacks. The staff member didn't know about whether the safety glasses had fog resistant material and her response was "the glasses wouldn't be made to fog up if they are safety glasses." Her response lacked knowledge about the glasses and wasn't very reassuring. Overall the store is busy and has a steady flow of customers. The turn around rate for the glasses is great as the glasses that were ordered would be ready in 2 hours, but a suggestion would be to train staff to know all of the details about safety glasses and all eye glass products. Update- Upon picking up the glasses, no case was provided. We have never received glasses without some sort of case at any eye glass store ever. What the heck? LensCrafters are pretty disappointing with the lack of cases for the delicate products. Glasses have to be stored somewhere right? We are still puzzled about this as usually even a small sleeve is offered. Note to other shoppers, go to Costco. read more

I just left LensCrafters, and Dr. Lam is amazing! He was very helpful and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand. He offered me exactly what I needed. All the staff was friendly. First thing i noticed when i walked in was that there was no lab. They were under construction. You can't get your glasses in an hour like I have for years. I guess I will be ok with that, except they should tell you that when you make an appt. Second i had an appt with a dr. Who isn't even here. There is 1 dr. Here. They are behind an hour. I would give no stars if I could! I had an 11 AM appointment. When I asked how much longer at 11:30, I was told it shouldn't be much longer. Well, it was. At 11:55 I told them I needed to pick my son up from school at 12:10 and they said they couldn't go in while the doctor was with a patient and that everyone has different needs. At 12, I decided I can't wait any longer and don't want to support a business with such bad customer service. Had they told me the doctor was running late I wouldn't have wasted an hour of my day sitting in their waiting room. Now my head hurts from the dilation and lights in my eyes for NOTHING. We didn't know what to expect coming into this location. I read the reviews before setting up an appointment here but i'm not the type to base my decision solely on certain people's experiences. Granted, their experience might have been bad but everyone is different and it's always good to see for yourself. I'm so glad I trusted my instinct and set up appointments for my husband, daughter and myself. We had the BEST eye check up here! I'm not over exaggerating this either. Walking in, John greeted us. Had us fill out a few basic paper work and within a few minutes Mercedes took over and did our pre-examination. She was really sweet and explained what she was doing beforehand. She was really nice to my daughter too. Definitely made her feel at ease. After that, we went on to see Dr. Heidi Tao. I really have nothing but nice things to say about her. She made the process of a simple eye examination for others so much more informative and fun for us! We were so comfortable with her. Felt like she was a friend we knew for a while. She explained our eye exam to us comprehensively. Wish we had an optometrist like her a while back. She knew we were new to the area and gave us tips on which restaurants and food to try out. She was awesome and always had a huge smile on her face! Their equipment is so modern and up to date too! We chose our frames and to our surprise, we were told our glasses would be ready within an hour! This was a huuuuuge surprise to us because we were used to waiting for 1-2 weeks for glasses. An hour tho? That was awesome! They have their own lab so they can have your glasses ready for you as long as they have your frames in stock. We had lunch and picked up our glasses after that! It was that quick! Don't let other's negative reviews regarding this place scare you away. We didn't and it worked out great for us! I have been a lenscrafters patient for over 15 years and always received great service. Today it was a different story! I ran out of contacts and scheduled an appointment at the location I have been a patient of for more than 5 years, Brea Imperial. My appointment was scheduled for 4:20 PM and I realized at 2PM that I would not make it in time, so I called to reschedule for the following week. However, I needed to pick up a few sample contacts to hold me over and they told me they would have them ready for me. When I arrived in the evening to pick up my spare contacts the sales person told me they could not give me the spare contacts because my prescription had expired. I told her that I called twice and spoke to someone who rescheduled my appointment and knew I was picking up the contacts and holding them. She refused to give me the spares after a different rep was already getting them for me. I explained to her that I would be out of contacts soon and just needed a few to hold me over and she said she could not give them to me. At this point I was so upset because I had just driven in from LA in traffic. I told her I was a long term patient and had an appointment with them next week but she still refused. They have now lost a loyal customer due to this salesperson's lack of accommodation and customer service. I have spent thousands of dollars at their location with the amount of contacts and frames that I have purchased over the years, but now I will be looking for a new optometrist. read more

This lens crafter is awful. I bought I insurance and they will not honor or it to replace my glasses, gave me excuses that make me pay for full replacement of my frames. The staff are so helpful when making appointments and checking insurance coverage. The optometrists all of them take the time to fully check everything, and address any concerns. I had to come in one time fir an emergency eye visit, I saw the the doctor the same day and she did a through exam and gave me the recommendation for healing the eye quickly. Not long ago Dr. Lam gave me my eye exam and it wasn't your traditional visit because surprisingly I left educated. After the tests were completed I didn't get the standard "everything looks good" instead it was more like, "everything looks good and let me show you exactly what I'm looking at to come to this diagnosis"... what? ...cool! Now yesterday I had an emergency because I my fight with a sago palm ended with the palm winning and my eye in excruciating pain. This office got me in ASAP and Dr. Lam was immediately making me feel better with his easy demeanor. The passion he has for his patients and profession is refreshing!! I called to see if I could make an appointment to purchase a pair of glasses for my son. I was told that it was first come, first serve. When we arrived, we were told we had to wait 5-10 minutes. Half an hour later, after 2 people had left, instead of taking us next, we were rudely told we have have to wait "a few more minutes" because the man that had just arrived had an appointment. The girl was so rude and condescending. Same day glasses are not cheap, so if they think they can be rude and not apologize for there misinformation, there wrong. It's no wonder why they have such a poor rating. read more

Lets start with the posisitive. They promised eye glasses in an hour and they delievered. The prescription was correct and the glasses fit nicely. I needed glasses quickly and they really delivered. Now for the negative. Simply put I should not have to pay the same for eyeglasses as I do for a new cell phone. Also stop with all the upselling. Instead offer an affordable product that people want. For example why is anti-glare protection extra. If its a feature that makes your glasses better put it in every product. Now for a bit of both Finally the shop's service was only so so. They did a great job of helping me initially. They helped me pick frames and made sure my new glasses fit correctly. However picking up my glasses took far too long. All they had to do was hand me the glasses case. Unfortunatley that did not take a minute or even five minutes. No that took fifteen minutes. Pros: Got an appointment same day by scheduling online. Great staff, fast service, and overall impressive appointment. The doctor and staff were knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Cons: Staff that works the sales floor does not communicate well with the lab. Was told that my prescription sunglasses would be done that day. Ended up getting a call the NEXT day that the lab wanted to send it out to be done. Ended up getting a refund. The price is worth it if they can do the job quickly, but make sure that you confirm if the lab can really finish the job same day! read more

I visited the Brea location on Imperial Hwy. Dr. Lam is an excellent optometrist; he really took the time to explain everything I need to know about the health of my eyes, and a very thorough explanation between contacts and glasses (because I wear progressive lenses). In addition, Steven was very helpful and provided excellent customer service when helping me select my glasses and breakdown of my insurance and payment. He even went "the extra mile" by allowing me to come back "after hours" so we could finalize the fitting of my progressive lenses. They are a great team and I highly recommend visiting this location. read more

This specific location is the worst, the doctor gave me a wrong prescription and had to re-do the exam, the new glasses came with no anti-glare like I ordered so had to return them, the staff are not focused on what they are doing. Complete waste of time and money, and at the end the doctor got upset and doesn't want to provide services for me because I got a full refund of the exam that they did wrong. read more

I love this place. Everyone is so nice. I've learned more about my own eyes/vision and eyes/vision in general than I learned anywhere else I had previously been. The optometrists really take the time to explain things to you. It's like a mini education. Large selection of frames too. Give them a try. So all the above is still true, but I just paid attention to my insurance and learned Lenscrafters is out of network for VSP. This cost me about $300 or more than I needed to pay for glasses and sunglasses. Though I take some responsibility for not understanding my insurance, I feel Lenscrafters was deceptive. When I asked if they took VSP the answer was simply "yes". Not "yes, but we're out of network", just "yes". I didn't know what my insurance covered or what I was going to be out of pocket, so I trusted what Lenscrafters told me is what it was. I didn't realize there was in-network and out-of-network providers for these services. I'm not the only one from a very large local employer that has had this experience, and the word is out. Deceptive practices nets you 2 stars for great optometrist. You'll never see me, my family, and hopefully none of my co-workers again. read more

Started at Costco looking for frames. Couple of nice ones but nothing I really liked. Went to several other places for frames, all with small selection. LC's has a much bigger selection (really good brands too) but they were not in my insurance network. Service was good, not to pushy. I spent about an hour trying on frames at LC's, ended up with Ray Bans. Was going to have LC's put the lenses in but they are WAY to expensive. Called Costco and they can do it for less than half. Lenses are all the same and Costco is not junk. So I got cool frames and lenses at a cheap price. If your looking for frames start with Costco and if you can't find any there go to LC's. But have your lenses done at Costco. read more

Being absolutely blind all my life, I've been to my fair share of optometrists and this location is hands down the easiest and most convenient one I've been to. The staff is friendly and helpful, I can almost always get an appointment right away, and I LOVE Dr. Tao. I only go in about once a year to update my rx and she always remembers me and asks how I've been, which is crazy to me seeing as she must see so many people a day, let alone in a year. Just shows she actually cares about the people she seeing on a daily basis. Their prices for glasses and contacts are a bit high, and while I usually opt to buy them elsewhere, I will always come back to this location for my annual check up. read more

Called because I have an eye emergency. Recently got an eye infection and I was told I can't wear my contacts for almost two weeks! The problem is I'm almost legally blind and I don't have glasses (I know my fault). Got to this location and was helped by Steven. Super nice guy couldn't believe how friendly and sweet the entire staff was! Explained my situation and was able to get glasses same day! Steven made sure everything was taken care of and made me laugh along the way. He's not too bad on the eyes either ladies! Haha Most importantly they saved my butt! I always get my glasses from LensCrafters and I have to say, this is my favorite location! I've been here a couple times and both exceeded my expectations. The customer service and selection is awesome! Also, I never have to wait any longer than an hour for my glasses which is great. The staff is friendly and helpful, most notably, Nick. He has helped me on both of my visits and is very knowledgeable and personable! One last note, I believe the reviewer "Silky P." left a review for the incorrect location. My first visit was great. The doctor was great and the two woman that did the first part of my exam was fantastic, professional and friendly and the woman who helped me look at frames was also very nice. The first gal who helped me told me about a deal they were having on contacts where I got 10% off of the contacts as well as as a $50 mail in rebate. The second gal confirmed all of that. Today, a week later, I call to order my contacts and had a completely different experience. The gentleman who answered was nice but when I mentioned the deal I was told about, he wasn't familiar. He ask me if I wanted to call back to speak with the young lady that helped me when I was in there, I told him no can he please Check to see if this deal was still valid and let me know. He comes back and says the deal is one or the other. I either get 10% or the rebate. By now I just want to order and move on, he puts me on hold and after a couple minutes a young lady gets on the phone and very short like she is put out gives me my total and says I gave you the 15% how are you paying?? Really like she was bothered so I ask about the rebate she said you can come pick it up it's a mail in, I ask her to mail it being my contacts were being mailed to my home and I had no reason to drive all the way over there. Nope was her reply, you have to pick it up. Your contact are mailed from the manufacturer not us. Hmm ok .. short rude and obviously bothered. Well I guess next trip will be to another Optometrist. Really need to train these folks on customer service being we have so many other places to take our business. read more

I purchased my glasses at this location with insurance plan for a year yesturday I got a scratch on my lens dead center very annoying I immediately called the store confirmed they were covered they were suppose to call me back to confirm appointment never did so I go to store anyways to get them checked one employee starts helping me than has to leave to set up a patient I continue to wait again I finally get help then tell me who ever spoke to me made a mistake that my insurance had expired 9 days ago employee helping me asked supervisor blanca questions they kept whispering to each other back and forth in front of me not giving me a direct answer or acknowledging my presence very unprofessional so I left went to lens crafters inside the brea mall completely better service they accepted my "expired insurance " swapped lences and I got my eye/contact exam with them wont be going back here. read more
